Is anyone aware of a way to expand the notification bar via a shortcut or widget, without having to reach up to the top of the screen to pull down?
If you have a launcher like Nova, you can use a gesture to open it. But you have to be on one of your home screens to use it.
For example, whenever I swipe down anywhere on my home screen, the notification bar opens.

Yeah, I have Nova and love it, and am already using the "down" gesture to expand notifications. What I was wanting to do was make a custom "down" slider in WidgetLocker to activate notification expansion, and since Teslacoil hasn't added this feature to their WidgetLocker options yet, I thought i might be able to achieve this by pointing to an available app or widget.

Longpress the homescreen and you can use one of the Nova Actions to create an icon to do it.
Or, if you want it to be on the lockscreen, go into System Settings>Lockscreen>Slider Shortcuts, choose the spot you want. When it comes up asking you to select a 'Custom Application' scroll down to Nova Launcher then select expand notifications....
This is the Menu you want, but see how it's got the Nova icon but says "activities"? You don't want that one, scroll down until you see the icon again and it's labelled Nova Launcher.

Thx, the screenshot did it. For some reason i don't seem to have the same menu descriptions that you listed though. I have a GS3 stock, rooted, Nova, and WidgetLocker.
I was able to achieve what i needed with "Long pressing my slider">Edit>"Choose Direction">Shortcut>Nova Launcher>Expand Notifications. I think i overlooked the Nova option you suggested about a dozen stinking times thinking is was pointing to Nova settings or something. I always gravitate toward the activities menu instead. Thx for pointing that out.

Has anyone else downloaded this Launcher, and messed with it?
I downloaded it tonight, and I love it. Check my screencap.
It allows 5 apps to be put on a menu bar, allows you to select the number of home screens you want, and allows the home screen to go sideways.
I really like it, let me know your thoughts.

Sounds just like LauncherPro Beta. except with LauncherPro my notification bar is hidden, and i have a glass dock under my five shortcut icons. gives it a slight OS X feel, which i love. =o)
EDIT: also with LauncherPro you can set the speed that the app drawer opens. a useless feature that i really enjoy having.
how are the animations? The stock evo rom doesn't have the zooming in from middle when launching an app, but launcher pro does. I love this eye-pleasing feature. Does Zeam do this aswell?
Animation is great. Apps slide up from the bottom.

ok, just downloaded it... its aight, the default animation for the launcher is the "fly in" visualization, but it is not the smoothest. The slide option in preferences is much smoother.
But to all who want to know, when you tap to launch an app, it has the normal(semi-outdated) slide animation (apps slide in from the right), but launcher pro has the "zoom in from center of the screen" animation, which is great. It also fades your current app through the middle when you hit home to return back.
i'll be stickin with launcher pro, more options in preferences and overall great usuability and awesome graphics (3D apps menu available via advanced preferences)
maybe Zeam will pick it up a notch, i like the concept alot (especially the dock bar), just wish the dev could implement the launching animation of apps.
I have seen this discussed on videos however I havent managed to figure it out myself. Apparently you go to the app drawer and click the 'menu button' and you then can change them.. I dont see it. Or what I think is the menu botton isnt correct
Who knows?

1. From the Home screen select "Applications"
2. Menu> View Type> Customizable Grid
3. Menu> Edit
You can now slide any App down to the bottom dock. You can even change it back to "Alphabetical Grid" and it will still save the Apps on the dock.

Now for the tricky part.... any idea on how to put a widget icon down there, like unread SMS or GMail? Would love to replace the Email icon with the unread GMail one!
Thanks
You can move (by dragging) anything that is in your App Draw (Applications menu) down to the dock. Gmail is one of those Items. That was the first thing I did.
As for widgets, I don not see any way to do it. Looks like we are limited to only items listed in the App Draw.
You can only put icons on the dock that appear in your app drawer, no widgets. However, you can still put your gmail and sms apps in the dock. Just use the method listed above. I'd recommend switching to LauncherPro (Launcher Pro plus is even better) because it is easier to switch the items on the dock and you have more options. It is also just faster than TW.

Pure genius!
Apparently it's in the actual manual? Who reads those?
I posted this question in the screenshot thread, but wanted to get more public attention to this in hopes of finding someone who knows the answers to my questions. Thanks in advance!

What apps / widgets did you use to get this blacked out screen? Also, how did you get it to look like you did? Details would be wonderful, as i'm pretty new to the modification scene. Phone is completely rooted, and currently using Gummy Charged Rom on IMNUTS otb Kernel.
Update: Alright, I found the widgets for the text and clock and stuff you used (plan on making my own personal touch of course), now I the only thing I need to figure out is how to remove the notification bar at the top, and the icons at the bottom, and also how do you overlap widgets? One last thing, is there a way to get the normal phone lock to not show up, without losing the menu when holding power? (Make it so the screen never times out normally, but allow LockMenu app to time it out instead) If anyone else knows how he did this, would be great. Thanks!
ADW Launcher will allow you to remove the notification bar and dock icons.
Adw ex can get rid of dock and overlap widgets and hide notification bar...maybe even regular adw

+1 for ADW it will do what he said.. as for removing the lock screen without removing the power menu, there is an app called No Lock that will make it so your screen times out normally but when turned back on there is no lockscreen (also I've heard No Lock Screen app works well too plus gives you a widget to toggle lock on/off)
Doesn't work with Charge, unfortunately. At least not how I want it. Thanks for the suggestion though! As far as getting my screen how I wanted it. I'm nearly there. Just need to get the paid version so I can overlap my widgets and i'll be golden.
Go Launcher EX is free and will allow you to hide the notification bar and dock bar.
You can also setup gestures for these actions. I map Swipe-down to Open Notification (helps with the large screen) and Swipe-up to Hide/Show Dock Bar. I just double checked and you can definitely set up a gesture to Show/Hide the Notification Bar, although it says "Show/Hide Status Bar".
SiMi Clock will give you a similar clock setup. I think you can customize the crap out of that application anyway. Here's what I quickly came up with:
Yeah, ADW has a free version, but it also has a "premium" app which you need to pay for that allows you to overlap widgets. The option isn't available in the free version. I tried Go Launcher, but I like ADW more.
Exactly.. So you'd need to buy ADW Ex or tinker with custom home screen grids in Go Launcher.
Although you don't need the paid version. Simiclock has weather and battery status widgets that are 1x1. You can move them as you want without worrying about overlapping. The Calendar is extdatewidgetxl, although I prefer just the extdatewidget.
How do you get rid of the black bar on top?

I know I absolutely am. I prefer the customization of adw. I need my swipe gestures. Plus, I set my density on my Inspire to 160dpi, so the stock launcher looks scrunched in the app drawer.
Can someone upload that adw plus ics thing? Im on my phone so its hard to search

Hmmmm, I don't have any option to show/hide action bar.
Are we talking about the top of the screen, where I have a blue line and above it on the right hand side the button that looks like 3 dots that opens settings? That's what I wanna get rid of. So the top of my tabs screen looks like the first pic you see whern you look at adw launcher ex on the market.
I cannot email developer of adw ex. I get delivery failed on gmail whenever I try to mail anderweb

When I have a blank screen on my lg g3 d850, the screen shows the words "touch and hold screen to add more apps or widgets" I would like to know how to remove this or beg a developer to create a module to delete the text.

Why not just use Nova or another launcher?
Download "Blank Widget" from the play store. It allows you to place a resizable invisible widget on your launcher. That way you can get rid of the text and still have a page that appears blank.

If you just pinch out on the home screen it will hide all the apps and widgets on that page and just show the background.

I just downloaded and installed "Invisible Widget." Works like a charm, and cleaned off the BS message on my home screen, leaving the few apps I had pasted at the bottom of the screen. Good app, recommended.
