I'm posting this to clear up some erroneous information as to why "Android is Upgrading \ Starting Applications" displays every time Android boots up.
Contrary to the answers I found via Google searches, it is *not* normal for Android 4.0.3 nor is it a quirk of any specific ROM build. Incidentally, there is no Ti ODEX file.
It was, at least for me, caused by a combination of Titanium Backup's "Integrate sys Dalvik into ROM" and its "Auto-integrate sys Dalvik into ROM" option found in the preferences. Once I did "Undo sys Dalvik integration" and disabled the "Auto" option in preferences, I no longer see this screen. If you prefer the Dalvik integration, then you'll just have to suffer with this minor annoyance.

Many thanks for posting this here, this is exactly what I was suffering from. Unfortunately it's too late, I did a hard reset in the meanwhile

Hi,
After a SuperWipe and a clean intall of ARHD 3.6.0, 24h later I experienced a strange bug, I never seen that issue on any Android phone so far.
Have a look at those screen captures :

Only the Lockscreen and Sense are affected by this. If I start any apps or go to my People everything is fine.
Also, since I can capture this on a screen shot, it is more related with software then hardware, not sure 100% but logically it must be.
Have you ever seen this problem? Any hint to resolve this?
This problem appear after I removed the Stock.apk ant Tweeter.apk via SystemAppRemover.
Thanks for your time.

Hi,
The best thing you can do is to wipe cache partition and dalvik(advanced),and re-install the ROM.
This will reset everything.
Did you make a NANDROID Backup?
It is always wise to do this Before you make any changes,or add any mods.
That way if there is any problem,you can easily(and quickly)restore everything back to it's original state.
Thanks for answer!
I did all that, yes. I did thought of clearing both caches in first but that didn't fix nothing. I did a have a Nandroid backup it's a big problem, but I just wanted to understand why this had happen suddenly like that, and actually see if a solution for that issue can be found.
I will SuperWipe and install a backup copy, thanks.
First of all let me say that I flashed [ROM] ICS - CWM flashable (option B) (sorry, can't post links yet), coming from Revolver 3.11.1 and I am very happy with the result. Since I am a new member, I can't post my Thanks to the developers section just yet, so thank you @dipje and @MrNago for your work.
Now my issue is that of bloatware in the new ICS release. I have found a relevant thread about the issue, named [INFO/WIP] List of ASUS apps/libs/etc that can be removed 'safely?', but it was "Last edited on 23rd May 2011" so I'm afraid it's a bit outdated and I don't know if the file dependancies are the same in ICS.
So, now with ICS has anything changed? What apps are safe for removal (ASUS or not) in order to get to the absolute minimal installation?
Also, another minor question: when deleting an .apk file, do I need to delete the accompanying .odex file as well? And will the relevant icon from the apps drawer be deleted on its own?
In case needed, my TF101 is rooted (of course) and I have no dock (nor plan to buy one).
TIA
Rather than uninstall them, without rooting in ICS you can disable any stock apps. I do not use EMail so I disabled it. Go to Settings - Apps - All - (pick your app) - Disable
Thanks, I didn't know that (among others...).
Obviously, if ICS allows such an action, it means that it is safe to do for any app.
Is that correct? Just double-checking...
Great tip.. thanks for that. I had no idea.
I've now disabled a bunch of bloat!
Will only work on those apps in rom, not downloaded apps. Eg google+ you cannot disable, but email yes

Has anyone noticed that not all stock apps included in the ROM can be disabled?
For example I can not disable MyLibrary. There are other ASUS apps that I can't do this to as well.
I disabled the gallery app and it has since disappeared from the app list in settings. I don't really care to bring it back right now, but I'm hesitant to disable any more until I can figure out how to reenable this one. Any one noticed this behavior?
TF201 stock ICS
disable/enable system apps
If your device is rooted, there are number of tools to disable/enable( or freeze/unfreeze) system apps. Some of these tools are:
ROM Toolbox
App Quarantine
Titanium backup
I was using the AOSP ICS build posted by jt1134 (at rootzwiki dot com/topic/11697-rom-cdma-aosp-ics-cm9-build101-0418/) for the Galaxy Tab CDMA. The first couple of nightlies worked OK on the tablet, but the camera never worked right. Someone else insisted that the camera works correctly on new builds, so they suggested I use CWM to wipe system, and I took it to mean wipe everything so as to start from scratch, and I wiped /data too. Apparently this triggered the emmc erase bug or something, so now my internal SD is useless.
Nobody over in that thread appears to be willing to make a build that works around the issue. I've already tried partitioning my SD card and editing vold.fstab and updater.rc inside the ROM, but these are apparently useless unless init.rc in the boot image (zimage I guess) is changed. A person attempted that but seems to have gotten the filesystem type wrong in the build (ext2 instead of ext4), and is unwilling to make another attempt. I don't know anything about compiling a custom ROM myself. I've looked into decompressing/recompressing the zimage, but it's too much for me.
What I'm asking here is, can anyone help get a build of ICS to me that I can flash, that will ignore the internal SD and use the external? This site is awash with reports and fixes for Encryption Unsuccessful for other phones and tablets, so I'm hoping somene here can understand my frustration. I haven't been able to use the tablet for over a month now, I think, and I'm not getting anywhere on my own. TIA
Why not ask this great forums section for your device...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1081
And which thread are you referring to...the thread at the other site....? I bet if you present your question or request here at the XDA for your device you will get an answer. Thank you.

I'm having this trouble of low internal space [130 MB] in my Qmobile X6. [I've pasted screen caps of the phone HW/SW configurations].

I don't exactly remember how I solved this issue a few years back with my HTC WFS, but I do know that it was solved.
So I searched the internet and saw a video on YouTube about "External 2 internal"
I installed the app and while it prompted me for root, I accidentally tapped on the External to Internal button without setting the app as instructed. :crying:
This has resulted in restructuring of the entire storage space and I can't seem to fix any of that. All i remember was that it showed SDC as this:
But now it shows this:
I know that it has swapped the address, but IDK what the original one was to restore in the first place.
It has created these weird partitions and I can't seem to understand what's wrong with it.
I tried deleting the block folder in root/dev/ but it comes back after boot.
The files inside block are as follows:
I tried factory reset but no help.
Also, it has automatically removed all my linked apps. The link2sd now shows 2 partitions of the same storage space but after every reboot, the l2sd app disappears, and so does all those who get linked to SD.
Hi @sulayemaan. Since you messed up your partitions a factory reset won't help. You might have to flash the stock firmware again. There's no dedicated forum for your device here so try posting your query in:

Experts there may be able to help you.
Good luck
Hello. It's been about 5 years, and a lot has changed:
-twrp is broken, fastboot fun times
-I've got to go "systemless" root for Google pay & safety net
-there's partitions A and B to worry about
But my main question is, with these things in mind, how am I going to restore from a TB backup from my old phone? (It has all my sms, call logs, apps and data, etc)
Maybe someone can point me in the right direction for how to achieve a rooted android 10 P3a that passes safety net and will allow me to restore my titanium backup, presumably using magisk as the root method.
Is the process straightforward or are there some extra steps and things to keep in mind, any major differences?
Thoughts, comments, questions, concerns? Do tell!

Alright buddy,
If I follow this guide, then install TB, then restore... If I get one single error along the way... Then I'm holding you personally accountable, Mr... Andisa, if that is your real name.
Don't worry guys, I've done the research and compiled a nice guide for you.
Step 1. Install TB and backup everything
2. Now install Split APK Installer
3. Set the filter settings as seen in this helpful image below:

"lightbox_download": "Download",

"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
4. Look at the list of all the apps that TB will fail to restore
5. Uninstall TB
6. Search for a modern-day complete backup and restore solution while continuing to pray that we'll someday return to the golden era of android custom development.

Looks like you owe me an apology.
You could also try the tools provided by my Android Backup Project. Those should work on Android 7 - 11 but unfortunately not yet tested much on non stick Android builds
