Tweaks (like build.prop) - General Questions and Answers

Hey guys. I'm interested in the thing "tweaks". What is it? And where can I find them? I have Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman. I heard that tweaks make phone work faster, save battery, make screen more responsive, but I can't find them anywhere on the XDA Forum... Any links? Explanations? Would be awesome!

*facepalm* tweaks are things which modify your phone. Build prop tweaks change something about its looks, feel, behavior. Google is your friend.

Zephyr Multitasking

Hey guys,
Anyone who has ever used a jail broken idevice must be familiar with the zephyr multitasking tweak that allows you to switch between apps by swiping the screen?
You can also exit any app by swiping up from the bottom which takes you to the home screen.
What I wanna know is that is there any such tweak or utility for android?
I'm wondering the same too! any luck?? that multitasking swipe is the best i found... do let me know if you found anything similar.. thanks!
Nope no such luck.

reawaken!
Has anyone found a solution to this yet? There are a few guesture-based multitasking apps and tweaks now, if only we could get hold of the source for one and impliment that smooth two-finger swipe 'gallery style' animation for switching apps.
Cydia substrate is available for android, maybe someone could get in touch with the zephyr dev

[Q] Motion Controls

Is there a flashable zip file or a rom or even an app that supports the motion controls from the galaxy s 2 or the galaxy s3, on this phone?
It might help others respond if you picked one of the threads you've started about bringing GS 2/3 features to the GSGS4G and posted there.
Yea I thought about doing that but I didn't think anyone would see it

Creating threads just so people will see them will end up getting you ignored.
I guess I overestimated how many ppl care about motion controls :/ but on the plus side I found an app that did the trick! feel free to delete this and the other thread

There's more than one actually. First one is "move'n launch" next is "tasker" (super complicated) and some others in the related of move n launch. All are in the market. They're not perfect but they're the next best thing after having a gs2/3

[Q] Swiftkey Flow

What do you guys think of it?
http://www.swiftkey.net/introducing-swiftkey-flow
Given that I consider SwiftKey the best keyboard out there for the way I use one, I think it would be an awesome topic for the Apps section!
>>> POOF <<<<
That was amazing!
I'm looking forward to trying it out. I did sort of like Swype, but it was just to buggy, its predictions too far off the mark, and no ability to edit the user dictionary made me leave it behind long ago.
Looks neat I signed up for the beta, tried out touchpal the other day, seemed too bloated but this looks somewhat promising. Thanks for the share.

It is explained on their support site here:
http://support.swiftkey.net/forums/...tion-to-use-swiftkey-predictions-everywhere-i
But, basically, there are two flags that android developers can use to let a keyboard know not to supply predictions. One of them is for a field that offers its own autocorrect. SwiftKey 3 behaves the same way. You can't flow anywhere that you don't have predictions. I hope that they change this and I hope that Google/Android changes how these flags work.
Just went ahead and downloaded this. Been wanting a nice swipe app. This works really well so far. Diggin the customization ability of it too.
Sucks battery like no tomorrow, from what I can tell. CM9 here.

Make your ROM feel faster

In a some ROMs (CM10, Paranoid, Beanstalk, and I'm sure there are others) under: System Settings > Developer Options
Change the following from 1x to 0.5x:
Windows Animation Scale
Transition Animation Scale
Animator Duration Scale
This speeds up the animations and makes the phone feel a little faster. You can also turn the animations off or slow them down by increasing the value.
No reboot required for settings to take effect.
Sent from my SGH-I997 using xda app-developers app
I just tried it.
But it looks kinda weird...
Little too fast animation??
I think I should use it for one more day and decide which one I prefer more.
Thanks for info though
Sent from my SGH-I997 using xda app-developers app
Ya. It is a little awkward at first. But after running it all day I'm used to it. And it does make the phone feel just a bit quicker.
There is a similar setting in some launchers to increase animation speed. But these settings change most of the phone animations
Sent from my SGH-I997 using xda app-developers app
I really like the effect. It's better than turning them off completely.
Indeed. After running it for a few days. I am used to it and it definitely makes the phone feel a bit quicker. I enjoy it
Sent from my SGH-I997 using xda app-developers app
Yeah
I'm still running like that from few days ago. I already got used to it.
And it does feel quicker.
I knew about this before but it was just to weird at that time so I set everything top default after few min.

I think it is good post but ...my personall thinking is not to go for it
BUT THNX BUDDYY ....

Thanks, I like it
Wow. After using these settings for a while and then switching back it seems so slow! I really like the extra snappiness.

What its theme engine?

I saw this feature on sons of Android rom and I'm not sure what it does exactly. I would normally just flash and find out but I kind of want to stay with touch wiz right now. I'm just curious what it does, it may help push me over the edge. Thanks for any info.

I've never heard of the rom but it might be the CM theme engine. I think it actually came from t mobile.

So what does it do. Does it allow you to change the theme to your liking. Are there pre determined themes or does it allow you to make it your way.
Sent from my SCH-I605 using xda premium
You download an apk that themes your status bar and such
Only on aosp roms tho
You can find plenty by searching them through Google adding xda at the end.
I always go for those red themes tho but rats just my liking
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
I ran cm on my dx and dinc, if it's like that, you can theme status bar, icons, etc. But I'm not sure if it's the same. Search the market for cm theme to give you an idea.
