I think i got softbrick. I flashed cwm 6.0.1.0 recovery via mobile odin and then flashed cm10. I decided to go back to stock rom and flashed latest russian ics firmware via odin. I get samsung logo and screen wont go any further. Reflashed, didn't help. I am not sure if it is a good idea to wipe data in stock recovery. Any help appreciated.
How did you wipe/factory reset? Or did you flash straight over stock?
I don't think it's a good idea to wipe in stock recovery. Try to wipe in Cwm and then try to flash with Odin pc, maybe that will work.

Same as me a few weeks ago,so i decide to flash hc 1st using odin1.85, wipe data and after that flash ics. Because i want to let go this tablet so all data will totaly wipe using hc stock recovery, It worked.
What i can understand here, this happen only if we want to downgrade. I've try ics to hc, jb to ics, all will stuck at samsung logo until we wipe the data.
If u don't want lost your data next time for downgrade, Im also try downgrade from cm10(Jb) to ics with the safest way, everything is good for me. Using mobile odin, put you firmware package as usual than check the recovery and select the recovery.img(Cwr). Flash them together, the result u will get the ics+cwr. So you can wipedata through CWR without worrying will brick your tab from ics stock recovery. Bonus, all my game, app data still there..
Yeahhh..

Yup...That one more easily, but need to use temporary cwr(Touch) too right?, the way my tab brick is when wipe using that cwr hehe. At the time the 1st ics firmware release, i flash the ics austria and want to root. In the forum they say got brickbug when wipe using stock recovery just only wipe using cwr. So okay, thing i understand that. So the temporary cwr(Touch) maybe can wipe? After wipe my tab brick..Huh..So i ask aorth, he explain to me actually our tab have emmc cap erase brickbug and happen when wipe, so he tell cwr6.0.1.0 already disable for that. So what i can understand not all cwr are save. For those already know this issue u can just use any method to flash, Afraid if accidently wipe using that cwr, so i choose to avoid it. Just give caution for people who are totally new with this tab and want to root/Cwr/Flashing custom rom..
Thanks to fouzudeen to describe the method into one post to make it easier to people to refer. From me, just wanted to share my experience how to brick my tab and change new board..Haha..

Yes, do that again. Boot into Download mode(Batt pull to turn the phone off) then hold vol down+home+power till the prompt comes up.
Flash the root66 image using Odin from there.

I can just flash 66 as is? Don't have to flash a stock unrooted version first like you do when you brick?
Do you have any idea why this could have happened? I did everything it said on the page and even watched an installation video for the ROM following every step by step instruction. What the hell does formatting system, data, and cache do in recovery? Never had done it before and as soon as I did my phone just messed up. Also, if I flash 66 using odin will my old backups work again?

Cool thanks. Flashing 66 now through odin. My backups have worked fine before (the exact same ones that just failed). Once this is finished and I test out my backups (assuming they work) how should I go about reflashing JellyWiz? Should I format the system, data, cache again or just do the normal wipes? I'm afraid formatting will mess it up again. Is CWM inferior to TWRP? Thinking about using a different recovery after all of this.

I personally use cwm and to me it's more a matter of preference. I too have had a error restoring backups once and it was after a system wipe. A word of advice, because this saved me, keep a ROM on your SD card at all times to be able to just flash in an emergency.

I think you missed my point, at this point he needs Odin. However, if you keep a zip on your SD card then if your backups gasp like his situation he can just fish that zip. It was simply some advice for future reference, were not all next to a computer ask the time. For people like me that just get an urge to flash it helps to have backups like this.

I don't know why they are suggesting it but it doesn't do anything beyond the normal factory reset and then the zip formatting system itself.
Its just the manual way of doing what a clean flash does.
Why are people having issues restoring nandroids after doing this? Apparently bootlooping occurs after format/jb install/restore previous nandroid.

if im not mistaken formatting the system deletes the rom/kernel itself...normal factory reset from cwm recovery only deletes rom data/cache.

i wonder why i had to format system to get the latest jellywiz rom to not hang on galaxy s splash screen? it makes no sense.
Also, how does a format not erase your nandroids? It should also wipe titanium backups if they are not on your external. Am I wrong on that? Could formatting lose certain bits of info that the nandroid may not have partitioned, and that's why the restores are not working correctly?

Aight cool, as long as you backed up your IMEI using this method then you're free to flash whichever rom you want. Do you have a custom recovery installed, such as ClockWorkMod? If not, download EZ Recovery from the Play Store and select flash recovery for CWM 6.x. Once down reboot into recovery and perform a Nandroid backup.
If you have down all the above already, disregard it. I haven't used Rom Toolbox so I will give you my download process as if I'm dowloading the rom from xda.
For Cyanogenmod
1) Download CM10 as well as the respective GApps (google apps)
2) Boot into recovery:
-format data
-wipe cache
-Go into Advanced/Format Dalvik Cache
3) Now flash the rom, just select "Choose Zip from Sd Card), install the CM10 rom zip.
4) Install the GApps zip
5) boot into the rom and you should be good to go

If you don't...there's a chance you might lose it and the you won't have your mobile data on your phone. Plus its more of a pain in the ass to restore it than back it up. Do yourself a favor and back it up..it isn't that difficult and can save you a ton of time in the long run..and possibly future posts on how to recover it.

You don't have to, but some people have lost IMEI (hasn't happened to me personally) and if you don't have a backup you can end up in permanent roaming mode as I understand it.
The backup is easy to do (I did A and B, didn't bother with C) and buys you some peace of mind.

Yes, you absolutely have to back-up your IMEI before you flash ANYTHING. The reason the IMEI is important is basically because it ties your phone to the carrier's network. If your IMEI is lost, you will essentially have a brick in your possession (no calls, no data, nothing). Right now, if you look under Settings/About Device and scroll down to IMEI, you will see a set of numbers. If this is "lost" it will read either 0 or some other set of numbers and you won't like the restore process to recover and reconnect your phone to Verizon's network. The Comprehensive IMEI/EFS Backup steps take a minute to do in comparison to the headache and lengthy process it will take to restore your phone to working order.
I think you should do some reading there before you flash and understand why it's important. It's explained fairly well and clearly even for novices.
Also, here's a link to DroidStyle's Guide to everything important on the GSIII.

R u try flash to HC ?
** If u flashed and found a boot-loop after flash HC, please follow up latest post.
Halp!
Good timing, i have a similar problem.
I was at ICS 4.0.4 rooted then decided to downgrade to HC stock to back it up (since ICS is buggy).. I flashed using odin 3v1.85 using a single file PDA: P6200DXKL3_P6200OLBKK8_P6200DXKK5_HOME.tar.md5. After flashing HC, I'm stuck at bootloop.
Then I have no choice than to flash it up from there, since I can still access recovery 3e.. Firstly i flashed CWM 6 using odin, then tried to update CM10 from my external sdcard. Then this error shows up
Installing: /emmccm-10-20120904-UNOFFICIAL-p6200.zip
Finding update package...

BTW I wiped data and cache using CWM. I accidentally formatted the sdcard my real objective is to mount it then I didnt notice.
oyea, tried flashing it using touch cwm, it worked but it boot loops..then i tried acessing recovery but it just went off, and i cant turn it on.
Good thing when i charge it on an outlet the screen goes on then i went to Downloadmode again. I reflashed it back to HC via odin.
NOTE: ( MY tab is ruinned. now the screen won't turn on, only when I'm charging it as previously stated. The only thing i can access is download mode
Thanks in advance :crying: I'm at lost
I have a experiences like this. I try entered to download mode and re-flash my tab to HC with Odin then reboot a device and wipe all user data.
Finally, I'm on CM10. :victory:
Flashing back to ICS fixed the bootloop, then from there it's history!
Though I forgot to copy the cwm backup of my ICS before formatting the sdcard. Now it's gone :silly: . Anyway, it's nice to start off from scratch.
Can someone tell me how to go back to stock HC/ICS from ICS from CM10 without the nandroid backup? Just in case some problems will occur in the future. Thanks!

Hope can, so here the step.
Try flash hc using odin1.85, put the firmware package to pda, check the re-partition. Select pit and put .pit file and flash.
It worked for me.
Get the pit file under 'dyelen' name from below link, download & unzip.

Try 1st, hope work on u too..
How to flash cm10? Here the drill.....
1. Root. Download the supersuv0.94.zip from below link and save to externalsdcard, Turn to recovery mode/ Choose update from sdcard and flash supersu v0.94.zip:
http://www.google.com.ph/url?sa=t&r...zoHgDA&usg=AFQjCNFyqHRhzKdNa_kvZPRsaep-6XEt9g
2. Clockworkmod recovery- the most important thing if want flash cm10, u need the cwr. Download the recovery mode .img from aorth.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=29077817
,rename to recovery.img and save on external sdcard. U can flash recovery using heimdall or mobile odin, i prefer mobile odin. Download mobile odin.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=19375402
check the recovery select your recovery.img from external sdcard and flash. Wait until it reboot to the recovery. Before u flash any rom please make backup to internal sdcard & Try to restore 1st to makesure your nandroid backup work. Also backup using go backup or titanium backup. If your nandroid backup getting weird this optional to get your data back.
3. Backup call log and sms. Please backup to external sdcard just change the backup folder in setting. This very useful to restore back your log & Sms after your flash new rom.

Flash new rom

happy flashing...
Do With Your Own Risk. And Don't Wipe Data using Ics stock recovery or temporary cwr. Since they detected have emmc brickbug and cause hardbrick. Hardbricks mean totally brick, only JTAG or change main board your last hope.

Hope can, so here the step.
Try flash hc using odin1.85, put the firmware package to pda, check the re-partition. Select pit and put .pit file and flash.
It worked for me.
Get the pit file under 'dyelen' name from below link, download & unzip.

I'm on Paranoid Android 2.50 (Androi 4.1.2), coming from Android 3.2.
Onething that I'd like to share is you should flash a cusstom rom wwhen you're on Android 3.2. Some friends of mine used the stock Android 4.0 then flashed CM10 or Paranoid and their devices bricked.
although very beautiful and fluid is still immature has many bugs that I at least I consider fundamental for me ... for example, does not read the external sd ... not the video player does not read the pen drive .... well you would for hands just a phone and not a very large smartphone / tablet sfuttare in full ... I have uninstalled immediately expect a more complete version ... more well known problems and then decide to suit your needs if you install it or not. hello ..

Can some body help me please.I am trying to install cm10 rom and i get this message E:Error in /Eternal _sd/cm-10 (status) installation aborted. Please helpme
Hello...
I saw that many users have a hard time flashing official roms using ODIN, and since Samsung and AT&T released their official JB UCMC1 and many users reported bootloops following the successful flash, here's a good approach I always use to avoid any problems in and/or following the flash procedure..
1.Since most of us are using custom recoveries, and they offer much superior functionally, boot into your custom recovery (doesn't matter what, cwm or TWRP).
2.DO A NANDROID BACKUP before you do anything to your external sdcard.
3.Wipe data/factory reset..
4.Format system/data/cache
5.If you have no external sdcard SKIP THIS STEP,plus this is optional (I prefer and do) : Format internal sd card..(I know many "smart" guys will jump here saying no need
(Of course my backups are on external sdcard..)
6.Now you're almost completely wiped and ready..
7.Power off your device.
8.Hold vol. up AND down simultaneously AND connect your OEM usb cable..
9.Now you're on Download mode..
10.Proceed with ODIN flash..
And now you can flash perfectly fine and without any chance of bootloop or and fear of previous rom leftovers..
Moreover, in case of any other emergency (not related to the above steps), and since boot and recovery partitions are still intact, you can power off, reboot to recovery and restore a previous nandroid if necessary..
Hope this might help.
Thanks

here is a better tip, flash mohan's odex or deodex ucmc1 through CWM or TWRP and skip odin.

Would you please post the link to that ? does it say how to (or suggest) wipe before you ODIN ?

If you odin you wipe everything, including any custom recovery No need for all the Mickey mouse.

Why do you suggest internal? Don't you know that's where most apps default to save. Including pictures, music etc.

Why do you think bootloops occur after flashing stock rom using odin ?

That's why you do a factory reset in the stock recovery after flashing in odin if you get a boot loop.

Good, having to go to stock recovery after a bootloop to do factory reset proves the theory that leftovers from your previous roms flashes are there( in /data and /cache...because those are the 2 partitions that will be wiped after factory reset) and needs to be cleaned...And provided that stock recovery doesn't allow system wipe,it's not better than doing those wipes BEFORE you flash (and at that time before you ODIN you have a better recovery that can wipe all partitions)
Any informed computer use would agree that cleaning is done before you install(and not the other way around, because it would be stupid)..
Thanks buddy..

Huh? Dude, get your facts straight, ODIN is NEVER official nor will ever be . The problem is posts like this noobs take and pollute dev threads. The only thing OFFICIAL is via Sammy OTA update or Kies (unless it came preinstalled).. and no sammobile is NOT official...where is xcrazydx

Aren't the tar stock roms were taken from kies cache in windows(i.e. during a kies update) and then uploaded ?
