Ive recently been getting SoDs occasionally while the phone is in my pocket or sitting on a table. The phone refuses to wake requiring a battery pull. Im on the latest faux kernel and eaglesblood GB.
I want to find out what is causing the SoDs but I have no way to diagnose it. There usually is nothing out of the normal running in the background and battery stats are wiped with the reset. Is there any way I can tell what is causing this?
Are you undervolting? If so increase your minimum cpu usage if not I would just try another kernel. Trinity kernel has no SoD

Using Cyanogenmod based roms? Use latest gingerbread official rom. Never get bsod with it.

Not undervolting and I've been running at 500mhz minimum for months already. Might have to try trinity then even though fauxs kernel gives such good performance

I've been using netarchy kernel for the last few days, but because of the cm update i have to reflash it, and i thouht that i could maybe flash another kernel. I got scores like 2000 with my previous set up, bur i saw people getting 2500 w/o oc. The netarchy kernel i used did have a great batt life, when the screen was off at least. So whats another good kernel? What i want is voodoo, scores like 2500 and underclock when screen is off for good batt life.
Thanks!

I'm now finding that my biggest priority is battery life. My phone absolutely hammers through the battery at an alarming rate these days. I've heard that 2.3.4 roms are harder on the battery and I think it's since these came out that the problem has got worse.
I've tried nearly every rom in the dev section but I never seem to reach any conclusion about which is easiest on the battery. Any of you have an opinion on this.

The kernel is very important. Choose a uv kernel as a trinty one.
NsCollab is a very good Rom for battery saving.

Hello, I would just like to hear some opinions on what your kernel experience has been like. I would like to know about how performance and battery life have been, as well as any glitches or bugs you've seen with either kernel. Also I would like to know what you've clocked your processor to and with what means.
I will be using ARHD 4.1.3 so if you have used your kernel with this rom that will help a lot.
ps: I am aware that with Faux kernels you can use the Daemon Controller app to control your clock speed, but I was wondering what the best means of controlling the clock speed with Bricked is.

System tuner works very happily with Bricked.
faux is better
I like faux because:
1) Has, generally, more features
2) Works well with Daemon Controller--less resources on CPU/workload on batt than SystemTuner
does it help with the power button/screen flash issue?
I use bricked because faux kernals tend to make my phone extremely hot

I would have to say Bricked because I have tried them all and as far as reliability and performance.

Honestly? I think both kernels are excellent. Both devs are amazing at what they do and I've happily used both of their kernels in my wife's and my own Sensations.
My wife's Sensation has Faux 0.2.3r3, while mine has Bricked 1.5.
As for clock speed control, I generally stick with FauxClock to work with Faux's kernel. I use SetCPU and init.d scripts to control Bricked clock speed and voltage respectively. I'm just not a fan of System Tuner.
Both phones are set at 384/1188 wake and 192/432 sleep. I raise the clock on mine when I feel like playing some FPse.
I have used both bricked and faux kernels. Here are my observations: Faux is faster but has bad idle battery life. I actually get better awake battery life using faux. Bricked seems to be slower but I get amazing idle battery life.
I have used bricked 1.4r2 and faux 2.3b4, 2.3b16, 2.3r3, and 2.4b6.
Bricked had never steered me wrong. Been using shows kernels since I started with arhd. Faux kernels seem rushed and always in need of a fix. (just my opinion)
I just oc daemon to control my kernel.
I was using 0.91 for the longest time until I broke down and decided to try 1.4r and it is working beautifully. But try then both out. To each his own.
I think both kernels are great. But I think more developers use Bricked. Currently I use Bricked because it updates more often and I can download test builds.

I used faux kernel before (with ARHD 3.6.5) and bricked kernel right now. Both of them are good. And in my experience, idle battery consumption is slightly better in bricked kernel than faux. But they are not different a lot if you often turn on the lcd to use apps, games or other else.
i tested bricked faux and tiamat on the FpSE playstation emulator and running stock 1.188 mhz only tiamat played gran turismo smoothly using the "lagfree" governor, so i use tiamat now.
and in the benchmark id have to say bricked performed better that faux
In my experience, Bricked has been more stable (I had freezes with various Faux kernels) but assuming both are working 100%, Faux has been slightly faster while Bricked is better on battery life.
Will you guys swear at me a lot of I say that stock is the best so far? 2.3.5 I mean

I've been using bricked. Always works perfectly. Never had any issues.

Faux's thread is gone and there is no faux's kernel for sensation any more.
yep, bummer...not sure why faux left the building!
faux is still there. It's the HTC Stock kernel in the developer section.

This is exactly it. I've used both Faux 0.2.3r3 as well as 0.2.4 release; and Bricked v1.5.
Faux has worse idle battery life but better awake battery life. Bricked has better idle battery life but shorter awake battery life.
I have no experience with undervolting and was wondering what's recommended and if it causes more issues than its worth.
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA
Its in auto mode if you are using EB 4.04. You can undervolt to four different levels. Check it out for your own which one does your phone likes. Just don't checkmark.. Set to boot. If anything goes wrong, just pull the battery and the voltage is back to normal.
I would have told you where to look but i ain't using EB right now thou i had used it and uv it before on that rom.
Just gauging how many of you are still using Trinity kernel considering it hasn't been updated in months, while Faux is continually working on his kernel.
I've noticed freezing/overheating issues with Faux but I like that it's updated often enough.
Edit: By no means am I putting down Trinity kernel, just interested in the numbers

Trinity has been solid for a long time. My phone works much better with it. No need to update for the sake of updating.
Harsh is far better for.both of my g2x

On GB:
I prefer Trinity. It's been stable for some time and I can run my G2x for 35+ hours on moderate use. I've used Faux, but somehow I came back to Trinity.
On ICS:
I used Harsh when I was on ICS. But my experience in ICS generally has not been good (LG/NVidia not releasing drivers). So I came back to GB.
I prefer Faux
Trinity works better on my g2x. I think faux is a bit more aggressive, and my phone just acts better with the more conservative kernel.

Faster, longer battery life, more stable.. my phone does not like faux kernels at all. But I can run trinity elpmax at minus fifty milivolts and have no problems

On stock based 2.3.4 I like the stock kernel or Faux 014b2. On CM7 based I prefer TrinityELP for stability and batt life. I do find since Faux's 050 builds battery seems as good as ELP, and Faux has seemed to make scrolling super smooth. But Faux is still just a bit unstable on my phone. I am currently using the djvoleur adaptation of Harsh for CM7 roms. Its good too. I've had no probs with flashing between any of these kernels other than LED touch keys cannot be set to off when using Faux or Harsh.
I am a fan of all 3 - really...
Trinity ELP for GB
I tried everything out there and always go back to that. Fast, smooth, and good battery life. Plus it seems to be the only one that my phone's bluetooth can stay connected to my car's stereo. with other kernel (maybe coincidence), the two refuse to connect after a few connect/disconnect cycles.
also, many people say 24+ hr of moderate use. Is that with stock battery?
to me, moderate use = 3-4hr screen on time. 1hr phone call. wifi, BT, 4G, GPS always left on. 50% screen brightness. I typically get 12-18hr with trinity.
Heavy would be 5+hr screen on and more
Trinity gives me sleep of death, faux overheats and freezes I'm using the kernel that came with cm7 without any problems. Though I did get the SOD before I installed the build.prop tweaks

I've always been a big fan of morfic's Trinity ELP kernel (dated Feb. 6th, 2012). Unfortunately I don't see this kernel linked on his old site (just the ones dated in 2011).
faux all the way!!!!
