Hi Everyone
I was running the newest version of Insertcoin (2.2.6) it was running just great, last night I installed Superlite v1.3 and once I got it up and running I attempted to disable Mobile Network (as it it the number one killer of the battery for me) and now I cannot get ANY mobile signal whatsoever, not voice and not data....it is almost as if the SIM card I have in does not work any longer. I have tried rebooting, swapping roms (as I am using Boot Manager), reinstalling stock 2.3.4 from TMO, and still NO SIGNAL.....
My only salvation is wifi calling, and I cant be in the office or the house all day..
please help ASAP!
thanks
someone please help, i have used an RUU and downgraded and everything and no matter what I do everything BUT the radio works (i have wifi and such but no signal) and when i go to the extended settings menu, it just shows mobile network off and I cant turn it on....
Well, if you run RUU and it didn't fix it, it is not software related. Radio works as wifi works, unlikely to be hardware failure. I say it's your sim or network. My steps would be, reinsert sim, if it doesn't help, call your network and ask about any failures in your area, if there aren't any, request new sim card (testing different network sim first sounds like a good idea).
its really funky, but i just cant turn on mobile network...when wifi is on the mobile network box is checked, but the second i turn off wifi it fights to turn on the mobile network and never does....
i have tried to update the radio as well now and it still didnt do anything!
Have you tried what i said above?
If you remove the cover when the phone is on, you could damage the hardware.
The probability of this is very, very small, but still has.
Use code *#*#4336#*#* i think restart radio and you are ready.sorry for bad english it is work for me

*#*#4636#*#* type in dialer. Go to phone. Scroll down and turn radio off and back on again and see if that solves your issue

Have you tried ARHD ROM yet ? There's a Super Wipe, use that to wipe off everything and install ARHD 3.0.3. Looks like Superlite messed it since that was the last app installed. But I doubt.
Get another cellphone and slot in yr sim card to see if it works first.
Here is whats happening! I go into an awful area with no cell service and when i return into an area with good service... It shows all my bars, 3G icon, but its all grayed out and will not return with color... Also i have no data connectivity at all. The only way to resolve this problem is a reboot. I have the Nexus s 4G KL1 radio... This has happened twice in 2 days. Can anybody tell me what this could be? I tried the KL2 radio and the same thing happened. So I went back to KL1. I am running Cyanogenmod 7.1 stable. Any help would be appreciated, I like this phone and dont want to have to go back to my slow Evo.
Happens on ICS ROMs. I switched back to GB because of that issue.
OHHH ok that makes sense since i was on an ics rom... That sux i love the ics roms to. Is this an issue they know about and are working on?
Yes I am sure the devs know about this issue. A lot of people already reported this issue on the ROM's threads. I think there was a fix in the CM9 repositories that was merged this week.
well thats good news since were i live its not good service and im in and out of service a lot. Thanks for chiming in and letting me know! I was wondering if i had a bad radio or some thing lol...
This happens to my I9020T as well (with stock ICS, Pixel ROM, and Brainmaster's Stock and MIUI ICS ROMs). So, it's definitely an ICS issue. My network connection won't reconnect after I ride the subway (underground, where there's no signal) for about an hour. The only way to fix it is by doing a reboot (enabling and disabling Airplane mode doesn't fix it).
I just tried switching radios: from KI1 to KF1. I'll update on the result later tonight.
Sounds like exactly what happened to me.
I went back to gingerbread. I haven't had the issue since!
Just out of curiosity have you tried the KL2 radio with CM9/Latest nightly and then toggle your Data Enabled or the data roaming? If that works it might save you the reboot. Settings, wireless & Networks/more, Mobile networks, Data enabled.
You could try toggling the data roaming too.
Yup tried it already

Ok it was worth a shot. When I travel to the UP, I get no data service what so ever. So I feel your pain.

I've tried enabling-disabling Data as well, and it doesn't fix it.
The weird thing is the same issue happened to my girlfriend's T-Mobile G2 with Gingerbread last week, when I unchecked the "Use only 2G network" setting on her phone and forgot to check it back. So, when she told me the issue when she got home, I re-enabled the "Use only 2G network" setting again, and her phone haven't had the reconnect issue ever since.
So, my speculation right now is this reconnect to network failure issue has something to do with the Nexus S' 3G/4G network type setting.
I definitely think you're right
I am having somewhat the same problem.
My phone keeps switching from UMTS:3 to HSDPA and back to UMTS:3
This is draining the hell out of my battery. But when I have it on EDGE 2G I'm getting good battery life.
the issue is not that big for me. I just give it a few moments with it in sleep and when I go to use it again it fixes its self.

Update!!!! I have since switch off of the I c s rom. I have not had the incident happen even 1 time since doing so. I am totally convinced it's on ice cream sandwich roms.

Just an update: Switching radios didn't fix it. Had the same issue after taking the subway yesterday.

I doubt the radio would make a difference. I think the issue lies in the Phone application.
I could be misinformed here, but if i recall correctly, our phones radio is relatively stupid as far as radios go, and the intelligent parts are actually done as a part of the phone application. This only applies to CDMA Variants of the Nexus S, but it could be the reason that the ICS update was pulled (As thats where CM and others get the ICS version of the phone app.).
After taking the subway for about an hour last night, my NS actually reconnected when I got back up to ground level. One thing that I didn't do is listen to music (PowerAmp); I was always listening to music when I had those network reconnect issues.
Anyway, I hope this issue gets fixed in the upcoming official Google ICS update, that should be released in a few weeks*.

I've found that if you just stick it in airplane mode when you are about to go into known no service area and then take it out of ap mode when you know you have a signal you can save from having to reboot to reconnect.
My building at work is a tomb for sprints signal and it works for me every day w/o rebooting ...
To all of you having network reconnect issues -- do you use any battery saving apps, like JuideDefender or GreenPower? I use one, and I'm thinking that its network toggling internal API method has something to do with this issue.
Yesterday, I disabled my GreenPower app right before I took the subway, in which my NS couldn't receive any network signal for about an hour. Then, when I went back up to ground level my NS was able to reconnect to my network successfully.
I'll do the same test later after work and update back tonight.
Hi guys.
I have been using my Atrix 2 from 4-5 months, and this is really an amazing phone.
But I found a thing really irritating.
The Data Connection on the Atrix 2 is very unstable, and it automatically gets lost if the phone is inactive for some time, say 1-20 minutes.
I have set the phone is performance mode, and have no justifications for this behavior.
I am on BSNL 3G in India, using APN BSNLNET.
Motorola Atrix Version: MB865
System: 55.1.27.MB865.AsiaRetail.en.03
Android: 2.3.6
Does anybody else have the same issue, or the solution to this?
internet
I had that problem too I am on at&t 2g edge in the u.s the way I fixed it was I rooted my phone installed clockwork mod n I am now running rebelrom beta 3 with a atrix blaze update on top of that. Ummm if u have no intention of doing any of that then I would say u best bet would be call Motorola or ur service provider n ***** at them
Data connection stops randomly
I have too observed the same problem guys.Whenever there is low network signal it will switch off the data connection on its own but it will not start the data connection when there is sufficient data network available.
Some time I have to switch on it Airplane mode and after few seconds need to off that mode.If it won't work then the only option to start the data connection is restart your device.
Motorola Atrix Version: MB865
System: 55.1.27.MB865.AsiaRetail.en.03
Android: 2.3.6
Please suggest any solution.
Thanks.

Hmm.. its just operator I believe... dunno about bsnl but had that prob with Airtel.. changed to aircel and dnt have any disconnection probs... best option for you is to change to some other operator... try using any of your friends sim before changing... personally I would recommended aircel if you are living in India..

i am updating my phone, lets see if this issue is resolved or not!
Anyways i also think it could be a network provider's problem
Same problem here! Disconnects automatically and then reconnects. And after d recent update, the network completely goes off for couple of seconds! Insane!

Hi!
I'm using an Atrix 2 (MB865) from AT&T, Unlocked, Rooted, Original Stock ROM and i'm having the same data transfer problem with Movistar Argentina.
I think a good option could be to flash a new ROM, but it's hard to see all option we have.
From my point of view, i need an stable ROM with good battery life.
Any suggestions ? Supercharged could be the one ?
I've certainly had a lot of luck with Supercharged. Everything's faster and more stable...battery life is much improved. I installed AnTuTu's CPU Master and Battery Saver, and that's helped battery life quite a bit too, it seems. (I'm a heavy user, but in spurts, not constantly)
My brothers running Sonya v3 on his atrix and loves it. Its much smoother than stock and he seems to get decent battery life out of it. He usually does an 8-10hr day at work and he gets home with still 50% or so battery life.
Same here, running wifi all day. I do plug in if I'm going to use Bluetooth for anything, though.

For what it's worth, I've seen a lot of wifi problems lately. I was wondering if maybe those with issues might be restoring wifi settings with titanium or similar methods. My point is, back when I had a Cliq XT I remember this problem popping up often with various roms (cm7, superOSR, ASOPs) and the common denominator came down to restoring wifi settings often would break wifi. So, for those with issues, make sure you're coming in clean when you flash/restore, don't restore wifi settings.

I had the same issue. Finally ,I went into setting for email and and disabled FETCH at specific times and enabled PUSH DATA .That would not allow the phone to disconnect Data Activity after 20 minutes!

I had the same issue. My phone would disconnect from the internet after about 20 mins of inactivity. Finally,How I fixed it was I went into the settings of the phone (Email Settings to be exact) ,turned off FETCH email(set to manual). Enabled PUSH DATA and with that in the settings,It does not allow the phone to turn its Data Connection off.
i wasn't experiencing this in MAH. but now i'm in bangalore & have this problem
i searched a lot and came at one solution i.e. to keep requirement under control
it means whenever you want to download, switch to 3G else for being online Edge is more than sufficient
it irritates but quite helpful
i use the app "network" from market to switch :good:
I have no signal when using 2g, but no problem when using 3g(hspa+, wcdma). I think this is a software problem because the mainland chinese moto Inc already fixed

same here,i can not connect to 3G mobile data unless i change to airplane mode (after enabling mobile data and change to 3G network) and then to air plane mode to off.
or to restarting mobile after enabling mobile data and change to 3G network.
i tried 4 ICS radio images, but the same issue !!
update:
i tried stock GB rom, same issue, but i tried another provider SIM with no issues, so , this was related to my provider network.
I had same issues, factory reset worked for me.. then i used titanium bkp just to restore my app... not sys data.... now its working fine... someone also told me noy to use power toggle...

Hi,
I have an HTC One XL from AT&T.
It is SIM UNLOCKED and BOOTLOADER UNLOCKED. It is running CleanROM.
The problem is that my phone looses 3G connectivity and the only way to recover it it's rebooting the phone. The 3G still shows but there is no activity and the apps try to connect until they say "network problem".
I don't use it on AT&T as I live overseas. I do not have LTE so my phone is set to "WCDMA preferred"
I tried with other roms (CyanogenMOD 10, MIUI, etc.) and with almost every RADIO (flashing them with TRWP Recovery and wiping cache/dalvik after).
When 3G/HDSPA works, internet works really fast... but then it "disconnects" and everything sucks.
What do you recommend?
Best Regards.
Not a fix, but have you tried turning airplane mode on/off rather than restarting your phone?
I used to get this problem constantly with stock. Once I installed Viper, I haven't had a problem since. Don't know enough about radios to tell you if a new rom flashes a different radio though.
Try going into recovery, and wiping cache and Dalvik. Similar to area51avenger, I've had this same problem on a couple ROMs, and wiping cache and Dalvik fixed it. Might not work for everyone, but it can't hurt.
My friend i aleady tried that without any good result.

do you have the right APN? if you dont have the correct apn for the LTE network then it will drop connection whenever it searches for one. Maybe just run on WCDMA/gsm instead of WCDMA/GSM/LTE. It solved the problem for me on rogers here in Canada on cleanROM
I have the right APN.
Here we dont have LTE so I run the phone in WCDMA/GSM only... no LTE
Problem persist.
Also replace the phone IS NOT AN OPTION

Is there something like fast dormacy?
Please, need help.
I've had the same experience on both rooted and non-rooted HOX's with various ROMs. I have concluded that it has nothing to do with the ROMs and more to do with the HOX itself but only when not on LTE. Before LTE was turned on in metro Detroit I had this problem constantly. I use the Airplane mode trick to resolve the issue in most cases. Now when I'm in an LTE coverage area my data is very reliable but as soon as I'm somewhere that doesn't have it (rural areas or inside with a poor signal) that ugly problem returns. It sucks because it's clearly a widespread issue that may never get resolved and I don't know who to hate at this point.
WTF is this? I had GB and NO ISSUES! Then i flashed V28B, also no issues. But then V30A came out and flashed that too and 15-20 days no problems and suddenly few days ago this s...t started happening for no reason! Why not earlier? Is there a way to fix this or does anyone knows what causes it!?

Will try, but this doesn`t happen all the time. It started 2-3 day ago. Thanx anyway
I had exactly same problem on my Optimus 4X HD, factory reset didnt help. Just turn off 3G network in Settings - wireless and networks - more - mobile networks and check Use only 2G networks. Day 8 and no problems so far.

I always set my setting to 2G mode. Save more battery life since I did not use it after all. Only on WiFi
