Hey guys!
Im running Viper rom 1.1.1 and I was reading through some of the other forums and I saw that they had a google now update that now includes movie times and emergency events which are both things I would love to have.
I really like google now and the voice commands work amazingly for me. The sports cards also work fine after flashing to viper rom.
Do you guys know where I can get the newest version that is ported to ICS? I have searched for days now and have yet to find anything than what I have. Some other member said to simply get it from someone and push the JB version to my phone but I highly doubt that will work, if not mess up my phone somehow haha.

Yea, I tried that. When I go to the play store and search for "google search" it doesnt even come up.
Below is the said updated version. Im just looking for ways to update it but in no way want to switch to a JB rom just to have it. Viper rom is too good haha

I rooted the phone and flashed the ROM. I am looking to get Android market and figure out how to sync my contacts with GMAIL. I am very new to this and actually didn't really want to do it, but why not. I need all kinds of help.
Any help is appreciated.

The best advice I can give you, being pretty new myself, is to search the forum every question has been asked 12 times atleast. And the people here are extremely helpful. From my knowledge I would search for a Google addons zip and flash it. But I could be wrong.

Download the GApps file and flash it to your phone just like you did the ROM, and the Google Apps will all be there
I was able to get what I needed. Now, I am all set. Next is themes. Thanks guys

Make sure you keep the gapps file for future use. ROMS built from source cannot have googles proprietary files included.

i flashed a rom cm7 but i dont have the smartshare... and it would be nice to have apps from other devices to work on my g2x

Hello everyone this is my first time starting a thread on this forum so hello, anyways I just switched form iPhone to the Skyrocket, and am enjoying it, I switched because I wanted something to make my own and android seemed the route to go. Anyways, I just wanted some input on rooting and what the best ways to do so on a Mac. A couple months ago I rooted a EVO for a friend so I have some knowledge, but would still like some input and any tips that I could get.

Welcome to ROcket world man. I switched from iPhone too but i had i777 for like 2 weeks and than i727. You must read this once so you know what we are talking about. Its all in one noob guide. And make sure to flash t989 cwm through rom manager. Don't flash anything else unless it says it will work with i727. T-mobile SGS2 aka t989 is very similar to our phone so mostly everything there you can flash except kernel. Because with t989 kernel you will get rotation issue. Let us know if you got any question.

Thanks for the info it was really useful. I had a question though, The last part after, Flashing the kernel. Is that to complete the whole process or is that if you had any problems, and needed to go back to stock. Sorry if thats a noob question, but I just want to make sure.

No that will get you back to stock and it will unroot you. Don't need to do that. And appreciate about you hitting thnx button.

Nice, Ok before I take the plunge. I just plug my device in and the script will run, is there anything else I need to download before doing so, I noticed that the mac script didn't show the apk used?

Just dload samsung kies and install that. Its there in my noob guide if you read.

okay since Im using mac I found that I dont need driver, but What do I use to run the script?
Use terminal to run the script. I have mac too but used window for rooting

U see, i just bought this phone brand new (didn't get it), and the seller (store) said it's running Gingerbread. I asked him - didn't it get ICS? He said - "i have no idea".

yes, mostly. not all have gotten it yet though. but officially its out. you can flash the official ics manually if you want, you dont need root to do it.

No problem bud! I never knew why it wasn't available on the Vzw variant from the beginning but I'm glad to have it back!
very glad to see this in the play store. now they can update it more. They added the one finger double tap to zoom, been waiting for this on this browser for some time.

some reason tried to install this to no avail through the playstore, I have a copy i can flash via recovery though it can't be updated, any reasons for this? Running on verzion, kit kat 4.4.4

I wish I knew man, I'm going to do a little hunting around for an answer and I'll let you know if I find anything out. I reverted to all stock about a month ago and it installed just fine for me. When you say kit kat 4.4.4 I'm assuming you're on Sense and not AOSP/GPE?
Yes, mine is s-off unlocked and under android version is states modified for the status. I'm kind of at a loss but no biggie. Some info would be greatly appreciated. I like the HTC browser the most for the text wrapping feature. Double tap and it brings into the screen. Have yet to find another browser that does that.

Had same problem, but went to:
root-system-priv-app and deleted it, then re-booted, ... success
give that a try it works for me just great!
