Crunchyroll? - Asus Transformer TF700

I haven't been able to watch anything on Crunchyroll since I upgraded to Jelly bean. The app opens but its all empty. I think its related to the lack of flash support.
Has anyone been able to get this working? I tried the Dolphin Browser + Flash trick, but haven't had much luck, I can't get Crunchyroll to play in Dolphin either. It says my version is out of date. But I can use flash on other sites that aren't as picky about versions.

I believe this belongs in the Q&A Board, but here goes:
I tried the app and, though it failed a few times, I was able to retry and get a video to play just fine. In the browser, (I use Boat Browser with Adobe flash installed as well) the video froze loading on the mobile site, but when I changed my UA to Desktop, it worked flawlessly. Hope this helps!

I use this app to watch my anime. No issues getting to play any episodes. No problems on browser as well (stock).
I also use this method to get flash working on certain sites that are a bit anal about flash like Hulu and ESPN.com

i reinstalled my app as well. Still shows the top menu bar, but nothing in the middle. Are both of you using the Asus build (not CM10 or another JB build)? Any strange modifications?
I can play other flash sites, just not Crunchyroll. ugh.

For me I'm straight stock rooted and locked. Only modification is from the flash player.

Playing around with the crunchyroll app I have found that if ur transformer is docked in then the app will be blank when launched but if you remove the app from the dock and put in portrait and then run the app it works fine.It seems the app will only work in portrait when navigating the app but when docked the tablet is forced into landscape so it fails to load since a landscape UI was not set for the app.

Zinio magazine app port request

Anyone port over the Zinio magazine app from the honeycomb tablet yet?
Tried to find in the app store with no luck.

I'd not bother until a more polished version of Zinio is released.
I've a Xoom on 3.01, the current app is slow and unresponsive when zoom in/out and navigate within a magazine. I also got low memory warning when using it.
I really don't think the app will perform any better on a single core and 512mb of ram device.
They did state on their market page that a 2.2+ version is in the work.
I had zinio on the ipad, it was a great app! can't wait to try it on my tab now...
Just wait till they re-release it again. No idea why they disabled the current version for our Tabs though. Stupid decision.

Just search for zinio in the xda forums. There is an app already out there because we have been using it on our USA tabs for months now. It works perfectly fast and has landscape also.

I am using Zinio on my P1000 Tab now.
I have it working via readers hub but it asks for an update. working ok though B-)

The Zinio app was not showing up in the market till I changed the build.prop using the Xoom's settings. There is a thread on Modaco where Paul did this to his Asus Transformer, to get some other app. Not able to find that thread now...
Anyway, after rebooting, I searched for the Zinio app on the Market and voila, it was there!
Worked perfectly. Even managed to download a few mags (they have a 25 mags for free offer till June 15). It did not notice any weird problems with the Tab even though it was now pretending to be a Xoom!
The only problem i had was that Dolphin HD and Swype started crashing. Since I use Xscope, Dolphin HD was not a big issue. But Swype was.
So, i reverted to the original build.prop, rebooted and... well, the Zinio app had vanished! (Swype and Dolphin HD were back to normal, though).
To be clear, the Zinio icon had gone missing, even though the app was still showing up in the Applications list. Went to system/apps, copied over the Zinio app, reinstalled... but the Open button was greyed out.
Anyway, on to the second fix. Using the Samsung Reader Hub gave me the "newer version available" message. Which of course, was not available for download! So I deleted the Zinio app from system/apps and opened the Reader Hub again. Well, the Read Magazines link had an "Install" icon on it now. Tapping on it downloaded the latest version! Which did not throw up any errors and let me download magazines just fine.
So now I am on the original build.prop with the latest Zinio app. I suggest you try deleting it from system/app and reinstalling it from Reader's Hub. That should do the trick. As a last resort, use the Xoom build.prop trick.

YouTube and Google maps

I want to run Google maps and YouTube apps rather than the browser versions, but there is no option I can select like my p1000 had when I clicked a link. Any way to do this? The browser versions suck.

I have no trouble running the apps. In fact, I think it came with the YouTube app installed.

Yes they're both pre-installed it just doesn't goto the app when a YouTube link is pressed, it just plays it in the browser and no choice to use the app instead

I don't have my Tab at work, so I'll check when I get home, but I didn't think that they opened in the browser. Youtube may (I don't remember for certain), but I'm almost certain Google maps does not. Of course, I may have just be oblivious to it, so I'll have to check to be sure.

Have you tried updating or reinstalling the apps from the Marketplace?
Just took a closer look. Maps is a standalone app (I think it was around 30 MB). YouTube doesn't open in the normal browser, but i do think it's possibly just a link that opens the browser with certain functions disabled as it's only 68k, but doesn't have the normal browser menu options.

I don't think I am getting my message across clearly. This is an example. If you install a new browser and then do a Google search, it will then ask you which browser to open up the search with. This is how it is on my p1000 with map links and YouTube links when browsing and pressing links. On the p6200 it is not giving this option. It just runs them inside of the browser.

YouTube is pre-installed and not on the market here with Honeycomb. Maps is up to date and reinstalled. I just think its something usefull that has been removed from Honeycomb. Maybe Google think the web versions are just as good on honeycomb which I would disagree with.

Seems to only be from the browser. If I open a link outside of the browser it gives me the option for the apps..Its odd why they have made it this way.
OK, I did misunderstand you. I see what you're saying now, and I think mine does exactly the same thing. Not sure if there's an option to change that default behavior or not.

Weird. Mine works exactly as it should. When I click on a YouTube link from the Dolphin browser (don't use the stock browser), a pop-up will ask me what I want to open it with and the YouTube app is one of the choices. Same thing with Maps. Maybe it's a browser setting in your tablet? What browser are you using? Or is the problem that you have a non-US tablet model (different stuff set up for international models)?
Yes it's a browser issue, I use stock. I've tried dolphin browser and it works fine with links to external apps.

[Q] Strange app possible malware

I have found a weird app that I did not install on my app list in google play. When I click on it to open it it opens polaris office. I am afraid it is malware but I have never downloaded any app that isn't a known developer. I have avast running and it doesn't detect anything. I don't even visit any unusual sites so I don't know how I could have gotten a virus/malware. It only appears on my google play app list not on my settings > apps list.
I am rooted with viper, cwm 5.0.0.4 and using revolver 4 beta with the blades kernel.
screenshot is attached its at the bottom
Ok so I used android commander to remove the polaris office and now it went away. I think it must have been some error with the market/google play

This showed up for me as well after rooting with Viper. I'm sure its nothing.

.gif files dont play on my s3

all i see are the frozen image. running cleanrom 2.1 is this normal?
ok they work in the browser just not on apps like the chive. my bad
They work ok for me using Chrome, Dolphin HD, and stock Internet. I used this as a baseline, http://www.theverge.com/2012/9/23/3379494/on-the-verge-gif-contest , to test. Chrome performed the best and Dolphin HD and stock browser performed fairly slow. Do you have Flash installed? Maybe that is a reason for them not registering.

spectrum tv app will not run on rooted tf700t

So I have had my tf700t since about Jan and immediately rooted and installed 7.1.2 with custom recovery. installed spectrum tv app and it worked ok. The vid was always a little choppy.
recently the app gives me an error saying it will not work with a rooted device. ugh. I probably use that app more than almost any other as its nice way to check the guide. other than going back to stock what are my options? by the way, I have tried installing the app from the apk directly to the tablet and same issue.
Update: so now the app runs but will not display the video, and present same error message regarding device rooted. I guess I can live with this as I said before, I don;t typically watch shows on my tablet as the video is a little too choppy to watch which is a drag. But at least I can scroll the channel guide
Install an older version of the app and do not update
thanks, I will give it a try. very annoying when trying to navigate the lineup and every station that I select I get the "this app doesn't work if your rooted" pop up.
I use a app called Disable Service cn.wq.disableservice. Disable all background services, wipe cache and it works. This app also is good for disabling apps that force you to update the app. Older apps do work if the app cannot determine that it is outdated.
