Finally! - Asus Transformer TF700

A disappointed former Prime owner. After this JB update on my Infinity, I finally can say, I got the tablet I wanted from the beginning. Thanks Asus for staying the course and addressing the issues in JB. Continue to work on your quality issues and you will have a great product.
Thx!

Possible Nexus tablet? Soon? Link inside

I thought this was interesting. A Google branded tablet and possibly made by Motorola? This could be the nexus tablet or nexus like. Lets at least hope so. I might just hold off on the transformer prime now.

After all of Google's recent acquisitions, I wouldn't be surprised if this is the first device that they make themselves.
I hope they stick to the nexus philosophy. IF and that's a big IF it's a nexus tablet. Nobody has said it is and I am just wishing.

It'd be so nice to use Nexus Tablet.. Just hope this is true and they will release a tablet with all newest updates come to it the earliest possible date.. It could be next Motorola Tablet as well
Motorola does make some nice hardware. And with Google backing it, then most likely easy to root and flash. I just hope it's a new line with awesome specs.

Here's some more info: http://technorati.com/technology/gadgets/article/google-nexus-high-end-tablet-will/.

Buying an android tablet.

I first had in mind to get the Infinity, but with its I/O bug, I have to reconsider. What tablet can you recommend that isn't a transformer or even an Asus at all? NOT Nexus 7.
Did you check out the Samsung galaxy tab?

yeah, all of them, but the specs didn't interest me the least, to be honest.
Oh OK. Idk man, the N7 is a great tablet minus the missing SD card slot

You've ruled out Samsung, Asus, and the N7 (which is Asus, but significantly different than their other offerings). What's left, Acer? The newest Acer tab got a poor review on the Verge. Just don't get an Android tablet if those are really what you're going to rule out.
Edit: Toshiba excite? Only other new android tablet is can think of.

I've replaced the order for the Asus Inifinty. It's the only tab that speaks to me (not literally)

Excite 7.7 has been on my wishlist. amoled, tegra 3, etc, etc. Disadvantage is that, as far as I can tell, the dev community is nonexistent.

(POLL) How many Infinitys have you gone through to get a good one? (POLL)

I am looking into buying the Infinity but am concerned about the Q/C issues that I have been reading about. I am adding a poll in the hopes that I will be able to get a better visual representation of how many tablets people have gone through before getting a tablet that doesn't have any issues. It is also my hope that this poll will help others who are in my position. I know that there are other threads detailing the problems but I am hoping for an easier way to see the actual results. Thank you for your participation!

great poll to run and showing the results that I have experienced from Asus products. I have had a TF101, then a TF201 (standard GPS issues) and now my TF700T. Also have a UX31E ultrabook that works just as great as my transformer.
Only one for me too. Never had a problem.

I didnt tick anything on the poll. But I bought one and exchanged it for a note coming next week. If i dont like the note Ill probably take another stab at the infinity when JB comes out.
Third one was perfect for me. First had badly bonded screen, second was worse still, third seems to be fault free, now unlocked running zeus 4, very happy.

Never had a problem, too! So happy with my TF700!

I bought one, returned it and didn't bother with another. After issues with the 101 and 201, I'm sick of farting with Asus.
Gave up on number five. I might try again in a month or two if I see more positive threads in here.

Check out my post on blotches on my screen..I may be selling this on kijiji when it comes back from RMA.. not impressed as the keyboard had to be fixed one due it separating on one corner..
Hey Guys!
I have gotten my second Infinity yesterday, since the first one had serious clicking issues.
Guess what? This time: clicking frame + slight light bleed AND the wrong colour!
I really don't know what to do...
Should I request a new one or just ask my money back and buy something else?
What do you think?
Only one like most people. People that have problems will always scream louder than those without. The forums here may seem negative at times but I guarantee you most people are more than happy with there tablets.

THank you for your reply back.. Has anyone else seen that blotching occur??
I sent colour photos along with my RMA form...
I am most likely going to hold onto the Infinity and then when the ASus VIVO Windows 8 comes out , I will get it.... you guys feel that I should be able to get a good price for the Infinty as long as I keep it in good shape..with the keyboard dock??
Anyone know the release dates for the VIVO here in Canada??
First one.. with no issues.
I want to thank everyone who has replied and voted in the poll. It's nice to visualize the results.
Edit: I wanted to add that I plan on getting the 32gb version within the next month.

I Got screen lifting issues still waiting for a replacement Infinity. It's been 2weeks no word yet, anyone getting screen bleeding and I don't like how the tablet gets air pockets under the screen if you press a little too hard on the screen. I've had random freezing issues and the screen just blanking out for no reason. Have to reboot to get the screen going to again.....Weird.

Thinking about going from my 300t , to the 700t

Picked up a t300 and,I like it but the screen scratches very easily,I barely used it and it's already scratched,..my old t101 ,I let my 4 year old play it, he's dropped it lots of times,..spilled stuff on it,..it's a year old and doesn't have one scratch,.....im thinking about paying the extra 100 and getting the 700,., any of you guys had the 300 and moved to the 700? Or vice versa,..I really don't know what I wanna do at this point... Thanks for any input

I have both and switch between them often. The screen on the tf700 is amazing and if you want to use it outside or in direct sunlight its the best hands down. Performance wise the 300t has jellybean which makes regular task much smoother and if you use browser2ram you have a great internet surfing machine. But if you are into gaming the performance difference is noticed, especially in demanding games and emulators.
Now that's all well and good but for me there is one big issue against the tf700. My first tf300 was a keeper no problems at all, But I've gone thru 5 tf700s and counting because of QC. I wont get into the whole story but just check out the tf700 forums for specifics there are plenty of topics on the subject.
Normally for one hundred dollar difference I'd say its a no brainer but playing the infinity exchange game gets old fast. Also if you decide to go for it get it from a retailer with a good exchange policy.

Yo...I see you're in NOLA...
I went through two TF700's from Amazon because the screen was separating from the body on both among other things. So I ended up getting the TF300 and I'll hold on to it for a while. But in comparing the two it kinda seems like a iPhone 4s to iPhone 5 situation, pretty much the same device just with updated specs. Now the screen on the TF700 is nice, very crisp so I guess you really have to just make your own judgment call on what you're looking for in a tablet.
If you go with the TF700 buy it from a B&M store if you can so you can inspect it and quickly return it if there are any issues...
Good luck...
Lol damn now I really don't know what to do,...I didn't know the 700t had that many issues,..I know the screen on the 300t is plastic,I barely messed with it and has 4 scratches on it,...and that really disappoInts me, I thought with the bigger processor , better resolution, and gorilla glass it would be a no brainer to go with the 700t
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
Yeah, I mean you may have better luck though. Retailers may have worked through the bad devices by now so like I said it comes down to what you truly want...
ok first of all this is my one and only tf700t. I have zero issues no screen separation, no screen lagg etc, clearly qc issues have been resolved or i just got extremely luck with mine Best tablet i have had to date and the screen at 1920x1200 is amazing i cant go back to 1200x800

I've had mine about 4 months now and it is my second. I got it from BB in NY then exchanged it for one in NJ. The first one worked fine but had some clouding. The one I have now has given me 0 issues so far and its used daily. Its sad to hear about the bad production runs because ASUS has been really good at supporting the software on their devices.

4.2 when ?

When Asus will release 4.2 update ?
I doubt it's gonna be on this side of New Year, but one can only hope. We might see custom ROMs using it before that.
Ah, I was wondering when we have the first one like this
I am afraid that 4.2 is the last one hour Infinity will get. Asus will be focusing on their new products where they (I hope) stop being cheap on NAND drives. They totally screwed this tablet over by being cheap on some small part which doesn't cost anything.
Anyway if this tablet will get 5.0 and above updates also, then Asus did some small positive surprise for me.

If you watch even the original transformer its gotten updates to ICS, i am completely confident that there will be updates for the prime and infinity to at least JB, if not further. Asus may not be great on their QA but they do update their devices. Maybe not as fast as Google, but we will see updates into the future.

Seriously? The TF300 had Jelly Bean before we did, and it's older and lower-range than the TF700. D'you seriously think they'll ditch their flagship Android device within 4 months of its release? Especially considering Asus was the second one to release JB to the previously mentioned devices, after Samsung (Samsung bought the solitary rights for the first three months, or we would've had it sooner.).

I'm more interested to know if they will adopt the nexus 10/7 hybrid phone/tablet ui or keep the current tablet ui so as to not confuse users. I can see the merit of the hybrid ui but I'm growing used to the current layout
