Sounds like the bootloader was unlocked. and your recovery didn't stick. So it can't get to the next step.
Flash the Interm clockwork reocvery then boot to that. Afterwards put on any recovery you'd like.

Have been trying to flash clockwork recovery through rom manager for a couple of days. It always says Flashed succesfully but when I try to go to recovery it takes me to the bootloader. it happened after i updated to the newest version. anyone else have this issue or is there any other way without using ADB? Im not good at that.
do you mean when you go into the bootloader (vol up + power) it doesnt automatically bring you to recovery? (this is not supposed to happen) or when you select the recovery menu from the bootloader it just reboots the bootloader again
it just reboots the bootloader
This may be of help to you.

Thanks! Booting recovery (either from the bootloader or from 'reboot to recovery in ROM manager' was just hanging on "Google" for me. This fixed it!
i finally was able to adb got it thanks for your help
I tried all the methods of rooting, but none of them is working. Can anyone help.
I had unlocked my bootloader successfully and when trying to push the custom recovery img it says booting but it hangs on a Google screen with a lock unlocked and fastmode status - okay written.
I tried the Toolkit on XDA also and the phone doesnt restarts after "booting into Android using an Insecure Boot Image" and same screen appears
I am running Android 4.0.4 and build IMM76D

are u sure u are posting in the right section ? (title says Nexus S)
1. wrong forum
2. dont use toolkits
instead of the fastboot boot recovery recovery.img command, try fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Worked
I tried this thread and I was able to go into custom recovery mode.

Strange it was not going by flashing CWM. Then I installed ROM manager and installed CWM from it. Bingo!!! Everything is cool now
hey guys when i try to boot into cwm my phone just restarts itself
i got the white htc screen with the red text but after that the phone reboots
Can you get into the bootloader and goto fastboot?
What I would do is "Clear Storage" from the bootloader, restart the bootloader and re-push CWM.img using fastboot in your Command Prompt.
brwetz,
I am having the same issue. I have tried to clear storage, and flashing a new recovery and am still stuck in a boot loop. Can someone please help me?
When you flashed a recovery have you flashed a ROM (even the stock one)? Or did you just write a new Recovery and try rebooting?
So I rooted my phone and installed Clockwork Recovery. I tried installing a new rom and ended up bricked into it, the phone wouldn't boot in and would get stuck on the boot animation. So i tried re-locking the boot loader and flashing back to ruuu, it would not work and give me error messages. I tried to fast boot recovery but that failed to. Also in clockwork recovery my sd card can't be mounted. I tried a few other things and now my phone is stuck in clockwork recovery. I can't go back into hboot and cant booth the phone either. Every time I power it off then back on it goes back into clockwork and I cant do anything there since it cant mount the sd card. Please help.

if u cant get in to boorloader via pressing the buttons..u can boot into recovery connect the phone to pc and then shoot the command adb reboot bootloader

Hi, I'm new to XDA. Sorry if I did something wrong already. But I have a problem, I tried installing a new boot animation to my moto e 1st gen (bootloader was unlocked, it was rooted too). Now whenever I turn the phone on, The WARNING BOOTLOADER UNLOCKED image shows up, but there is no boot animation. I cannot access anything, I can only go into recovery mode and CWM. I have tried factory reset using Recovery Mode (No success, just does WARNING boot loop again ) I have also tried factory reseting through CWM, till no success. I am giving up, I just recently bought this phone. NAY help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Hello,
Can you tell us what firmware was your phone running? Also what recovery do you have on your phone?
If stock, you may try flashing stock firmware via fastboot.

Thanks for responding so quickly! But I fixed the problem a few minutes after posting this . But there is a new problem, I downgraded from Android 5.0.2 to Android 4.4.2. After doing this the phone worked perfectly. Then a few minutes later it installed a system update for 4.4.4 and now the phone is hard bricked. I can't access recovery mode, CWM, or even turn the phone on now. Before charging the phone, if I held the power button for a long time, the LED lit up and turned back off. Now there is no response from the phone at all no matter what I do.
Also, I had ClockWorkMod and stock recovery on my phone (Is stock recovery the one that shows up when you hold power+volume down? If so I had both CWM and stock) But now I can't access either recovery modes. If it at least went into stock recovery, I'd flash stock firmware, root it, install CWM, and flash a Lollipop zip. (I like Lollipop, I don't know why there are so many people that hate Lollipop )
Any help would be much appreciated. All i need now is a way to flash files without going into recovery mode on phone.
