Team Fah-Q... - Samsung Galaxy S Blaze 4G

I started this thread with 3 intentions:
1. To let you guys know the new/exisiting member of TFQ which devs for the Blaze 4g.
2. Let you guys know where we are headed with development now that ICS is out.
3. Invite you guys to join us at our IRC channel
1. Members.
Recently I've been noticed that not many devs got a hold of this phone so I've taken upon myself to kind of get together the one's that we do have to make this phone way way better . So with that said here's an alphabetical list of all the members of TFQ (blaze 4g exclusive):
dwitherell
erikmm
flyers00
merwin
thomas.raines
Each one brings something different to the team and some similarities which makes it a lot easier to build a proper device tree for cm9/aosp buids. With that said we go into where we are headed.
2. We at TFQ are committed to bring you guys the latest build of CM9, AOKP, AOSP, Gummy, Slim and Miui. Though I personally wont be maintaining all these roms I do stand by any of the work our team puts out As of now I do have a working build of cm9 with camera working semi-properly(dwitherell is working on it right now) but we should have something really soon I imagine maybe Friday for a release but not promises and it will be a Beta build even though it's completely stable and it'll be CM 9.1 with all the latest changes from CM. Our source will be available in the near future but for now since this is all still new we wont upload it until the rom is stable by all counts. As far as JB is concerned we are going to assume we aren't getting source code so for now we would really appreciate for you guys to enjoy the current ICS flavors we will be distributing and give us time to get our source ready for a JB build in the future(no timetable).
3. Finally, we would like to invite you guys to come by the channel I set up on IRC to discuss what we have coming and even teaser or test builds we might need testers for. If anything we can all just enjoy a good laugh . The channel name is #teamfah-q the way to log in is
go to webchat.freenode.net
register a username and then join the channel
Hope this helps answer some questions the community is having and to inform you guys that all the devs on the blaze are "united" to bring you guys the best of the best.
This will be updated accordingly.
And welcome aboard to the new member of TFQ ( dwitherell, flyers00 and merwin)

just because I like holding on to the 2nd post lol

[DEV DONATIONS] Xtremekilla09

If it pleases the Infuse community, I too have been in contact with a Dev that as well needs to be over...Xtremekilla09. I am sure that a majority of the users who have moved over from that captivate knows his work...Firefly is the Rom that has received much praise from the captivate community and has allowed for individuality at its best...His ROM included an app that allowed for many different types of MODS that ranged from different Dialers to different battery MODS as well as different themes..The app allowed for direct download of mods straight to the phone...his work includes
Xtreme Dialer
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=949972
FireFly [ROM]
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=914284
Mosaic 2.3.3[ROM]
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1061203
as well as many team projects because he is a part of Team Phoenix
Because of his trusted work I believe he would make a great addition to the community for stable and enhanced ROMS
If the community agrees i will have a link up soon for his donation
I am a huge fan of Firefly on the captivate, although I'm currently running cm7 nightly on it.
There is beginning to be some interest in developing for the Infuse, mine is charging now so I'm posting with captivate.
Anyway, I think it's a great idea to get one in extremekillas hands there is another post about funding the developers with a phone. I will be donating when I get my paypal account password reset. I forgot it. It seems though one phone may be not enough. There are a lot of developers that want one. So I propose we buy two and let the devs pass them around. If you've flashed a rom. Donate. Two phones would be easypeasy if everyone helped

TO ALL DEVELOPERS! Will provide Donations

I will donate to developers who can manage to get the ICS SDK ROM and the Galaxy Nexus dump (once leaked) to run properly with everything working on the G2X. I would like to see the Galaxy Nexus app dump mixed with the SDK Rom. My Twitter is @ts0cha0tik
Hit me up once you have it working... I will need video proof and will need to run the rom myself. $30 to $50 donation depending on the quality of the build and the constancy updating it. I do not mind donating to you more than once. Just make it happen
Must be working:
Wifi
Data
Mobile Phone
Sync
Gapps
BT
FFC
Widgets
I too will donate the same amount as this user, but if you can get it working for Mytouch 4G as well. My twitter @s_jets
Me 3 I would graciously donate $50 or more depending on quality

You guys should be a little more patient, there will eventually be ics roms.
Btw you should donate even if they don't get ics working.

Agreed. Y'all are kind of jumping the gun here. I know you want it now, but just be patient. The last thing you want is something that's been rushed. There shouldn't be deadlines on these types of things. ICS will be released, and when it is, the devs will get to work on it. Just...chill for a bit, lol.
Man, a lot of these threads going around.
It's not gonna happen with out source. Might as well give the money to CM team as they will be the first to get a ROM out with everything functioning. Source isn't going to be dropped until the Nexus is out. So I won't even expect source to drop at the very earliest maybe beginning of December. Then it will probably take the CM team maybe a month or two to get Alpha builds out. So realistically, I honestly don't expect ICS builds for this phone until maybe the middle of Jan to beginning of Feb of next year.
You can't get a stable rom from an SDK dump. You can only get a buggy rom with most things not working. The SDK drivers are not compatible with most phones. You have to wait for source and that might still be difficult as the drivers on our phone are for GB. They need to be compiled for ICS and without source and LG releasing an ICS rom this is going to be very difficult to do, even for the most talented devs.

I know. But there's just no point right now in asking for it.
I think everyone here knows who's going to be the first to come out with a build of ICS for 60+ devices, or how ever many CM team upkeeps.

Very well put my thoughts exactly! Donating to these developers shouldn't be a "do this for me and I'll donate" situation. It should be done simply for the fact that we wouldn't have ANY of this without them to begin with. Too many people think they're just entitled to everything (I'm not talking about the original poster just people in gerneral ) even when it's already given to them for free!! I completely understand why some developers get fed up and quit working on these phones because of people who piss and moan about everything, without even contributing in the least bit. And it's because of those entitle people we've already lost a few awesome developers, which sucks but who can blame them? Can you imagine what it would be like to work your ass off just so you can give something to someone for free, and instead of being thanked for your hard work, all they do is complain about it? Just go to the Market and read some of the reviews on a FREE app for an example of that ****!! These assholes don't have to spend a dime on the app, yet all they do is sit there and complain about it!! God I hate people sometimes! LOL So my point is that if you enjoy having your phone rooted and having access to things you never would've without rooting it, then that's the reason you should donate to these developers. (End Rant)
Personally, I say we pool a bounty for a working AOSP build. Even the best SDK port won't touch a legit build. I'd put some money towards someone laying down the foundations for a native port.

Who wants to jump in? CALLING ALL DEVS

Alright guys. Time to get serious.
Who wants to jump in on getting our own AOSP running?
I'm not talking about porting over T-Mobile CM7 (although it's great that we have it), I mean getting our OWN full-fledged AOSP 2.3.x or 4.0.x ROM. I come from the Captivate where we could never trust samsung on updates, especially major ones.
I have a limited experience with kernel building, and attempting AOSP (I was developing for the inspire for a little bit) and I'm putting out a notice for fellow devs to jump in on a team so we can get this up and running. Let's get this running guys. Either post in this thread or shoot me a PM if you're interested. I'm gonna go take a look at the source now, and any extra help I can get is gonna make a huge difference.
Any experience is welcome. Cooking, Kernel compiling, or working with source in general especially. This isn't gonna be easy, but if we all can get together we can make it happen.
Who's in?
I'm down.

I've cooked up some roms for the mt4g in the rom kitchen, but not much dev experience past that. But anything I can do to help just let me know.

I am interested. I followed the AOSP build instructions and got the emulator up and running. I made a clone of this git repository:
github.com/rmgeren/android_device_samsung_skyrocket
I thought this might be a good starting point for creating the images. I ran into a road block though because the partition sizes were done in hex and make_ext4fs didn't like that. If I changed them to decimal (e.g. 512M) the make would accept that. This would be problem for the partition lay out though. Another issue is this device configuration uses a prebuilt kernel. I would think that using the existing kernel configuration (Da_G's) would work, but I haven't tried that.
Is there an IRC channel that people are meeting regarding this work?
Xavier is setting up an IRC so we can communicate. I have my build env set up and I'm ready to go, so I'm gonna put a few hours of work in tonight. Can someone go snag Da_g?

Support
We spend an astonishing amount of time developing this software. We can't spend much time on XDA as a result, so if you need support, please try the following:
1) Search. Search, search, search. Yes, you. I don't care how unique or important your question is, it's very likely someone has adressed it already. Especially if you're even close to new at this.
2) Read our FAQ, which can be found on our website. Carbon FAQ
3) Ask a question in your device forum. Someone will no doubt try to help you. Warning: this help may come in the form of telling you it's a dumb question that has been asked before. See step 1 - such are the perils of asking questions when you haven't done the research yourself. Android is about helping yourself.
4) Ask a question on our IRC channel. Connect to #teamcarbon on irc.freenode.net or click here. You'll find several other Carbon fans and usually one or more devs as well. Please be polite.
Who is Team Carbon?
Find out here:
Carbon Team
Remember, every penny you send to us goes right back into the rom. It's used for hardware, server costs, etc - all the things that help us make Carbon better with every release. Your support means the world to us! If you've enjoyed Carbon, please consider a donation toward this goal. Thank you, and we hope you continue to enjoy Carbon!
