OK, weird one this. Downloaded the update with no issues, it installed ok, it went to android recovery and then rebooted after a few mins into my homescreen. All good! - Then after about 5 seconds it said shutting off.. it then went through the whole updating procedure again. Ok no probs i thought, it needs 2 reboots.. fine.
However it has now done this 5 times!! and counting..I guess thats not right.. so how the hell do i stop it? lol
edit: managed to get quick view of "about tablet" and its still showing as 3.1 so the update is not applying.. i wonder why?

Are you rooted? That would be why. It's not advisable to accept an OTA update when your system has been altered. Unlocked is ok, just not rooted/modded.
If you are rooted and have a nandroid backup from before the update, try to restore from there. If not, boot into fastboot and restore to your model's original stock image (from motodev) then let the OTA updates bring you up to 3.1 and then 3.2. Re-install CWM Recovery, and re-root after that with solarnz' Universal Xoom Root and go from there.
If you're not rooted and your system is just continually rebooting, you should still try the fastboot/restore stock images procedure. There may be something easier, but I'll let someone else advise you on that.
Good luck!
Appreciate the help. No i am not rooted but i certainly dont want to restore a stock image as i will lose everything! Its nothing that cant be restored but why should i go through the hassle after accepting an OTA update if it doesnt work!
Currently now on my 16th reboot! - Getting fed up now...
Any ideas on how to apply this update ok?.. or at least stop it! lol

I can't think of any way to resolve this that doesn't involve a wipe of some kind. Have you checked any other Moto/Xoom forums to see if anyone else had the same problem?
My condolences on the irritating situation and the potential loss of your stuff. Actually, a good reason to root is that you can back everything up!
Well i took the plunge and wiped by unlocking. Cured the bootlooping (obviously), and so then thought - why not root aswell
All done and running Tiamat 2.2 and very happy!
Appreciate the help peeps..
I have been having issues applying updates to my Transformer TF101. During the update process, I receive a yellow exclaimation point symbol and the update fails. In the past I have downloaded the update and placed it on the SD card to install, but it does not seem to be posted yet. Does anyone know where I can get it, or does anyone know where the Transformer puts the OTA update file so maybe I can transfer it?
are you rooted or do you have a different recovery installed?
I am rooted, but I do not have a custom recovery... at least not that I'm aware of.
the same thing happened to me. I am rooted on stock recovery. Looks like I may be installing CMW soon huh..
Now I don't have the option to try to download it again either. strange.
I've tried to install the update a few times, but it fails at 25%. I dont have a rooted TF, just stock rom. Anyone else? And any ideas how to fix this?
Oh yeah: ive tried to reset it to factory defaults already.

Yeah, we are in the same boat. I have tried doing a factory restore and then doing the update and that fails as well. I am not sure why it is failing. See if the factory restore works for you.
If you ever changed something in system you need to revert back all the ota updates are checking every file by check sum , if one single file had the wrong check sum then you get the yellow triangle.

How would you suggest I follow through with that?

Okay, i fixed it. Here's what i did:
- Downloaded the latest stock rom from the ASUS website
- Copied the .zip file to a SD card
- Inserted the SD card, and my TF started installing the update
- After the update i was able to update to ICS
Has anyone else had any luck with this ^
I'm already on the most recent firmware, even tried this. still no luck.
I'm so confused!
yes works

I had been rooted stock and had to do the same thing. I lost root in the process. I likely could have prevented that maybe, not sure.

No, my TF is not rooted.
Anybody found a way to solve this? I still get the error after the android with turning gears appears. I'm stock. not rooted. I was once rooted but after the dec update I never rooted again. Any help would be appreciated
Thanks
After you download the latest update from ASUS.
http://support.asus.com/download.aspx?SLanguage=en&p=20&s=16&m=Eee+Pad+Transformer+TF101&os=32
You have to unzip the file you download to the sdcard and it should show up as a folder named "ASUS".
Put the sdcard back into the transformer and you should be prompted for an update found on the sdcard. Run that update and then you will be able to successfully run the ICS update.

I think someone posted that he factory restored and it dint take either. I dont know how to root this version / or install cmw
OK so my update did not take this evening. What I had to do was go to the Unlockr site and get the downloads .13 and the stock recovery. (Actually I already had them downloaded for this reason exactly). Booted into CWR and wiped data/factory reset, flashed US stock firmware. Rebooted. Booted back into recovery the manual way and flashed stock recovery. Booted back up and went to settings and updated firmware. Had to update 3 times. 4th was ICS. Then plugged in to computer and let drivers reinstall. Opened ViperMod (make sure USB debugging is on) ran exe file and once it came up used option 1 for tf201 (not option 3 like you would think). Then once it was rebooted I was rerooted and ready to go. OTA Rootkeeper did not work for me. Also my internal SD is still intact. Lost data but since rooted was able to restore via TBPro. I am actually typing this on the tablet and not my PC.
Edit:::Factory reset alone did not work for me. So I had to do the above method. Also from what I have read (all frigging day long) the CWR versions seem to have mounting issues, unless someone has made a patch.
Btw mine is US version.
I have searched the forum, but didn´t found anything that seems to help or work for me.
I am on stock rom (IML74K.WW_epad-9.4.4.40-20120704), I haven´t unlocked it, the only thing I have done with it is rooted with 1-Click Transformer Root_1.1, and when I try to update, I have temp unrooted, I have superuser and OTA keeper.
Just a few days before JB was released in Sweden for TG-models, my unit went completely dead and I had to send it in för service, it came back about 2 weeks ago with new motherboard and factory resetted, and I can´t do any upgrade to JB, when I search I get that there is no new firmware to download, so then I rooted it again to be able to try wath the links below suggestions.
I have tested, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1853145 and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1853145
The update tries to start, but ends up with a android laying on its back with red exclamation mark, but i think this tips is for unlocked devices only?
Could there have been an update that the guys at the servicecenter denied, and now I can´t get it because of that?
Is there anything I can do to get me up to JB, or is my only option to run Asus unlock tool and manually update to JB?
And if there is a thread about this for locked devices and stock roms and I have missed it, I am sorry about that.
try this: download the rom for your region from asus, unzip it, inside there should be another zip file, rename it as EP201_768_SDUPDATE.zip and copy it on your microsd card, reboot in boot menu, select recovery, wait for the little andorid with the spinning thingie in his tummy to do his magic (an advancement bar should appear on the bottom of the screen), then it should reboot to an asus logo with another advancement bar and update everything.
sometimes it requires more than one try.
NB: IT WILL WIPE EVERYTHING AND YOU WILL LOSE ROOT, otakeeper wont work with this as its a full system and data wipe, only stuff on your microsd card wont be wiped so backup anything you want to keep.

Shall try this tonight when I come home.
I have nothing to save on it right now, so a new factory reset don´t bother me, before serching for JB update I could just root it again and use otakeeper, than search for the update, as long that it isnt the root-method I have used that has crashed this from the begining.
I let you know how it works out for me.

It worked so far that it installed the update to 4.0.3 again without any problems this time, but it didnt do a factory reset, loost root, but still couldnt find any update, so I DL the update for 4.1.1 from Asus and renamed that one and ran it, did work and I am now on JB 4.1.1 =)
Thanks alot for the help.
Hi all, I bought a new TF700 two days ago. I proceeded to successfully unlock, root, flash Cromi-x. After some teething problems got it working beautifully. Unfortunately my girlfriend noticed what looks like a big smear of some type of adhesive inside the glass. Kind of looks like something has wiped the back of glass or the panel itself, and has dried but with residue. Anyway its only visible when the screen is off or on a black background but I contacted Asus anyway and they immediately advised me to get it replaced at place of purchase.
I realise they don't normally allow this but they've given me the Return Authorisation number and the store has shipped the replacement device to my nearest store for collection. SO, do I just go ahead and swap it or do you think it will come back to bite me later on? Even if they do come back later and say they found it was unlocked, Ill have already unlocked + flashed the replacement so I figure whats the worst that can happen?
It seems the rumored 'database update' back to Asus when unlocking isnt accurate as I got through no problems and they checked serial number etc.
Any thoughts?

A fellow immediate modder...I like it
For me, you've already answered your own question. Once you've got your new tablet, what do you care? Even if they do notice that your original tablet was rooted, what are they going to do, force you to give the new one back....threaten to sue you if you don't? Not likely. You've got to remember that it's all about money for these guys, so once you've got your new tablet, even if they do spot your rooted original, it's going to cost them more to try to get the new one back from you than it would for them to just repair & re-sell the original.
I think that once you've got your new one, start enjoying it
Ok so Im taking it back tomorrow for replacement. But before I do...
For my reference can anyone explain to me how to flash this back to the stock Rom? I downloaded from Asus website, rebooted into TWRP and tried to install the stock software, which failed.
Also I'd like to know if I should be 'removing TWRP somehow? I know I cant reverse the unlock process but can I revert everything else back to factory configuration?
When one reboots via power and holding volume down, you get the menu with RCK, Android and Wipe Data - what are the definitions of RCK and Android? From what I gather one boots recovery and the other the installed ROM?
Finally - when one does a Restart from within Cromi and there are options for Bootloader and Recovery - what is the difference between these two options? Do they achieve the same things as the point above (ie reboot to recovery versus the installed rom?)
Thanks, sorry for the noob questions.
Unzip the zip from Asus first and you will see an update zip inside. Flash this from twrp and it will reset you back to stock.

If you flash the stock firmware it will replace TWRP with the stock recovery.
If you bot with Power + Volume down you boot into the bootloader menu. Your correct on RCK and Android.
It is not recommended to use Wipe Data fro the bootloader if you have a custom recovery installed, btw. If you want to wipe do it fro TWRP.
The Restart options are just a more convenient way to boot into the bootloader or recovery .

Thanks to you both for the replies.
@ sbdags - Its funny I actually noticed the zip within the zip and after it failed the first time removed the zip out on its own. I astill got the same error message. To be clear, I was using the install option from within TWRP and selecting this file on my external sd card. Im re-downloading it now to test this again.

I've done it lots of times and it works fine for me.
When trying to update this message pops "Your device has been modified. Software updates are not available".
I did experiment with android operational system versions, but it was a long time ago, so I could not tell what exactly I did.
Right now it's running 4.1.2 version.
I already did some research, so I tell what I have already tried:
Resetting factory settings;
wiping cache partition;
updating while in safe mode;
unrooting it with several apps, but all of them say the device is not rooted;
there can't be any issues caused by SD card, because I don't own one on this device.
I would really appreciate your help

Well, probably you rooted the device long back and then unrooted it which has modified the device. Anyway, how will you get any update for this device in 2021 ??? All you can now do is install a custom rom of android 6. Or else if you want to remain on android 4.1.2, you'll need to install firmware.
