I am here from Sweden and I couldn't wait for Kies to upgrade my phone to Jelly bean with Kies, so I upgraded my phone to Jelly bean with Odin OTA which is released for Poland and its working perfectly, but now the problem is that if i connect my phone to KIES on my laptop so it gives me a message that "Your device does not support software upgrading via Kies". So please let me know if there is any solution so that I can still connect my phone with KIES software. thanks
Moved to General Q&A.
I had the same problem! Here in Brazil the update didn't come either, so I updated by Odin. I believe the only way to use kies again is going back to the original firmware(you can get it in sammobile if you need, by the way). I'm not entirely sure it's the only solution, though.

I have problems updating OTA to froyo.
Few days ago froyo was released for the i5500.
I installed XWJI2 or XWJI1 for samfirmware.com and since then I can't update using Kies anymore.
Is it possible to flash back?
Or does someone have a froyo for me?
Hi, where you get the Froyo fw. for i5500 from?
froyo is almost out for i5500. Samsung told me. It is in beta
Really? Which country are u from? this is really a great news
Sent from my GT-I5500 using XDA App
Hi everybody
I read in many forums the update from europe comming soon in december!
It's possible this is avaiable for other régions
For the update with Kies , if you have flashing a firmware from samfirmware.
Kies says "... don't update this device" no stress.
Normally kies see 2.2 Update when this is avaiable.
If you want sure .
Download à firmware with no CSC in samfirmware.com (i have used I5500XWJG9 # Version 2.1 2010 July )
Flash with ODIN
When the phone is flashed no configure this
plug your usb cable
open Kies
Kies says "Youhou i have a udpate for your phone"
Accept update
Enjoy !
Kies says you " no update avaiable for this phone"
For froyo wait and see
Can I update the i5500 with kies?
Kies says me " no update avaiable for this phone".
I want froyo!
I'v tried what qouet said, It just doesnt work anyone else with any suggestions?
Do not update to Froyo, I broke my i5500 now the phone is only PDA goes (baseband unknown) and restart without reason alone.
Hi,
I flashed my phone to the latest ICS firmware at the time, which was lp6 i think. I want to downgrade it to another official one, like the unbranded UK version so when it is released in UK I can upgrade it using kies.
I tried many firmwares but only 1 was had the ability to be upgraded via kies according to the firmware listo on sammobile.com, I tried it but Kies states Your Device Does Not Support Updating Via Kies.
So just to test, I downloaded the latest o2 ICS firmware, I still get the same message.
Anyone know what I can do so kies recognises it?
All help will be appreciated, and thanks.

Hi,
I update my Galaxy note 10.1 8010 with the firmware XXBLK9 German Jelly Bean rom last night with Odin, all went well and it's successfully installed on my device but the problem I have is that my Note will no longer connect to Kies.
All I get is the screen 'connecting device' and it doesn't move on from there?
If anyone could please help me with this I'd be very grateful as I'm worried that I will no longer be able to receive official updates.
Thanks,
Burnage
Total removal of Kies including registry entries .
Followed by install of latest Kies ..
If you go down the Kies route its the German updates you get '
Alternative join XDA Developers and flash stock roms custom roms .

OK, after having waited and waited (and then waited some more) for an official update to my GT-6800, it's still running Honeycomb and all attempts to upgrade either directly from Tab or via Kies result in either "no update available" or ""Your device's current firmware version is not supported to update firmware via Kies" - it's time to risk the brick bug and do a manual upgrade.
This raises a few questions:
- What's the best method to update - 'Mobile ODIN' or is there a better way?
- Should I go to ICS 4.0.4 first and then update to 4.1.2 or can I go direct?
- My Tab has been confirmed as vulnerable to the brick bug - what measures can I take to minimise risk?
- And why the hell have I not got an official OTA or Kies update after a year of it being available? My tab reports firmware of:
PDA:LA2 / PHONE:LA1 / CSC:LA2 (XSG)
.. do I have some sort of weird development version that isn't supported for official upgrade or something? AFAIK the Tab was untouched before I got it and unrooted (it was advertised as 'brand new' and certainly seemed so when I unboxed it so I doubt someone has been on there and rooted it, plus I did a root check and it ain't showing as rooted). It was bought via eBay from a UK supplier but is definitely a grey import as it came with a two-prong European type power adaptor and not the 3-pin UK plug.

First... KIES and the OTA upgrade system both suck. However, it's not their fault in this case: your XSG tab has the latest firmware available for that country code (XSG means your tab is from the UAE).
But save yourself from the trouble anyway. You're under HC, so the brickbug-trigger isn't set on your kernel. This means you can consider yourself safe. AFAIK JB is also brickbug-safe, so going straight from HC to JB is probably your best bet. If you do it like that, your tab will never be running under a kernel that does the secure erase that triggers the bug.
If you're not rooted and you don't intent to, just use Odin (PC Odin, not the Mobile Odin). That will factory reset your tablet, which is probably the best for stability.
Howdy. I've got a Relay that I'm using on T-Mobile, which got upgraded OTA to Android v4.1.2 . But I have another, seemingly identical Relay that used to be on T-Mobile but doesn't have a SIM that is stuck on 4.0.4 . I use it for non-phone functions over Wifi. Using the phone settings it refuses to upgrade, saying "The device is up to date." I tried using a Windows machine with Samsung Kies installed (and upgraded), but Kies says "your device current firmware version is not supported to update firmware via Kies".
I'm not really interested in rooting the phone at this point. I just want to upgrade to Android v4.1.2 so I can have the same apps on both stock phones. Any ideas?

Has the phone been previously rooted or modified? Usually that's why Kies would refuse to upgrade one.
In any case you can manually update it. The files are sprinkled around in the forum.

The phone hasn't been previously rooted or modified.
Where can I find the instructions and files to manually update it?

It's got no SIM, but it is on Wifi, and About device > Software update is what says "The device is up to date".

samfirmware and odin are apps for installing a firmware from a desktop? I don't have to root the phone or anything? I can find a stock 4.1.2 firmware for the Relay?

www.samfirmware.com is a place you can download firmwares for any Samsung Rom.
Odin is the program used to flash .tar images. You'll need Odin to flash things like stock firmwares and bootloaders like ClockworkMod (CWM)
