Flashed a ROM for the HTC quad core, ignorantly. Phone now non functional - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

So I managed to unlock bootloader through htcdev.com, managed to root it with OneXRootOneClick and also managed to get Clockwork Mod Recovery.
However, I attempted to flash Android Revolution HD which seems to be for the Quad core solely.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1562603
Needless to say, the installation doesnt complete.
At the moment, I cannot normally boot my phone. Either I open it in bootloader, either it stays stuck on HTC logo with the following message: this build is for development purposes only do not distribute outside htc with out htc write permission failure to comply my lead to legal action.
How can I fix this issue? I wouldn't mind bringing it back to stock. Any help/assistance is appreciated.

Reading from other threads where users have fallen into the trap of installing an international ROM, you've hard bricked your device. Since the /system partitions of the International and Dual-core versions differ. you might have basically screwed up your phone.
Edit: actually, read this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1755156&highlight=hard+bricked

it's quite likely you now have a $500 paperweight.

That HTC screen you get is normal its from unlocking the bl...but as your phone ..you can't get into recovery ? When the white screen comes on hold down power of screen does go black hold down buttons to get into recovery but that probably won't work with your given situation hook it up into computer your going to want to relock your bootloader and run an RUU just search around in the many threads like your situation you'll see the fastboot commands you need to put in

I can get into clockwork recovery. Though im not quite sure what to flash from there

If you still have access to recovery then it could still be OK. Try formatting /system, factory reset, then flash any custom ROMs (for Dual Core, obviously) and see if it boots up. After that you can relock your phone and flash Dual Core RUU, but it's better to get your phone working first.

You could try relocking your bootloader and running an RUU. Hold the volume down key when you power on the phone to try to get to the bootloader. Then, follow the instructions in the thread below.

Tip/warning rom manager recovery for htc one x (gsm)

I am creating this post as a tip and warning to everyone with an at&t htc one x (mostly noobs for help). If you have rom manager on your phone do not use it to flash the new recovery listed for the htc one x (gsm). I've been messing with android since 2009, but me seeing a new recovery for the one x with (gsm) next to it thought hey finally got an official clockwork recovery for our phones!!!!! Well i was wrong. Its for the international versions only not ours. The partition it writes the recovery to is on our bootloader partition, and flashing it will kill your phone. I flashed it, kept it on for hours but as soon as i rebooted the phone it turned off and would not turn on or charge. You'll pretty much be screwed and have to get a new phone unless you know how to run linux and ask for help fixing it which is harder than you think. Again do not flash the htc one x (gsm) recovery in rom manager!!!!!
Hope this helps some of you before hand and not after.
If this post isn't necessary i am sorry and please close it.
Nobody should ever use ROM Manager for anything, EVER.
Sorry for your loss.
Why would you flash a recovery for a different device and expect it to work?
When ROM manger is supported on your device its a great tool, like on the sgs2. If its not officilially supported on your device, don't mess with it.

in fact, it is not really that hard to fix. Just re-lock the phone via fastboot. then run RUU package from AT&T
It should set every thing back to original.
if your phone is not respond RUU, try reboot on RUU via fastboot.
By the way, The only recovery that works now is TWRP
Use this one only

The ruu has to access the boot loader to verify your version. If you end up flashing a device and it writes certain partitions of your boot loader (ICJ).... Well your left with a permabrick, until someone finds a way to JTAG the One X(AT&T). I've heard that its already been done, but the person who has performed it has kept the pinout secret.
I'm not entirely sure which partitions your ROM manager has wrote to, if you can find that out you might be able to fix it... Depending on which ones have been written too.

New to HTC need some help

Hey guys my s3 killed its self yesterday so I grabbed one of these beauties today and I'm really impressed so far(maybe its the custom ROM).
Now I got the phone off a guy, had it he unlocked the bootloader, rooted, and gave me the phone already running 4.1(dirty 1.8).no back ups to even a rooted stock.
Although I love jelly bean this battery is killing me and I would really like to have at least a stock zip I can flash in emergencies.
I am so unfamiliar with HTC(nexus one was the last one I owned)thank I really don't want to brick it.
OK so my questions are these
I have the rogers version of the Onex is there certain builds I need to look for or are they all just HTC one x?
With HTC is there a fallback like with samsung if things go wrong at least there's always download mode and Odin.
Do I need to have my boot loader unlocked?
Thanks in advance
And sorry for the noobness I just can't kill 2 phones in a week

No! It is wise of you to ask this, because there are two versions of the One X, the International (Tegra 3 quad-core) and the US/Rogers/Telstra (dual-core S4). Flashing stuff for the wrong version can permanently brick your phone (i.e., there is no current fix for some of these mistakes).
With HTC is there a fallback like with samsung if things go wrong at least there's always download mode and Odin.

Assuming you haven't flashed the wrong ROM, you can generally always get out of trouble by booting into bootloader, relocking, and running the RUU for your firmware. Most problems can be fixed by going back into recovery and re-flashing or flashing something else.
Note: Figure out what version of hboot you have before doing anything. With 1.09, modding is pretty straightforward. With 1.14, you have to take some extra steps and there are a few things you can't do at all.
Do I need to have my boot loader unlocked?
Click to collapse
Yes. Leave it unlocked unless you need to RUU.
His hboot should be 1.11 which is the same as 1.09 as far as installing roms go.
If you're looking for a Sense ICS rom, I recommend ViperXL or CleanRom5. But there are other roms to try. As long as you stay in this forum and not the international forum you should be safe to flash anything you want.
Awesome thanks guys.
I check my boot loader and it is 1.11..
So that makes me happy cause all in all I'm addicted to flashing
One last question for you before I venture off on my own here..
With my nexus one I and the passimg I could flash through my bootloader in cause something went wrong or I just want to refresh my n1,is there something like that for this phone or are those days long gone?
Again thanks a bundle

Correct, stick to TWRP. There is an app called GooManager that makes installing and updating TWRP close to effortless.
If you haven't already, reboot to recovery and see what you've got installed. Some people insist on using ClockworkMod recovery because they've used it on other phones, but it's not supported for this one and can cause issues with data getting corrupted. If you have CWM installed, all you need to do is download GooManager and select "Install openrecovery script" in settings and it will replace it with TWRP.
Ya I always use twrp have for a while but what I mean is if (can?) I soft brick my phone or something happens that I can't flash from recovery is there a passimg zip like we had for the n1 that could be flash through the boot loader?
You know just in case

[Q] Help?? won't boot

So basically, I was running the stock HTC sense, and decided to root it to install CM10. I unlocked the bootloader via htcdev, and rooted it through a youtube tutorial.
Everything seemed to be going well, until the phone wouldn't boot, and would just power on to the quietly brilliant screen, and off.
I forgot to back up, the RUU exe won't start (it prompts an admin permission message and nothing happens after that), and I couldn't mount my sd in recovery. I can't sideload through CWM, and I relocked my bootloader.
I tried to find a way to just install cm10 through fastboot, but I need a system image, and I can't seem to find one.
I can't seem to find a way out of this.
What carrier version of the phone?
Why do people use youtube to brick their phones then come here after? Why didn't you just come here first?

It's the AT&T version.
And as for why I used a video tutorial, the ones here didn't seem to be working. The root itself worked just fine.
Since posting this thread, I've unlocked my boot loader again, which lets me get into Recovery again.
CWM doesn't mount USB on this phone. Its a known bug. Install TWRP using fastboot, and you should be able to mount USB.
From there, just flash the ROM again. You probably just forgot to extract the boot.img (on your computer) and flash using fastboot.
If you are on hboot 1.14 (rooted while on firmware 2.20), you will probably find this helpful: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1957193

The methods here work fine, and are the original work. Any YouTube guides you find just steal their methods from here, anyway. Its not like the guy who made the video, discovered the methods for rooting and flashing ROMs.
Plus, its very dangerous to Google around or search YouTube for random tutorials. They are often for the quad core version of the One X, and can brick your phone.
Moral of the story, you won't find better guides and help than on here, and probably worse.

Ok dude here's what you are going to do.
1. go into the bootloader.
2. read the hboot number if it is 1.14 or higher then get cleanrom 5.1 from scottsroms.com make sure u get the one for the htc one x and it is in archived builds GET 5.1 only 5.1 otherwise still for any other number follow the link, this is just to help you in future installations.
3. download cleanrom 5.1
4. get into twrp while in fastboot/bootloader by hitting bootloader with power key and volume down to recovery which you will click with the power button.
5. plug phone into computer and tap the big 5 sided rectangle like shape that says mount and in there hit mount usb storage or something like that.
6. drag cleanrom 5.1 to the downloads folder or where ever you keep your roms.
7. x out of the file explorer than hit unmount in the phone. Unplug the phone.
8. hit the back arrow in TWRP and go to the wipe menu. Hit factory reset, wipe cache and dalvik cache. If you want to be safe wipe system.(do this for all future rom installations.)
9. go to the install after getting out of the wipe menu.
10. tap clean rom and install the settings you want (make sure you hit the i never took the 2.20 firmware update/unsure option).
11. reboot system
12. wait up to 10 minutes if it doesn't work ruu use instructions on onexroot.com under unroot and then go to unbrick at&t one x
13. for future rom installations if you have hboot 1.14 or higher extract the boot.img and either booting in the bootloader and going to the fastboot menu and putting in the command fastboot flash boot boot.img or as do what i do which is to use the TN win installer to flash them for me in the bootloader.
IF YOU RUUED THEN YOU WILL NEED TO DO STEP 13 To INSTALL CUSTOM ROMS
Say something if this fails or you don't understand.
sorry there's no links xda doesn't let me post links.

Good then since you're so capable, you know that when it comes to the one xl and stituations like this, it's best to get all the details hboot, SiperCID, S-ON or S-OFF and what the person did when the brick occured. Help
Bootloader says **tampered** and **unlocked**, and I have hboot version 1.14.002. Flashed TWRP. Wiped, so now I don't have my stock OS anymore. Tried to flash Cleanrom 6.5 and selected options, but the install always ends in a second and fails. The reboot screen warns me that I don't have an OS installed and when I do, it tells me that it's a developer build/etc. Help, it's my first time doing this.
Edit: Never mind, used an older version of TWRP, worked.

Help!! flashed wrong recovery

I flashed twrp recovery from HOX interational version by mistake. Now the phone is stuck in bootloop. Tried to boot into bootloader by pressing vol down + power but that didnt work and i also tried to reboot via adb but that also threw me an error . I cant even turn off my phone it just keep rebooting.. Is there anyway i can revert this? Btw my phone is recognized by PC in disk manager though.
My phone is s-off and unlocked.
Any help would be appreciated.
Hold the volume down button while it's rebooting, do not let go, it should hopefully get to the bootloader. The next problem is that you could have borked the recovery partition by flashing the wrong recovery. Try to flash the right recovery, it might work. Otherwise you'll need to run an RUU.
Out of interest, how in the world did you manage to flash a recovery from the Endeavoru?

Be extremely careful to only flash mods from this forum section specific to the EVITA: http://forum.xda-developers.com/one-x-att
You can also use my Index thread (also EVITA specific): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1671237
Especially since you are s-off, you need to be extremely careful about what you flash (and you obviously were not) since all safety checks (such as device check) are disabled with S-off. Different devices have different partitions, and flashing a mod for another device could have easily messed up the hboot partition and bricked the phone.
The fact the phone still turns on is a good sign, and you can probably get it sorted at as timmaaa instructed in the previous response. But consider this a close call and don't make the same mistake again.
Thank you so much timmahy. Just pressing volume down worked and I flashed a RUU after. Google is not your friend, when searching for phone mods. Stick to the proper XDA forum, and always do the proper research to be absolutely certain you are flashing the right thing. There are plenty of devices (not just the HOX) with different carrier versions, variants, etc. that can get you bricked if you flash the wrong version.
