[Q] Updating Radio for AOKP? - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

Hi guys,
In the radio thread I notice some with AOKP have update their radio.img, is that still OK for me if only to update the radio.img without the RILs? Any way I can backup my current one in case I need to fall back?
Or this is not suggested at all? If not do you guys have any recommendation on the radio for AOKP? Thanks in advance

Hi Kahei, I'm pretty sure you don't need the RILs for JB based ROMS.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1694012

You definitely don't need the RIL. But you can download the zip without the RIL included, that way you can flash with clockwork or TWRP easily

In the new aosp roms (cm10, aokp, ect...) you can't update the radio at all. They are trying to fix some bugs, and seeing if that helps.

[Q] 3.33 fw, what should I do?

what's up guys!
I read about a new fw for our sensation and I have few questions...
first! I use aokp roms...does this fw improve my phone experience?
2, this is a firmware, so, I have just to flash it from bootloader and I have not to wipe anything just like the 3.32 update from previous versions, right?
3 what are your impressions about this? maybe if you tell me what rom are you running...would be great! thanks...
4 what are the improvements that this fw brings? does this handle the heating problem? or is still there...
thanx a lot to everyone
Great question I'm going to follow this thread, I'd also like to know !

1. Just a difference in radios
2. Correct
3. Radio related but if you are stock I heard it fixes a lot of issues (the 3.33 rom not firmware)
4. Not sure as hasn't been reported to me

thank you very much, so...i'm not supposed to flash it until I use a stock based rom...it changes nothing...or maybe it could...I'll wait for some aosp based user's feedback
what about the stock rom...is it really better with the new update?
i'm running aokp, put the zip from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459767 onto my sdcard, flashed from bootloader and hey presto new firmware.
Can't say that i've noticed a difference though.

How do I do an ADSP firmware update?

I installed the JB ROM JellyTime Beta 7 fine. When I installed JellyTime Beta 8, it hung on the Jellybean boot screen. The OP of the JellyTime thread told someone else with the same problem to update their ADSP firmware for new kernels. I searched and searched, but I couldn't find a reference to how do do that or what it even really was. Could anyone help point me in the right direction?

Sure wish i could get some help with this too.
Have you guys tried the latest releases? When full wiping include format all partitions except sd card.
Sent from a dream.
What latest releases are you referring to? Could you please be more specific?
EDIT: I did a full wipe and reformat of everything, including system, data, and cache.
Right now they are on beta 10. Funny thing, I don't recall anyone mentioning a need to do a adsp firmware update. I don't even know what it is.

I upgraded my radio and ril and it still would not work. I then flashed a stock htc ROM that had sense 3 and then it would take beta 10.

That is the one. But if you don't do a full wipe before you do beta 10 it will have errors. It would still boot but have lots of errors.

In case anyone is looking for a solution and finds this thread, I can confirm that flashing the stock ROM, wiping, and flashing Beta 10 works.

It worked for me as well.
along the same discussion I'd like to ask another question about the new 3.0 kernel.
I'm a weekly ROM changer and usually run IceColdSandwich. Once I switch back to ICS and want to reflash JT to check out the latest improvements/updates, do I have to re-flash the GizRoot_v_2 with the 3.0 kernel then flash JellyTime? Would it work If I did a backup of JellyTime and tried to restore it when a new update comes out or does it become non flashable once I've returned to the older ICS kernel?
In other words, can I flash between ICS and JT without having to go through all the steps to reload the 3.0 kernel?
Thanks in advance to a great community!

Nope. You only need to flash the stock once; after that, flash back and forth to your heart's content.

IceColdSandwich runs on a 2.6.5 kernel, and will not work with a 3.0 kernel. Jellytime runs on a 3.0 kernel and will not work with a 2.6.5 kernel. Both of those ROMS have their respective kernels included. You only have to flash the ROM. I'd also recommend a full wipe before each flash as well.

usspatriot is actually referring to a separate question. Some of us need to update our firmware to run JB, which can only be done by flashing the latest stock before flashing JB. He wanted to know if the updated firmware would be overwritten by flashing ICS, requiring a reflash of stock before reflashing JB. The ICS and JB kernels are not at issue.
I wonder if this has anything to do with my issue with JB on a Desire HD:
I came from SmartDroid_Reloaded_wwe_1.5.2, did a full wipe, installed, everything works fine for me except for cellular data.
I'm wondering if it's something to do with JB not liking my phone? I've also tried a couple of ICS roms.. See below:
SmartDroid_Reloaded_wwe_1.5.2 = cell data works
Sabsa_Prime_v5.0 = cell data works
TrickDroid_v1.1.1 = cell data works
cm-cfX-20120925-OFFICIAL-ace = no cell data
cm-JellyTime_R10 = no cell data
cm-JellyTime_R10.1 = no cell data
cm-JellyTime_R11 = no cell data
i set my APN's to suit my network (crazy johns in australia) but nothing works..
If i connect to wifi, both the wifi signal and cell signal turn blue, if i disconnect from wifi, both turn grey.
MMS, SMS, Phone calls work fine..

WiFi and mobile Internet problems

I've only used CM10 based roms but these are the problems I'm having.
- When my phone goes to deep sleep, my WiFi disconnects. Well, it doesn't really disconnect because when I unlock the phone, I see the wifi signal but it's in grey instead of blue. I don't get my notifications while it's in deep sleep.
- Also, when I switch to data (mobile internet), it doesn't work until I switch from 3G to 2G or vice versa.
Does anybody else have these problems? What can be done? Thank you.
Info: I'm on the latest available EU radio (I live in Belgium) and hboot 1.06. Rom: Jelly Bam.

Hmm I see the same sort of thing but I am still getting notifications. You could flash the JB Radio and Extra Partitions and do the same for the rom with the CM radio installer.

Thank you.
Where can I find these Extra Partitions? Also, I'm guessing I'm already on a JB radio because it's the latest one. 1.11 EU.
Jelly Bam doesn't come with a radio installer but Dark Jelly does (I think).
I don't think it will solve my mobile internet problems but it's a start.

I already flashed the EU 1.11 radio from the first link so I should be good as far as the radio is concerned. Are you sure the second link (the one for the extra partitions) works on Jelly Bam (CM10)?
OP says it's Sense only on the first page in the comment section.

You know what I'm not sure but the extra partitions are for wifi and it seems better then what ever ones I had before that.

I see.. I'll have to sit tight until someone can confirm that it's safe/it works. Thanks though.
EDIT: I checked my radio version again and it was still the old one. It's like some roms come with their own radio versions.
Reflashed the latest one and all is well for now. I'll do some more testing and report.

Only up to date roms will have JB radio but you can install the Sense radio so it matches up and its safe.

Don't want to risk flashing the wifi partitions on a CM10 based rom unless it's safe.
Any ideas anyone? I really need this fixed. It's not just WiFi, but data too that's wonky.

Ok thats just wrong. AOSP will only use the radio in the rom. so if ur on Jellybam just flash the AOSP radio. Thats it
If you are on a sense JellyBean 4+ rom then u can flash the Sense Radio and Wifi partitions.
Its one or the other. Not both.
The AOSP radio is which one? I always flashed the latest available one in the CM10 Aroma Installer.

I flashed the radio and I'm running AOKP and I'm S-OFF. It flashed perfectly fine. Also, it was said by many to NOT flash the RIL unless you're using a sense based ROM or else it can cause problems.
Just flash the radio and you will be fine.

CyanogenMod 7.2 Stable Inspire 4G Radio

Hi all,
First off sorry if this is in the wrong thread, I've been doing a good bit of reading on XDA but first post (woot). I am using an HTC Inspire 4g that has been rooted and S-OFF. I am a fan of the CodeFireX 4.2.2 SR15 ROM, but need something a little more stable for the next couple months, so I am reverting to the last stable CM 7.2 release (gb) and I was wondering if anyone knew if the latest radio's and RIL's . I have experience flashing ROMs and gapps and a couple radios, but I am curious if any of the newest radios will work (or just the ones listed at the bottom of the cyanogenmod Ace wiki page?
Thanks in advance for any help!
Flash and find out. Radios are location dependant. I'm using last cm nightly and the radio signal is bad but I'm too lazy to flash a different radio to find out.
Rils are for sense roms. Whatever ril comes with the non-sense rom, thats the ril to use.

Thanks for the tip, I wasn't too sure about the RIL's. I had just read that the wrong/incompatible radio being flashed could brick the phone, so I wanted to see if anyone had tried.
