[Q] Cheap ICS Tablet

Hey guys, looking to get a really cheap ICS tablet - original wanted to get a Ainol Nova 7 paladin, but found out that because of it's CPU, it is not compatible with most apps.
Wondering if it would be worth getting this:
512MB 4GB 7" Android 4.0 Capacitive Touch Tablet MID 1GHZ WiFi/ 3G Camera HDMI
(stick that in google - I am not able to post links yet)
or
www(DOT)ebay(DOT)com/itm/512MB-4GB-7-Android-4-0-Capacitive-Touch-Tablet-MID-1GHZ-WiFi-3G-Camera-HDMI-/160762504214?pt=US_Tablets&hash=item256e312416#ht_5492wt_986
Or if these chinese tablets tend to give problems.
What do you think? Are there any other tablets out there like the Novo 7, but with the ARM architect?
Thanks.
Depends on your price range, I guess, but there are usually HP Touchpads for sale all over eBay and you can easily run CyanogenMod9 on them.

I bought one of these, mainly for our 6 year old son, so that he would stop asking me for my phone. It runs great! Screen resolution is not the best, but good for what he does. Great for a reader, web browser, and email. Have not watched a movie on it yet. But, for the price, it's a good deal.
Asus models look very advanced. Have a look at their selection!

Ainol new 7" 4.0 tablet PC line $99 to $189.

I wanted to get a discussion going about this line of 7" ICS tablets *coming soon* from Ainol. Ainol is a budget chinese brand, but has been establishing a name for itself after becoming the manufacturer of the first ICS tablet. I have played with an older Ainol model, the Paladin, which has a pretty nice build quality to it, but the crippling factor was that it used a MIPS processor that was incompatible with a number of popular apps. This line of tablets uses ARM processors, so there shouldn't be any app compatibility issues. Here are the tablets with a list of key features. I've listed in green what the upgrades are from the previous model.
Tornado $99
Screen: 800x480
CPU: 1ghz Cortex A9
RAM 1GB
Memory: 8GB or 16GB(+$20)
Camera: 0.3MP front
Micro SD slot
Mars $129
Screen: 1024x600
CPU: 1ghz Cortex A9
RAM 1GB
Memory: 8GB or 16GB(+$20)
Camera: 0.3MP front
Micro SD slot
ELF II $149
Screen: 1024x600
CPU: 1.5ghz Dual Core Cortex A9
RAM 1GB
Memory: 8GB
Camera: 2.0MP front
Micro SD slot
Mini HDMI
Aurora II $189
Screen: IPS 1024x600
CPU: 1.5ghz Dual Core Cortex A9
RAM 1GB
Memory: 8GB
Camera: 2.0MP front
Micro SD slot
Mini HDMI
It appears that they should be getting the Tornado and Mars tablets very soon, but the Elf II and Aurora II will not be available until May according to what I've read. Spemall appears to be a fairly reliable seller of android tablets. You can see them interacting with customers on their facebook page and twitter . They have posted pictures of the tablets and spec sheets on their facebook page as well. You may want to wait to order until they have given confirmation that they have stock on hand.
I like the look of these tablets. They have a nice clean modern look with a solid piece of glass covering the front. Most cheap chinese tablets are fairly ugly and have raised borders over the screen. I would find it hard to spend $189 on the Aurora II, especially since I'm expecting to see a Google/Asus tablet with the same specs coming in July for $200. However, the first three seem reasonably priced to me.
If you want to get a better idea of what these are like, check out this set of video reviews for the original Aurora. I believe they are using the same case/build style as the original Elf/Aurora on these new tablets. Really, the only difference between the original Elf/Aurora and the Elf II/Aurora II is the dual core processor. You can get the original Aurora for $169.

I've got an Elf (original model)
Its pretty nice, build quality is a bit...cheap, there's some creaks in where the bezel connect to the back plate, and this thing is unusable when its really hot.
But it does have a nice dev community and if you're not happy with that, just use some ROMs for the Aurora, they're pretty much the same, save for the IPS display on the Aurora.
But, thy buy a tablet like his nowadays, when the Nexus7 just managed to massively outclass these Chinese tablets

$79.5 Tablet PC, whether it's worth?

I just have ordered a Tablet PC, but not pay it yet. because it is 7 Inch Capacitive Screen Android 4.0 and only $79.5 , free shipping
I do not know whether it's worth!
looking forward more ideas!
Can you say more about this tablet? What is CPU, GPU, RAM etc?
the review looks good
Model
ICOO D50 Deluxe Edition II

Mali 400 is very good GPU in this GPU you can run most games!
And CPU A13 1GHz is too very good for this price! You can in this tablet watch fullHD movies and i think web browsing in for example Opera Mobile would be nice
I've got one of these similar devices. Trust me, they might sound good, but they fall apart if you plan to use it extensively. Mine randomly doesn't install apps for some reason, I have to install apps 3 - 5 times before they will install correctly. Pathetic.
The deal-breaker would be 512Mb RAM and 4GB Storage. If there's no expendable storage, you shouldn't buy.
by the way, check this one out

Hmmmmm..the other specs seems too good for the price..but..the resolution seems tooooo low for a tablet. 480x800 looks good on only smartphones. It will look ugly on a 7 inch tablet

Tablet would be a good for development to test your apps. Not sure about daily usage though, might be a little janky......
That tablet sucks.
Cheapest tablet for the money is the Ainol Aurora. Anything cheaper will disappoint.

thanks, everyone!
this is one of the many models of the Chinese market. a 2-fold lower price it's a gimmick. Look on the characteristics of the tablet is mnogo.protsessor A13 is the cheapest right now.
There are a bunch of different models of the ICOO D50.
You have to read the specifications very carefully.
The one with 1024 x 600, HDMI out and 8 GB doesn't look bad.
Ainol Novo 7 Aurora II
Cortex A9 1.5 Ghz CPU, dual core Mali400 GPU, 7 inch LG IPS screen with 1024x600 resolution.

I can't post links yet
it depends on how you use it,don't expect it can work like ipad.
however the price is not good for this chinese tablet, maybe you can add a little to get a refurb. nook
good luck
here is a video of the tablet.... looks pretty good to me. main thing i worry about is the battery life.... 2600 ma.

[Q] Which chinese tablet? Quad-core, HD/retina, 2GB RAM, BT

I'll be shortly in China very soon and would like to grab a "deal-breaker" tablet. Please help me out, I have no clue which brand is popular enough to be supported at XDA and which model is expected to have less problems. I'm sure there are good ones, better build quality, that play nicely, don't crash, don't have HW/SW issues, etc. Some popular model!
I'd like:
- Quad-core A9 Rock 3188 or Exynos 4412 CPU,
- 10,1" or 9,7" HD/retina resolution 1920x1200 or 2048x1536
- 2GB RAM
- Bluetooth
- HW volume buttons
- sleek/thin design
- better battery (>7,500 mAh)
- smaller bezel if possible
- black or silver if possible
- USB charging as well, if possible
- case with a BT (full-size) keyboard that fits
Wishful thinking:
- XDA support (like ROMs, problems solving, tweaks, maybe even running Ubuntu on it)
- manufacturer's support in FW updates
Both formats are ok:
a) iPad format (4:3), retina (2048x1536): e.g. Visture V79HD, Cube U9GT5/U9GTV, Yuandao Vido N90 FHD, Pipo M6, Hyundai Play X900 , Freelander PD800, Ainol Novo9, Aoson M33
b) Nexus format (16:10), HD (1920x1200): e.g. Ramos W30HD (Samsung SoC), Cube U30GT2 (ugly), Huawei MediaPad 10 FHD (expensive)
- What model of the above would you recommend?
- Pipo M6 is a newcomer, just introduced!
- I like Visture V79HD the most (with BT keyboard), but the are no reviews on the net, no XDA topics, empty forum on Visture website. Scroll down for lots of pics:
http://www.aliexpress.com/item/2048...C-Visture-V97-HD-Rockchip-Quad/914676697.html
- Popular Pipo M9 is nice, but low-res.
Please be kind and suggest a model or two or three that fits! Thanks a lot!
The Samsung note 10.1 is a great tablet and has a thread on xda. Also the nexus 10 is good to. I think they both have 2 gb of ram but I could be wrong. The note has tons of case options. Not sure about the nexus. Either one is a good choice.
Press thanks if I've helped you!

^ Yeah, thanks, I know a lot about Samsung Tab and Nexus, I'm now looking for a Chinese tablet, since I'll be in China for short and can buy it cheap.
plz provide a section for pipo and cube and hynudai and other chinesse tablets
for full support and devolopment
Freelander PD800 HD
I have no experience with it from a software standpoint, but in my opinion, just by looking at specs and what would probably get you the most stability/bang for your buck would be the upcoming Freelander PD800 HD. The HD version specifically. It's going to have an Exynos 5250 (the same SoC as in the Nexus 10) so the weird choppiness and lag spikes and battery issues the Rockchip/Allwinner chips have is going to be avoided. It also has a retina display as per the original Freelander PD800. You can go check it out on Geekbuying. Kind of want one myself.
My two cent's
Pipo M6.
Got mine a little more than a week ago and am very happy with it.

I got Pipo M8 Pro which works like a charm, not bulky & more stylish than M6. I played with both but finally choose M8 pro. It does not have a Retina display but I don't mind even though I have Full HD display on my smartphone. I'm using ROM (FW) with SDK 2.0 upgrade for RK3188. Smooth & nice.
However, I also think M6 is a very good deal, especially after releasing SDK upgrade.
