HTC One S Canada - HTC One S

Hey guys,
I have the latest official OTA Update for my HTC One S on Bell.
Version 1.84.666.9
Sense 4.0 instead of 4.1 tmobile version
Android 4.0.3
I do not have the possibility to change the Recent apps button.
I would like to stay on stock rom just to avoid flashing rom updates and deal with glitches.
Should I just wait it out for jellybean or should I change my CID to something else?
Help would be appreciated!
Thanks

What you should do is follow forum rules and post in the right section if you want your question answered. DEVELOPMENT FORUM IS NOT FOR Q&A. THAT'S WHAT THE Q&A SECTION IS FOR! (shocking i know )

Moved To Q&A
I really dont think any more needs to be said.

Realized it just after I posted it and I couldnt find my post anymore.
Sorry bout that!

Can delete this thread.. It's here twice!

I have a rooted HTC Sensation, is it ok to update to stock 4.0?

So my friend rooted my phone for me and installed a custom rom that supports a language I needed (arabic).
It turns out that the 4.0 carries that language and I have been having a lot of problem with the current rom. If I want to upgrade to 4.0 how can go on with this?
Also, I would like to stay rooted because from what I understand, if I am rooted the phone is unlocked and I am planning on going overseas for a month and so it would be nice to have a unlocked phone with me.
I really appreciate all the help guys thanks!
First of all, there is no stock 4.0, unless you mean ICS 4.0.x. Because of the vague information, I assumed you meant sense 4.0.
Second of all, you need to provide some info, and why can't your friend fix it for you? I have no idea what's currently on your phone. If you're running gingerbread, then you'll have to do a firmware update + rom update. You've provided us the fact that your friend put a rom on there for you. That does not help one bit. What rom? and again, why can't he fix it? Normally, it's pretty easy to update the rom, there are tons of instructions provided in the forums. I would suggest looking around. The only hard part for you may be the firmware updating... Since you appear to have no idea what rom you're running, myself and others won't know how to help at all. You want to update to this "4.0" with little to no information provided. Fyi, phone rooted does not mean the phone is unlocked. You'll have to double check that, Good luck!
ps. your title is even more confusing. Are you getting the 4.0 OTA and asking if it's okay to update? or are you asking HOW to update? I'm assuming you're asking how to update lol
Ermm, this type of question (correcting: exactly this question) had been asked (and answered) a couple of times

I apologize for being vague here are info on my phone.
I am on Android Version 2.3.7
Baseband version: 10.56.9035.00
Kernal Version 2.6.35.13_CyangenMod+
Mod Version: CyanogenMod-7.1.0-SelfKANG10-Sensation
Build Number: GRJ22
I am trying to update to the new version which is ICS for my sensation. I am not sure if it's out or not though.
I guess my question is:
Do I have to unroot my phone to use ICS?
if not, can you please point me to where I can follow a guide to do this?

Since you are unsure of what you are doing, I wouldn't advise you to try since you do run the risk of "Bricking" your device if something goes wrong - Your Choice!
Having stated that, if you really do want to install ICS:
1. Install firmware 3.32 from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459767
2. Install a CUSTOM Recovery.
3. Choose your ROM - There are a few Sense 3.6 ROMs but no Sense 4.0 with no bugs (FAIK).
You should really Search the Development thread and choose a ROM which suits YOU as everyones needs/wants are slightly different. Most ROMs tell you what you need to install and there already guides on how to do it.
You could follow the guide from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1472298
Here are also a couple of good thread with tons of info:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192300
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1542555
ROOTING only unlocks the ability to change files stored anywhere on the phone, you need to SIM UNLOCK if you intend to use a different carrier or possibly in a different country. There is a thread in development on how to do this for free too!!!
Hope this helps

Not sure why you'd want to do this, when you can just install a room based off of the official release like ARHD. You'd retain root and also get all the awesome features included in the ROM that HTC won't add in there.

I've also heard of phones being severely bricked after updating from stock. Actually, I've worked on them. They were galaxy s prevails, though

Does all feature works in ARHD? my worry is that in some custom rom, some features do not work.

just install android revolution HD
it offers stock experience but on a custom rom
no modifications have been made to the original rom
All features work including beats audio, face unlock and in summary all features

Sorry why did you open a new thread for this, there are hundreds of threads all saying stuff about the update, if you dont actually have anything useful to report about the update, why make a thread? Please maybe speak to a mod about closing or removing this thread, thanks!
May I ask what the point of this thread is?

Don't click here!

Hey,
This Q & A forum seems dead (posted at least 3 times with no answer yet) hence the really bad title!
Question 1:
I am on a Bell S4 Htc One S. We got a 1.84.666.9 update which basically sucks since:
a) no sense 4.1
b) can't change the recent app button!!!
What should I do in order to change it? Change CID ?
Will it be fixed on the 4.0.4 update or in jellybean?
Any tips or ideas, life changing thoughts?
Feel free to post and answer, It will be appreciated
flash a custom Rom. All your questions will be answered. Try TrickDroid or Viper, but be sure to read all the instructions first and unlock your bootloader through the htcdev.com site. See the Android development section for more info

HTC Sense Official ROM for Evita

Hi everyone!
I just have one question, is it possible to reinstall the offcial HTC Sense ROM for my HTC One X?
The thing is that last month I almost brick my HOX, you guys helped me to recover it, but I did not get any back up for the original ROM, can I reinstall it? Cuz I've been looking for the official ROM online without result. Mine is EVITA.
I'd appreciate your answers!
Thanks!
Firstly, this should have been posted in the q&a section. I'll ask for it to be moved.
You can find stock ROMs in the Android Development section.
If you want to go fully stock (ROM and recovery, no root) you can run an RUU.

[Q] Custom ROM & Future OTA updates

Hello All,
I havent been on XDA for quite some time, I used to flash Cyanogen ROMs pretty much daily a few years ago (on my HTC Hero!).
I now have a Nexus 5 and am frustratingly waiting for an Android Lollipop OTA update which hasn't arrived yet! I am tempted to flash a 5.0 ROM, but wanted to ask if by doing so I will stop receiving future OTA updates from google i.e 5.1 whenever its released. Apologies if this is a dumb question... I've been out of the customisation game for a long time!
Thanks
Calico
wrong forum. you posted in development section. this belongs in q/a section. but yes, if you flash a custom rom you will not get otas.

Sorry, hopefully a mod can move it to the correct section
Ahh... that does complicate things. I don't have as much free time as I used to so I may just stick it out and wait for the official OTA.
Thanks for the reply!
