[Q]: Compiling tun.ko? - General Questions and Answers

Hello
I have a Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830D from Koodo Mobile. I am completely unable to find the kernel or a tun.ko for it.
My kernel is 2.6.35.7-perf-CL568978 on Gingerbread 2.3.4 .
Where can I find the tun.ko or the kernel so I can compile it myself. I really need to use OpenVPN.
I've tried several versions of tun.ko but they all fail to enable
insmod: init_module '/system/lib/modules/tun.ko' failed (Exec format error)

Alright so I downloaded my device's kernel, the SDK and the NDK, followed this tutorial:
http://www.ostalks.com/2011/03/21/how-to-compile-tun-ko-for-android-commtiva-z71/
No luck, still getting the same error...why? It should work now shouldn't it?

[I9003 & KPH] Need cifs.ko & slow-work.ko modules

Hello,
sorry if this is not the appropriate area to post a request...
Do we have some dev here who can do a favor and upload the modules matching XXKPH kernel:
cifs.ko
slow-work.ko
which are needed to get a stock XXKPH ROM for the I9003 working with CifsManager?
My 9003 is rooted but I cannot load cifs.ko using insmod. Always get 'exec format error'...
Thanks so much in advance!!!!!!
Best regards,

I'm am root, of course (or there would be no reason nor way to use openvpn itself) i'm just using stock rom intead of other flavors.
all other tun.ko i found are not working because of a different kernel version number. mine again, is:
2.6.36.3-00010-g3139c20

[Q] Galaxy tab 2 10.1 tun.ko for vpn question

I have a galaxy tab 2 10.1. I want to get a vpn client (F5) running, but I need the tunnel module. I rooted the tablet, and have tun.ko installer on it, but there's no tunnel module available. So i thought I'd compile my own since I use linux on my pc, but I'm having trouble finding the source for the kernel. tun.ko installer says my system is:
model: gt-p5113
build number: IML74K.P5113UEALD7
Android version: 4.0.3
Kernel version: 3.0.8-396106-user
Does anyone know where I can find the source for the kernel? I tried http://android.git.kernel.org, but I didn't see it.
Thanks.
You could personal message cheatman about it (see this thread).
thanks. cheatman provided me this info:
Code:
The samsung code for the P5113 can be found here: http://opensource.samsung.com/
I can't give you a direct link because of the site JS codes, but do a search for "p5113" and it should turn out a single result.
i got the source code and the ARM cross compiler, but according the directions i found, the next step is i need to get the config.gz file off the tablet, but that file doesn't exist. anyone know what i could do about that? thanks again.
still can't find the tunnel module or config.gz, anyone have any ideas on how i can get this working? thanks

[Q] Asix AX8872

Hi, I am trying to add the Asix AX88772 driver to my note 10.1 but i always get errors. Can someone create usbnet.ko and axis.ko with the driver on it to be used in the stock rom 4.4.2 N8010XXUDNE4 with stock kernel?
Or a stock kernel but with the drivers installed?
Thank you so much

Hi, for a request like this, you should also provide links to sources to be more helpful
to any who wish to help you. Also, posting the relevant portion of your compile log with respect to the "error"
as well as what steps you took to add that support would be good.

Hi, ok sorry for the poor info.
I used this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2131825 to make the files.
The error i get it on the tablet (exec format error) while i am trying to load usbnet.ko
The kernel source is here http://opensource.samsung.com/reception/receptionSub.do?method=sub&sub=F&searchValue=8010.
This one "N8010XXUDNE4 GT-N8010_EUR_KK_Opensource.zip"
I used all the toolchains of the tutorial and some others of 2010 but they always say the same "exec format error". The kernel source says to use a 2010q1/arm-none-linux-gnueabi-gcc. I only find the codesourcery one but it says the same.
Thank you for the help and sorry if i write someting wrong, english is not my first language.
