Android Tablet with Infrared Receiver and Wifi Ad Hoc Possible? - General Questions and Answers

HI,
I have an idea want to ask if this can be done by using Android Tablet.
Hardware that needed:
1. IR Transmitter (custom make)
2. IR Receiver with USB port (buy from store if not find I can custom make)
3. Android Tablet
4. Mobile Phone Andriod/Iphone
Please check the attached picture. The Andriod Tablet is connecting with the IR receiver. Here is how it works:
1. The IR Tx sends a signal out
2. Once the IR Receiver received the signal
3. The Android Tablet will send a signal to the mobile phone by Wifi
4. Once the signal received by the mobile phone, the phone will process the signal code and find the corresponding sound clip then play the sound on phone speaker/headset
Is this gonna work by using Android Tablet?
I have some questions:
1. Android Table and the Mobile phone, are they able to connect using wifi peer to peer? If yes, what is the distance?
2. Is it possible the Andriod Tablet programming can control the "IR Receiver with USB port". If yes, where should be the key programming area should study?
3. Is it possible that the Mobile Phone Andriod/Iphone programming can be done of what I need?
Thank you for your help. Any advise is welcome.

[Q] How to make Android send data through USB port?

Hello,
I'm planning to do some dev stuffs in mobile's accessories hardware.
My idea is :
- I need an Android software install on my phone (actually I'm using HD2 running Android 2.2). For example : My software is simply a textbox with one button. When I click on the button, the software get the textbox content, encode it in to binary signal and send it toward the USB port of my phone
- I will make a circuit board to handle that binary signal, with a micro processor chip, I can convert that signal and show it on a LCD the content which I have just sent from my phone
I have some experience in Android software programming, but I'm stuck in sending signal through USB port in Android? So may someone here can help me with an example? or an suggestion of the library which I can use to open USB port?
Thanks in advance for your help
Did you get this to work? I am planning to use that same approach for controlling a PIC circuit that is connected via USB to the phone.
Unfortunately, I did not work it out =((
same problem
i have the same problem, i have to send a file by usb port. Im using ttyACM0 but its not working =/

[Q] Ascend 2 Android Bluetooth & .NET Mobilephone

Greetings everyone. I am having an issue with my Ascend 2. I am trying to connect my bluetooth to my carPC. The carPC uses 3DSP Mini PCIe Bluetooth/Wifi card installed into the machine. Originally these come USB but was integrated into the machine. I am using BlueSoleil to connect the phone to the PC. This software lists services available from the bluetooth device it connects to (Personal Area Network [PAN], Serial, Printing, etc...)
When I connect the phone to the PC I only get Object Push (vCards).
Does anyone know how to make more services available via bluetooth?
Im not even sure what service I need in order to dial out of my stereo (carPC), but I think it would be headset microphone.
Any ideas/custom ROM's I can use to establish dialing?

[Q]Setup the best TV Android experience

I want to be able to hook up my future Android handset to my TV and be able to use a bluetooth keyboard, and maybe a mouse.
What I would like to know is:
What phone that is available now that implements this well
What hardware I would need or may need to try out (such as an HDMI cable)
What software that would help this out if needed
What software would improve this type of experience
I have Sprint now, but may be looking to move to another carrier. I do not have a wireless router in my house, or any internet connection other than my phone. I would like to have a phone that runs Netflix very well.
Thanks!

[Q] PC - Android Internet Sharing via Bluetooth ?

Hey everyone !
So here's the problem : I've got a Nexus 7 + Galaxy S2 I727R that I'd like to use at work. I could tether the connection from my S2 to my tablet and use that but I'm not on unlimited data plan. I also know I can share my PC connection via Bluetooth but that'd need a specific software to be installed, in the lines of stuff like BlueSoleil. Considering I have no admin rights at workplace, is there any alternative that would permit me to share the PC connection via a Bluetooth dongle without installing a software ? The BT dongle is detected AND installed via Windows 7 but there is no BT icons in the bottom-right corner and there's no built-in BT-software on the computer.
I did my research on the PortableApps forum, which would be a decent option but I can't seem to find anything...
Anyone had any luck sharing Internet over BT on a workplace PC ?
Thanks.
P.S : Remember, no admin rights.
Sorry you can't use a BT dongle without some sort of bluetooth software installed
Yes there are bluetooth dongles which are plug and play, which don't need installing drivers, see these ones for example
BLUETOOTH ADAPTER DONGLE PC LAPTOP-PLUG "N" PLAY - UK
Tiny Plug & Play Bluetooth 2.0 USB Dongle 100m range
Mini Bluetooth Dongle for Computers and Laptops - Plug N Play Transfer Files
Problem is all of them support Bluetooth 2.0 not 2.1+EDR, please advise and please help find a bluetooth dongle which is plug and play and is designed for bluetooth 2.1+EDR
Thing is, even with the bluetooth dongle working you won't be able to share Internet connection through ICS without admin rights. If anyone has a workaround on this, it would be appreciated!! I'd like to use my S2 more at work, but with 250mb / month it's left unused most of the day =/

Windows RNDIS driver for Android?

So I ran into this problem recently after I installed an Android headunit into my car. The device can only receive internet one of two ways. Either I use my hotspot on my phone and connect to my phone's internet to allow my cars headunit to play music OR I use a 4G LTE USB dongle and attach it to my headunit directly. The problem with the second option is the following. When I plug the 4g LTE dongle into the USB port of the Android headunit, the device is not recognized. I know the device works because I've plugged it into my laptop and received internet no problem. I'm assuming this is because this particular USB dongle only operates using windows RNDIS driver. Since it seems there are very few products on the market (4g LTE USb sim dongles), the best solution I can come up with is maybe compiling an RNDIS driver for Android? The current dongle I have is the third one Ive purchased, the first two didn't work at all with my GSM sim. One was just faulty and the other for European Frequencies. I'm wondering if compiling a RNDIS driver for Android would even work in this case so that my car headunit can recognize and receive internet from the 4g LTE USB dongle.? Or if anyone knows of a dongle that works with gsm sims and works fine with android?
