Superuser denying everything - Asus Transformer TF700

I was having trouble with a program getting denied root (even though I hit allow), so I tried clearing the data of superuser. Now I can't accept or deny anything. It doesn't hive me any option. Everything gets denied. How would i go about restoring superuser to a working state?
Sent from my Transformer Infinity!

unlocked or just rooted?
I would try uninstalling su and rooting again or if unlocked flash su with recovery.

Yes do a re-root.

I was just having the same problem, it turns out I had somehow magically lost root. (I had previously restored root after updating to .30)
So I just used Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper and restored root, and it worked fine

ReRoot worked. Thanks guys.

Almost same problem
Hai.
I read this forum already long time cuz its really helpful & normally i never have problems but now i do so i need to post.
And i got almost the same problem as u did so ill describe what i mean.
I rooted my TF700 and everything worked for a small time but now when i updated to Jelly Bean i lost all my permissions.
My superuser denies everything even itself... I tryed to remove superuser and root the device again but then i get

You need to Re root your device. If you unlocked and on JB, follow this method
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1916762
if you still locked and already on JB, you need to downgrade back to .30 reroot then ust OTA root keeper to backup root then upgrade to JB. After you on JB, you restore root back with OTA root keeper.

Almost there ^^

The part of OTA root keeper is quitte easy and im still locked but how do i downgrade.

So i was searching how to do the downgrade but all i found was to use Odin and is that the only way to get back?.
Thanks in advance.

1. First download .30 full package from Asus site. Make sure download the correct one for your country, US, TW, WWW etc..
2. Unzip and rename the new zip file to EP201_768_SDUPDATE.zip, copy this file to root of your micro SD card.
3. Turn off device, boot into recovery mode by hold down volume down and Power button until see white text on screen, now let both go.Your device will flash the .30 zip file.
4. Re root your device.

Well a few suggestions when asking about firmware.
Always point out your location.
Try to quote who you are responding to with the reply button under the post that attempted to answer.
This will quote that person in your response.
Be a bit more detailed when you ask questions to help the people trying to answer to point you in the best direction.
Generic questions generate less detailed answers.

Oke lets give it another try.
This is what i got.
Asus transformer infinity
Build Number : JR003CWW_Epad-10.4.4.20-20121026
Bought it in the netherlands.
Sd Card for the transformer to put the update on.
Now the problem.
I rooted my TF700 before and updated it so now i got it unrooted again on jelly bean.
Now i want to go back to stock because i wanna root it again & because i cant watch any movies online anymore because i guess i deleted some files.
What i tried.
I downloaded [Eee Pad Transformer Pad Infinity TF700T Firmware: V9.4.5.30 Only for WW SKU (Android 4.0.3) - 2012.09.21 update]
When i got it i put it on my SD card (on the root) and changed the name to EP201_768_SDUPDATE.zip and yes i made sure that it didnt say zip.zip then i did the recovery thing with power and volume down but all it does it startup in Coolboot.
So what i wnna know is what i need to do now?
Do i have the right version or is there something else wrong why it doesnt start recovering from the update.
Hope this is better i was kinda in a hurry so sorry for that.
Kind regards,
Infinity.

Have you unzipped the original firmware file to the root of your internal SD memory.
It is important to unzip the contents of the download to SD.
Renaming the original won't do anything.

What needs to be done is: Unzip the downloaded firmware to a location (desktop for example) on your PC.
You will see another zip that was extracted to the place of your choosing.
Rename the extracted zip to EP201_768_SDUPDATE.zip Don't just rename the Launcher zip
Extract or move the renamed file to your tablets SD card root.
You will see an update available most likely right away without a restart.
Accept and update the downgrade.

[Q] Can't update after unroot (TF101)

Hi, not sure where to go with this, have tried having a look around but not found anything. I un-rooted using this guide here :
http://theunlockr.com/2011/11/28/how-to-unroot-and-remove-cwm-recovery-on-asus-transformer/
Everything seemed to go okay, but when updating it says there are no updates. At the moment I am stuck on v 3.0.1 it seems.
Anyone got any ideas please?
Edit - forgot to mention I am a UK user, so I used the WW file on the site.
Do you still have a custom recovery? That will prevent OTAs from coming, make sure EVERYTHING is stock, no su or recovery or anything weird. If not try manually placing the ASUS update.zip
or NvFlashing/rooting putting recovery on and reinstalling latest total stock ICS.
Thanks for your reply - forgive me, I literally rooted when I had the device and haven't got a clue how to check if or what custom recovery is. Is Super User just an icon in the apps folder and if that's gone then I no longer have it installed?
Well, I don't have anything on the SD card anymore - I wiped all the data that was on that I managed to get into that menu thing (holding down power button + vol down, then vol up) but it's just the android robot with a warning triangle. I assume this is because there is nothing on the SD card?
That means you have stock recovery and no CWM.
So I need to look into this NvFlash thing then? It's a B50 device.
Yes that'd probably be your best bet if you have a B50

What it does is restore your TF to complete stock, here's the link for latest ICS firmware with total stock using NvFlash, you'll be able to take OTA updates too. All files needed are included, say thanks to Korumera!

Okay that was easy enough but still won't let me update anything (unless I'm on the lastest updates?) I seem to have a lot of Chinese apps on here now and am unable to add a google account on the tablet, will only let me add an Asus Sync account (which I've never used). Notifications seem to be in Chinese also but I have set languages etc to English (UK).
that's... really weird. You might just want to try flashing a US blob. idk why it wont let you update either.
I was being a total noob, I used the wrong firmware. I'm now on ICS, still not doing updates for some reason though but - thanks for all your help.
That's because that's the current latest firmware It should pop up when there's an update.

New Infinity on ICS but says no update available.

I've searched but every thread dealing with this concerns a tablet whose update failed or rooted or something. I just bought my gf a brand new Champaign tf700, it came with ics obviously, and it says no update found when I go into settings and search for update. Tried a factory reset and cold boot... no luck finding a JB update.
How do I get this thing to update? Any easy solutions?

Steps of Update:
1. Check SW version of your Eee Pad Transformer Infinity TF700T*
2. Download Eee Pad Transformer Infinity TF700T Firmware: V10.4.4.16 Only for US SKU and Update version of SOP (From “Manual” Item)
※Firmware update cannot do *SKU conversion* and downgrade version.
Wrong SKU may cause update failure, You can only update your SW version on the Same SKU
*How to check SW version of your Eee Pad Transformer Infinity TF700T?
Path: [Settings]-->[About tablet]-->Build number
Example: You should be able to see the build number WW_epad-10.X.X.X_2012xxxx, where “WW” means SKU.
**Basically download the US update (Guessing since your profile says Detroit you have US version), and store the update onto your micro SD card. Then plug the micro SD into the tab and it should prompt to update. Good luck.**
Are you rooted? Do you plan to unlock? What version are you on? (.26, .30) If you are on .26, check out the thread on NVFlash in development. After you upgrade, you cannot use NVFlash. If you need to upgrade, and don't want to unlock, you should be able to go to asus direct and download the update. Check out this thread on NVFlash : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1901479.
Try this one for update: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1803090, note, it does require root.
I just returned a prime today that I bought for a friend in exchange for a C8 infinity. Tablet didnt want to update to JB and was stuck on 4.0.3. So I used my laptop and went to the Asus support download site, download 4.1.1 US version, unzipped it and another zipped file came up, Plugged the infinity to the laptop via Asus cable, copied the second zipped file into the main directory I think it was /mnt/sdcard, Rebooted and the exclamation sign came up and installed the new 4.1.1. Then went back and deleted the file that I copied on to the main directory. Dont need an sdcard to manually update.
I just received my tf700 on Tuesday (from NewEgg) . I got two OTAs updates that afternoon - neither was JB. Finally JB came through last night. So you might have to wait a day or two. ...

1. When still on .26, install Nvflash. Look it up on the forum for the steps. It's not that hard.
2. You might be one of the people having an Infinity that apprarently is not showing up in ASUS' serial number database. This will preclude you from a) receiving an OTA (Over-The-Air) update like the one you're hunting for, and b) will prevent you from being able to unlock the device, so no custom recoveries (and therefore no backups) and no custom ROM'ing. For a lot of us, that was enough to seek (warranty) replacement.
3. If you decide to keep this 700, the procedures given for manually updating a firmware work. However, I'd sincerely recommend you reading through their main threads to really get a good feel for what to do and, more importantly, what NOT to do. There are quite few ways of updating a 700 by hand, depending on what works and your skill level.
Thanks for posting this question. I was having the same issue and now i found my answer WIN!

Yet another "help me I think I bricked myself" thread

Hi all,
I literally just read through about 15-20 different threads using the search term "bootloop" but almost everyone was on OTA JB, and that doesn't describe my current situation, so here goes:
Got a replacement tablet last week. Used stock for a while, then decided to unlock/root it like I've done in the past (Had a TF300T previously and wrote myself a detailed guide so I consider myself intimately familiar with the process).
Just to clarify, I AM STILL ON ANDROID ICS. I DID NOT TAKE THE JB UPDATE NOR FLASH ANY JB ROM OR RECOVERY.
I unlocked, used NVFlash to make some files, and flashed over the 5.5.0.4 CWM recovery, just dandy. I then make a nandroid backup of my current tablet status (unlocked, not rooted, stock ICS) and copied that over to my desktop. I copied over a nandroid backup from my old tablet (ICS blackbean #5 I think, rooted, unlocked) and attempted to restore that recovery via CWM. The recovery restored fine, but I was stuck in a perpetual "bootloop" i guess, with the BAKED team logo showing nonstop until my tablet died.
Came back home with this tablet (had gone to my brothers house right after restoring so didn't have any of my tools) and tried to fix what I thought was an easy fix (I've done it before, just can't remember how). I wiped everything, did a factory wipe/reset through CWM, formatted my partitions, cleared my caches, just about everything I could think of. Nothing has worked. I've tried flashing the stock ROM but I get an error similar to "remote <invalid size>" about 1/3rd of the way through sending it, so I'm not sure. If I can just get stock anything installed at this point I will be ecstatic.
I do want to iterate that I feel strong that my device is NOT hardbricked. I have FULL ACCESS to CWM, ADB, Fastboot, and APX. I know it's just something small and stupid that I am forgetting.
Can anyone please help me get my tablet back up and running? My laptops' screen died and is currently out of commission so I -need- something to take notes on in class in the meantime, and have no other access to another laptop.
Relevant details:
TF300T 32GB - came with STOCK ICS and did NOT TAKE THE OTA JB UPDATE
Previous setup before my "brick" : Stock ICS, Unlocked, NOT ROOTED. I attempted to restore a nandroid backup from my previous tablet (also a TF300T 32GB with STOCK ICS)
Steps I tried to do: Format partitions, caches, wipe data/factory reset, tried to flash stock firmware, tried to flash CM 9.1 and CM10, no luck.
Current setup: I have full access to ADB, Fastboot, APX, have backup NVFlash files (which I don't know how to use to restore my tablet), and it currently has a CWM 6.0.1.4 TOUCH recovery on it (which is bloody awesome).
Tablet is currently completely dead (red battery logo) and charging atm.
Any expedient help will be truly appreciated and greeted with many thanks!!

I didn't want to take JB because it re-locks the bootloader and doesn't have adobe flash, which I think is an injustice.
I am wiling to take the JB update if I can find a guide on how to restore ICS bootloader using my NVFlash files.
I'm on the IRC channel until at least 7PM EST in the US (while I'm at work) if anyone can provide me some real-time advice.

Good Luck!
tobdaryl: Thanks for the response. I've actually read through that post because that seems to be the only guide on how to restore via NVFlash.
NVFlash aside, does anyone know what is causing the issue that I'm having right now? My tablet is useless and I'd rather not try to go to best buy and exchange it since my local store doesn't have any in stock and the store i got it from was almost 2 hours away :X
I will try to flash over some sort of stock firmware and hope that works. maybe i just need to re-download it, i don't know. if that doesn't work i will flash over the JB firmware after i get some more instruction on how to restore wtih nvflash.

I think you restored a JB rom(baked) to a unit that still had an ICS bootloader.
recovery - your recovery (JB or ICS) must be changed to match the bootloader of the rom
I suggest twrp on this unit - many problems with cwm
Perhaps my understanding is incorrect but the Baked rom I was using was made for ICS, and I've never had any issues on it previously. I have no objections to using TWRP but I am also not familiar with it so until I get back up and running, I'd like to stick with CWM.
I am waiting for a response back from Rayman in regards to a guide on how to restore via NVFlash so that I can comfortably go to the JB bootloader/rom and still change back if I deem it necessary.
You're correct (assuming it *was* BB5): BB5 was based on ICS bootloader.
Have you tried one of the "return to stock" posts: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1757077. Be sure to do a full wipe before.
If you need a stock ASUS ICS ROM, here's a US one. (don't use on WW SKU)
Good luck.

One quick note: NVFlash is good to have, don't get me wrong. But it's really more for if you lose the bootloader altogether. The ASUS JB bootloader has plenty of great ROMs compatible with it at this time so you shouldn't worry about having to go back.

That is incorrect.
There is no way to 're-lock' the bootloader. Upgrading to an ASUS JB rom will upgrade your bootloader and replace your recovery, but the bootloader remains unlocked.
JB itself is where *support* for Flash ended; this has nothing to do with the bootloader. BB5, a JB ROM, does not *support* flash. This doesn't mean it won't work, just that it's not longer made available through the Play store. You can always side-load it.

Good luck in whatever path you take!
Search on xda is still down. Manual search I have only found one cwm 6.0.1.4. I hope you have found another that was for ICS. You may wish to read the op for that thread if it is the source of your cwm 6.0.1.4.
tobdaryl: In that same thread, if you go to post #71 on page 8 you will see the OP (the actual dev) responded to my request for an ICS CWM Touch recovery in that post (link here). So I am assuming it is a working ICS CWM recovery, but even before I flashed it I was still using the old 5.5.0.4 CWM recovery. I was forced to flash 6.0.1.4 in order to have support for external SD to try and flash something that works.
Bsaman: Yes, I've tried return to stock. When I send the file, it gives me an error on the command prompt similar to "remote <invalid size>", as I've stated in my original post. I can't figure out why I'm getting that error and I've been able to flash stuff before without any issues. This is the first time I've actually messed up and had a nonfunctional tablet for an extended amount of time. Also, thank you for clarifying my inconsistencies regarding JB and adobe flash. If I can side-load it and still have support, then I have no problems going to JB.
My connection here at work (a frickin T1 at a data center!!!) is only 170kb/s download, so I am going to use the firmwares that I've had downloaded for a while. I will flash the latest firmware and hope that it works.

I was forced to flash 6.0.1.4 in order to have support for external SD to try and flash something that works.

That's great your recovery is ICS, I'll bookmark for later use. It is good info to pass along.
Minor update: Attempted to flash the US firmware US_epad-user-10.4.2.13. When I flashed it, I got the following errors:

I get the following error on my tablet: Failed to process command flash: system error (0xa).
I am currently reading a post here and will try to follow the steps and post a follow-up post. I really hope I can get this working!!!!
*EDIT* The steps in that thread did NOT work. Exact same error. What kills me is he described my problem VERBATIM. So I'm downloading the JB update 10.4.2.20 right now and will try to flash that, hopefully it works!!!

Sounds like the file is failing the checksum verification. Since you've tried multiple files, I doubt the problem is with the originating file itself. I wonder if you might have a bad USB port or cable. No easy way to try another cable unless you know someone with a TF tablet, but you can try a different USB port.

I actually have a spare USB cable that I redeemed through my replacement plan and have tried sending files via both cables, no go. My co-worker has a TF200 but that's obviously a whole 'nother beast.
I do want to report that I followed the steps in the thread I linked in my last post and after I flashed the boot.blob I no longer see the Android icon in the fastboot/wipe data menu. So I'm even further away from a working tablet than I was before.
Is there -any- other solution or am I going to have to redeem my plan (and lose $80) again and get a NEW tablet? I -really- need this thing to work for school and for my job as well, so I am open to damn near any possibilities.
If anyone can post a guide regarding how to restore my files via NVFlash, I think that might be my best step. At least I'll know which bootloader I'm on, and then can flash the appropriate files from there.
I'm getting desperate guys, help a brotha out! I do -not- want to have to buy another replacement plan and redeem this one just because I bricked it from my own stupidity....

I gave you a link earlier from rayman himself how to recover from your situation.
If you want jb try the first jb 10.4.2.9 - why this one? Rumor is this is when the partitions were resized; they are different between jb and ics. size error?

There is no post 71 in the thread where rayman tells what to use and how to restore ics. I am not speaking of ics recovery file or partition but how to recover ics with nvflash.
Check post #11 in this thread. If you need blobtools look at post #14.
Could you tell us where work is? I'd like to get service there and slow my life. LOL!

Work for me is at a data center in Virginia. We're not operational so they have us on a ridiculously slow connection :X
Just wanted to give an update: I'm working to try and follow those guides to get stuff restored. It's difficult when there are 6 links to 5 different pages, but i'm working through it.
I failed to mention this before, or perhaps I didn't notice it, but when I go to select recovery mode on tablet with volume down + power key, it instantly goes to the fastboot/wipe data screen. From there, if I wipe data (which only takes like 1 second) it'll reboot into recovery but I have no other way of rebooting into recovery atm. What does this mean? How am I able to fix this?
I was trying to flash back to the my old recovery which is the 5.5.0.4 (ICS) version of ClockworkMod thinking that might help stuff, but this time when I went to choose wipe data and get into the recovery, it said "Key driver not found.. Booting OS" and then went straight into fastboot mode. I really hope I didn't just break things even more and lose fastboot access....
Is anyone else able to post and perhaps provide some insight? A dev maybe? I'm getting desperate at this point for a damn working tablet
**EDIT** Crap, I think I may have just lost access to my recovery from doing that. I can't boot into recovery anymore atm, regardless of which one I flash. Same "key driver not found" error as above.
Maybe you can upload in youtube a movie of your troubelshoot

I FIXED MY TABLET!!!!!!!!
I was able to successfully use NVFlash in order to un-brick my tablet!!! I am going to eat lunch and then write a guide on EXACTLY what I did, because the steps are NOT well-documented to the point that anyone is able to follow them.
Please stay tuned for a detailed, thorough, and step-by-step guide on how to restore your ICS bootloader and unbrick yourself on a TF300T!!!!!
Any luck in creating the noob guide for unbricking your TF300T? I am stuck and deploying soon. I would like to get it up and running before I leave. Thanks!

I read a few stories about this issue because somehow the devices' serials do not match the ASUS's server in order to register your device. I was lucky on the first try with the unlock tool. To answer your second question, 1. go to your setting, 2. click on the About Tablet and find the Build Number. 3. Just click on the Build Number about 7 or 8 times to enable the Developer Option. Good luck

You cannot unlock through ADB. You have to use the Asus Unlock Tool.
Keep trying. Many users needed 5,6,7 or more attempts to get it to work. And yes, there could be a problem with your S/N not being registered in their database.
Try to sign up for Asus device tracker. That will tell you if your S/N is registered with them. If not, call Asus about a problem signing up for device Tracker, NOT about your inability to unlock!
They do not support unlocking and won't help you to do so.

Having just been through this, what berndblb said.
After several goes I managed to get the DeviceTracker to work. Some things which may or may not have helped get it to work:
Login to Asus support site and check device is registered (it was). Maybe logging in 'poked' it to update an active flag or something?
Update and go into Google Maps app on the pad, there's a new disclaimer screen that needed to be OKd
Update and go into Google+ app on the pad. Some of Google's location services (e.g. latitude) seem to have been moved to that. No idea if it's relevant for what Asus use but hey.
Logged in to the DeviceTracker using Google. My Asus account login wouldn't work.
The serial number entry just worked, and added TF201 to a dropdown at the top, then located my device.
Then Asus' unlock app on the pad (which was still open after getting the error before) worked straight off and asked for Google password.
HTH, I was about to give up and call Asus support which wasn't going to go well.

I hate Asus support... They swear the "unlock device tool" has nothing to do with the device tracker. I have been on the phone for 1.5 hrs now with them and they say the device tracker has been having issues for a week! Asus NO SUPPORT!
What worked for me....finally
I went through a lot of posts and other forums with users having issues with the tool. I've read it relies on the Device Tracker but couldn't get that to work. After trying everything posted in this forum and doing a reset (no longer rooted) I still couldn't get v7 or v8 to work for my tf700. I contacted ASUS support via email and they replied this morning. They sent me a link to a v7 .apk and it worked with no issues. I was very happy to see them helping me do this even though it would then void the warranty. Here is what they sent me, including full text as to give all credit to them:
"Thank you for contacting ASUS Customer Service.
My name is Emma and it is my pleasure to help you with your problem.
I will do our utmost to assist you in resolving this matter, I apologize for the trouble you seem to be experiencing with the device.
Could you please check whether the unlock tool you downloaded is right first and then accomplish it through the steps I sent to you.
URL omitted due to me being new user. Search for the "Version V7" and File Size should show "613.54 (KBytes) 2012/07/25 update"
Please install this apk and follow the below steps to unlock device
1.Launch “Unlock Device” on your app menu
2.Read and check the description, Press “OK”
3.Check “agree” and press “Press to unlock your device”
If you still can not unlock it, could you please provide the wifi mac address for me?
Have a great day!

Well! Good news! Either they changed their policy towards unlocking or you were lucky to deal wiith a very responsive rep.
I wouldn't be surprised if they leighten up on unlocking now. Lots of Tf700s are at the end of their warranty anyway - no skin off their back anymore....

I am dealing with Emma now. She seems helpful. I used the Asus Device Tracker not working after an RMA tactic and then she asked for my MAC address. Im pretty happy.
This tab is nearly useless unless you ROM it.
Thanks for the post. I will report back if it works.
Emma updated their servers! Last night I was trying to unlock via the app and VOILA! FINALLY after hundreds of attempts my tablet is unlocked! Fun times ahead!

Hi! Thank you, I used the gmail account and the tracker worked !!! But, I still can't unlock my device. I can receive any updates. But the unlock tool still gives me the network erros message. What else can I do ?
Thank you!
please help!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have been reading the transformer forum and was directed here to see if there was any solution. I am having the same problem.
I call ASUS and both customer services reps. would not help me because they said my device is unlocked. My device is not unlocked. The first rep hung up on me and when I called back the second rep told me because the computer is saying my device is unlocked then they cannot help. they want me to send it back to them so that they can charge me (which by the way is alot) to fix the problem instead of changing my status in their computer and registering me with ASUS device tracker.
I tried to register with ASUS device tracker and it tells me the command failed.
Is there any way to get help now because I really want to root or is there a way to root without unlocking the tablet?:fingers-crossed:
mmgetthersjr56:
I saw this info at devicetracker.asus.com. I did the .10 update OTA and never saw anything indicating it didn't take. Later on, not because I saw this info because I hadn't yet, I downloaded .10 from Asus and flashed it from my sdcard. But the other day when I wanted to make sure the device tracker would find me I saw this when I clicked the UPDATE LIST option:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
So now I wonder is this possibly what is keeping me from being able to unlock the damn thing? Would rolling back to .8 and then taking an OTA to .10 clear this data and thus allow me to unlock?
You might want to go back to the device tracker and see if your info on this page is indicating like mine is. It MIGHT be what OUR unlocking problem is but I'm not sure about that.

Contact Asus support by email and send them a picture of your boot screen. If it doesn't say: "This device is unlocked" - it's not unlocked.....
You can root without unlocking by downgrading to 10.6.1.14.8 firmware and rooting it with the Motochopper tool. But you cannot run a custom rom without unlocking it.

I went through the same run-around with Support - they said it was unlocked when it wasn't. I sent them a screenshot capturing my serial number and MAC address at their request, they still said it was unlocked, and then miraculously/luckily the next unlock I tried worked. They would not admit to changing anything on their side. The whole process and their stance on it is absurd. I love the tablet now that I have CROMi-x on it and my Nexus 7 is a great device but dealing with Asus has really soured me on them.
I got a call today from someone at asus that wanted to know about a survey I took after they sent me an RMA for the unlocking problem. They wanted to know why I gave them a bad rating. I told them they were unwilling to fix my issue which really does not need to have the tablet returned to them for repair. I told him what I was trying to do and got the same bs answer about not supporting unlocking of the device. So I said asus can kiss my posterior and will get no more of my money nor any recommendations for products to anyone I do work for or know. Told him asus was more concerned about my bad survey comments than making an impression on a customer by extending a helping hand by going the extra mile.
Since there is nothing you can do or are willing to do goodbye. I hung up the phone.
I will bad mouth Asus every chance I get everywhere I go when the topic arises. I'm not going to wear you people out about it but no one will ever hear me say anything good about Asus ever again. Sorry for whoever may find this unsavory but I really did want to unlock and run a good ROM on my tablet and I am very upset that it cant be done all because of Asus's attitude towards unlocking and bad records.
Merry Christmas to all!

Thank you everyone for your responses.
flhthemi - I had the very same experience and they completely ignored my concerns. I will never buy or recommend ASUS to anyone because it really is the principle of a big corporate company just selling a product and customer service does not count.
sparksd - I called and have yet to have them correct the problem because they believe that my device is unlocked and I am a liar.
berndblb - How do I downgrade and not brick my device. I have tried to do this and it never works and then my device becomes bricked. I have tried multiple ways suggest on this site and other for ASUS TF700T but have had no success. so if you could please point me to the one method that is a sure fire way to this then I would appreciate it. Also I know about the nvflash but I have yet to have it work for me.
Again thank you all for your help. It is really appreciated that there are still people that are so willing to help and give sound advice.

Downgrading should not put you into any jeopardy of bricking! It' s all done with the stock recovery and a method build into the stock rom - what did you try?
Anyway - you download the .8 firmware for your SKU or region (US, WW, JP)
- you unzip that file once, the result being another zip
- you copy that file to the root of your internal storage
- you should get a notification that the downgrade is available. If you don't: reboot
If that does not work try method 2:
- rename the unzipped zip to EP201_768_SDUPDATE.zip (make sure your PC shows file extensions - you don't want to end up with EP201_768_SDUPDATE.zip.zip)
- load that file into the root of a fat32 formatted microSD, insert the card and boot to recovery
- the recovery should recognize the firmware file and flash it automatically
To boot to recovery you boot up holding Power and Volume Down buttons until you feel the tablet vibrate twice and see tiny script appear. You'll also see three icons: RCK, Android, Wipe Data
RCK is flashing. Push the Volume Up button to enter recovery
Once that is done you download the Motochopper tool and follow the instructions to root the tablet.

Ignore everything but the numbered instructions in the grey box. It doesn't say so, but the tool works for the TF700 stock JB rom. Naturally you need the Asus drivers for your device - not Samsung as it says there. If you can connect to your tablet in MTP through USB you should be ok.

Thank you everyone for your responses.

sparksd - I called and have yet to have them correct the problem because they believe that my device is unlocked and I am a liar.
.......
Again thank you all for your help. It is really appreciated that there are still people that are so willing to help and give sound advice.

They didn't come out and call me a liar but they kept telling me mine was unlocked even though it clearly wasn't. Based on the date of when they said mine was supposedly unlocked, it looks like a failed unlock attempt somehow registers as an unlock to them. At any rate, I found their general tone to be the most irritating aspect of this - I felt like they were either calling me a liar or telling me I was too stupid to recognize that my device was unlocked.
I think I am rooted but still no unlock of device

Thank you for these instructions. I did everything correctly and motochopper told me I was rooted but I just need to ask this question. If I am rooted I have access to superuser correct?
Thank you for your time.

Rooting and getting the latest custom ROM for Transformer TF300T?

I just pulled this device out of a closet where it's been stored for the past four years or so. Still boots up to the latest JB 4.2.1. Hardware still looks almost new and seems a waste to just get rid of it. If possible, I'd like to bring it up to the latest Adroid OS that the hardware can handle, and use it in the kitchen to look at cooking videos online (it's bigger and easier to see than my phone, LOL). However the device is still locked, and the Asus Unlock app, according to the Playstore, isn't compatible with my device. (I probably need an older version than what's in the Playstore now). I've rooted Samsung phones before, but never done anything with a tablet. Also it's been a while (last phone I rooted was a Samsung Galaxy S5), so step by step of where I need to go from here would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Hi! You need to download the Unlock App from Asus Support Site.
Go to Asus Support-Product Tablets - Transformers - TF300T - And under Utilities download V8 Unlock App (Use expand all if you don't see it)

I have downloaded the software to my laptop, and will transfer it to the tablet by emailing it to myself, then open the email on the tablet. Thank you so much!
Sophie
After that you'll need an SD to install TWRP and a the custom OS you want to flash (I'm not an expert, just repeating what I've been reading here).
I couldn't get past installing the Unlock App. I always get a "network connection error" and I've been trying to fix that

Oh, I think I read something about that issue, and the people had to call Asus to fix it. I suspect maybe they have taken down the server that responds to that connection by now. That would be a drag if I have to call them. But I'll give this a go and see. Thanks again!

Well, I'm stuck at trying to get the Unlock App to work too. Keep getting the same error message that everybody else was getting. I've tried getting help from Asus and got stuck in their Knowledge Base loop. Couldn't get a hold of any live person, not even a chat. I have a feeling that's how it is during COVID-19 pandemic. I'm going to put this project on hold for now and revisit it again when Asus has more support staff available.
Thanks again for all the help!
TechieSophie, i know how to root Asus Tf300t, you need to use the vroot (chinese) then you need to install Super SU to change the language, that works on me, but still having the problem to unlock the bootloader, im working on that, maybe in a few days i will get it! regards
Same here... No luck unlocking the device. Android has latest updates that were available... Ver 4.2.1
I've tried the following...
Tried UnLock_Device_App_v7 and v8
Tried the above after removing all accounts
Tried the above after System restore
Registered the Tablet with proper serial number on Asus website and tried again
Created a new account and tried again
All I get from the unlock tools is the network error everybody gets (I think it's not supported any more) and someone needs to come up with a new utility or custom decipher utility that considers what the Asus website used to feedback to the utility after you supply the serial number. Not sure if this is unique code for every serial number or not?
Tried connecting with AsusSync and using RootDebugfs... It sees the Tablet, restarts it and stuff, but long story short it cannot push the files over (denied or whatever)
With AsusSync and RootDebugfs I'm not sure if I need or even can root the device which would then give me permission to push files to the root folder?
As of yesterday I emailed Asus support, however, I doubt anybody who has emailed about this topic as of recent will get any kind of clear response like "We cannot and will not give unlock support for this device any more" or "If you registered your device our network tool connection will be fixed shortly".
I've searched for updated videos that have been created in the last year or two but there is only a few and in another language
If anybody has a more resent successful method step by step it would be appreciated...
such as 1) Root and method 2) Unlock bootloader and method 3) etc. etc.
Thanks, I know a lot of people are trying, reading, and awaiting a successful method for devices that had not been previously unlocked and or rooted in order to upgrade.
I Don´t know if you want to keep the original ASUS system. Or try a new one.
I Guess that ASUS stopped developing the system for TF300T, This is why there is nothing above Android 4.
I've been using KatKiss for about 4 years now on my TF300T, and it is great.
The system is based on Android 7.1.
Early this year I changed the Google pack (Wich is pretty heavy) For the MicroG also. the tablet is running smoothly, but there is no Play Store.
On this thread, there is info on installing KatKiss and MicroG (microG is on the latest messages on the thread)

There are NO solutions including the tutorial above that's currently working for people who cannot Unlock Bootloader...

This part is a key note:
The year is 2021. Get the same network error that other people are getting while trying to use v7 or v8 of unlock tool. Tried other unlock tools. Tried Rooting. Tried delete user accounts. After using Kingroot / Kingoroot / and other "root" apps tried method of copying the modified DMClent app to replace the stock one... but will not copy new file even after being able to rename the original in the /root directory, Tried creating new user account, Tried factory reset, retried all the above in different orders. Registered on Asus. Tried again, and again. Researched more and tried their links. Tried unlock for other Asus Transformers that people says worked for their TF300T... NOTHING. Still get the network error and cannot unlock Bootloader to proceed.
Here is my reply from Asus:
So... Unless I'm wrong, I believe that unless somebody has some NEWER (Last 2 or 3 years?) custom unlock tool that simulates whatever Network response the tool(s) wants to unlock the Asus Transformer TF300T or some Brute Force unlock, or something then myself and everybody else that is stuck at the network error (Last 2 or 3 years?) cannot upgrade this device?
Thank you all... Look forward to some new news or even closure. It would be a shame to toss this nice tablet... I just need to get ANY Android version stock or custom higher than 4.2 because a lot of newer apps are requiring it
try with mitmproxy ( windows or linux). i unlocked the device last week. ( see in tf700 forum)
