i have registered on htcdev.com.
i followed the steps to the point where i had to execute the fastboot file to get an identifier token using a cmd command.
for some reason it say "waiting for device"
it has been like that for hours.
tried it about 3 times. I had a problem with rebooting into bootloader using VOLUME DOWN + POWER button so i ised abd and it worked
exact command i typed was "fastboot oem get_identifier_token"
PLEASE HELP ME
I don't remember all details altough my experience is quite fresh (week back) ...
Try disable your antivirus and start htc sync.
Device is no properly detected/installed by windows. You need proper driver. Drivers are part of htcsync so try to install or reinstall latest version of htcsync.
And, although I've only just.noticed it ...
Please don't double-post. There was no need to stick this in both the General and Q&A forums.

From the screenshots I can see that your adb is working from c:\abd folder.
I guess your fastboot binary is there as well.
So you have 2 options:
1) issue the command "fastboot oem get_bla_bla" from c:\adb
2) copy the files from c:\adb to c:\Android (including fastboot) and try again
But IMO is much better to downgrade and S-OFF via revolutionary. Just take the time to do some research across the guides around and go for it

I hope I'm posting this in the proper thread. about a week ago, I had a sensation, revolutionary s-off, root, sim unlock.. then it broke, so they JUST sent me a new one. I had to go through the entire process again. I have root, s/off,but I cannot get a rom to load. It's always giving me some error about cid not matching. I don't know anything about that. I didn't need it before. So I'm unable to flash a new radio or firmware, has anyone ever heard of this? can anyone please help me out? I've been reading and working on this 3 days straight, so now I just give up and beg for help from someone much smarter than myself. any help would be greatly appreciated.
PS I use a regular Tmobile Sensation 4G

Mate if you want to SUPER CID your phone, here is the procedures how to ...
1. Download adb tools here: download for WINDOWS or download for LINUX or from the attachments below
2. On your pc click on your local disk C: Drive (or D: drive for some) (WINDOWS users: Start > My computer > Local Disk (C)
3. Create a new folder called "adb" and extract the files from adb.zip into it. Make sure it doesn't create another folder in the adb folder when extracting
4. open command prompt (or terminal for linux) and type "cd" "followed by the path to your adb folder" (windows users can type "cd C:\adb")
5. Ensure your phone is switched on (regular home screen) and connect it by USB in charging mode (Ensure usb debugging is on settings)
6. enter the command "adb devices". This is to confirm your phone is connected. (It should come back with list of devices attached and your serial number)
7. enter the command "adb reboot-bootloader". (nothing further required device WILL reboot in bootloader)
IF it doesn't you can Manually put the phone in the bootloader/hboot mode
Navigate to fastboot by pressing volume down and pressing power button to select (power off > vol down + power on)
It will take you to the fastboot bootloader screen on your phone
Connect your phone via USB
Your Screen should now read fastboot USB
8. enter the command "fastboot oem writecid 11111111"
9. enter the command "fastboot reboot-bootloader (Wait for it to reboot the bootloader)
10. enter the command "fastboot getvar cid" [it should confirm your CID is 11111111]
11. enter the command "fastboot reboot"
12. You can now flash any ROM you like.

Sure. This happened to me at first. Try connecting your phone to a different USB port? Did you get a taskbar notification that a device had been connected? (Did you here the little dings? ha)
When cmd says waiting for device, it either means that your phone isn't in fastboot (which I assume it is, since you were following the directions), or that the device isn't connected.
Also, did you install the software package HTC sync? It's a fairly large download, but it might be a necessary one to get the required drivers to connect the phone.
Let me know if this helps.
Make sure you've installed the usb drivers required by selecting the check box for USB in the Extras.
Yep I got this error too and just had to install HTC sync from the HTC website to fix it. Easy peasy
Just use this guy's toolkit. Worked on my U.S one S.

HELP
i was unlocking my HTC One XL's bootloader today, using HTCDev. When i reached the last step of unlocking the bootloader (typing in "fastboot oem get_identifier_token" in the command prompt), instead of showing that whole block of text that was supposed to show, it just wrote "< Waiting for device >" and its been like this for the past 15 minutes... please help
Did you make sure your phone was in fastboot USB before typing in the command?
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
That possibly means the device is offline. Make sure your plugged into the back of your PC if possible. Reboot your phone and make sure you have the right drivers by typing "adb devices" in the command prompt. If you need additional support?
Pm me.

Hi guys
Desire S.
Unrooted, no custom recovery, basically everything default.
HBoot 2.00.0002
.
To root, i need the 0.98 version.
Using HTCdev.com, i tried to unlock, but at step 5, where i should type fastboot oem get_identifier_token, the phone doesnt come up at all, and cmd just continues to wait for device.
Before you ask, I HAVE (i hope) followed all steps.
This includes updating drivers manually, using htc sync (latest and older versions), swapping usb port and cable, reunzipping adb and fastboot material from other sources, and reading for a decent number of hours throughout xda and other external forums and guides.
But there is still no success.
Anyone help please? I don't just want fast, "get it working for me" type answers, but actually want to know why it refuses to greet me!
Cheers
BTW, i'm on a windows 8.1 laptop, and have updated the relevant drivers, still to no avail.

your phone must be in FASTBOOT bootloader mode..not in the HOME of your ROM..
if you don't wan to turn off your phone first and pressing volume down + power to go to bootloader..then you can using a adb command on cmd while your phone is still in the HOME of your ROM.. type "adb reboot bootloader" then select "FASTBOOT" now you can type "fastboot oem get_identifier_token"
don't forget to disabled Fast boot mode and enable USB Debuging first from the system settings and just connect your phone to pc as charge mode..
hope this help..
Sorry mate. Tried that before your post though.
However the person for whom I was doing this no longer needs it doing, and plans for a newer device, so I no longer have this device available. Thus, i thanked you, since it was a cue for me to mention that.
Cheers.
