[Q] Roms and Kernels for the villec2 ( Snapdragon S3 processor) - HTC One S

Hey guys i just installed Trickdroid 2.1.0 for my villec2. HTC One S with the S3 processor. I just wanted to know i there are kernels which i can use other than the one coming with Trickdroid, The one with this rom is the stock one and cannot be overclocked. And the rom is not customisable like any other custom ROM.
Are there kernels for the VilleC2? If there are please let me know. Im gettting the feeling HTC ripped me off. Any other tweaks, addons, would also be welcomed.
If any dev is viewing this please please please please!! give us some love too.

Didnt help but anyway...

What i did was unlocking the bootloader on htcdev website. Then using fastboot commands flashed a recovery. Then flashed a superSU zip through recovery . Then NAND backup and flashing of ROM. Then flashing boot.img using fastboot commands. And yeah India :good:

Hey did you manage to lay your hands on the Indian RUU. I have the 2.09 Hboot. I made a NANDROID on before flashing Trickdroid 4.0 but went on boot loop. That also locked my SD so had to format it and lost my Stock. I have the European RUU but had CID issues. Any advice on how to move on to 4.0.4
Needless to say I have the S3.

[Q] [HELP] Flashing roms/ics/firmwares etc..

im lovin the roms that are out for this phone and ive been reading the how to's and noob threads,im not so much of a noob at flashing roms as i did flash lots of roms before but considering as im new to the htc sensation im alil confused on how to be flashing roms for this phone
i see lots and lots of firmwares and radios idk whats what.. i want to flash a sense 3.6 or sense 4.0 rom with ics i did try one but it got me to a bootloop.. i do have s-off and i am rooted.. i flashed this [ROM][Sense 4.0][MAR.25] OrDroid 1.7.2 | Fast & Stable .. it got to boot animation then bootloop
my question is what will i need to flash roms for this phone.. firmwares/radios ect.. yes i know s-off and root which i already have,im running completly stock just with s-off and root

Ok heres the best aosp setup.
Virtuous inquisition 4.
For sense ics roms id go with mike1986 arhd 6.5.3 rom.
So what u need to do is root ur sensation
Supercid
Flash 4ext recovery. Its an apk and easy to do
Upgrade ur firmware to 3.32. Flash in bootloader.
Need mike1986 superwipe script
Rom of your choice.
Boot into recovery. Flash the superwipe. Then flash ur rom. Quick run down of what you need to do.
Skill required? Not much. The hardest part might be using adb and fastboot commands for the supercid. Other than that its easy as pie

thanks so much,so now the supercid i read up on it while requiring s-off and root thats alil confusing but ill read up on it again and the superwipe ive been seeing that on rom threads "flash superwipe" what is that and where would i get it?
and i need a big help,i tried upgrading my firmware to 3.32 and it said "wrong cid" "fail" now its stuck on the htc logo and bootloops help please :'(
Superwipe is down toward the bottom of OP of this thread. It leaves you with a very very clean phone. So no apps, no user data, no ROM. You'd want to have a nandroid backup at the very least before superwiping, as well as titanium backup for your apps etc. You just flash superwipe from recovery like a ROM (install .zip from sdcard).
Sounds like you've got hold of the wrong firmware for your CID. So you either need to know your CID (if you've got your head around adb and fastboot commands, "fastboot getvar cid" will get that for you) and find the right firmware, or supercid your phone so you can use any firmware. Go to this thread for firmware.
For your firmware there's a file,
android.txt, that has a list of CIDs. The T-Mobile CID usually isn't in it. If you do the superCID you shouldn't have to worry about it. Other wise you have to open the file located in the PGM581000 file and add CIDT-MO010 to the txt file. Either way make sure you delete the PGM file immediately after you flash it.
Sent from my HTC Sensation ICS 4.0.3 ARHD 6.5.3XE. Rockin'
Go to the dev thread for ROMs, ARHD is my preference. Good directions and all the files you need linked right there. Well most ROM threads are that way but this ROM and firmware are smooth and flawless.

This is misleading and not really true. First of all, VI is not true AOSP but Sense with most of the obviously sense parts removed. Secondly OpenSensation CM9 is hands down the best true AOSP rom and now that it has bluetooth and 1080p camcorder there's virtually no reason to use a senseless sense rom like vi.
to everyone that has tried to help me on this, THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH! giving me all the infos and quick break downs..
now i do have my phone up and running again but heres what i did..
when i learned that you need to upgrade your firmware to flash ics roms
i went to here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1412618 and i downloaded Firmware from 3.32.401.x & 3.32.401.10x RUU and renamed it to PG58IMG.zip i booted up to hboot and when it read the image file it said "wrong cid" "fail" i tried to boot up the phone normally after and it got stuck on the htc logo then bootlooped from there.. i did have a stock backup but flashing that over didnt work still had the same htc logo bootloop, i still had [ROM][Sense 4.0][MAR.25] OrDroid 1.7.2 | Fast & Stable saved to my sdcard so i tried to flash that to see what would happen and got the same result i then went to here.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459767 and downloaded firmware 3.32 Unlocked and renamed it to PG58IMG.zip booted up into hboot it did its thing but this time it successfully flashed.. i booted the phone back up and the rom and phone successfully booted up completly. now im running on [ROM][Sense 4.0][MAR.25] OrDroid 1.7.2 | Fast & Stable as my rom and im just lovin it! but at this point im kinda scared to flash anything else as i do have it booted up i dont wanna mess anything up again lol

in the second link i downloaded the t-mobile unlocked 3.32 firmware, i just checked the modelid: PG5813000 which matched mine so i went for it..
i have one more question though..the supercid can i do that while running on a custom ics rom or it doesnt matter? will it still work regardless?

CID is carrier identification. The thread you downloaded your T-Mobile firmware from contains firmwares for a variety of CIDs, in other words, specific to whichever carrier your phone came from. SuperCID removes that form of 'branding' and allows you to flash any firmware file, if you look through the list of firmware they can all be flashed to a device with CID 11111111. So essentially we superCID for convenience.
SuperCID has no bearing on what ROMs you can flash, the only consideration is that a particular ROM will require a certain firmware, eg. ICS ROMs need 3.12 base or higher.

Almost. SuperCID and custom recovery you can do no worries. Firmware upgrade will depend on what stock ROM is currently installed, if you flash firmware that your stock ROM isn't compatible with you will get bootloops and most likely have to downgrade. So personally I wouldn't be looking to upgrade firmware until you intend to flash a ROM that requires it. At that point you'll want a custom recovery anyway so it won't hurt to install that now.

Thanks. I'm currently on the T-Mobile Sensation 4G stock ROM S-Off/Rooted. Will going to the 3.32 firmware wipe the stock ROM or cause bootloops for sure?
I also have ClockWork Recovery from a really long time ago. Using ROM Manager to flash a new recovery (trying to update) does nothing. Why does that happen? Perhaps my recovery is too old?

I'm would assume your 4G would already be running ICS? In which case you probably already have up-to-date firmware installed. The firmware update generally applies for people coming from GB to ICS. Go to Settings/About Phone/Software Information/More/Build Number and see what numbers you have there.
Flashing firmware will not wipe your ROM, the worst that will happen is bootloops if the firmware and ROM aren't compatible.
The recovery you have now shouldn't stop you from flashing a new one, instead of using ROM Manager try downloading 4ext from the Play Store and see how that goes.

if you can get into fastboot you can relock the bootloader and should be able to ruu, also belongs in General, not development

You want to flash a tmobile ruu, there's a dedicated thread which stores all ruus.
I don't remember if you need to relock before using the ruu, be sure to check that out.

[Q] Which ROM's should i install?

Hi everybody. I recently bought a HTC One S z560e it says on the box.
I documented on wikipedia and that is the S3 processor variant.
My question is that: S4 roms will work on s3(i doubt they don't coz of CPU architecture), i have seen some ROM's(threads) in which the developer doesn't specify whether is an s3 or s4 ROM.
I have also seen the HTC One S C2 variant.. what is that?
I know that the codename for htc one s is "ville" but i have also seen "ville2".. which one is the s3 variant?
Tnx in advance!

hi. s4 roms will definnetly not work on your device. you need to look for roms designde for the s3 processor. as you were wondering, the s3 process variant of htc one s is also called htc one s c2 or villec2. any rom that is compatible with any of these names is good for your device.
but....you should first root your device. good luck
Thanks for quick-answer. I managed to root my device and now i am trying to install hboot 2.15 for 2.4 kernel (link:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=42540922) but unfortunately i can't manage to install coz it says can't pass signature verification. hmm

This is not a kernel for your device.
Here you will find everything: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=2138
I have another question then.. The Hboot needs to be updated in order to make 3.4 kernel based roms to work? or how can i find what hboot version i have? in bootloader mode it says that i have 3.0.0 but i don;t think i'm looking where i need to.
The bootloader you have written HBOOT.
Here are kernels: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2402148
And how i install the kernel? in recovery mode?
Yes, through recovery + boot.img via fastboot
and how i write? "fastboot flash recovery boot.img"?

I wrote by mistake fastboot flash recovery boot.img... the phone rebooted but wi-fi wasn't working so i gone back to fastboot and i reinstalled recovery properly then i "fastboot flash boot boot.img" now my phone is stuck at htc one logo..
However i managed to do a backup earlier, i entered recovery restored the whole backup but it stays the same.... what should i do?
Any guide to reinstall stock ROM? to get a fresh start?
Tnx in advance!
If you are able to get into ur custom recovery, all should be under control...
I was in the same situation as you when I rooted my phone and went for custom ROMs... Here is what I did...
1. Confirmed that I have indeed an S3/villeC2 phone.
2. Confirmed that I have minimum HBoot version required for the ROM mentioned below.
3. Went into Thread for Luxandroid ROM and installed the ROM as per instructions. Luxandroid is the ROM almost same as stock.
4. From within the downloaded Luxandroid ROM zip, I extracted boot.img file, connected my phone to pc, booted in fastboot usb mode... And flashed the extracted boot.img with 'fastboot flash boot boot.img' command.
On booting into system, my phone came alive.
Also know that the HBOOT version you see in 'bootloader' window, is related to your phone firmware. You can't update it by flashing kernels. It has to be through RUU and/or OTA updates released by HTC. (google for more)
A boot.img, contains the kernel, which should match the ROM you have or have recently installed. Else your phone will either keep constantly restarting or will get stuck in HTC One S screen.
You should also know that If you are S-On, when you recover a back up from TWRP, you will have to flash the related boot.img from PC as well. If you are S-Off, you need not.
Viper C2 | Liberty Sense V4 | S-Off
I have Hboot 3.01 and i am not quite sure how do i downgrade.
Why do you want to downgrade HBOOT?
Hboot 2.09 - Android 4.0.3
Hboot 2.11 - Android 4.0.4
Hboot 3.01 - Android 4.1.1
I didn't wanted to express downgrade..... it don't work(4.1.1 ROM) that's why i asked for a downgrade... now i am trying to install Luxandroid from the site with bulletproof kernel v1.2
Good choice :good:
Btw.. i read that the word TAMPERED need to be above ***UNLOCKED***, but i dont have that word, any means?
Tampered be the model of S4 processor.
You have UNLOCKED bootloader, ROOT and RECOVERY?
I don't know if the phone is rooted right now.. i have twrp that is on the luxandroid site(2.3.3.0)
I have done everything it says, dow it says on luxandroid site. How much should it take to boot?
Booting from 10 to 15 min.
During installation you follow the instructions?
yes i followed but i think i will start again because i installed the boot.img from luxandroid archive..
At the kernel install, i install the zip in recovery then in fastboot boot.img, after this i must install again the zip?

[Q] ROm Flashing issue

Hello,
I am trying to flash CleanRom 7.0 or any JB rom on my HTC One X (AT&T) but always gets stuck in bootloop (phone does not go past boot screen after flashing). This is what i have done.
The phone is on AT&T 1.82 stock room (rooted, SuperCID, S-Off). The phone was on some older HBoot version so I upgraded it to 2.15. Radio is 0.17.32.09.12. And I have TWRP recovery.
So I made a nadroid backup in recovery and than tried to install AT&T 3.82 rooted (downloaded from XDA, may be without radio and all). After successful flashing when I tried to reboot the system it got stuck on AT&T boot screen. So I rebooted in recovery and wiped everything. After that I tried to install CleanROM 7.0 R2 and same thing happened and even I tried latest elemental kernel but same thing is keep happening.
Can you please help me with this?
Thanks
At&t 3.82 rooted ROM? Where did you download that? It doesn't look familiar. What are your bootloader details? Which version of TWRP? How did you upgrade your hboot?

Hey,
Thanks for reply. Sorry I think I mis-wrote it. It's AT&T 3.18 ROM from following link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2181891
I will check and let you know TWRP version when I get back home. I am not sure about the bootloader details either, what you need to know about the boot loader to help me?
I upgraded hboot by upgrading firmware to 2.15 by using instructions at one of the threads at xda (using adb and fastboot commands and pushing a 2.15 zip to device when it is in bootloader).
Note that I was never able to install any custom ROM on HTC One X. I rooted it before a year or so tried to install CleanROM 5.1 (I guess) but it din't work. I also tried few other ROMs but nothing worked and I gave up. Recently I read that I may need to update Hboot to flash the ROMs. So I did it (had a hard time installing drivers on windows 8 and ultimately have to try winXP!). Still after all this it is not working.
Let me know if you can suggest something based on this.
Thanks

One more thing, I am using TWRP to flash the ROM. Is it a correct way? or I need to flash it using fastboot commands (like you suggested for boot.img)?
I am not much fammilier with TWRP and HTC One X so.

K so if you are s-off then you can just flash it. If you wernt then you would need to flash boot.img. now you can try to flash the boot.img. it might not fix it but start small and work up.

TWRP is the correct way to install ROMs, but I have a feeling that your current version of TWRP is your problem. Some (2.4.x, 2.5.x) are buggy and have major problems. If your TWRP version is either of those that I've just mentioned you can update it to a known bug-free version like this:
Download the modified version of TWRP*2.6 from here. Put the file in your fastboot folder. Connect phone in fastboot mode, open command prompt from within fastboot folder, issue the following commands:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery "filename.img"
(the exact filename, minus the talking marks)
Code:
fastboot erase cache
Code:
fastboot reboot-bootloader
