(App tip) Find your phone by whistling - Android General

Hi everybody, I was going through the play store today and found an app called Whistle Locator Pro.
You can literally find your phone just by whistling, really cool!
I think this app is only available on Android and iOS for now, so sorry windows phone users :/.
(Just to let you know I am not in any way affiliated with the app, but just wanted to share it with all of you, so please do not ask me or blame me for any problems!)
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda-developers app

Just recognize there's probably a heft battery cost to an application that continuously monitors for a whistle, even with the display off.

Television on XDA / XDA 2

Maybe im losing my mind, but is it possible to watch real TV on an XDA?
Surely there could be some software that can descramble TV signals picked up by the ariel and put it into a picture on screen.
Wouldnt that be cool? or maybe it already exists!
Yeah, and maybe I could use my portable tv for a pocket pc and cellphone. Or maybe the microwave oven for a widescreen navigation system. The possibilities are endless.
Thanks for the sarcasm, but using a phone to take pictures, browse the internet and listen to music seemed crazy ideas a few years ago. Now look at what they can do!
If you wanted a phone that only made phone calls you made a silly choice buyin both an XDA and XDA 2. Go back to your Nokia 3210!
Also, I hear there is some sort of add on for a nintendo game boy that does this. So if an underpowered game boy can do it, then why not XDA 2?!
Also... here is a PPC phone that can do it, but is it software or hardware?!

It's not possible on the XDA series, but phones are coming out soon which you can watch tv on. (I'm going to get one!) Samsung are making them.
There is a tv adaptor for compact flash - so you'd have to get the XDA backpack.
got a link about the TV adapter for compact flash? does anyone know if there is an SD version of this on the horson?

For me all I care about right now is:
Trillian for Android

Skype usable on Wifi and 3G on any network.
Some more games.

NS Train time table thats stored on the device instead of the net.(Roaming 3G is a tad too expensive for me =P)
STEAM Community (Too bad this will probably never happen)
And finally something thats not really an app, Hotmail Live ActiveSync.
Tilt to live

Would be nice if one big company would come out with an Android app before an Iphone app.....Android so much better than apple...oh well Android still in its infancy.....
Is it too much to ask for a proper port for angry birds on the Android? Doodle Jump's port was hilariously bad.
I guess Skype / WhatsApp is pretty good. helps me and my girlfriend saves some money.
but basically anything that needs to be paid on the market, i wants it. not supported in my country for purchases yet ):
Well, I got the WhatsApp Beta. So I can kinda like cross that off. Too bad I only got like 6 friends that use it

Facetime on an Andriod Phone

Is there anyway to directly connect to my daughters Ipod touch via her Facetime app using my Andriod Phone? She is only 8 and two of her friends have Ipods now and they are already linked up via Facetime (in under a DAY!!!). I would like for her to be able to contact me via it but I use a Samsung Galaxy S under Andriod and I cannot see any apps that directly connect via Facetime.
I can see there are alternatives like Frang etc, but I would rather my daughter had one app for contacts to keep it simple and easy for her to use.
Can someone tell me if this is possible please.
Thanks
Max
Facetime is a application from Apple, if a software company wanted to they could by License to allow the service to work. But from my understanding there has yet to happen for the android platform.
Double post >.<
Why launch Facetime for android if they can convert android users to the iPhone?
They'll never license it to third parties.
Okay, worth an ask as I had no idea about this.
I certainly won't get an Apple product as I think they all suck, my daughter only got an IPod cause she banged on about it and she is not getting a phone yet (so she will not get something decent running Android).
I was hoping there was a way in the same way that Trillian allowed connections between MSN/AOL/Yahoo etc on the PC. But obviously not. I may have to resort to another app for her Ipod then to connect to me and her mum in case she needs too. Annoying but hey ho.
Thanks all the same
Max
Tango has updated to support the new ipod touch. So you can video chat between ipod touch and android device using tango, just not facetime.

Fring is another application that allows aol, msn, yahoo and video chat between android and apple os
You can't with face time. However, you can install Fring on your phone AND on their iPods

Words with Friends - Scrabble

Hi,
Just wanted to let you all know about this app that I found..
It's basically Scrabble.. it's called "Words with Friends"..
You can play "locally" - with someone in the same room..
Or you can play over the air, by registering an account with your email address, and getting your friends to do the same, you can play against them, wherever they are, at your own pace..
it's mutli-platform too (I've been playing against my Sister - who has an iPhone 4, and my daughter - who has an iPod.. and my Wife - who has a HTC Legend)
It's really slick and works a treat.. only problem is that it's so damned addictive, that you end up with your screen on loads and that kills the battery!
I currently have the free edition, but think I might invest in the full version cos the ads are a bit irritating.
Try wordfeud, I personally found that to have a better UI (Its only for android afaik)
What exactly do u mean locally??
via BT or wifi....or online?
i think hes prob on about locally as in just passin the phone about to mates when its ther turn?
Love it and its multiplatform so more people

New Android Emulator for Windows 7/8 and Linux/Mac soon

Hey,
did anyone heared about the new Android Emulator? It's called "Andy" and this the website www.andyroid.net/.
Let know what your tought about this is. Is this to much or does we still have enough Emulators?
This got some new cool features. Check them out!
Greats Hasel!
I downloaded it today in hopes that I would be able to play Battlefield Commander on my desktop. :fingers-crossed: Unfortunately, it says "my device does not support". I'm so bummed because that was 90% of why I wanted it on my desktop :crying:
If anyone has any way to make this possible on desktop and a link to some pretty easy instructions I'd be one happy camper. :victory: Uhm er I really don't "camp" on BF4!
Goofy
Found this today and was looking for a review somewhere. I only found one review from someplace I have never heard of. I would love to try this out, but I dont want to sign into my google account without knowing if this site is legit.
I tried it on my laptop with an AMD A8 processor and 4 Gb of RAM and it runs painfully slow. I contacted the developers but still haven't heard anything after 4 days.

its slow but, legit

Edit: and ya check the priority, at what its running this might be helpful
