GREAT THREAD!!! but one thing......its funny you should say "gameloft won't stop developing for android" because, tell me this IOS has had wild blood for a month now and gameloft wrote on their facebook page "coming september for android." well wake up and smell the fu***** coffee gameloft its ALMOST THE END OF SEPTEMBER!
Another big issue with gameloft is their updates. MODERN COMBAT 3 for IOS got a update 3 months ago. In this update gameloft added two new multiplayer maps, one more perk, gun buff's and nurfs, and one more game mode. Tell me this where the hell is it for android???
Last one. A week or so ago gameloft updated Nova 3 for IOS again a new map, new game mode and Voice CHAT they updated it to 1.0.2. Seems funny huh? android had that version 2 Weeks before IOS got it.
this is a quote of the android update and what they added.
New in this version:
- Added support for Google Expansion File system, ensuring seamless installation for new users
- Improved performance and stability
- Fixed a bug concerning inventory consistency in single player
- Various minor fixes and improvements
- More devices supported

NEW MULTIPLAYER MAP
The Warehouse map is now available in Multiplayer mode. This exciting new map offers a great mix of close- and long-range combat opportunities for maximum fun. NEW MULTIPLAYER MODE
Tread carefully in Team InstaGib mode, as you and your enemies all have the same weapon, and even a single hit means instant death!

this is a very short conversation between me and gameloft, i asked them about it and they only got back to be a few hours ago (since this was posted.
the reply was
@gameloft
@George_av Unfortunately, we don't have exact release dates for Wild Blood or the MC3 Android update, but rest assured, they're on the way!
Click to collapse
ok huh? so they are gonna release a update and wild blood?, sound to good to be true. Maybe in 100 years they will but we won't be getting any new game or update in the next few months, the way they are playing it.
See a patten? err yup. gameloft are at apple's knee's. GameLoft want to the the "activision for mobile but they are no where close. microsoft and activision have a contract, the contract is "all game updates, DLC and releases are to be for the Microsoft Xbox 360 first, followed by ps3 PC a month later" sounds like what gameloft is doing. Nope. gameloft seem to be on a contract will apple that goes something like this " games, game updates, and new maps modes should be released for IOS first then never for android!" (obviously that is completly fake no such thing exists.
So you may be asking why no android love?. I don't know but it may be something to do with piracy, or just that they don't have any android developers. I have no clue.
How do we get their love back?.
will gameloft EVER consider android as a number one priority? or what.
what is your views on this situation, is android gaming at stake?
you decide. you be the judge.
thanks for your time please don't call me a bias a$$hole this is just me saying we should do something about it we are a large comunity and we can fight it. if you found this helpful please hit the thanks button
Cool story? ***** for a refund if you're not happy, they're not entitled for eternal game support for selling you a game once. Neither are they obliged to update Android at the same time as iOS, or if ever. *shrugs*

IF your saying that, then why should the even be developing for android? if they don't update?
Obviously ios is their priority right now with the recent launch of ios6 and the latest iphone with a different resolution. There haven't been any big changes to android for awhile now.
If you don't like the company, it's simple, don't buy from them. We live in a modern era and in a location that we are able to make any choices that we want.

They don't NEED to update unless the base product doesn't work as advertised. The content updates are provided "free of charge" as plus value.
Ios is a lot better os than android...so it provides stability in just 1 time...iphones don't have different versions for differebt phones, so there are less bugs and are faster to develop...whereas we have many roms and versions for android...they have to configure the game for each 1 of them and it takes much time....if a game runs on your device that doesn't mean it will run on every phone....we have different files for qvga hvga wvga whereas there id only one display for iPhone....

It has to be said. Gameloft games are pretty bad. I can't believe you're basing Android gaming as a whole on one developer.

Ios is easier to maintain period. ***** and moan all you like but developers would, more often than not, work with a stable and predictable environment. Easier to get apps out, easier to update. You bought the android version, stop right there. You should not expect the same updates. If and when they update, be happy, they will take their time. CTRL C and CTRL V does not work. This false sense of entitlement amuses me to no end.

It isn't all about the quality, it's about how good the game play is. Nevertheless, (Game names, not developer names), The Bard's Tale, Dead Trigger, GTA III, Dark Meadow, SHADOWGUN, most of Glu Mobile games, most of EA Games.

At the end of the day a format like apple will be easier to develop for due to no real hardware differences.
Don't mean squat to Android though. The user base is so huge for us that developers will always be here.
And just for the record, gameloft ain't all that. Their apps are generally mediocre

A better target for easy development without hardware support issues for unskilled/lazy developers who want to pawn off shoddy programmed shovelware to the masses of iClones, maybe.

Yaay that's creepin' awesome. Hopethere will be all NPC, crafting and NPC structures! And I hope you can upload your saves from PC to the Pocket Edition.
And we have more info!
http://www.minecraftforum.net/news/346-mojang-lego-collaboration-pocket-edition-info/
Daniel Kaplan recently elaborated on the future of Minecraft - Pocket Edition, amid speculation regarding future updates, fixes and more. He noted that one of the earliest priorities during the release of the iOS version was ensuring the stability of the game, which temporarily suspended updates on the Android version. However, as the last major update for the iOS version prepares to roll out, Daniel has shared that one of the first things they plan to work on is a version of Survival Mode for Pocket Edition. While it will not be a point-for-point carry-over of the desktop Survival Mode - which isn't conducive to a touch-screen environment - he provided the following itinerary for future updates:
A new file system – to make sure we can support items and mobs in the world
Item system – to be able to pick up items
Crafting – This will probably need some iterations since the interface will be customized for the touch devices
Inventory system
Mobs – animals and enemies!
Optimizing rendering code – we are experimenting with caves but need to make it work better before we are able to release it
Clean up of code and overall optimization
Please note that we don’t have any dates set yet. Also, please make sure you update your phone/pods to the latest version of your operating system for best compatability.
I updated my minecraft and now i get error messages down the left side of the screen, can't wait for Survival though, then it'll be unreal

Because it was the "flagship" phone for this service. It IS a supported phone, they still show it on their website and produce and sell them new. I see no reason they won't support the Play, its not like it will have a hard time playing these mini games and we already know it plays PSOne titles no problem.

None of the articles mention the PLAY, nor do any of the pictures show it. I would be very surprised if this will support the PLAY.
Think about it. No other "playstation certified" device has a physical gamepad or is likely to. It seems very unlikely to me that Sony will require developers spend additional time for just one device with a questionable sales record, and to which a successor is looking increasingly unlikely.
This doesn't bother me too much, seeing as most of the two-bit games showcased look mediocre at best, and I question the likely success of such a programme anyway. See, other than further fragmentation and the proprietary nature of a closed platform, what benefit does a developer have to jump ship to Sony mobile programme and not just focus their efforts on the already established and hugely popular Google Play store?
What does bother me however is the discontinuing of the PSOne classics to coincide with the launch of PS Mobile. Should I be right in assuming us PLAY users won't be invited to the party, discontinuing future updates to something we already have access to is just a further slap in the face...

The Play will work as the PS Certified SDK allows the game to work with a consistent set of controls, screen or physical (basically any PS cert game will always work on the Play). There is no additional programming needed.
Also there is another announcement with a full press release and the Play is included.

Wow - for a bunch of people who don't care, you all seem to have taken considerable effort to find your fancy 'I don't care' pictures and post them here.
Why not spend that energy explaining instead why Gameloft isn't a pile of turd that overcharges for badly thought out and badly executed 'games' while managing to convince the Android gaming community that their products are cutting edge? Why not show me anyone who is able to glean any enjoyment out of the recent batman game after paying for what they promised to be a brilliant open world adventure? Or anyone who enjoys the laggy, impossible-to-control, stupidly scripted, and just bad looking antics of the modern combat series? Not to mention the ridiculous in app purchases in most of their other games.
It's time to put an end to the illusion that Gameloft is a top android game team - they are a bunch of cynical hacks interested in nothing but cashing in on movie franchises or the promise of an android 3rd person shooter while NEVER delivering a polished and enjoyable finished product. Unfortunately for most of us, their downloads take so long we can no longer get a refund after trying these awful games.

Dont worry
Plus everybody hates them i guess(including me) but considering how android is, a new gaming company will start making quality games for android(with those hardwares out there is a must) and leave gameloft in the dust

Yes gameloft sucks! But whining here isn't gonna change that! And I believe its better than games in ios correct me if I'm wrong! And apparently many people happen to like the batman game and modern combat series! It's a matter of what you like and dislike!
P.s if you want good control in a third person shooter game or fps pair a Xbox or ps3 controller with your phone and play!

And what's the reason?
Every time i run a gameloft game i hate to connect to internet and download 2gb of data.. That sucks

Look 6 to 7 bucks a game tops it beats spending 60 on a Xbox or ps3 games that you don't even have time for or even out gets old quick. Don't buy if you don't like them. Most of the games I Google the games apk first to try then if I like I'll buy them just giving heads up.

Cracking Sands, a racing game was plan to exclusive for xperia play on tgs 2011.
Then, after over a year's delay,it finally released simultaneously to android and ios... forget the ridiculous exclusive, there's even no xpo at all!!
I just played it on iphone, yeah,it was a great game but i hate rubbing the ****ing screen or shake phone like a idiot! All devs' doing just piss me off!
if there's no xpo added i will never buy anything of this company any more...
So,i think all the fuxking stuff just indicates that from this year on,there's no xperia play optimized any longer,never...
anyway,here is the store link...
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.polarbit.crackingsands
Ah man. No xpo.??? That's it. I'm going to get their email address and email them a complaint. WTH. Oh and I will post their email address here. Lets fill their email inbox with our voices. This is one game I wanted since getting this phone 18 months ago
Whose with me???!?!?!?!?!?!!?
Email address:
[email protected]
EDIT: I have emailed them. Here is what I wrote:
Hello,
As a faithful Xperia PLAY user since its release in 2011. I remember the game Cracking Sands being one of the games I have been waiting patiently for 15-16 months only to find that its release is devoid of any Xperia PLAY support. I would like to respectfully request that you please consider releasing this game with full xperia play functionality as it was originally intended as a Xperia PLAY exclusive all those months ago. Please consider the many many users of this phone you have so abruptly disappointed.
Please consider releasing an Xperia PLAY optimized version that fully supports everything this phone has, gamepads, touchpads, triggers, game launcher.
Thank you for your time, and I am respectfully asking that you please release this game for our phone.
Sincerely,
Jesse

Dont understand why not? We got in contact about XP controls on their up and coming game Reprise (or whatever it's called) and they said that would have support so why not this? Oh well hope they sort it out soon.

So I bought this and the game does use the dpad. But no game launcher support and I didn't see any touchpad support. So it's barely limited xperia play support

Yeah. The right trigger can be used to jump, x is for nitro, triangle is for shooting, dpads for movement. So it plays nice on our XPlays.
But I understand the other XDA members anger here. This was supposed to a Xplay exclusive & now is being released with limited Xplay optimization.

I wouldnt say I am mad, just that after all this time.... disappointed. Thats a good word.. disappointed. Been over 24 hours since I emailed them my request and not s ingle word back... but it is the weekend
Got a reply from my email to them:
"Xperia Play is supported for in-game controls.
Steering pad to steer
"Action buttons" to use weapons
R-trigger to jump
Menu button (under the steering buttons) to respawn kart
There is no support for Xperia buttons in menus however.
I don't think we've ever said this would be an Xperia Play exclusive title, but I could be wrong. It's been in development for a while. Please let me know where we gave this information and I will have a look into it.
Best regards,
Tommy

Hmm..... maybe I'm uptight but unless it at least shows in the Xperia game launcher it doesnt feel truly optimized.....
And....................... my reply to Tommy's email from Polarbit:
"Hello Tommy,
Thank you for getting back with me. I did a quick look up and according to this articles:

This games was originaly listed as exclusive to the Xperia PLAY. I have purchased this game and it does sort of use the controls, I was hoping it would be fully supportive of our device, touchpads, triggers, Xperia PLAY game launcher. I realize this has been in developement for at least 18 months if not more, and I also am aware that the xperia play is an aging device. Guess when I saw that this game was released, over the Xperia play XDA forum, we were all hopefull it would support the devices gaming abilities fully. Anyways, thank you again for the reply and if there is ever any plans to update this game to fully support the phone I would be really excited to know. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Jesse

GOOD JOB man~! and take this http://thedroidguy.com/2011/06/exclusive-first-hands-on-with-cracking-sand/
This is the demo for xperia play exclusively on June 8, 2011 just like DMC4! How could they said those words?
Seems that our XP has been totally forgotten,i don't expect about the fully optimized by now. The only thing i hope is that when they could shut down the G-Sensor steering. it seriously affected the handing when using the dpad.

Got another reply, oddly it came from this Tommy guys email address rathen then Polarbit:
"Hey Jesse,
I think those articles stem from a little misunderstanding on SE's part. Exclusives are a very bad fit to our philosophy, which is fairly multiplatform-centric.
We do feel that supporting the in-game controls of the Xperia is important, since that adds significantly to the experience. Menus and stuff, not so much. A lot of work to adapt, and in the end usually works better with touch anyway.
Will forward the request to add Xperia Play launcher support to the devs for consideration.
Cheers,
Tommy

My reply to that email.................
"Hello Tommy,
Thank you again ffor replying. I appreciate your prompt replies. Also, in regards to the exclusive part, I dont know why if it was never meant to be portayed as an exclusive, why ther would be so many websites claiming back in the summer of 2011 that it was exclusive.
Just wanted to share this.....

Dang this guy is fast at resplying, took like 20 minutes:
"I think SE demo:ed it at E3 2011 as an exclusive, due to a misunderstanding on their part. All the info I can find reference this same occassion. Regrettable, and possibly something that should have been addressed at the time. Chanses are these articles would remain, however, without any reference to corrections.
Hope you'll be able to enjoy the game nonetheless.
Cheers,
Tommy

Not that there isnt a time to be demanding, or a bit more blunt. But I felt in regards to this situation and the fact Tommy really was excellent at replaying to my emails (within minutes, literally) and given the situation with how our phone is aging... I felt that being a jerk or coming across as unappreciative of his time and the situation with the game... basically being nice and appreciative felt like it could help us get the full xperia play optimization we would love to have, rather then its current version. But again, even if it never does get updated I would be disappointed but I would also understand from their point of view if its worth updating for our phone and its upcomg two year birthday.
Here's to crossing our fingers and hoping for good news soon. Also, side note... Polarbit was the best custoemr service experience I have had from a developer.....

I emailed Robert Broglia who is the awesome developer of so many .EMUs on Google PLAY store about a possible N-Gage emulator. I realize the phone was horrible but it did have a few gems, Glimerati, Asphalt (yes the same as we have now), and of course the three reasons to own an N-Gage Ashen, Elder Scrolls Travels: ShadowKey, Requiem of Hell.
Yes, I owned an N-Gage and at the time enjoyed it, but for those games above alone this phone was worth it. If anyone is interested in this possiblity please email Robert at the address below and ak/encourage him with support for this. I think it would be kind of cool to play N-Gage games on our Xperia PLAY seeing as how both phones were touted as gaming phones.. obviously the PLAY is much much better contender for that title then the N-Gage... anyways please contact him if this is something that you would like, you never know what might happen.
And for those who think this is a stupid thread that is your opinion and you are entitled to it same as myself and others are...... but if you dont like this thread keep it clean and on topic in a positive light, I DO NOT want this thread to go down as a "trash the N-Gage" thread. Thank you.

Excellent idea. I loved my N-Gage regardless of what people thought of the phone side of it. My favourite games were ashen, pandemonium and Colin McRae.
On another note, I was looking for a gameplay video of ashen a year or so on youtube for reminiscing purposes when I discovered ashens videos, which now take up most of my time when I sit at my computer!

Despite the ridiculing the 32x received, I loved mine. I got Virtua Fighter for Xmas the year it came out and I remember waking at about 4am Xmas morning and playing it for about 6 hours straight!!!
There were some other games that were good as well. Star Wars Arcade and Stellar Assault I enjoyed, and although the fighting wasnt great, Cosmic Carnage was really impressive with its scaling effects! And dont forget Doom!!!

Hey guys - you efforts are nice - but did you ever think about:
- That .EMU dev ist the real developer of the emulators he provides - according to his HP he just ported them to android using his Imagine-Engine.
- Developing an emulator for a single person takes AGES if there is no former work or knowledge on it.
- Did he even answer to your request? Like: "lets see how many people are interested in? Or do you just call up to spam that guy heavy?
- A short google search on an n-gage emu - doesn't bring up much (might be cause the n-gage was a big fail) - at least no former open-sourced emulators (ok I just spent 5min on it - so i might have overlooked one). So even if you spam this guy heavily - he propably can't do it.
I know - you didn't mean it that way - but please be sure to have some conversation with a dev before you call up for a spam session in a big and open forum.

I have been searching for over a year keeping an eye out for an n-gage emulator with no luck. And as such I decided to contact the Dev for the .EMU series of emulators in hopess that he would be interested in it as a possibility or at the least he may know of someone who may or may not be able to help. When I created this thread it was my intent to get others who would be interested in an emulator as a means of genereating interest and contacting the dev above. I know you probably didnt mean it to sound that way but I do not appreciate the words "spam session" as this is not my intent.
When I think of an idea or find something that I feel others may enjoy I like to share it, this is simply nothing more then an idea in hopes that if contacted with the right individuals would turn into something more. So please be cautious of just slapping "spam session" on something.
Now.... lets turn this back to the thread on topic. If others may find or think of another developer to contact please bring it up. Thank you.
Apparently there WAS an Ngage emulator for Symbian called N-Gage Cool back around 2005, but the developers site and all sites hosting it have long since stopped working. I found one working link to it on an emulator website, lets just say it was a paradise, but it has gotten nothing but terrible reviews and claims of being a virus. Regardless, there is a precedent for a mobile Ngage emulator.

Thats the N-Gage 2.0 where it was a software platform designed to run on different Nokia phones. I had that on my old Nokia N-95 8gb a few years back. What I am referring to is the N-Gage phone from 2003/2004.
Edit: Or did you mean ngageman? The old emu from 2007 for newer nokia/symbian phones?
