I tried and it ID's my phone as unsupported. Is there a browser that lets me change the agent to Desire?

Try "about:debug" in the browser (without the quotes), press Go. No page will load, but you'll get extra settings in the Settings Menu. Change useragent to Android.

Selected the Desire option and worked for me. I'm using evil's sense rom.

Anyone else know why the game needs permission to EDIT/READ your SMS'?
Really seemed dodgy at the installation screen.

Played for a bit last night after a nice discussion with ebay and their great systems, but that is another issue heh...
This game is pretty neat for a free game. The game play is pretty good, controls are similar to the ipod/touch controls on the games there.
Kind of funny tho, gameloft tweeted about the free game and when I initially went to download from gameloft.com on the phone, it cost 4.99. I retweeted to them and they said N1's aren't supported/available. I thanked them for the info and went online via PC and downloaded the desire version and had the link sent to me via text, and viola, game on .

For those of you who got the game from GameLoft. I'd be wary.
The installation permission requires that you allow it to edit/read your sms'.
Wth does a game need to edit or read my sms' for? I've got like 110 apps installed and none of 'em require this permission.

Probably to verify that your phone matches the sms link that they sent you.

Backstab HD on xperia play

Is anyone else having problems with backstab hd. I can install the game and the welcome film clip starts. Then the screen goes black and goes back to my home screen :-/

i know that sorts the Modern Combat fail launch

thnx for the info about modern combat 2
i couldnt get it to work for days
so why can u launch it that way then and not normal?

I purchased Modern Combat 2 and then needed to redownload it.
It was removed from the market so I called Gameloft and they gave me Backstab. I just tried it and it worked for me.
You should also get Spiderman. It is awesome.

The same thing happens to me with BackStab HD.

finally got Backstab, the only problem i have with it is that it makes me watch the startup video each time, like i cant skip it. pressing circle just pauses it and brings me back to homescreen then it continues when i launch the game again.
annoying, putting me off playing it lol.

Instead of skipping I tried watching it and it still closed after the video was done?

To skip it you need to tap on the screen then a little "forward" button comes up. then click that

I have tried everything in this thread and it still closes. I even watched the whole video when it is done it just closes.

I have got into the same issue as you with backstab.
I read somewhere that this problem may be the activation of the game. For the activation mechanism you must have an Internet connection on your mobilephone at the first start of the game.
I first started the game without an internet connection, so i had the same problem as you. The only thing I could do, was to reinstall backstab and to redownload the SD data. Then I started the game with an Internet connection. After the skip or end of the video, I had to wait 10 seconds before the progress bar appears.
This solved that issue for me.

Hmm I see it as well it is in the xperia play app/ game launcher.

I know this is a really old thread, but i didnt want to open a new one just for this.
I bought backstab from gameloft and when i opened it, it came up with a message saying "this game is incompatible with your device. Please request a refund"?
Why am i getting this, is anybody else getting this?
I have a R800i on 2.3.4 in the UK

What version you use? Try older version if you can find or have your device using custom kernel.

Quake 3 for Xperia Play!!

Oops I first put this in general, but it seems more appropriate here:
Quake 3 for Xperia Play
A version of Kwaak3 specifically for Xperia Play phones has been released on the Android Market!!!
This means that we can play games like Quake 3 and Open arena on our devices!
It's called Zeus Arena, it doesn't show up on the launcher atm but you can find it on the android market!

Zeus Arena now shows up on the list of xperia play optmizied games (accessed through the launcher using the little android market button). It hadn't done this for me until yesterday, how about anybody else?

just got it to work on my play. It plays really good and it's smooth and has great graphics! And the touch pads works really good to. My new favorite fps game on play.
now, apparently, Quake 3 isn't the only game that works with Zeus Arena, does someone knows which game does?

It may work with other games based on the quake 3 engine.

Please...try to find some mods that work with zeus arena. I don't want to play a multiplayer competitive FPS on my phone....a single player experience would be perfect on this engine!

I have done this, but it doesn't seem to work, I put the correct files on the sd card, and downloaded and installed the app from the market, but yet, when i click run the game it just flicks back to the menu, same with when i click run benchmark, nothing happens...

Delete everything and do it all over again. Read that the description really careful again Better luck next time.

ye ye, i got it working, didn't have the first file (pak0) in the right folder...thanks anyways man

I believe you can you manually change or add it in your Q3 cfg file.
Something like:
seta com_hunkMegs "xxx"

try this and it doesn't matter which version you are using
i finally managed to get the game working
this is what i did first of all i uninstalled the cf3d driver after restart i went into manage application than i cleared the data from chainfire3d than i unistalled the chainfire3d after i restarted my phone than i went into market and than i downloaded chainfire3d free version and i instaled the nvidia plug-in and than i went into default opengl settings and than i chose nvidia plug-in and than i ticked reduce texture size(3rd option).
but you might have to tick the first option reduce texture quality and than i closed the software and i launched the game and it worked properly.
reply back if the game dont work for you ill try alternative methods for you all.
beside hitting a thanks button will help me getting known in this community.

heres the plugins list including shader for riptide game just install them
by going into chainfire 3d then look for install plug-ins after 2-3 mintues its gonna bring 4 files which will show Nvidia, Qualcom, Poweramp
well sometings like that and just click on them it will install them and after go into
default opengl settings(if you have free version) otherwise go into per-app opengl and choose the shadow gun game and choose nvidia plugin and tick reduce texture size and close it.
than load the game you are ready to go.

well i guess this is how it is
the only reason i made this thread is because i had very difficulty getting the game run but after trying different method my suggesetd method worked and i thought if anyone having a bad time running this game can check this method and run the game.

It seems likely that ROM choice will also make a difference to how (or if) the game runs properly without having to install additional drivers - so comes as no great surprise to me that it works for some and not for others.

Give me some credit Shery4life, I gave you some help on this subject

Hey man, thanks for all the work u have done. U see the game still does not work after i did all that u said. The game loads until the menu screen. After i click play , the video is shown but after that the game will either hang or the colors are all messed up. Yeah so basically the game hangs and will not let me even exit the app. Please help me if u can.

In my experience, I just downloaded the apk and let the downloader download whatever files it needed took two minutes then the game ran fine. and it has pretty nice quality too. WE dont need Tegra crap to run games like these.
but those who are having problems good luck. Also,
offtopic, i bought games from gameloft using my paypal back in the day from gameloft mobile website, is there a way to redownload them?

They recently updated shadow gun to run with more devices. Installed it yesterday and it is running flawlessly.

Yep, I installed it without Chainfire 3D and it works perfectly.

You guys playing the version from the market .. later on in the game due you see the same graphic crash like in samurai?? Around level 4

have you got the chainfire3d loaded with nvidia plugins and setting set to lower. if you have and the game still dont work than i guess there is something else that is creating the problem best thing to do is download the new version from market and the version is 1.0.3 and its $5 beside

Why do you guys need to play around with chainfire for this game to work? I'm running it smoothly on my sensation, even though I don't even have chainfire or any extra video drivers...

ITS FINALLY HERE!
I written most of it from scratch, most vehicles are very drive-able.
i also added 'ABS' to all vehicles - Anti braking system so they brake alot faster & better.
There is 2 versions available, 'CAR MOD.zip' is the standard version... (I recommend this if you have a powerful device)
But for some people the game 'freezes' when they are wanted by the police, so i created 'CAR MOD V2.zip', it has various bug fixes, police cars are alot slower due to mass cpu usage when being wanted by police, same for FBI Vehicles & Tanks are alot faster.
----------- Installation FOR FASTER VEHICLES & LESS DAMAGE ------------
MAKE SURE GTA 3 IS NOT OPEN
1. Backup your 'handling.cfg' from \SDCARD\Android\data\com.rockstar.gta3\files\GTA3\data.
2. Download 'CAR MOD.zip or CAR MOD V2.zip' & extract the replacement 'handling.cfg'
3. Copy the replacement 'handling.cfg' to \SDCARD\Android\data\com.rockstar.gta3\files\GTA3\data.
4. i suggest using advanced task killer before you start the game.

MAKE SURE GTA 3 IS NOT OPEN

theres a slight bug, when you reach a high speed the car doesnt seem to turn that much.... but im resolving the issue now & testing it :3

Erm.... Go to 8 ball & get a bomb installed & set it off..... Or just tip the car upside down & it automtically blows up..... Or goto the metal scrap place where the machine crushes it..... Or just shoot it with a shotgun 6 times.... Lol

Since there are no chets in GTA 3 on Android, could you create such a mod that you have all wepons and maybe infinity ammo? Or is that not able?

i could do that but thats all into your savedata, but i havent completed the game myself or i would have released a savedata with all missions completed & hidden packages & stunts done with unlimited ammo & weapons =)
So im waiting for someone to donate that file but it doesnt look like anyones completed all the missions

Forget what i just said, i just released something & im onto it ;D

Same as pc remember heh. The main.scm seems to have been altered to support quicksave on android though.

Ive been playing GTA 3 all night/day to finish the game, & find all hidden packages so outside your house(home/crib/save game place) there will be all weapons on stand
