Poetic SLIMLINE Portfolio - 7" Kindle Fire HD Accessories

I had this case for my Nexus 7. Best case out there IMO. Very slim, puts the device to sleep, etc. Has magnets to keep the case closed. VERY similar to the Ipad smart cover. As soon as I saw Poetic was making one for the Fire HD I placed a pre-order. Ships next week! Poetic if a very good company to work with also.

[REVIEW] *Updated 9JAN13* Poetic Slimbook vs Nillkin Flip Cover

*Updated 9JAN13 last paragraph*
I wanted to take a moment to give review of the Poetic Slimbook Case for the Nexus 4. Their is already a general discussion thread concerning this case located: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2006671. In contrast to the general discussion thread, I wanted to compare the Poetic case to the other possible flip cover option made by Nillkin.
General Description:
The Poetic Slimbook has a smooth textured leather type exterior that feels good to the touch. It is black in color with white stitching. The case has a solid feel and the clasp uses a magnet to keep the case closed. The front cover can hold three credit cards as well as an opening for cash or larger items. Additionally the front cover is reinforced to ensure it retains its shape even when stuffed full. The phone is held in place using a plastic molded holder. This holder has no padding, but does do the job of retaining your phone. The holder is adhered to another reinforced leather type back. The back has cut outs for camera as well as speaker. You have access to your phone's power button when the case is closed. To ensure access to the volume buttons with the case closed Poetic replaced leather on the interior edge with a felt type material.
Price: Currently $10.95 at http://www.amazon.com/Poetic-Slimbo...55313&sr=8-1&keywords=poetic+slimbook+nexus+4
The Nillkin case is a stark contrast to the Poetic Slimbook. Nillkin designed this case to be slim and premium. First off it should be noted that this case comes with a front and rear screen protector. I would compare the quality to my Clarivue clear screen protector that I already reviewed on XDA. The case is amazingly thin. Seriously it is as thin as my s-line tpu case. The feel in the hand is very solid and it has a ton of grip. The phone also snaps into a plastic molded holster. The difference is that the plastic holster is a little thicker and has the textured leather backing applied directly to it. The flip cover has a smooth textured felt lining and sits completely flat along the front. It does not have a tendency to flop open when not intended. The front has a cut out for the front speaker. The back has cut outs for the camera as well as rear speaker.
Price: $16.99 (US Seller) at http://www.ebay.com/itm/370717427970?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649.
Comparison:
First I will tell you I did take the time to use both of these cases for a few days before I posted this review. From initial impressions I thought the Nillkin case was a clear winner. It is amazingly thin and feels better than any other case I have ever owned. I love that it has a cut out for the front speaker and I can confirm that it works well closed while on phone calls. Another great feature about the Nillkin case is that it does work with my Energizer Qi charger. The Poetic does not. I can say is that I was shocked how much I liked the Poetic case once I tried is out as my daily. It is extremely convenient to have my cash, credit cards, ID card and drivers license all in one thin location. Fully loaded the Poetic case felt firm, well built and fantastic! I carried mine with 5 bills folded in half. I placed my drivers license in the back large pocket with the cash. I then used 2 credit card slots. It was about an inch thick. I found that if you place 3 cards in the front the case bulges substantially. I would expect this to improve as the case breaks in. I did not have a problem with the magnet keeping the case closed. I would recommend having a front screen protector on when using this case. The credit cards sit directly on the screen.
One thing I found interesting was that I was not able to actually change my volume with the Poetic case closed. It was a combination of not being able to find the buttons, and also the material being to stiff. In contrast I was able to press the volume buttons with the Nillkin case closed. This is not an advertised feature, but it worked well. Another design feature I found to be particularly helpful was the clasp on the Poetic case. When I set the case on a flat surface with the face up the clasp actually leaves enough of a gap underneath to prevent the muffling of the speaker. I know this was not by design, but I did find it helpful.
Which to choose?
When I bought my Poetic case it was $4.95. At that price I would say to without a doubt get both cases. When I am wearing my work uniform I like the Poetic. With jeans on I like the Nillkin. Now that the price is over $10.00 for the Poetic, it is much harder to justify. I paid a little more for the Nillkin case because I wanted it before I left for vacation. I still think it is worth the $16.99 price. Over the next few weeks as more sellers start to sell the Nillkin case I would actually recommend buying the $19.99 actual leather (smooth textured) Nillkin case. It would have the same design with a little higher material choice for a minimal price increase. If you wear loose clothes and can manage the size of the Poetic case it is extremely convenient (or use a back pocket if your ego can handle it). I would just wait for a price drop. If you like minimal bulk and want the screen protected the Nillkin is a great choice.
Please let me now if you would like any different pictures. Hit the thanks if this helped.
*Update* I wanted to give a quick update on the poetic case. I just finished using this case during a 10 day vacation in Hawaii. The poetic case was my daily. It went with me to every corner of Oahu from hikes to dinners to boat cruises, this case was it. I wanted to test the durability of the case as far as wear and break in as well as the strength of the plastic holder. I took the phone out at lease 2 times a day in my condo.
This case is amazing. While the nillkin case is starting to show wear and dirt the poetic case can hold more, and lies even more flat. I carried: 5-6 bills folded, 4 ID's, 1-2 credit cards at all times. This case always remained closed and lied as flat as it did with much less during my initial review. It folds back on itself very well for phone calls and the plastic phone holder is showing no sign of wear. I will post more details when I get back from the airport.
This looks awesome. Thank you for the link. Looking forward to your impressions on the case.

I don't get it. Why is this thread getting so much more attention than the last Poetic case thread? OP, you so popular.
Ooooh, a comparison
If I had cash to blow I'd just buy this on top of my usual TPU case. Sorta want the hard leather one too cause it seems more protective. If anyone gets either cases please do a short review on the defensive capabilities of those cases. Interested in these cause it gives a little defense for the screen too.

Man I love how all these new accessories are so cheap right now. Buying a bunch to increase resale value for when the new nexus comes out

I ordered both of these! I also ordered the Poetic bumper for the N4. They have it on Amazon for $6, but it won't be in stock until Dec. 30th. Still, $6 over $20 + shipping on the Play Store is a great deal. I'll just wait it out.
Received my case 2 days ago. I will post a review this evening.

Which Case? Puregear Dualtek Extreme or UAG

I know, I know...please not another "which should I choose?" thread...I get tired of them too. With that being said, the topic pretty much tells the tale. I'll clarify for those willing to give their input: I've narrowed my choice of cases down to these two (PureGear DualTek Extreme and UAG Navigator) based on my personal preferences, but I have no experience with either company nor their products...This is where you come in. I'm not asking you to necessarily tell me which one I should choose or shouldn't choose, but I would like to hear how YOUR experience has been with either of these companies or these cases. Any and all input is welcomed!
Thanks in advance for your participation.
I had a Dualtek Extreme case for my Razr Maxx and after about a week of collecting massive pocket lint the corner bumpers started falling off. I only had the case for about 2 weeks cause after the bumpers fell off it looked really silly. (A very heavy duty case but minus bumpers you ahve gaping holes on all four corners.)
I just ordered a GS4 and am kicking around the UAG or the Spigen SlimArmor case. (Leaning more towards UAG cause I like the look and the large built in corner bumpers.)
Never tried the puregear case, but rocked the Uag case on my S3, and right now I have the black uag case for my S4 and just ordered the white one as well. Highly recommend Uag. Great protection, durable, not bulky, and their customer service is awesome. I put up a review of the uag case if you want to check it out
Sent from Flip's Galaxy S4
UAG best for my S3... now for my S4
Its the Best case in my collection:
Ringke Slim (black)
Otterbox Commuter (yellow)
Spigen Slim Armor (white & black)
Spigen Neo Hybrid (red)
Sent from my GT-I9505 using xda premium
I ordered this:
http://www.amazon.com/Ionic-GUARDIA...qid=1369920767&sr=8-6&keywords=galaxy+s4+case
I've had it for a day now and I am really happy with it. The price is more than fair (IMO). Protection is excellent since it is a 2 stage cover (Silicon-Plastic).
The front of the device is protected meaning you can place your phone face down.
And finally it looks great.

[VIDEO] Labato Leather S View Case for the Samsung Galaxy S4 - Cheapest Leather Case?

This case shipped from Jison, another manufacturer of leather cell phone cases. The smell of the case was familiar. Genuine leather just like the Jison Executive Folio case I reviewed. With a price coming in under 10 dollars, I was surprised to see 1 and 3 star ratings for the product on Amazon.
It came down to durability for those customers. They claimed that the leather was coming up after extended use. I’ll keep the case on and do a follow up if it falls apart.
My initial thoughts about the case is that it will suit business oriented people really well. It looks great. Active or clumsy users might want to spring for something that offers more side protection though as this is basically just a flip cover.
Oh and no issues using QI wireless chargers with this. Not a lot of protection on the corners naturally. Just take a look at the design. Slim and leather.

Looks good and dirt cheap. I hope it's not gonna fall apart in a week....

Poetic Quarterback case for Amazon Fire 7 (2015)

I received the Poetic Quarterback case today. It can be found at this link http://www.amazon.com/Poetic-QuarterBack-Protection-Replaceable-Black/dp/B019SFU05M. Very nice look to the case, study feel, and looks somewhat industrial with the metal studs on the back. I would feel very comfortable having this case on my tablet in a professional environment such as a workplace or university. I usually have my Poetic Turtle Skin Series case on my Amazon Fire, and that one does offer a bit more protection in my opinion for the tablet, but it is not as pleasing in appearance as the Quarterback case is. Overall I am pleased with the case and it is everything I expected after viewing it online. If you are looking for a sleek professional looking case for the Amazon Fire then this is the case to purchase, and on top of this, the pricing is also quite reasonable. The one complaint I have is that I am worried I will scratch the surface I place the case upon due to the metal studs on the back, and I guess that could be fixed if one could replace them with plastic/rubberized ones.

I want to buy the same Poetic Quarterback Case, but for my Fire 8 (2015):
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B019...age_23?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A1NM6DL7S92CZW&th=1
Poetic - Fire HD 8 Case, Poetic Quarterback [Corner / Bumper Protection] [Replaceable Back] [Dual protection] - Stylish rugged PC + TPU Case for Amazon Fire HD 8 (2015) Black / Black
Although both the 7" and 8" Cases are similars, I would like to know if anyone has bought this Case for the 8" Model, and if this Case is also recommended for the new Amazon Fire 8" tablets.*
Since apparently it could offer more protection, I was also interested in the Poetic Turtle Skin Series case for the Fire 8, but I found it a little big and bulky.
So, I also would like to know if the Poetic Quarterback Case for Fire 8, really looks and feels more professional, and if although is thin and light, will provide good protection for the Fire 8?

I've been using it for about a week now on my Fire 7 (2015) and I really like it. I also did a weighing and the Quarterback case to my surprise is actually lighter than the Turtle case. So I would definitely say you should go for it. Especially since it is only like $11.95. However if you are looking for protection, then you should go for the Turtle case.
Thanks rjmxtech for your quick reply!
As I said before, I am looking for protection, but I think that the turtle case is may be to big and heavy...
I Don't know if it's to much to ask, but could you please post some pictures of both cases, so I can compare the size and shape of these two Poetic Cases?
I am also planning to get a Tempered Glass Screen Protector:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B014JA3U1C/ref=ya_st_dp_summary
SPARIN - Fire HD 8 Screen Protector [Tempered Glass], SPARIN® [Bubble-Free] [Repeatable Installation] Glass Screen Protector for NEW - Fire HD 8 (2015 Released)
Do you know if this is good quality, or know of any other brand that could be much better?
Nice Rugged Case, Be Careful Around Some Surfaces
Poetic kindly sent me this case in exchange for a review, as I'd previously bought their Poetic Note case for my Nexus 7 (2013) (and love it!).
The good: I love the feel of this case... it gives the otherwise cheap feeling Amazon Fire some real substance. I also love the rubber bezel on the sides which makes it great to grip and hold. The front lip isn't huge which is nice, but still substantial enough to keep the screen off dirty surfaces if you lay it screen down. The rubber is also nice and rigid, and it holds it very securely; buttons seems to work well in it still. I like the back plate styling a lot too. And overall, with this case on, it really feels like I can frisbee the Fire around (to the couch, across a table, etc) without worry.
The meh: The removable back plate is rather tricky to take off, but is just part of how securely this case fits together. Some of my MicroUSB cables have less than svelte connectors which are a bit difficult to plug in, and make the case bulge out a bit around it (photo).
The bad: The hex screws that hold the back plate on... the heads stand off the back by about a millimeter (photo), and while they certainly give it a rugged look and have the benefit of keeping the back from getting scuffed/damaged because it never rests on the plastic. But, I am extremely worried about them scratching other devices in my bag, and incredibly leery of tossing this around or even setting it down on surfaces you actually care about... like wood tables you don't want dented/scored, my glass desk, the glass conference table at work, etc. I really cringe getting it near anything glass. I'm tempted to just leave them off as the back plate does snap onto the rubber really securely anyway, but I also kind of wish they were plastic metallic-looking screws or just flush plastic plugs instead.
Overall, I do like the case a lot, and have continued to use it for the last 3 weeks despite my reservations about the screw-heads.

Poetic Revolution Amazon Fire 7 (2015) Case

I received the Poetic Revolution case for my Amazon Fire 7 (2015) a few weeks ago and so far it looks very promising and works great as well. I appreciate that the rivets/screws (whatever they are) on the back of the case are not metal, or are coated with plastic, as it let's me not worry about where I am going to set the case down or of it will scratch or not, but even if they were, the edges of the back of the case are sightly raised above the rest of it so it eliminated any possible issues regarding the rivets/screws. I have the Poetic Quarterback and Turtle case as well and I have to say this is the most protective case Poetic has available at the moment for the Amazon Fire 7 (2015) and it is well worth the price. Overall, this case is the most protective case Poetic has available for this tablet and it is just amazing. If this was a school assignment and I was a teacher, I'd give Poetic a 100% grade. Well done!!!!
