[Q] SlimBean Activating on Every Reboot - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

I'm running SlimBean 2.5. Every time I reboot or power off/on the phone, I get the message
"Activating...
Activation can take a few minutes"
If I press the Home button, the screen goes away and I get the normal home screen. Everything works fine at this point...so I'm not sure what it's doing "activating".
It's not a big deal, but it's an annoyance.
Any way to fix?

I had the same problem and I gave up SlimBean. If you check your phone status you'll see that you lost your no. and the MIN. No big deal though. Is it not only SlimBean but any AOSP/CM10/AOKP ROMs in certain conditions.
Are you by any chance in roaming?

Thanks for the info. Do you know if there are any Jelly Bean ROMS for the Verizon Galaxy S3 that don't have this problem?
I'm not roaming...just normal reception in NYC. Are there any adverse side effects to this that you know of? Or is there any way to fix?
Thanks in advance for your assistance.
P.S. If you gave up SlimBean, what are you using now?

I'm having this issue with SlimBean 2.5 as well as AOKP JB4. I am in a major city with 4G coverage and I rarely see less than 4 bars at work (where I'm currently flashing).
Any ideas anyone?

Issues like this are why I won't be trying any AOPS rom's. The risk is too high and I don't want to spend time fixing IMEI. Never had any problems like this flashing rom's on my Evo.

I'm not sure if this is what fixed my issue or not. I simply formatted /system before flashing and have yet to see the activation screen. Though I haven't been using the phone quite as much as prior flashes, it has gone FAR longer without seeing the activation screen...just over an hour.
FYI: I installed AOKP JB4 this time. I'll be flashing the latest SlimBean ROM shortly and updating the post afterward.

OK, I installed SB and...unfortunately, I got the Activating popup.
So, I was thinking (I like to think). The first time I installed JB I clicked Start right away and it asked me for WiFi info during initial setup. I found out that it was doing that because it didn't have a data connection at the time I clicked "Start". So, I now wait for the radio to connect to the tower (i.e., the meter turns blue and shows 4g) before clicking start. This fixed that snag, so I thought...what if that activation app also needs the same connection to work, but it's not written well enough to handle this situation? I.e., it stores some flag that tells it failed the last time through and doesn't reset.
This is what I normally do:
cwm: factory reset, wipe /system, wipe dalvik cache, install sb & addons.
os: initial setup, change DPI to 320
<reboot 1>
os: use titanium backup to restore ID
<reboot 2>
os: use titanium to restore apps, etc
So this time, after reboot 1, instead of eagerly jumping in and setting up the phone, I did not unlock the phone until the data connection was made.
And...no more activation popup. I rebooted a few times and it's been going for 15+ minutes. I'll update if I see the activation popup again.
I know it sounds crazy...but see if it works for you and let us know!
---------- Post added at 07:05 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:38 PM ----------
So I was thinking some more. I wondered if the activation popup always shows up if there is no signal. So this time I rebooted and unlocked straight away. I went to the app store, no connection. I hit the home button and...activation!
I rebooted again, but this time I waited for a data connection before unlocking...I did the same things as before. No activation popup!
Any ideas?
I'm going to flash AOKP JB4 and see if I can reproduce this.
---------- Post added at 07:45 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:05 PM ----------
I could not get the Activation popup in AOKP JB 4. One thing I noticed is that AOKP connects to the network MUCH faster than SB. I know I was getting the Activation popup in AOKP JB 3, so maybe they updated something? Perhaps the order of apps at startup?
Well, I'm sticking with AOKP JB 4 for now. If you ever get SB to work without the popup PM me, please!

You are sort of on to something there. on first boot always wait for data, go through the setup, then you can reboot and what-not. I havent seen a activation screen in a LONG time, and I am SlimBean maintainer for our device, so you can imagine how many times I flash this GS3

Yeah, I've seen your name all over the place I can absolutely imagine how many flashes you've done.
I can pretty well reproduce the activation screen issue with SB on my device on any boot. All I have to do is unlock the screen the second it's available. It only seems to happen on boot, and I don't do that very often, so I guess that's not a big deal.
I restored to a stock backup last night because AOKP wouldn't connect to my head unit via BT. I'll install SB today and give it a whirl.

Some more info.
I installed SB and waited for signal before setup. It worked fine. I rebooted a few times and, for the most part, waited until after the data connection was made before unlocking. I assumed it had already activated and was done since I didn't see the Activating screen. Unforatuntely, I just rebooted again and I unlocked immediately...and got the activation screen.
That wasn't a big deal, I figured I'd reboot and it would go away. Nope! When I rebooted it immediately went to activating...no unlock was necessary. After this point I tried playing around to see if I could find some rhyme/reason to it. Unfortunately I couldn't. The first 4 reboots produced the Activating screen no matter what I tried. Then for some unknown reason it stopped...4 reboots worked fine, no matter when I unlocked.
I am a little concerned about the length of time it takes to get a data connection. It may be just my device (hardware hiccups happen!) but it seems that it takes SB 2.6 twice as long as AOKP JB 4 to make a data connection. If that was figured out then we might not have to worry about this at all.
FYI - I'm a developer. I got my professional start on SunOS using C back in 1994 and used Unix exclusively until 2003. So I'm VERY comfortable with Unix. That being said, I'd gladly lend my expertise in troubleshooting this, if you so desire.
Hell, if you could hook me up with some links to good DIY ROM compilation instructions I'd probably go as far as putting in my own debugging code to figure out what's triggering that screen. I've been interested in getting into Android development anyway and this would be one hell of a way to start!

Well, the Activating screen is back again. This is getting frustrating.

Update 11-18-2012, using Verison S3.I am getting the "activating" message as soon as I install gapps-jb. Actually, as soon as I setup my google account. That tells me there is something wrong with the gapps. It goes away as soon as I hit the home button. I hope it get fixed soon. That's what is stopping me to use it everyday.

After going back and forward thru flashing all CM based Roms, I decide to nail the cause of this annoying message at startup. The problem always happened after installing the latest gapps 20121212-signed file and previous ones. The app that needs to be dissabled is "Setup Wizard.apk". For some reason this app runs at every startup, causing the "activating" message to pop up. The fix is: go to "manage apps" > All > Setup Wizard and click "dissable". End of the story.

Ut-Ohhh...Doomed to a hard reset? Process System Not Responding

Anyone ever see the message "Process system not responding". Here's the story.
Well, I've been installing apps like a loose cannon, figuring I may be dooming myself to a hard reset, and it may have come to pass.
Last thing that happened while the phone was running good, was I ran the demo of the 3D game XXXXXXXXX. I received a call, and had to hop away, and after that the phone became unresponsive. Looking at what was loaded with Advanced Task Killer, I did not see the game to kill, so I turned off the phone.
Now, it is taking a very long time to 'boot'. The Phone is Locked screen would pop up, and I'd try to slide it off, and it would slide about half off. Screen black except for the clock of the lock screen. And after sliding off half way, the screen would go black, as if it was off, but then the lock screen would come back.
Kept thinking that ultimately it would finish. After a bit I got the task bar at top, and it was saying preparing internal memory'Preparing Internal Mass Storage"; then finally " Media scanner running". Finally a few icons from the dock. But everything else still black.
Then finally it would come up with a big message "Sorry!. Process system is not responding. buttons for Force close, and Wait. I don't know if that is an Android message, or an app message. I tried force close, and it went back into the same iteration of events.
So the next time i tried a boot, I did not respond to the message for a while, and it seemed to be making progress behind the message. It went off, I turned it back on, it had lock screen, moved it off a bit easier.
Then finally it came up more screen things in place. Then again with a message "Process system is nto responding". Let it set 'til it went off again. This time it came up a bit futher, and this time it came up with window to select launcher. I selected TWiz launcher. Process message again, and I killed it this time.
Whewh...Still not resolved.
I guess if there are any suggestions short of hard reset, i'm interested in hearing. maybe one of you have had this happen. If it ever finishes loading, first thing I'm going to do is remove that game.
One thing that is a pain and I think contributes, is that so many apps load by default it seems. And the more you install the more that happens, from what I have seen. I know I don't have as many apps installed as I've seen others reference, but I do have 2-3 different memory type utilities that I've wondered if they woudl interfere with each othre, but they supposedly don't all load at boot.
Post long enough. I'll add more if I find anything interesting.

Well, the above post exactly describes what I have on my Captivate as well. Long boot times, "process system not responding", black screens, media scanner running/completed repeatedly, severe lagging...
Does anyone have any advice on how to deal with this issue? I've uninstalled my most recent apps, but it has not made any difference. Many thanks for any guidance!
Sounds like both of you need to restore to stock...Look in the Dev section for the Stock Odin3 1 click post..it is a sticky so it should be up towards the top..Follow the instructions and you will be back to stock...
The problems I mention above occur mostly during a reboot. The phone does eventually come up, with only occasional lagging still left (which may be more typical). I am torn between dealing with the lagging until Froyo is released (hopefully later this month) or perform the "restore to stock" you mention.
If I decide to "restore to stock", does that mean I lose everything? apps, messages, config, customizations, etc.
And if I lose everything, can I restore some apps with Titanium Backup? TB was loaded 2-3 weeks ago and I do have a full backup.
When Froyo comes, will it require the same or will it upgrade the existing OS and leave apps alone?
Many thanks for your response jhernand1102
I did that too, I sett a replacement lock screen wrong (because it asked me too) and there I was with out s phone for a few hours. The one click odin didn't work for me though. So I used the updated stock rom jh2 i believe. Look for the stock rom threads in developers forum as well as the one click odin.
If the one click odin doesn't work feel free to pm me with questions on the other rom.
Make sure you read it but they is a lot there that may confuse you.

With titanium backup you should be fine. I haven't used it but that's the point of it. A reflash may be easier the finding the error and correcting the problem. And during any flash you may have some risk of losing something but I don't think, going to froyo will lose apps by design. Anyway you have titanium backup and samsung kies to help you keep everything.
Good luck!

I guess I forgot to post back what I had to do...having had no replies at all. I think I ended up in another thread.
Anyway...I did in fact have to reflash. Using the one-click which I believe is this thread is what I used.

Thanks to all for replying today! I will go ahead and re-flash to stock. I was hoping it would be longer (a few months) before I'd have to re-load, but I guess when you live on the edge (root and lots of installs), ya gotta be ready for things to go wrong.
I do love this phone though and Android after being on a BB for so many years! It is pretty much a 1.0, so we should expect bugs and work arounds until they work the kinks out. In a crazy sort of way, it is still fun to work through these gotchas. Thanks again!
Yeah. I really hated the idea of a reflash.
but, if you haven't yet, you need to look in the DEV thread, and look into Clockwork Mod and Rom Recovery. As well, you should get teh paid version of Titanium backup.
Between those two things, occasional reflash and reload is not too painful.
I've learned so much today! Got the paid version of Titanium Backup for an easy "restore all via batch" and also did the ROM Mgr / Clockwork Recovery (thanx ewingr). So, I now have the best of both worlds for getting out of a jam and looking forward to trying out any new ROM's that may come out; with ease thanks to these apps!

[ROM][BETA 4.0.3][Evervolv-ICS-2.1.0-01MAR-HeroC]

This is now considered a beta version of Ice Cream Sandwich for the HeroC. Please keep all comments/communication about this ROM in this thread, and keep the Development thread clean for people actively working on the ROM.
No guarantees that anything will work, or that your phone will not be turned into a brick or a toaster. Please backup if you value what is currently on your phone.
You can use this with or without gapps. If you load them both on the initial setup, be sure to select "Setup Wizard" when the system first comes up.
In its current state this ROM with GAPPS needs around 155M in /system. I am currently running firerats at 160/20 just to be safe for testing purposes. I would recommend at least 155 for system.
There are some obvious places where we can reduce the size, but that will come as we continue to refine and move forward. Performance in not great, but overall it is fairly functional. Gapps are just some a minimal version to get Market working.
THIS ROM TAKES A LONG TIME TO BOOT (ESPECIALLY FIRST BOOT).
Boot animation has been added in 26NOV version. Please be patient.
This is a work in progress and there remain many Opportunities for Improvement (the gentle euphemism for Defects).
Working (at least for me):
Touchscreen
Trackball
Phone
Data
WiFi
MMS
Audio
Bluetooth
SD Card
Market
GPS
Gallery
Boot Animation
LatinIME Keyboard
Prediction/Dictionary
Network Stats (Data Usage)
Headsets (Audio Jack & HTC 11 Pin)

Camera
Gallery2
Graphics Acceleration

DATA ISSUES
If you are having issues with Data try the following settings:
"Data enabled" checked
"Data roaming" unchecked
"System select" Home only
If you still have issues with data, please capture the output of "adb logcat -b radio" from boot to completely booted and post it to pastebin or equivalent.
KEYBOARD ISSUE
Attached below is a replacement keyboard that doesn't have the bottom row off-screen. This is just a quick hack to get a functional keyboard. After some clean up and testing, I will include it in the releases going forward. Just replace the existing /system/app/LatinIME.apk with this one for the time being.
Reserved 2
This is also reserved for later use.
Nice.

hmmm after the HTC screen, i get a black screen showing nothing. Plugged the charger and shows charging light.. Still waiting for it, it's been like 3 minutes. im on 170 40 mtd settings. K nvm it setup just appeared. For those that are trying, wait for it.
EDIT: K been messing around with it (sorry for all these edit, just trying to prevent a lot of posts and I am awake this late so might as well show some heads up) but problems I found
1) Keyboard is half (missing space bar and the alt function)
2) Screen orientation is choppy
3) Im missing the actual market app, might be firerats issue
I found a pointless feature.. but using the trackball brings up a cursor lol didn't know it'd do that. Making it "click" u have to press the ball then scroll quickly rather than just keep clicking the ball.
Thank you ICS Team. Other than the items listed in the OP, I cannot get data to work. Phone is stuck on No Service and every few minutes will jump to roaming and then back to no service. If I try to call a number with the dial pad, the dial pad disappears after I press send, I assume this is because I have no cell signal. Could not test google apps due to no data. I was still able to play with the home screen, widgets, etc.
@ Majin101, my keyboad seems to be working ok, I do have the market app but haven't tried to use it yet. I am not using firerats mod. If anyone else tries to flash this, make sure you wait a few minutes for the rom to boot as mentioned in the above post. You will see a blank screen but it will eventually boot.
This is going to be a great rom. If you use a different keyboard you also get space and alt to show up.
Findings.
Okay, Seems nice. There is no bootscreen, so be patient, when setting up, choose "setup wizard"(this is kind of a no brainer, but you never know). Alright:
1. Data isn't working, I changed the roaming settings, but it didn't help.
2. As mentioned in an earlier post, the keyboard is missing some keys.
3. I do however have the market application. I used the gapps in the op and am using firerats 160 40
Really amazing work. The fact that this is even running on my hero amazes me. And they thought it would have trouble with eclair

I got the same error. It booted just fine and I thus ignored it. Would be nice to know though.
For those that want to fix the keyboard, just download ics keyboard from market. For those that cannot download from market, use root explorer to go into "cache" and create a folder named "downloads", for those that want to increase scrolling speed etc., flash the TweakZ.zip found in the android general forum here at XDA. I would also recommend setCPU.
I also got Random Offset 0x1ba. Once rebooted, HTC screen showed up then black screen. I waited 10 min but it looked frozen. So I pulled the battery. Then I accidentally formatted my SD card and the fun was over.

The "random offset" comment has to do with the flashing of the kernel. I'm not entirely sure but I think it has to do with the way the boot.img is packed. Should be harmless though..
Good to see you'll got this thing running though.

Another feedback!
pros
1) Ive been texting sending and recieving just fine no problems (havent tried mms)
2) Made calls talked fine (although my face kept hitting the end button..)
3) Installed swype, texting is fine now and changed the dictionary too english to get rid of those red lines under the words
4) Also increased pointer speed to just use the trackball if needed
other bugs:
1) Noticed that some of my notification doesn't make a sound or plays
2) When I play music its coming through the ear piece speaker rather than the back speaker
3) google map fails to login
Darn looks like I have to go back to CM7.1. People try to call me but my won't won't tell me someone is calling and their isn't any sound either. Also the gallery app opens but doesn't show pictures and apps are missing from the market but thats probably a build.prop issue.
-------
Just flashed without mtd and it seems to be working better. I'm receiving calls and can hear my sound now.
Great job guys! Running for about an hour and besides the above mentioned bugs, I've noticed one more.
When I put the phone on the charger it becomes unresponsive and the screen goes dark. No way to wake the phone nor is the charging led on.
The only way I can charge the phone is to do a battery pull and boot the phone while on the charger.
mines charging and im still able to use it?
Very Impressive, to say the least!

[Q] Troubles with Pyr'o'Ice ICS Desensed 1.1.2

since I'm a new member, I don't have permissions to post in the development forum, which is ridiculous ... I get fighting spam, but this is silly, as I'm sure I'm gonna get yelled at for posting my question in general ...
oh well, here goes:
I just installed Pyr'o'Ice ICS Desensed 1.1.2 and everything is working great so far, with the exception of two things:
1. the native browser never works, always crashes, but its no biggie I can use Chrome.
2. I cannot set any custom notifications or ringtones as that dialog ALWAYS crashes. so I'm stuck with stock sounds ...
I can't complain, coming from a stock MT4GS Sense UI this is a big change, but still I would like to report these issues to the ROM developer so they can be aware ... but XDA wont let me post there ... so here's hoping he'll see the post here.
which he probably wont...
if anybody's got any tips to solve my problem, that'll be great, otherwise, I'll keep posting my findings until I hit that magical number that will finally let me post into the development forums ...
Well, you're wrong. Nobody is going to yell at you for posting this here. What would have gotten you yelled at is if you started this thread in the development section.

The browser issue is a known issue. As for the rest did you do a full wipe after installing the rom?

Well, aside the situation when memory gets low, browser is fine here. Also sound changin works.
Do u have custom ringtones on your sdcard?
sent from HTC Doubleshot pyroiced
Browser, and sound selection all work fine for me. Try full wipe if you didn't do so earlier. If you already did, try redownloading.
@tbalden - I have custom ringtones/notifications/alarms on my SD card and it doesn't affect the behavior or cause any problems.
I'm not certain I did a full wipe (still new at this) but I'll try again.
Also another problem related to the notifications, now whenever a new notification starts, it never stops, and they overlap so after a few emails, its a crazy mix of sounds playing all at once.
quite annoying.
Just to be certain, how do I do a full wipe?
in recovery:
1 factory reset/wipe data
2 wipe cache
3 wipe dalvik cache
Full wipe worked.
Notifications now work, gonna play around and see what else, if anything, is broken.
Thanks.
I had problems with sending text messages. Auto-complete didn't work. I'd have to know the phone number. Similarly, in gmail, I tried emailing my friend Jean... i started typing "Jea".. several choices showed up, but none that I recognized (from some really old emails perhaps).
---------- Post added at 09:04 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:59 PM ----------
Another bug I found was with the power down button. I held the power button down, and selected reboot, then changed my mind so I cancelled it. Tried again, but selected power off. It prompted me to reboot instead, hit ok; the phone rebooted instead of powering off.

Contact name autocomplete seems to work based on phone numbers, but not people names. So, if I was to type in a phone number, it will find it in my address book.

The Power off reboot issue is a UI problem. When you power off, it says reboot. But its powering off, I've never had a power off reboot issues. Try wiping cache, might helps.

Pretty stable now after the full wipe.
However I'm still having a number of issues still with crashing apps and ui dialogs ...
But before I start posting all the individual issues I'm having, I was wondering if there is a way to monitor/view the syslog?
I'm clueless when it comes to android dev, but I've got enough linux and software development under my belt to figure what went wrong.
I did a number of searches but nothing came up other than hooking the device up to computer and looking at the logs there, I was hoping for something like an app so I can view these problems on the fly.

If apps are crashing from restored backup, you might want to do a fresh install, otherwise you need to find out if they are compatible with ICS

I just tried to power off, it prompted me to power off (not reboot), I confirmed, and it shut down completely.
I started it back up, Selected Reboot, then cancel. Selected Power Off, and it prompts me to Reboot, which I confirmed, and it restarted instead of shutting down.
I just did this twice. Does not seems like just a UI issue. It recalls the fact that I first selected Reboot. Does not do the opposite. So, if I first selected Power Off, cancel, then Reboot, it will reboot correctly.
I'm never going back to android 2. Here's a few other small things I found in 1.1.2:
There are 2 different Gallery apps installed. On purpose?
Under Manage Apps, I found several apps I can't access anywhere, maybe they're not apps, but here they are: Bubbles, Black Hole, Phase Beam.
Sim Toolkit won't run. It say "SIM Toolkit is not ready or unsupported".
Street View is installed, but Maps is not.

Any way to configure my contact list to display a dial button next to contact names?
The battery drained overnight because I forgot to plug it in. I got it charging now, however, when i turn it on, com.android.phone keeps crashing every 2 seconds.
Wiped cache and dalvik cache.. no effect. From Manage Apps, I cleared data for the Contacts app. It stopped... I rebooted.. it's back.

NamelessROM logs for Dhiru

Hi Dhiru,
As a "new" user I'm not allowed to post on development forums so I'll left my logs to you here.
Since two or three nightlies ago I'm facing random wifi blocks, it simply doesn't activate. The problem resist reboot, cache and dalvik wipe and also one clean install. Another problem facing in the last nightly (20140710) is a few crashes of launcher and camera app simply not opening. Logs are attached. I'll read more about them to do better logs and simplify your good job with the rom. Thank you.

Now I'm running 20140712 with no camera and no wi-fi. There are attached log from 20140710 (or maybe 20140711 I'm not sure) working wifi and 20140712 with no camera and no wifi.
Regards.
Camera working again in 20140715 but too less ram.
Thanks bro

Hi, i've got 140mb ram free after using the zRam advice in this page:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2762873&page=15
Encryption Issue
one of the major issues in Nameless is the impossibility to encrypt the device, to be more precise, when i tap "encrypt device" appears the droid logo but nothing more happens (it should immediately reboot and show a percentage of progress). if i press the back (return) button it return to settings but status bar disappears, the only way to make it come back is to hold center button and remove encryption from backgroud process.
I'd like to know where is the problem
I experimented a reboot in while opening whatsapp in 20140718. Here is the log.
I swapped off the zRam but it still not going smooth. Thank you Articadrake for the advice. I had the same issue as you trying to encrypt when I was using CM11. Then I didn't try again. I think this is a feature of the rom, the same as screen recording but incompatible in a not powerful device as Galaxy SCL is.
I hope they read it also and being useful.
You may post logs in correct thread, dont think Dhiru is looking for anything in general section.

Last weekly issues
Since last weekly release I've sperimented frequent freezes (10-15sec) and then screen goes black and back to lockscreen with all the previous opened apps close! Am I the only one?

With today nightly, camera zoom fx freezes the phone and make camera (in any app) unusable and the system became unstable such as, passw lock screen freezes after typing the code and goes back to lock screen.... So you type again and freezes.... Till you reboot phone.
With last nightly every time phone entered deep sleep mode, it become impossibile to wake up, tried every button, tried shakung (sometimes worked in the past) now only thing was to remove battery. I had installed "screen off" app to tap and switch off screen without pressing power button. Uninstalled and went back to nandroid backup of 18/7. Everything works fine now, no more problems, only some random 15sec freezes but acceptable

Hey Chavalier
Thanks for your reply.
I can do that but is there any alternate solution available to avoid formatting my device?
Same Issue
I'm not sure what carrier that you are with or if that even has anything to do with it. But I am with T-Mobile and I initially received the update a couple of weeks ago and right after my phone updated I noticed that my messages would no longer appear on the edge screen. Everything else worked just fine except for that. I called T-Mobile and they had me do a factory reset (which always sucks). After the reset the phone worked just fine for a couple of hours then went right back to experiencing the same issue. I called in again and this time they suggested sending me another phone because it sounded like a hardware issue and she also told me that no one else in her department with the same phone had any issues with their phone after the update (how true that was or if she really even asked anyone I don't know). So I called back in yesterday and the guy suggested that I do not install the update and just bypass it (I didn't like that idea at all but I figured I would give it a try). So now the update updates on it's own and I can't even bypass it. So after a new phone, 5 factory resets and plenty of frustration I still can't receive my notifications on my edge screen.
Please someone help!!

"Hi guys. First of all, i registered specifically to tell you of this solution. It's a very frustrating problem, im not sure if it's a bug too...
Ive tried factory reset, clearing cache (all three times, though it's probably a bit useless considering I'm not rooted/flashing custom roms).
As most people realize, this works until you restart the phone or randomly in the middle of the night as the phone goes into deep sleep mode.
I've tried disabling, enabling apps to no avail.
This is the solution my friends...
Go to settings->sounds and notifications -> notifications on lock screen change to show contents.
You may need to restart the phone.
And notification is back.
Im not sure why this is the case (i have fingerprint lock enabled), but i think this is done for privacy purposes. It will be silly if you had notification hidden then it comes up on the edge screen. So when you have notification hidden, the bug is probably that ALL notification is hidden.
Let me know if this works for all of you!"
It worked for me! Hopefully it works for you too! The only drawback is now everyone can see your messages on your lock screen. But at least it's back (sort of).

Hi
I am still facing a small issue with the phonebook as if I am scrolling through the contacts for quite sometime, the screen refreshes suddenly and take me to the Homescreen. Other that this no issues at all.
Since updating my Edge 915S ota to 5.1.1 I don't get LTE connection anymore, it only shows 3g.
Can you please advise how I can get LTE/4G back?
Many thanks.
