This has been happening for a while now. I will randomly completely lose signal and can't get it back until I reboot. I try using the airplane mode on/off method but can never get back out of airplane mode.
As of right now my power stats are:
Call standby 16%
Time without signal 51%
I probably last restarted my phone around 5 hours ago.
I also cannot turn on and off radio when this is going on via Phone Info. The buttons are just unresponsive.
Any ideas please?
Also the tmo My Account app gives me "not available at this time" messages

Strange issue with my G2X. It has worked perfectly since having it replaced due to the reboots a month ago. An hour ago I used it just fine, sending a few texts and making a phone call. Now, I turn it on, and the phone no longer gets service and the battery inidicator (stock no roms) just shows a circle instead of the the green/orange/red charge levels. I tried putting it in airplane mode and back out to refresh the signal but it simply became stuck in airplane mode. Attempting to turn off airplane mode through long press just grayed out the option. Doing it through settings force closed Android.Settings after a couple of seconds. Pulled the battery and waited a little bit, turn it back on, still the same issues. Has anyone else seen this before with their G2X or other Android phones?
Try pulling the battery while the phone is still on?

I was able to find the culprit. Never would have expected my 8gb SD Card (Not internal) to be the reason my phone suddenly crapped out on me. Removed the card and the phone worked just fine. I'll replace it with a new one after I am able to copy my files off.
After I did the OTA update to 2.3.4 on my Tmobile Sensation 4G, I cant seem to get the wifi to ever sleep. It stays on no matter where I am; next to a router, in my car, outside, at home...
Attached is an example of a typical day's usage with some charging, because recently its been draining a lot quicker. I have tried restarting, turning wifi on/off, getting rid of all of the saved wifi networks and saving them again, changing the sleep policy, turning off the best performance wifi feature, pretty much everything. I have also attached todays usage thus far, notice that wifi calling is using battery even though i have it disabled.
I don't use wifi calling, and even though its off, sometimes it shows up under the the battery draining applications. Its not on though, I don't even know why its there.
Anyone else having this issue? Please advise.
Thanks
Wi-Fi Power Fix
First off, Settings>Wireless & networks>Wi-Fi Settings>Menu>Advanced>Wi-Fi sleep policy>Never when plugged in.
After any OTA the phone builds a current index and reorganizes the file system. This can take up to lets say just from personal experience anywhere from 2-8 days depending on how loaded your phone/sd card is. It is always good to plan ahead. Spare battery in pocket, charger at work/car/home. It may seem like I’m being lazy, but it’s more pragmatic than anything. The phone will truly get noticeably zippy at some point when you pick it up and you will remember this post. Have fun with your phone. It’s a great one.
Josh-
i dont really understand what you are talking about in the second part of your post after you mention the suggestion to turn that setting on. How could a setting take 8 days to go into effect? I have been using the phone for more than 2 weeks now with the new OTA.
How did You restart Your phone ? Using "Power off" from Power options ? Sensation doesn't seem to do a real power off in this case. After switching on it will start quite fast (~5s until asking for PIN).
So have You tried "Restart" from Power options or removing the battery ?

That fast rebooting is a feature called fast boot. I turned it off, and it actually restarts the phone and doesn't put into some "hibernation" mode.
So, yes I have done a full reboot as well as a battery pull before starting again.
Still the same problem ? If so, a factory reset may solve it, but You'll loose Your data.
If Your device is rooted You can create a Nandroid backup before and restore it afterwards, if it doesn't solve the problem.

I have the same problem after the upgrade as well.
Did the sleep policy suggestion work for you?
It should come of after about 10th mins but my battery is fine. Maybe u should root and see what happens.http://attachments.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=707292&d=1314908579

So I was reaching my mobile data limit of 2gb, so i decided to turn off the data since i only had 2 days left anyway. When i disabled the data in the settings the "4G" icon stayed in the status bar and occasionly the "LTE" would also show up. I confirmed that i didnt not actually have working data. I'm curios as to why the icon would not go away. Also durring this night i slept for about 8 hours and my phone drained about 40% so im pretty sure mobile data was still effecting my battery. I'm on stock rom with root privlages. I've tried a few more times after reseting the phone and the icon stayed on. Any suggestions?
Its just to tell you what type of signal the phone has, this phone shows the data icons when on WiFi too, a lot do not.

I've been seeing all praise about how fast the GPS locks. Mine doesn't lock very fast though, if I keep the WiFi off. It often takes about a minute or even few minutes to lock, even if I'm out in the open. If I turn on the WiFi it locks almost instantaneously, and locks at a GPS-ish accuracy, i.e., down to a few meters.
Does anybody have the same issue? Is it how it's supposed to be or I have a bad GPS chip?
I'm on Verizon running root66 with WiFi toggle. Note that when I say WiFi off I meant turning it off using the WiFi toggle. I don't think the stock WiFi toggle you access from the Settings page completely turns it off, since it'll still tell you if you are near a known WiFi network, it must be turning WiFi on whenever "needed".
I'm on Sprint. Just ran a test. With WiFi on or off indoors I lock within 5 seconds.
Mine has been that way since the day I had it. U may have a bad one.

anybody on Verizon has this issue, particularly when WiFi is turned off using the toggle in notification bar?
thanks.
With WiFi off, indoors (first floor in a 2-story house), I got a 10-foot lock in less than 30 sec from a cold start on a freshly reset phone (this morning)

OK. Then there's probably something wrong with my phone. I'll try revert back to 100% stock and get an exchange if it still has problem.
Yes, my gs3 is also like this. Normally takes a few minutes. Stock rooted but was the same way before root

Maybe there will be no more cyanogen releases for this phone but I noticed a strange thing with cm-7-20130301-NIGHTLY-p999.zip a few weeks ago when I traveled outside of the US and had to put my phone in airplane mode to not get charged for receiving international roaming texts. Anyway, while in airplane mode, the battery level stays unchanged during the day of use on wifi. I have also experienced a lot more lockups while plugged in to charge in this mode. Phone seemed to freeze up over night while plugged in to charge and was warm in the morning with no display or response from buttons. Had to pull battery to get phone to come back to normal. This happened many nights in a row and when not in airplane mode the phone only seemed to lock up once in a few weeks. I can live with infrequent lockups but every night is a bit much. Can anyone duplicate this?
Flaming hot bsod is pretty common bug with this phone. Turn on stay awake while charging under Dev options and maybe that will work.

As an alternative to airplane mode.....Just remove all system apps that use the radio. Make copies of them and move them to your SD card and when you're back in the states push them back to /system with a root privileged file browser.

Had this issue myself, although it has been a few months. I will try Twitchys suggestion.

I been using Twitchyeye's suggestion for a few days and seems to work. Removing system apps seems a bit dangerous to me but thanks for the reply.
