Go to CWM and restore your backup.

Agree with above, if created with CWM then use CWM once again to restore.

Cant it be made a single flashable zip?

You have to boot into recovery and use that to restore. It automatically extracts all files and does everything for you.
I think it has to be in /sdcard/clockwordmod/backup/

Regarding ROM Manager

For new people. It does not work on the sgs4g. It will cause issues. You will not get a working cwm recovery from it.

If on froyo 2.2 install cwm final by krylon360. Its in the dev section. You can make a backup in cwm recovery.

So how did u apply cwm final manually with update.zip ?

If on froyo you have to download the moddified recovery.bin file and use a file explorer app to push it to the system/bin folder. Make sure that the file explorer app is set to r/w so the file sticks. Once you have that then put the update.zip file on your SD card and boot into recovery and hit reinstall packages. You could also Odin the Bali kernel. If in gb Odin one of the modded kernels Dr honk made.

the Bali kernel is a ZIP though, and Odin only does TAR
there is an odin version available. search for it in the development section
wow nice. found it and flashed it. freaking out at my phone telling me in sexy robot chick voice what it's doing. thanks man

[Q] Please Help

Hey im new to atrix 2 because i had nexus one and samsung infuse in the past and there flashing instructions where easy but for me this seams complicated. So far i rooted my Atrix 2 and ive installed bootstrap. MY goal is to install this rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1584505 but im not sure what to do because i was reading different threads and some people say you need cwm on boot others say you do some other stuff.... Can someone expierienced give me step by step instructions of what to do next thank you.
Sonya comes with cwm on boot. Just download the zip and extract it to the cwm folder on your sd card, then do a full wipe, and then restore it.

Every time you reboot it automatically goes into cwm.

Then to get into rom all you have to do is press reboot from the recovery?
Yes. We don't have a way to actually flash an alternate recovery image, so doing it this way helps prevent softbricks.

Why won't my phone make a nandroid backup?

After I flashed the unlocked or insecure downloader. I tried to make a nandroid backup and it says that it failed to back up the boot image. Help?

Which recovery are you using? What options did you check before backup?

Odin vs twrp/cwm better/worse?

What are the pros and cons?
Flashing ROM/gapps/modem. Etc

For modems/roms/kernels, CWM and TWRP are personal preference. I don't believe there are Odin versions of the JB modems available, just ICS, so it can't really be compared. I am a recent convert to TWRP and I find it is great and allows me to name backups prior to making a backup. CWM is reliable and just as easy. Although backups are improperly dated on CWM, same for TWRP if you forget to manually name it, but it's a personal preference thing really.
Odin is Odin. There when I need it but hopefully I don't need it.

I use Odin when I'm bricked. Only then.

Backup or Update.zip?

Just a general question. I'm new to flashing ROMS and I was curious about is there any advantage to creating an Update.zip file over using my recovery program to backup my current ROM? thanks
