hi guys,
just come from a rooted hero(served me very well) no s off on that!
my question is , this sensation Xe i have is android 2.3.4,sense 3.0, h boot 1.18,
do i update ota to ICS and then root ? seems more complicated?
or do i stick with this and root from GB? with h boot 1.18
which is easiest ?
from Gb do i need to up grade firmware to root to a custom ICS rom ?
thanks in advance
dean.m
Simple and short just unlock bootloader, flash any pre rooted rom and you are done..
with hboot 1.18 you can easily S-OFF your device using revolutionary.io method.then root
after that flash from bootloader 3.32 fw,3.33 fw(don't forget to rename the zip file to PG58IMG) and then from recovery flash ics custom rom
thanks for reply guys, just done s off, easy, just doing bak up, then root, then firmware, then hope fully a rom
cheers

Hi at all,
I need to know if what i saying is right.
I Have HTC Desire S with original Rom 2.10.401.8 and HBOOT 2.00.0002 S-On
My goal is to install the Endymion
I read many thread and i understood that the curret way to do this is:
1) Downgrade My ROM from 2.3.5 ( 2.10.401.8 with HBOOT 2.00.0002) to a ROM 2.3.3 with HBOOT 0.98.00000 (Ex: RUU_Saga_HTC_Europe_1.47.401.4_Radio_20.28I.30.085 AU_3805.06.02.03_M_release_199410_signed.exe)
To do this i need to follow the steps from 1 to 7 of this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20535265&postcount=26
2) Now i need to change HBOOT, Change Recovery and Root the phone. To do this i need to use Revolutionary tool for Windows from http://revolutionary.io/ and follow the istruction.
3) Now i can download the custom Rom and install using this way:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1257731
Is It right?
Thanks
K.
100% right, just follow the instructions given by a particular ROM to flash though.
You can also look at HTCdev, but no point in using it (telling HTC you have voided your warranty) so I would use your method.
And 1.47.401.4 is Hboot 0.98.0002 (not that is matters though)
I have just done this this exact way and it worked great
Hi guys. I would like do the same thing with a Desire S, hboot 2.00.0002 S-ON.
After downgrading i'll have hboot 0.98.00000 S-ON.
Than, I should use revolutionary to get my phone S-OFFed and with a new recovery tool, is it right?! (Is there any guide, cause I'm a beginner...?)
Now, is my anroid 2.3.3 phone rooted?!?! So that I can install SU to remove app...
And now, if I would like to come back to android 2.3.5 with sense 3.0 rooted, can I flash a custom rom!? Or do I need something else, like installing clockworkmod recovery?
Thanks !!!

I would install 4ext recovery or the mentioned clockworkmod recovery.
After you have done so, you can flash any ROM (custom or not).
I prefer using a sense 3.5 ROM, but you can either choose sense 3.0 or AOSP.
But before flashing a new ROM you should always backup your system and data
Have fun!

Hi there,
I ve got a lil problem right now, i m using Insertcoin GB Edition for 2.3.5 but i want to update my phone with the new edition of ICS, also Insertcoin cause i love this ROM.
My problem is, what is the right order to do this?
I need to update my Firmware, Superwipe my phone, flash new ROM, boot and reinstall Apps.
Do i have to install a diffrent backup tool like 4EXT or is it still possible to use the standard tool i installed with gettin S-off and Root?!
Does Titanium work with the new ICS Insertcoin? There are so much different opinions.
Some information bout my device:
HBOOT 1.17.1111
Radio 10.14.9035.01_M
T-Mobile DE
InsertCoin 3.4.4 / Sense 3.5 / Android 2.3.5
Thanks in advanse for all of your help!!!

Hi,
1.Backup apps and data, using TB is fine.CWM will still work in ICS
2.Install firmware(make sure it's 3.12 version),let it reboot into ROM,and delete the PG58IMG.zip
3.Super wipe
4.Flash ROM
5.Reboot
6.Install mods etc.
Thanks for your reply!
Do i need SuperCID to update the firmware? In my opinion its easier to choose which firmware i use if i got SuperCID but its not necessary.

Hi,
You are right.Super CID is not necessary, but it does make upgrading easier.
Otherwise you need to make sure your cid and mid are on the text file in the firmware update.
Thanks again for your support, i ll try my best tonite! ;o)
-install 4ext recovery (this gives you install options)
-Super CID
-Update to latest ICS F/W 3.12 and delete after boot
-nandroid
-Superwipe
-install INC-ICS rom and SMILE
Thanks to you both for your help and support since yesterday i own a sensation with IC ICS and it works just fine!!!
Hello xda users.
I want to root my sensation, and therefor i need to get it from android 4.0.3 to 2.3 so it can be possible for me to do.
My HTC
HTC Sensation Z710e
Android 4.0.3
Sense 3.6
Softwarenumber 3.32.401.5
Here is the thing, ive looked around for hours on filefactory.com
put i cant seem to find a file that can put my sensation back to stock rom, so i can start root it. Could any of you be kind and help an noob out here?
Are you S-ON?
Yes S-on ..
you can root your ICS with S-On
Go to htcDev and unloock your phone
flash in a new recovery using "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" using the recovery.img file extracted from PG58IMG.zip
then using cwr flash the updatede SU
Boom! your root
using htcdev unlock whill wipe all your programs and settings AND void your waranty. and u might brick your phone
AND FYI u cant downgrade your Hboot if u are S-ON and the new 1.27 is imposible at this time to get s-off
i will go do that asap ..
Thank you for your quick answers ..
Best regards

THe line "then using cwr flash the updated SU", can you explain further please?
Use CWM (Clockwork Mod) to flash the SU package - if you don't know how to do that then don't even try
i do know what that is, its just my english isnt that well.
i went to htcDev, and unlocked my sensation.
then i got rom manager on android market and tried Flash Cwr but im stuck at here..

ROM Manager needs root to function, and since you don't have root yet you'll have to flash the recovery through fastboot. Then you can install Superuser through your recovery.
But wait, you want to downgrade to Gingerbread? You won't be able to do that since your device will still be S-ON, and Gingerbread won't boot on HBOOT 1.27 (necessarily for ICS).
So the thing Maydayind said about
"you can root your ICS with S-On"
What did he mean with it ?
Update user Dictionary in Android 4.x
Hello,
Anyone who has an app where you can update many words into the user Dictionary?
Thanks.
Hi,
unfortunately again the same kind of question but did not find a straight answer to it.
Can you help me ?
Many thanks in advance
What I want
I want to upgrade using the OTA ICS upgrade I just received on my phone.
But, it does not work. Starting the installation, the phone reboot then stay stuck on a picture with warning sign !
I want to upgrade from the OTA file as I don't want to re-install and configure all the phone again !
How-to ??
Shall I try to un-root and uninstall CWM ? How?
Or, simply install the received OTA upgrade file from CWM option update from SD file ?
Or, something different ? Which steps to follow
Or, the only solution is to reinstall full stock rom ?? worst case !
Situation:
unbranded Sensation XE
stock rom 2.3.4, Sense 3.0. Software version 1.73.401.4
Revolutionary S-Off, Root and CWM using XDA tutorial http://cleanimport.xda/index.php?threads/1192300/
Accessing the boot (Switch On button + volume down), this brings the following:
-Revolutionary
Pyramid PVT SHIP S-OFF RL
HBOOT-1.17.1111
Radio-10.14.9035.02-2
eMM-boot
The phone has been rooted and I installed ClockWorkMod CWM 5.0.0.8
The OTA file I received is OTA_PYRAMID_LE_ICS_35_S_HTC_Europe_3.32.401.105_R-1.73.401.4_release251962...zip
Unroot using the Gingerbread RUU. Then flash the original HBOOT through ADB. At this point, on your phone, check for updates or install the ICS RUU. If that doesn't work , extract the ROM.zip from the RUU.

Hi usaff22,
thanks for the fast and straight answer...
Correct my if I'm wrong, but applying the Gingerbread RUU will reinstall the complete ROM.
Doing this, the telephone will be completely refreshed. All config/apps/data will be gone isn't it ?
This was precisely what I was trying to avoid.
If there is no other solution, then that's life. Cryinggggg....
Hi, guys, first of all I'm an absolute noob so bear with me if I didn't found all the answer even after having searched through the forum.
My big question is about the re-engineered HBOOT 2.00.002. I have a virginal Desire S, non s-off'ed and non rooted, HBOOT is the latest, that is 2.00.002. I want to load the latest official ICS rom from htc and, as I think I understood, HBOOT must be latest version, therefore non s-off since there is no way to s-off that version. But I also would like to just go to CM10 in the future.
Then I read about the re-engineered HBOOT 2.00.002. This HBOOT should give me s-off and the ability to load the ruu rom. Only catch is that you should re-partition the phone. And that's when things get weird. Does I need to do the re-partitioning before installing the ruu ICS rom after installing the re-engineered HBOOT? If so, in order to install the ruu ICS rom, does I need to have any working rom on the phone, that is, does I need to do the nandroid backup to have back my ginger bread 2.3.5 before installing the ruu ics rom?
And going on, currently there is any way to root the phone while on ICS htc stock rom?
But most important of all, what this re-enginnered hboot really is? The revoked/revolutionary mod only works on hboot versions before the 2.xxxx. Is this re-engineered hboot a 2.00.002 official hboot that has been modified to be s-off or is it a previous hboot s-off'ed via revolution but with a different version number?
Thank you all,
Vincent.

If I was you I would forget about the re-engineered HBOOT and just run the RUU and put ICS on your phone.
The re-engineered HBOOT is only for people who have S-Offed using the revolutionary method and have had trouble with the Android 4.0 Sense ROMs. You have absolutely no need to use it now.
If you want CM10 in the future then all you need to do is unlock your bootloader with htcdev, flash a new recovery (4EXT or CWM) and install CM10 from your custom recovery. You will be required to flash the boot.img file separately if you are S-On.
Hi Kavrocks, thank for your prompt answer. I'll surely follow your advice, it's the easiest way and my first goal is to get an easy ICS on my phone. My only doubt is about being able to get to cm10 or whatever else since no rooting hack has already been developed for the new ICS rom.
Do you think HTC will push updates on the new ICS rom or, being it for developer only, it will be just stuck to its original state?

Original.
By what I understand, now that an official ICS ROM is out and thus binary drivers are available, we should expect a fully working non-original ROM in a short time. How much time do you think it will take for the CMx developer to integrate the binaries into the CMx ROM?

Don't tell this my Desire S, HBOOT 2.00.002, S-ON, unlocked with stock ICS and root
Just do this:
- unlock your phone: www.htcdev.com
- Install stock ICS
- install a custom recovery using fastboot
- install superuser using custom recovery
Ok, I've succesfully got ICS on my Desire, eventhough I had to do a 'fastboot oem lock' to get past a 155 error. Now, would you please be so kind to tell me the exact filename of the superuser exploit that you have applied on ICS? I'm asking this to you because I've tried the 3.1.3 on GB2.3.5 and it always hang on 'waiting root access right'.
Thank you.
Vincenzo.

Ok, I'll answer to myself, use the CWM-SuperSU-v0.95.zip archive. It works with ICS.
