[Q] Bypassing Pin Unlock for certain apps from lock screen - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

I have a screen-unlock pin set up on my S3. I also have 4 apps with shortcuts on my lock screen. I would like to be able to access one (or all of those apps) from the lock screen without entering my pin to unlock it (specifically camera, camcorder, and/or sound recorder) in case speed is essential (get the quick pic, record an event suddenly, etc), but then not be able to get into Android without entering pin.
For example, I'd like to take a picture, so I hit the power button and the screen turns on with the lock screen showing. I then tag the Camera icon. It immediately goes to the camera, which I can then use. But, if I try to access the Gallery from the Camera app, it would prompt me for my pin (unless I launched the camera while the phone was already unlocked).
Is there any way to make that happen?

Bump.

Won't work without some serious coding effort. Even with WidgetLocker it will prompt you for your pin if you put a shortcut to the camera app to the lockscreen.

yarg...am I the only one that would appreciate this feature?

[Possible solution] Disable lockscreen on sensation

So i was thinking of disabling the ring lock screen on sensation so that when you turn on the screen, it takes you to home right away.
For now, there is no such an option to permanently disable it. But i realized that a lot of third-party software have this ability. For example, if u try Go SMS PRO, it gives u an option to pop up a window when you get a new txt which bypasses the lock screen, meaning that you will not see the ring lock screen when the phone is turned on.
So i am sure there is a way to tweak the sensation to get rid of the lock screen. At the very least, we can trace how GO SMS does this and make a small program or patch out of it....
but is there any one who knows how to do so?
Wait for CM7

Isn't there widget called "No lock" or something like that.... I thought that worked, not sure though, I do like that ring lockscreen.
Try this ?
I remember uninstalling a lockscreen on a sensless Rom thru titanium backup. Try it out but make sure to back it up first.

Correct. I've been using No Lock since my HD2. Works great.
I just turn it OFF using Elixir 'Lock' switch and then using the 'Lock Screen Widget' to soft OFF & can use volume or power button to turn ON
no lock works fine. but im wondering how much battery it drains while its running in the background....
Ders is a way to disable it. Go to system/app and look for htclockscreen.apk and rename it to htclockscreen.bck this disables it and give u the orignal android lockscreen and if u wish to go back to sense 3 lockscreen simply rename the .bck back to .apk

but i dont want any lock screens at all
I just downloaded the No Lock app and trying it out. It seems to work great for disabling the ring lock screen, at least it seems like I have found some a way to not have to fight to unlock my Sensation right now.
Does it also remove the PIN lock screen as well? I just want to get rid of the unnecessary ring screen, but still want security on my phone.

I just tested all three methods of security and yes with the pattern, pin, and password the No Lock disables all of them. So when you are using No Lock your device will not lock in any way unless you doable No Lock. Or if you use the lock widget it will look your device but it ask for administrative rights first.
Now there might be another app out there that will disable just the default lock screen but still allow you to use the pin, pattern, or the password. But if you still want some security you can try Smart App Protector (app lock). It is on the Android market and it is free. It allows you to lock any application you want to be secure with a pin, pattern, or password. I am about to test it out myself.
If you're using Android Revolution HD there are files you can flash to disable it
I tried No Lock, but nuked it after trying it out.
It had the function I wanted but had a bad (for me) sideeffect.
On incoming call, I reached down in my pocket and one or two of my
sausagefingers accidentally denied the call while picking the phone out
of my pocket. Everytime.
My Alzheimerbrain just could'nt remember to pick up the phone gently-ish.
So I'm doomed to be semibound by phone.

[TIP] Creating a very secure lockscreen with Cyanogenmod

Using the latest nightly builds of Cyanogenmod I believe I now have one of the most secure lock screen one could come up with.
It basically involves using a picture of a real PIN lock screen as a background for the lock screen. Then enabling only a gesture to unlock the phone.
This fools the person trying to get into your phone into attempting to enter a PIN code when the real way to unlock is to draw your specific gesture on the phone.
I have attached a picture you can use to do this. On the one I actually use I even added a block of text that tells them who to call if they find my phone so I might get it back.
If anyone wants more specific instructions on how to do this, let me know.
The ONLY drawback to using a gesture lock screen on cyanogenmod is if someone calls the phone. In that event, you need to "slide to unlock" and the phone is then left unlocked. Oh, and no real emergency call, but who needs to do that?

Turn off the phone, and look at your finger marks on the screen. You will clearly see your gesture...

You learn to wipe the screen alot when using the pattern or gesture unlock. But again, the numeric buttons still make them think it's a PIN and not something they draw.

Security override?

I have my corperate emails linked with my phone which requires me to have my screenlock password enabled for it to work. I hate having to put in my code every time I look at my phone. Is there any way to bypass this security requirement, like tell the server that I have this feature enabled when it is not? Thanks.

Have you tried the app No Lock? It's free in the Market. Basically it disables the lock screen. It's been a while since I've used it, but if I remember correctly you can still have a security password set. No Lock just never lets the phone actually lock. You can enable/disable it easily with a widget on your homescreen.
I used to use it because I wanted to be able to wake the phone using the volume keys. Since I found a mod to allow that and still have the lock screen enabled, I stopped using the app.
Look I'm the android general forums. They have a way to bypass it, but mind you that if your IT department finds out you can get into trouble for it.
The no lock app prevents the lock from turning on if the screen goes black due to inactivity, and suits my need perfectly. I can push the power button and the lock comes on. Thanks for the help and advice.

Finally, best Lockscreen app found!

I've found the best lockscreen for Android: Temporary Phone Lock. When my boss enters the room, he sometimes grabs my phone just to piss me off and he goes through my pictures etc. Now that I have installed this app he is out of luck To unlock is very fast and not irritating at all. Also the standard lockscreen sometimes onlocks in my phone and starts to dail random numbers, also fixed that problem with this tool. Highly recommended! https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.SocialMediaKickstart.TemporaryPhoneLockTrial
What makes it the best? Can you put widgets on the lock screen? And why would you use this instead of say the android lock screen when you can still use a number password in the android one????

You've got a terrible boss, he isn't allowed to do that.

So this app is to quickly toggle the lock screen? That way you can disable it when no one is around and then quickly enable in public?

Quick Launching Camera from Lockscreen

I must be missing something but hell if I can figure out how to launch the camera from the lockscreen.
Used to be able to do it with a double power button click on my S8 but on my VZW Pixel 3 it brings up the code unlock first. I find that there are many times I just want to take a quick shot without having to unlock the phone.
For that matter, does Pie offer lockscreen widgets at all?
Thanks for your help.

Strange, works for me. It's possible a Device Administrator (work email, etc) is preventing it... They sometimes disable certain functions while the screen is locked.

Yeah that's why I came here to ask. It doesn't seem to make sense. Especially since I have not set this up for work stuff yet.
Is there a general lockscreen widget area?

I would check Settings > Security > Advanced > Device admin apps to make sure there is not an administrator enabled that could be interfering.

Ah, yes, those were the days (pre-Lollipop) when my lockscreen was super useful and interactive, and so was my notification ticker in the status bar. I feel like an old man now remember how good things USED to be. lol
But to the OP, something is clearly wrong as this feature is turned on by default on Pixel devices. Try a factory reset. You can backup your phone to your computer using the adb backup and restore commands.
Did you select Camera as default app when launching with the phone unlocked? The first time it will give you the "open with" dialog. For me it was Camera and Snapchat. I selected camera and always, and now can launch camera from anywhere.

I noticed this as well. OP, are you having the app selection menu popup after entering your pin?
Press the power button twice to activate the camera from the lock screen. Can't activate the camera from the touch screen
Kinda sucks though it doesn't work if u have a passcode it still needs entering to use the camera

No, it'll work. You can't view pictures taken before using the camera unless you unlock
I try and get this screen
Works for me with pattern lock, don't use pin.
Just go to the camera settings then scroll down and turn on Quick launch
Enter your pin, and select one of your camera apps as "always" then it'll allow you to skip the pin when you double tap. ?

Thank you for the tip!
I hope by now the problem has been resolved, I was also looking out how to access the camera from the lock screen and it turns out (thanks to advice from friends not from anything I found from the many internet searches) that if you click the power button twice the camera pops up. You can check this by going to Settings- System - Gestures - Jump to Camera.
