Curiosity about updating radio and compatibility - HTC One S

I have been pondering this thought(s) for a couple days now and I need some input and/or answers haha.
If you flash new radio (1.08ts), 2.35 base rom, and the 2.35 wifi patch. Can you return back to a aosp rom and still have wifi working? I am just not for sure if that patch is permanent and if it breaks wifi on aosp and now your stuck on Sense.
Last thought. Say you go back to aosp rom, since after installing new radio and patch from previous 2.35 base testing you still experience data drops on aosp when screen is off; can you go back to an older radio that doesn't have data drops when screen turns off and having that 2.35 patch not interfere with the older radio?
I just like having my options open and don't want to screw everything up because I wanted to test out new base haha.
Thanks in advanced to whom that has positive input.

[Q] Downgrade from leaked radio

I don't think I can post in developement yet..
Anyway...
Rom: VirusROM AirborneTB RC1B3
Kernel: ziggy471 2.6,32,36-BFS
I upgrades to DasBAMF 1.5 with the new radio and I couldn't send/recieve mms/sms, signal was weak, if any...
I reflashed to my backup of VirusROM at work, still kinda problems but usable..
I just flashed the
"First up, we have the 1.13.605.7 CDMA/LTE radio combo.
CDMA Radio version: 1.16.00.0402w_1
LTE radio version that came with 1.13.605.7."
at work (thinking it was the older one)... still kinda messed up but working for sms/mms etc.
Just did a fresh reflash of virusrom, not a backup, at my house can anyone give me the stock RUU for the older radio, not the leak? Signal is good, and I sms,mms work, but I had less problems on the non-leaked radio,,
nevermind
edit:
i think the radios in the radio thread should work. try rebooting, wipe, and toggling airplane mode.
but if you look at the root thread maybe try the last ruu you flash??

Kernel killed my GPS

I've been running the stock rooted ROM for some time with no issues.
Today, I decided to try the latest LeeDroid kernel. So, I restored a recent LeeDroid ROM and flashed the latest LeeDroid kernel. After that, no GPS--none whatsoever. No GPS icon on the top of the screen. No GPS readings from GPS Test and GPS Status apps.
I flashed a few different ROMs, same thing. No GPS.
After doing some research, I flashed the stock radio (with RIL) and bam, GPS is back.
I went through the LeeDroid process again, and I can confirm flashing the latest Kernel kills GPS somehow.
No big deal, since it's back, just and FYI.

[Q] Having serious GPS issues that I can't solve...

I'm wanting to know if flashing a new rom can automatically change my RIL's? I know radio does not change unless I purposely flash a new radio, but without using ROM names I'll try to describe my issue and the reason behind my question.
I was using a Sense 3.5 rom for a week with everything working just great. I decided to try a different kernel with that rom and after flashing the new kernel my gps stopped working. OK, reflash the original rom and things are back to working well.
THEN...I decide I want to try CM7 so I flash a CM rom and try it out for a couple days, decide that it's really not going to work for me and go back to original rom with original kernel.
NOW...gps is taking forever to lock, and google nav doesn't lock at all unless I open up a gps app like gps status or chartcross gps test. I flashed cryps AGPS patch for tmous users and it still has this same issue.
Any ideas, opinions, or other solutions are greatly appreciated. I use my navigation a lot and it's a key requirement for my phone so quick gps lock is extremely important for me.

Mostly the rils are replaced by the rom IF the chef puts it in. But more inclined all do.
And yes the ril and radio is essential to have gps working quickly. So you can just match the radio to the ril.
If that doesn't work, compare the rils on an old nandroid and the new rom. I'm going to say that the rils will be different.
And also in my experience, flashing different kernels also affects the gps locks as well. For me bricked and faux kernels always borked my gps. So now I only go with the bundled kernel, because most times, the dev tested out the gps with the kernel before releasing it.
You can always flash the matching radio to the RIL you now have, that should sort you out

Thanks for the answers and suggestions so far. So this is what I've done so far:
- reflashed first rom after doing a factory reset/wipe in ext4 recovery. It used to work well with my signal and my gps using the latest 10.56 TmoUS radio. After trying to get lock for 15 minutes I gave up
- read the RIL thread and flashed the recommended .169 ril for the 10.56 radio and still bad gps, no lock. What's weird is in both the above cases Ucenter gps app finds satellites but google nav and endomondo do not lock, ever. So I know my gps hardware is working but it's just not communicating with any apps.
- I'm going to now try using Superwipe and reinstalling the rom 1 more time, not sure if that will do anything at all but I'm out of ideas. Otherwise I may have to give up on this particular rom even though it used to work well.
And no, the rom does not recommend any particular radio.
Remember to try the rom (with matching ril) without flashing a kernel first.

Another WiFi Problem Thread with a twist

Hey all,
I picked up a cracked screen Sensation for my son and discovered it also had funky wifi/BT. It was bone stock running 4.0.3.
I unlocked the boot loaded, S-OFF'd, rooted and updated firmware to 3.33.
Did my research here and determined my issue was HDW related. So I order a new digitizer and LCD flex (the later includes the wifi chip).
While I waited for my kit to arrive I flashed CM10, 8/4 build I think.
Well yesterday I did my repairs and fired up the phone only to see wifi stuck at turning on - and the phone rebooting every so often. BT, however was now working fine.
So here is the twist.
I restored my stk 4.0.3 rooted nandroid and wifi works fine!:good:
But if I do a clean install of CM10 - again wifi does not work
I have read about the issues with wifi and being S-ON, but I am S-OFF.
Any thought s on how to get CM working?

Sometimes ROMs have problems with wifi, I had similliar problem with another ROM.
Some users with HTC Amaze report builds prior to April 5 had Wifi problems. Did you try CM10.1/2? For me there is no problem with wifi at all, worth a shot.
Maybe try a different ROM?
I have also experienced some wi fi issues with some of the CM 10.1/10.2 ROMS. Since there is not really an "official" CM 10.1 ROM for the sensation, you sort of have to accept that there may be some bugs. I would suggest trying CM 9.1 and see if that works for you. Since you seem to be doing a complete wipe and format before the upgrades, the only other problem could possibly be some sort of hardware issue. However, I suspect that since it worked well on a previous ROM that the problem is ROM related. I would suggest you try all the various ROMs to see if the problem goes (mostly) away on one of them. I'm current running a 10.2 ROM and have noticed intermittent problems with connecting to Wi fi, but, on the most part, things work fine.
Good luck!

Wifi error

So my wifi doesn't work.
Everytime I try to put it on, it switches off almost immediately . Sometimes I am not even able to switch it on at all. (the switch button becomes grey).
I got this phone from a friend of mine a year ago. The wifi wasn't working either back then (but I believe it had worked at some point in the beginning). When I got the phone it still had the stock rom. Then I flashed some custom roms, mostly CM (gingerbread, ICS). That didn't do any good for my wifi. So I downgraded my hboot and s-offed my phone. Also flashed a new radio, but that didn't help either.
I am slowly beginning to think that it's a hardware issue. But today, ever since a year, my wifi turned on and I was connected for 10 minutes! Then I rebooted my phone to see if it would work again, but unfortunately it didn't.
I read something about flashing a new kernel to fix your wifi, could that do the trick?
Also I read a lot about doing clean rom installs to fix your wifi (so wipe all partitions etc), tried that, didn't work.
Info about my phone:
Android 4.2.2
CyanogenMod 10.1 -20130808 -unofficial-saga
kernel version: 3.0.84-g0263617
radio (baseband version): 20.4801.30.0822U_3822.10.08.04_m
Hboot:
saga put ship s-off RL
hboot 6.98.1002
radio: 3822.10.08.04_m
I hope there are some things I have overlooked, because it would be so great if wifi could be fixed.
Thanks in advance!
flash the latest kernel by flinny, it should resolve the wifi issue,
Clean install is preferred when u change ROMS.

Just to clear things up. Do you mean the andromadus kernel? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2097379
edit:
I've flashed the andromadus kernel by kylon. Kernel version 3.0.101. Wifi still isn't working.
I can't find the kernel by flinny. Do you have a link?
