Hi,
I need to tether my phone's wifi connection via USB. When I tether my 3g communication everything goes well, but if I connect to wifi and try to tether it, my phone does not tether it.
I am currently using a HTC Hero (2.3.3). Any solution suggestions?
Regards
note: I have to tether my connection via USB. It is a must for me.

Basically, I want to have
Desktop Computer -> USB -> D2G -> WiFi(not 3G) -> Internet
on rooted D2G with stock froyo. Cyanogenmod on my myTouch 3G has this tethering option installed by default. But which app should I use for D2G?
Thanks!
Wasn't wireless tether for root users capable of doing this?

not for WiFi access only 3G. With Wireless Tether the WiFi is used as an access point to 3G not another WiFi router.
What he is trying to do is use the Phone as a wireless card for a PC over USB.
I have never seen an app to do that and it really would just be better to go buy a wireless card for the PC, You will get much better data speeds.
I am pretty sure if you connect bluetooth you can tether to wifi connection. Check this out:
This program enables tethering (via wifi and bluetooth) for "rooted" handsets running android (such as the Android DevPhone 1). Clients (your laptop for example) can connect via wifi (ad-hoc mode) or bluetooth and get access to the internet using the 3G, 2G mobile connection or (in case you are using bluetooth) the wifi connection which is established by the handset.

But you are right you need to connect via BT (not USB...), so it may not work for you.
My tethering connection via USB or WIFI hotspot has been disconnecting lately, and it's usually after transferring between 40-50MBs.
Tethering stays consistent and does not disconnect if connecting to my works VPN, via a new network connection in XP/Windows 7.
Can anybody explain why this happens?
Thanks,

what i want to do is to use an external wifi connection that my android phone is receiving, on my pc. in other words, the phone would work as a wifi adapter for the pc (because i dont have one in my pc). i tried usb tethering, but it lets u use only 2g/3g connection, not wifi.
any app which can do this?
Hmm normally it should work with wifi too.
Try to deactivate 3g while you're tethering.
Otherwise try apps like pdanet or another one but I forgot the name.

your talking about reverse tethering and yes flussen is right just turn of mobile networks and it should work and ive seen this done using wired tether 1.4 from google.
ok, it works with data connection turned off.
Hello,
Has anyone been able to use USB tethering while connected to a L2TP or a OpenVPN VPN? Tethering seems to connect fine to my computer, but I can't get any internet access flowing....even though I can browse from my phone just fine during all of this.
So i have a pretty complicated network setup right now due to my normal home internet dying and technicians never coming to fix it, so i'm now using my phone on 4G, use the wifi hotspot on that phone, go downstairs, use another phone to connect to that hotspot and use usb tethering to get internet on my pc.
The issue right now is that i can't seem to be able to communicate with my desktop pc (connected by usb tether) with my laptop (connected on wifi hotspot)
any idea on what software i could use to fix that?
