Can't start up tablet after JB update - Asus Transformer TF700

Hi guys,
First of all, I just would like to mention that I'm french so apologies if my english is not perfect.
I read this forum since I bought my tablet 3 month ago.
But now I really need your help, tonight (in France) I had a notification for JB update on my TF700 which is 100% stock.
I launched it, nothing was wrong until the tablet initiates a reboot and stopped.
Tablet was running on the battery but 80% loaded.
Now I'm unable to switch it on. I tried a reset, a cold boot nothing. Sometimes it vibrates but no more...
So by now the tablet is completely down
Do you guys can suggest something or my last chance is an exchange (holy **** don't wan't to start a 6weeks process...) ??
Thanks a lot

if it vibrates, thats a good sign that its not dead. Try holding the power button and volume down button at the same time. This is a cold boot, which you said you have done. but doing it a few times might get it to wake up.

Get a pin and find a hole on top of the mini HDMI slot. Put pin in the hole and turn it on.

Same problem here.

Did it already with no success ...
Good to know that I'm not the only one facing that issue. I'm going to raise a case to Asus support even if I'm not very confident with that ...

OK, got a reply from Asus support saying ... send your tablet back ...
If anyone has a magic solution to switch my tablet on I would really appreciate !

Lol...and I too

same issue here. went into bootloader and tried USBing it to the comp and the computer installs drivers but i can't open anything. Sometimes it'll boot into the Setup screen for JB, but during setup, it shuts off, boots back up and i just get a blank screen. Any ideas?

Quite a number of TF201 owners are in the same situation. Seems to be a problem with the changeover form ICS to JB. There are no solutions except RMAing currently - but if you are unlocked and have NVflash then check TF201 forums as there might be some help there.

Yea, Asus gave me an RMA number to send it in. I just hope it doesn't take that long

I brought mine back to the french store where I bought it ... I need to wait between a week and a month ....

....it does NOTHING

Hello and good morning..:crying:..my Nexus s I9023 with JB 4.1.1, stock, had a frozen Display and didn`t react to the powerbutton so i pulled the battery....and guess, what.....it doesn`t turn on anymore!! I had the battery out all night...nothing! ...put it on the charger...nothing!....eaven the pc does not recognise my Nexus...! ...what can I do?? btw....searched the Forum and did this "plug in USB, press volume up and down, slide in Battery, hold for 5 sec. ....nothing!!! HEEEEELLLLPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm not an expert, but it seems a serious hardware problem.
As far as I know, there are for ways to switch on the nexus s.
1) ordinary power button
2) power button + vol up
3) vol up + vol down
4) plug in USB charger
The third method puts the phone in download mode, and Odin needs to be used. You have to look for the thread on how to restart the phone with a broken power button
Best wishes

if it is still in warranty send to the seller and if u are lucky u can have a new nexus s
....if there is no other option i will do that!!
If the screen does not turn on displaying the battery icon when you plug the charger to the usb, it may mean that they battery is completely flat or that the contacts are not working.
If you know someone who owns a nexus then try with another battery and another charger.
In any case, it is definitely better to give it to a service center for warranty replacement. They know how to make it work
Good luck

Exact same thing happened to me this morning! I just tried to send a text, my display blurred and the phone froze. When I pulled the battery it wouldn't turn back on >.<. Hesitant to send in for repairs though. I was running AOKP jb-build 1 and Air-kernel #201. It isn't being recognized by USB so I can't even flash it again. Tried to use the unbrickable resurrection program, but it doesn't get recognized, and I don't want to void the warranty further by opening the phone.
Any suggestions??

are you overclocking the cpu? This happened to me a few times until i finally clued it in my head. I was overclocking at 1400MHz and sometimes when i was using my phone for a while it would get hot and the screen would be all colourful and blurry and then it would freeze and I would have to take the battery out and reboot it
I was overclocking for a bit at a stable 1200 MHz for months, and usually hard resets fixed it. But if I remember correctly, I started using stock voltages and stock speeds with lazy governor a while back. It was stable until today. Usually the hard reset fixes it, but now its not even turning on or being recognized by USB
...wanted you all to know..just got my NS back today...they put in a New mainboard on warranty.l had to update Form 2.3.4 to ics and then to JB..........now i am happy:thumbup:

It could be the "sleep of death" that has plagued various versions of Android. I experienced it after upgrading to JB 4.1.2, I had a number of episodes until I determined that a pre-update installed app (Sipdroid) was the culprit triggering the problem and uninstalled it. When my note went into the sleep of death, a long power button hold didn't turn it back on. After googling I found the solution to re-power my note--keep a finger on the touch screen while depressing the power button. Be careful when downloading apps. Download individually and test to make sure*it doesn' t introduce problems. Also keep things backed up so you can do a system restore.
I don't believe it was SOD as the tablet wouldn't be replaced for that. They'd just take back and reflash the OS... This sounds like a hardware fault...
I was downloading asphalt 7 heat from play store

I was afraid my tablet's entry into SOD was a hardware failure because holding down the power button did nothing. It was only when using a suggestion in a Samsung forum (found through Google) to keep a finger on the touch screen while pressing the power button that I was able to get my Note to reboot. I've not had a SOD incident since deleting Sipdroid, but the several episodes of SOD that I had before finding the offending app required that I keep a finger on the touch screen while pressing the power button, otherwise the tablet wouldn't reboot but looked dead.
I m just worried that it could be happen to next tab.
In india there is a policy from sansung that if your device has any prob it will be replaced with in 7 days they will not repaire it

Use a backup program so you can reinstall your apps and settings on a new tablet. Be careful what apps you install; compatibility issues between an app and your tablet's version of Android can cause significant stability issues. Devices in SOD look dead. A long press of the power button on a Samsung tablet in SOD will sometimes work to get the device to reboot, but not always. Some tablets in SOD can only be rebooted by keeping a finger on the touch screen while pressing the power button. Good luck.
Well thanks guys for your suggestions

[Q] TF201 - Stuck at ASUS boot screen

Hello Everyone,
I'm sorry for creating another thread related to bricked TF201 but it seems like almost every thread I've read was a little bit different and many of them people were able to get into fastboot or they had one of the 4 different "bricks" (mine is not one of them)
A little back-story: I've had my Transformer Prime for a little over a year now and I never had any issues with it and I never tried rooting/unlocking it. Last night, I decided to do it so I unlocked the bootloader using ASUS official way and then rooted it successfully. Rebooted a few times to make sure all is well and then for some readon I download this app called "Transformer reboot to Recovery" (which is the cause of this whole thing) which I used to reboot and that was the last time I was able to use the tablet =/
Now, the only thing that happens when I boot it up or press Volume down + power button is I get to the ASUS boot screen and it just hangs there. In the upper right corer it says "The Device is UnLocked" - in the middle "ASUS Inspiring Innovation - Persistent Perfection" and "POWERED BY NVIDIA TEGRA" on the bottom. When I try to turn it off it's not working (I have to wait for battery to die to turn it off) and when I hold Volume Up + Power it seems like the screen turns off (but from what I read the tablet is still on).
I tried plugging it into my PC but it is not recognizing it, and I tried everything to get it into CWM or fastboot but nothing seems to be working. I am pretty sure that I am screwed and this is probably one of the worst kinds of bricks (it's not even mentioned in the sticky thread on how to unbrick Transformer Prime) and unfortunately I am beginning to accept this sad faith hah.
If anyone experienced the same scenario and was able to resolve it or wants to share their solution to similar problem I would really appreciate it. It's too bad that this happened but I guess I knew the risks and am the only one to blame, so probably the only remaining thing I can do is sell my keyboard dock and put the tablet somewhere on the wall and use it as a mirror or something lol.
Once again, sorry for adding another one of these thread, and thanks for any kind of advice in advance.

Power button magically stopped working

Out of nowhere my power button magically no longer works. Kind of a huge deal since I use my phone for work a TON. At first I thought it was the ROM but then I rebooted into recovery and discovered it doesn't work in there either...... but by some sort of miracle though my phone magically boots itself up when I swap batteries in it....

You can get an app called button savior from Google play that allows you to create on screen keys to turn off your screen.
Various xposed modules allow you to remap your physical keys. If you don't know about the xposed framework I highly suggest looking into it.
Furthermore I believe some custom roms have key mapping built in.

My power button just started malfunctioning too. I'm on Odin barebones 4.1.2 stock and the problem persists.
It sounds like a lot of people are getting this problem. If you use that knowledge to your advantage, I've heard people convince Samsung it's a manufacturing problem and got it repaired outside of Warranty. The power button itself is sautered onto the motherboard, so unless you really trust a mobile repair company, best option is work directly with Samsung.
That being said, I'm going to look for an Xposed Framework module that can remap the power button.
I looked for one, didn't really find what I was looking for... selling mine on ebay now to pay for my new phone...

Wow. My power button just stopped working also.
My phone is stock.
I did replace the glass myself a couple months ago and it's been working fine until about a week ago. Was wondering if that had anything to do with it.
Interesting to see I'm not the only one having issues.
Kind of timely now that the S5 is coming out this week.

This is happening to a lot of people. I'm sure the s4 will start having this problem followed by the s5 after a year and some months. Im done with samsung phones until they start using different parts. Actually thinking about the next nexus phone and hack a msata drive into it with a custom vacume formed case. The only reason I haven't owned one is because of the storage limitation. I think a 200+ gigabyte msata strapped to the back would fix that problem.

Hey guys, mine originally starting messing up on Saturday, and then Sat night and all day Sun is was fine, and now it is doing it again. I even installed a new rom and it is still doing it so now I am convinced it is purely physical and not rom-related. What are you guys going to do?
I have the Wireless Phone Protection for my phone and am thinking about using that to my advantage to get a new device....question is I've never done it before. If I say I have a physical problem with my phone then won't Verizon want it returned? That will make me have to unroot it and bring it back to out of box state which is a big headache. What if I just say I lost it or it got stolen? Am I better off going that route?
EDIT: Also forgot to mention that along with these power button issues my S3 also will not reboot on its own. If I select Reboot (be it from the power button menu, notification pulldown, etc) it will just shut off and not reboot.....but if I yank the battery and put it back in it will then reboot to recovery. Same deal if I do a normal reboot, haven to yank and replace battery. You guys having these issues too?
So a couple of days ago my power button started acting wonkie as well. I would push it and it basically acted sticky. I would push once but it would register twice or as a long press. Either turning the screen on and off or bring up the reboot menu. So I did the xposed button remapping. Worked pretty well, but if I restarted the phone it would do a weird haptic feedback thing every couple of seconds before finally booting up.
So I wasn't satisfied with just living with it being a hardware issue. So I downloaded latest cleanrom to flash from cm11. I rebooted recovery and now it just vibrates every couple of seconds. Would not make it to twrp. It will get to cm Samsung boot screen but then just goes back to vibrating black screen. I took out battery and popped out power button but same results.
Any suggestions? Think power button can be fixed by repair shop or is it time to go back to my trusty droid incredible until I can upgrade.

It can be fixed. There is also a way of temporarily making the power button work but I don't feel like explaining it again. If you do some searching there are at least 20 threads that have the temp fix in it.

[Q] Nexus 5 bootloop, can't access recovery

My Nexus 5 is stuck in a bootloop. Each time through the loop, it gets to the Google logo, and then reboots. Each loop takes about 3-4 seconds. If I hold the correct keys to get to the bootloader, it still keeps looping, just looping to the bootloader screen, not the Google logo screen. I have tried letting go of the keys after different lengths of time, and I can never get it to stay at the bootloader, it just keeps looping.
And so, I cannot access recovery.
I should not that this is the phone's behavior while it is plugged in. If it is unplugged, it immediately ceases the bootloop and just goes completely dead, unresponsive.
Any ideas, guys?
Thanks!
If you can access the bootloader it's fixable. Flash the factory image.

If it wont boot to bootloader and keeps rebooting, its power button issue and needs to be repaired

It's the power button. I had the same issue on another device. It went away for awhile and then came back. Replacing the power button fixed it

Yeap. Had the same problem. Saw this post. Used a multimeter to check the Power Button failure. Terminals are shown to be shorted, even when it is not clicked. Swap the button out with a newer button. Problem solved
