Here are the screenshots from the Play Store. Holy crap, we could all be fragmented and need this app ASAP. Right?

Wrong..! Android uses flash memory, and flash memory does not benefit from defragmentation because fragmentation does not slow it down in the first place. In fact just the opposite - defragmentation only makes things worse by decreasing flash memory's lifetime. Don't take my word for it - Google it.
This app and any other defrag app you'll ever see for Android are going to be some sorts of scam in one way or another. In this case, Android Defrag asked for permissions to read browser history and bookmarks as well as network communication. Who knows what it was going to do with this information and where this farmed data would end up?
I don't, and neither will you because:
it looked suspicious
as suspected, defragmentation was indeed pointless on Android devices
even if it weren't pointless, it would not be possible for an app to do so anyway
Oh, and those 5-star ratings - oh so fake:
You picked the wrong promotional technique, Enlightened Software House. And in doing so, will hopefully serve as a warning to those looking for information on Android defragmentation apps in the future. And for that I thank you.
Thanks for the heads up. I've used an app like this before, I won't be making that mistake again. Thank you!

Yes, this is a good point.
Any solid state memory does not benefit from defragging. In fact it shortens the life since flash memory only has a limited number of rewrite cycles so moving data around just uses up rewrite cycles. Mechanical HDDs are the only thing that benefits from defragging.
Thanks for the warning man, appreciate it!

Its better to report such apps.. so that people who don't know much about it are not affected by such apps..!
sorry if it is considered necroposting (since it is less than half a month from last post).
It is really disturbing to still see apps like Android Defrag Pro still up on the Play Store being sold at 12.72 SGD.
I am very very disappointed at Google leaving things like that up despite reporting it.. This isn't exactly new news as several sites have called it out as a scam.
verified defrag apps are fake

Doesnt matter if run a 100 times because the app isnt defraging anything. Here is my story.
I had a look at this scam. I download a bunch of apps just to see whats up.
I downloaded these apps:
- Quick Defrag HD FREE https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.enlight.quickdefrag
- Total Memory Optimizer HD FREE https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.enlightenedapps.totalmemoryoptimizer
- Android Defrag FREE https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.enlightenedapps.defragandroid
- Defrag+ FREE https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.defragapps.totaldefrag
- Totalt Defrag HD FREE https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.defragapps.totaldefrag
After that I copied the apk's to my PC, and simply decompiled them with dex2jar+JD-GUI+APK Manager (for smali-code and resources).
I just say WOW. These apps are built on almost exactly the same source template. Its probably an Eclipse library project.
Nothing wrong with that, BUT WHY USE 4 DIFFERENT DEVELOPER NAMES??? Very obvious after you have read the rest.
Names used: A-Apps, Fujistu, Mirocsoft, ADVANCED APPS.
Some facts I found when looking into the decompiles:
* The sources had 7-8 different ad network sdk's.baked into the apk (airpush, adcenix, adfonic, adwhirl, google.ads, inmobi, millenialmedia, mobfox).
Three of the apps installs a background service with some wallpaper stuff. that requires
the permission "android.permission.BIND_WALLPAPER". Very odd permission for a defrag app, uh.
Also a background service for the airpush ads is installed by all five apps.
This will do the opposite to your system.than the apps claims to do.
* The defragment in Totalt Defrag HD FREE, Quick Defrag & Android Defrag
consist of the following piece of code (exactly the same code in all three apps):
Code:
import android.widget.TextView;
class MainActivity$PostTask$6
implements Runnable
{
MainActivity$PostTask$6(MainActivity.PostTask paramPostTask)
{
}
public void run()
{
if (MainActivity.access$5(MainActivity.PostTask.access$4(this.this$1)) != null)
MainActivity.access$5(MainActivity.PostTask.access$4(this.this$1)).setText("Defragmenting SD Card: " + this.this$1.currentStatus + "%");
}
}
* All the apps do just about the same thing.
For example: ALL five apps contains exactly this function which deletes files that contains
certain keywords like desktop.ini, thumbs.db, cache, temp etc.
Code:
public void deleteUnwantedFiles(String paramString)
{
try
{
File[] arrayOfFile = Process(new File(paramString));
if (arrayOfFile != null)
for (int j = 0; j < arrayOfFile.length; j++)
if ((arrayOfFile[j] != null) && (arrayOfFile[j].getAbsolutePath() != null) && ((arrayOfFile[j].getAbsolutePath().contains("temp")) || (arrayOfFile[j].getAbsolutePath().contains("tmp")) || (arrayOfFile[j].getAbsolutePath().contains("temporary")) || (arrayOfFile[j].getAbsolutePath().contains("thumbs.db")) || (arrayOfFile[j].getAbsolutePath().contains("desktop.ini")) || (arrayOfFile[j].getAbsolutePath().contains("cache")) || (arrayOfFile[j].getAbsolutePath().contains("/cache"))))
{
String str = arrayOfFile[j].getAbsolutePath();
if (arrayOfFile[j].delete())
{
this.deletedFiles.add(str);
Log.e("Deleted : ", str);
}
}
}
catch (Exception localException)
{
localException.printStackTrace();
}
}
But I can say for certain: There is no defragging in any of these apps.
Its just a mockup with a randomizer.
I could tell you more, but I think that will do for now.
These apps are nothing else than a BIG SCAM that infects your device with a bunch of ads.
Shame on you Enlightened Apps

I agree!
Thanks to all folks that make easier our "Android Dummy" lifes! :laugh::good::good::good:
First time here after wasting some time wandering elsewhere... and your note on the uselessness of defragging SD cards IMMEDIATELY gave me the info I needed! Heh, I used to defrag my drives/disks all the time back in the 1980s/90s, so I just assumed that when I erased about 30% of the pics on my little card that defragging it would help it free up a lot of extra space that would otherwise be lost. Evidently not!

Thank you Dev, my problem blackscreen solved. Great work
Don't use this program, it's a potential scam. The creators go around and spam various Android websites with it. It has access to your personal information too. I wouldn't trust it.
Check this thread: http://www.droidforums.net/forum/dr...ram-optimizer-speed-up-your-smartphone-4.html
If it's so good, why do they have to spam forums with their shill? Hmm...
EDIT - CONFIRMED SPAM / SCAM
Feel free to read my sensible post below, or look into the previous posts by "acke2008" or the OP. This is definitely, 100% spam, and probably a scam. I would highly suggest whatever moderator reads this to do a clean/ban on their accounts.
This doesn't make sense to me, and is setting of a few alarm bells in my head to.
First, Android as an OS manages RAM extremely well. Since applications are launched as individual dalvik vm's, their memory space is protected from one another, which means their memory is protected from this application. How is this application "reclaiming" free memory? Memory is either in use, or not in use (free). If you kill an application directly, it's memory is automatically unallocated (freed), which is the point of task-killers (no need to discuss their actual efficacy yet again).
I'd also like to point out what I think is a bit ironic that a program claiming to increase free memory and optimizer performance actually takes up memory and resources. At least ATK kills itself when it's done... does this?
I don't know, happy to eat my words if someone wants to take the time and test it out and give us some insight on how it works and what it's doing, but right now I don't see the point, and a pointless app with access to my data concerns me.
It seems like forcing programs to give up memory would slow the phone down in most circumstances. They are just going to have to load all of it back. I would think that RAM usage optimizations need to be dealt with on a program by program basis.
Hello namebradon,
Thanks for your comment. This is David, the developer of Memorybooster and BatteryBooster, you can check more apps for the android at our site www.downloadandroid.info. Most of apps are free. You can choose the one you like, there is no calumniation. We are trying to make our app to meet the needs of our customers in every update. Please feel free to let me know if you have any good suggestion. We are pleased to take into consideration of next new version. Thanks

Hello,
Usually this kind of app allocates all the free memory available to trigger the OS low memory system.
This way the running apps are closed by OS itself according low memory system policies.
There are a lot of articles around the net explaining the android memory system and why Task Killers should not be used to free memory.
You can start with this article:
http://lifehacker.com/5650894/android-task-killers-explained-what-they-do-and-why-you-shouldnt-use-them
I use FMR Memory Cleaner that does the same.
Best.

YAMC uses another method to free up the memory: each app receives a message from the OS to be closed. The way the running apps are closed is safe and it preserves the system's performance.
Just bought the app to support further development, looks promising!
I'll also be trying this one out to see if it might improve my phones speed and feel...
It sounds like a good idea and after reading about the android way of using ram I regret buying ATK back in the day...
Thx!
I guess I bought the app instead of just trying it... Seems very promising... Thank you!

Everyting is on the title.... lol.
Let me present you my app Algoid.
First, Algoid is a programming language designed to simplify the self apprentiship of programing. (but not at all, it is a multi-paradigm scripting language : imperative, functional (anonymous function, class first function and recursive), OOP (prototype based, multi-inheritance), Meta Object Protocol and nativelly AOP)
Second, Algoid is an IDE to edit the AL Script code with auto-completion, code snippets, formating, DEBUGGER and STEP by STEP execution mode.
Third, Algoid is a set of online documentation / tutorials directly available on the app, with automatic copy of example and exercises source code.
This is some screen shots of the app:
It is a beta version, but nearly become an 1.0 version (06th of marth, to offer to my son, it is his birthday)
Available here:
play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=fr.cyann.algoid
I hope you will enjoy it !
This is an example to demonstrate the language (functional) capabilities.
Parse a csv file on only one line of code (developpers will love it)
PHP:
set csv;
csv = "data 1.1; data 1.2; data 1.3; data 1.4\n";
csv ..= "data 2.1; data 2.2; data 2.3; data 2.4\n";
csv ..= "data 3.1; data 3.2; data 3.3; data 3.4\n";
csv ..= "data 4.1; data 4.2; data 4.3; data 4.4\n";
set values = csv.split ("\n").each (function (item) {
return item.split (";").each(function (item) {
return item.trim();
});
});
values.eachItem(function (item) {
util.log ("parsed data : [" .. item .. "]");
});
And what about Aspect Oiented Programming with Meta Object Protocol :
PHP:
set superO = object () {
set superMeth = function (s) {
util.log ("Execute SUPER method with param : " .. s);
};
};
set o = object (superO) {
set meth = function (s) {
util.log ("Execute method with param : " .. s);
};
};
set logger = function (s, decored) {
util.log ("Before decored execution");
decored(s);
util.log ("After decored execution");
};
set myO = new o;
myO.setAttribute("meth", myO.meth.decorate(logger));
myO.meth("Hi I am algoid !");
util.log ("--------");
set myO.superMeth = myO.superMeth.decorate(logger);
myO.superMeth("Hi I am algoid !");

Hi everyone,
This is the last beta version before release.
I have to speed up, the birthday of by son is in j-8.... I have 2 or 3 little things to tune yet.
Well so new version with parser example.
Play with it, it demonstrate the power of AL isioms like cascade + functionnel.
The language is able to parse CSV (with delimiter or not) in only one line.... great class (when I think the number of time I have done this in my job).
The ; at the end of line become completly optionel. My backtracking parsing expression grammar is really powerfull, it has no problem this that.
v0.4.5 BETA 23-02-2013 Last beta version before release
- new AL features examples (AOP, ducktyping, parsing, lexical closure)
- the end line semicolon is now totally optional
- array keyword is mandatory for the first one in nested arrays
- menu organisation
Well, for next version, I am working on monetizing the app. But I don't know how to do that without changing user experience.
I anyone has an idea.
So, you can find it here....
Have a nice week-end
Little question ???????
I'm thinking about the future of the app. What would you prefer as libraries:
- Gui
- Game
- Mindstorm
- Device capabilities (GPS, Gyro, Camera ect ....)
Please do not hesitate to reply.

I think I have found your problem.
You have downloaded the app at 7:48 (10 minutes after I have published the app on the store) and play store take one hour to really publish the app.
So I think you have tried the 1.0.0 version which have a serious problem of crash at startup with certains devices : GT-S5360 and GT-S5570I
the v1.0.1 version was published to fix this bug. So I think you can try it again with the new version of the app (of course if you are interested)
Have a nice week-end :angel:
Some preliminar benchmarks of AL on MacOS (quad core duo)
- Python is 2.6.1, it is an interpreted language over c++
- JavaScript / Rhino is a java on the fly compiled language (I have put the optimization to maximum)
On Android platform, Javascript should have some worst performances because it cannot generate bycode yet (due to dalvik different nature than JVM)
- AL from Algoid is my pure java interpreted language
As demonstrated, AL has similar performances than python except for object creation. I don't have solution for that yet. Perhaps in a future version.
So I am excited to see what it will done on Algoid with 3d cube

}
All these tests was realized by looping each instruction 1'000'000 times. For object creation only the instruction was executed only 10'000 times.
As until does not exists on Python an equivalent was scripted (while (True) : if (cond) break)
This last month was really hard and tedious. But it was for a good cause. I have completely re-write the AL language implementation to improve drastically performances.
And what is going on beyond my expectations: 10x to 40x faster than previous version. Faster than Javascript / Rhino (about 2x).
Unfortunately slower than Python and Lua on android only. I think Dalvik VM is not as optimized as JVM is because on my MacOS AL have same performances than Python....
Nevermind ! Try to execute the 3d cube or space invader.... These programs seems to have drank too much coffy !!!! lol.
Further, you have been a lot to vote to game developpment framework !
The developpment of a game edition of this app has started.... To be continued....
hehe, I return to my weekly update frequency.....
This is the new v1.1.2 release with
- correct several scope bugs in language
- show AL exception in source code instead of unhandle exception
- algo.curve and algo.curvedPoly
- two another 3d example : 3dAlpha and 3dSpline
I hope you will like it
Find it here :
Well, I just hope it really is "child-friendly" because, though interested, I barely know anything about programming. Trying it now.

I've never experienced any virus since gingerbread...
But installing security applications will increase ram consumption
Do u think an antivirus is necessary for anandroid phone

I think it is very necessary to install anti-virus software, using some of the memory is still very worthwhile in exchange for security.
And WeSecure can help you clean system, lock your Whatsapp / Line / WeChat / Photos and so on... Protect private file.
WeSecure wish everyone have a good day~

Hey guys,
in case you are not happy with the default One UI apps background management, you can check this solution. In a nutshell, there is a Memory Guardian module part of Good Guardians, that allows the user to switch from default to the so called "quick switching mode" that somehow reduces the aggressive background app killing, i.e. app refresh.
Moderator Edit: YouTube link removed due to violation of XDA external links policy.
I have tested this with following apps:
- Spotify
- Mixcloud
- Instagram
- Snapchat
- Tiktok
- Youtube
Some other users tested this with Waze and other apps and it seems that it works.
What is the idea? Well imagine you are browsing through insta and you find a nice post that you d like to check, but then something else pops up and you switch to another app. Then after you are back to your app (in this case insta) One UI would "refresh" the app, meaning that it will reload it, and you will lose your "last state", i.e. imagine refreshing the app or close/opening it.
Download Samsung Good Guardians from the Store ► https://bit.ly/3yGFUms
Download Samsung Good Guardians for a manual install ► https://bit.ly/3yOehYD
It is also supposed to work with some of the heavy games, test it and let me know if you apps refresh is a bit better (i.e. not refreshed so much) or ... no difference at all.
I have tested this on my S22U with 12G of RAM but I guess it should have a better impact for 8 GB and lower RAM configs.
Appreciate the find!
I have 8gb version and apps are staying open much better now

Nice to hear that! Can you let us know which apps did you test? Also - how much of VRAM (Virtual RAM) do you use?
I makes a bit of difference on my 12GB version so I assumed that it would be even better/bigger impact on 8GB and less.
Strangely enough this function is not very popular, was almost not able to find much info around. The whole Good Guardians tools are widely underestimated and they pack a few good tricks.
Thermal Guardian for example can let you adjust the thermal threshold of your phone, so it can potentially tolerate a bit more heat where battery life is exchanged for better peak performance and hopefully also sustained.

So...I just sort of excluded all apps for the most part to test. They stay in ram longer but still hit a point where they refresh. Using 8gb vram but haven't seen ram usage above 6gb or so yet

Can HTRACK be further tweaked, perhaps from dev options? I remember seeing something for background processes, like a limitation factor setting.

Yeah there is but only upto 4 processes I sometimes have many any more apps open at once, anyway I'm trying it now and here are some screens if you wanna attach to op and il delete from this post once you add them

update, i must say this app so far has seemed to keep my HTTrack running great in the background, it ha certainly made a difference, i did have it set "unrestricted" in the app settings/battery setting before and that didnt help, this app now works even with the app power settings set to "optimised"
