I'm having the same problem. Started after last youtube update, didn't go away when I upgraded to Jelly Bean. Youtube videos seem to play ok if I launch them from another application, but starting Youtube directly from launcher causes it to crash.

Same here: both on the TF101 and the TF700 the youtube app crashes. As described I am able to watch youtube videos via the play store. Allready deleted all subscriptions but it did not help.

YouTube problems

I've been having problems playing YouTube videos on my tablet.
Sometimes it will play with out a catch but then I run into the continuous force closes while trying to load the video up.
Is there a fix or anything I can do?
My tablet is not rooted.

Force close when trying to play any video here, I'm assuming it's a problem on Google's end.
I have been facing this same problem since today.. I was using the youtube app extensively yesterday without any issues. Hopefully they resolve it soon.

I have same issue. Will not play videos that worked fine yesterday. Apparently not a TF issue but a google /you tube issue.
I have the problem with youtube on my asus tf101.
I have the same problem with youtube. I live in the far east of Russia. Yesterday, when trying to play videos on youtube from the asus tf101, I got an error message playback. And today I am forced to dropped the tablet in the factory settings, but nothing has changed and now the application is forced to close when you try to view the video from youtube. Already thinking ins custom rom.
Same problem here. Maybe theyre preparing for ICS? *fingers crossed*
I have the same problem. I didn't know what it was because it started exactly following my changing my YouTube setting to always start HD videos. I thought I broke something on my transformer (I just rooted it last night). It's good to know others are having the same problem.
Mine is down too. It is also not showing in the market either. Anyone checked to see if it is still on their phone?

Same here. No problems on my ics NS4G, but on my stock TF101, youtube is borked.

workaround i find for now is to launch it from your browser (www.youtube.com) or there is a great app for downloading and watching you tube video (tubemate)

Can't Reinstall
Well, crap. I uninstalled my YouTube App via Titanium Backup, and now I can't reinstall it. I've tried both the .apk, and via Titanium (with each option in Titanium).
I'm rooted and a pro-user with Titanium. Any ideas on how I can get it back on? Can I flash YouTube with CWM?

Is this a bug? Is there a fix? Can I force the youtube app to open up by default. It's just a pain b/c youtube in the broweser is rediculously slow vs the native app.

Let's see if this helps - go into Settings -> Applications ->All tab
Scroll down to YouTube - tap it. If running, Force Stop - then Clear data - then Clear cache.
Next - relaunch YouTube - and report back if this fixed anything or not.
Cheers..

so bad, it's still showing black screen.
It's weird that it still play audio from that video.
If I watch Youtube from the default Browser the video played fine.
Thanks for the advice anyway. Any more advice?

Have you installed the twitter app?
Because after a bit of reserch, i came across few websites where people were having the same problem as you.(only audio)
It turned out that uninstalling the twitter app solved their problem..

[Q] Shield Tablet - Play Store Video Connection Lost

Whenever I attempt to load a video for an app in the play store I get "Connection to server lost". Its particularly strange because I am able to view movie/tv previews in the play store, youtube, and other streaming video without an issue. The problem seems to be specific to videos for Apps and Games viewed through the play store. Not a huge deal but still kinda annoying. Anyone else seeing this problem?
Btw I applied the OTA and rooted with towelroot.

Yeah I'm having the exact same problem on mine. Good to know it's not just me. Hopefully they fix it soon.
same issue here. the video starts to play after i hit retry a few times. not too concerned with it right now but I'm hoping they fix
I got it too, guess it will be fixed in the next update. New toy, new bugs.
Same issue here as well. I also can't play YouTube videos from within other apps (Tapatalk, Reddit Sync). They give me the same error. I can play them if I open them in the YouTube app though.
Same here.

Android O Beta - No video playback

Hi I am running Android Or Beta 2 and have noticed something very strange. When I try to play videos on Instagram, Twitter or even YouTube they all get errors or just never play. Very strange. I have tried uninstalling/clearing data but nothing seems to work
It happens to me too (YouTube). I had to close the app and wait for sometime before trying again.

I also had this issue but since updating to Android O Beta 3 this appears to have been resolved.
