[Q] Clockwork and no backup

Howdy all, yay another newbie!
Phone is a droid 2, verizon network. I rooted it last night with the super 1click, have SU access, wireless tether and installed rom manager free version.
Flashed cwm recovery to 2.5.08, tried to backup existing rom and had an immediate reboot with no backup made. Tried repeatedly same results, reflashed cwm repeatedly same results. Tried to change the cwm recovery version, and have
2.5.08
2.5.1.4
2.5.1.3
2.5.1.1
listed. But trying to load any but 2.5.08 returns "An error occurred while downloading your recovery.
I tried going into CWM recovery through rom-manager but it immediately reboots back to normal, no recovery screen.
I entered into normal recover and tried to run the 'update.zip' which returns
E:Can't open /cacherecover/command
Install from sdcard
finding update package
opening update package
verifying update package
E:failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verification failed
installation aborted
I wiped back to factory through the normal recovery screen and started fresh and am getting exactly the same as before with everything above tried again.
I have not tried installing a new rom, don't want to go that deep until I know I can reset if needed.
Any help or other ideas? What I've been able to find by searching hasn't resolved the problem yet.

When I am trying to go back to my previous ROM, I am getting the following error: "error while flashing boot image".
Initially i got "check MD5 failed" error. But after removing the spaces in the recovery file name, md5 error gone, but got error for flashing boot image.
How can I fix it? other than reflash.. I want to restore my settings.
Thanks in advance
bump
any idea? is this error message depend on current ROM?

Error Messages in recovery

Everytime I attempt to flash from a zip file in recovery mode I get operation aborted and error message. I never abort it. I have unlocked my bootloader and s-off my phone. I noticed in recovery it says (Tamper) and ideas how to bypass this message. Its annoying and I am unable to install a custom rom due to this. I have been using weaksause to root while phone is on and SuperSU will not install continues to give error messages. I am not sure what I am doing wrong. I have googled and tried so many ways without luck. I am a noob at most of this but have used google a lot and understand quite a bit but I am lost.

[Q] boot loop

hello,
I am new to android. I by mistake wiped all data including system and what so ever. SD card was also not mounting so I put rom images in pendrive and tried to install it via OTG it was showing some error "/system and ... are not found or someting". So I again restarted, but it is not starting up. Also recovery is not staring. I tried to flash recovery again it is showing " MISMATCHED partition size (recovery)" Can anybody tell me what to do !!!!!!!!!!!!
:crying:
The mismatched partition size error is not necessarily bad. The custom recovery file size is not the same size as the stock recovery which gives you the error message. The message doesn't mean the custom recovery won't work.
Then what shall I do?? See I tried to flash stock rom via fastboot, but it is showing "<bootloader> Permission denied " as my device is showing UNLOCKED .
What bootloader is on your phone? Downgrading the bootloader version on your phone may not be allowed.

Cannot flash any ROM

Hello everybody,
I unlocked the device, I installed twrp-2.8.7.0-shieldtablet, I made a backup, I wiped (factory reset) and I tried to flash several ROMs from twrp but I always get the same error.
Code:
[...]
This package is for device: shieldtablet; this device is .
E:Error executing updater binary in zip '/sdcard/anyROM.zip'
Error flashing zip '/sdcard/anyROM.zip'
[...]
What's wrong? I read that you guys made it work like it's not a big deal. So sad.
