You can't rely on other peoples feed back, every phone reacts differently to ROMs, they may all be infuses but they all are actually quite different...none of its hardware is exact...same goes with any device...they are all built to a certain scale...like as long as its with in 5-10 inches its OK, but if its under 5 or over 10 inches then its not OK (that was just something easy to relate to ..switch those measurements with what the hardware can stand temp wise, oc wise, UV wise, everything...)
Thats why some people can under volt there phone by a lot and other people can barely under volt there phone...why some people have no problem overclocking and other people experience reboots, heating...etc
That is why you really need to just try them yourself and see what happens...

Personally for me. I like Paranoid Android. I love being able to change the DPI and overall look of the apps. I like making the text smaller on most of them so I can fit more on the screen.
Its just personal preference on what works well for you.
We have some great developers on here who are cranking out awesome builds for us!

Tribalartgod and I are teaming up, and we will be trying to develop a battery mod that has not been done before. I was just curious to see if there is any interest in this? My guess is it will probably be for the rooted stock ROM to begin with but we would have plans to port it. Let us know if your interested.
I won't tell you exactally what we are planning just yet, but in the words of peter griffin "it should be pretty freaking sweet!"
I'm in. Just drop me a line when it is ready and I will be glad to play with it and test it out. Currently running CoreDroid latest and greatet if that matters......
I'm definitely interested to see what you guys come up with.

Sure, the more options the better. Im running TPC rom, and will try it out.

Well said... Rival is fun, but it's too competitive, I think... Now options... THAT is always good.
Ladies and Fellas... If what we have planned comes together properly and works, it's going to open a few more doors for development... Granted, there will be those that DON't like it...but hey.. that's why you can flash something else.

Not quite, though I am sure after we finish this project we may be able to muster something like that or to that extent. Seems like it would be easy enough to make.
I will say what we are planning is a little more in depth then that.
edit: op subject updated to sound better.
Would you be talking about something along the lines of this?

The only problem I see is it might be a little to long.

Yeah like that but vertical. Kinda like cm7 battery when you have percentage showing.

it turns out the inspire is the only other phone so far that has the same ds2784 battery chip as the nexus one. in my sig you can see the work we did on the n1, which gives a huge amount of control and edits and hacks you can do to the battery, because of the ds2784 chip.
i do not have an inspire to do the work like i did on my nexus. but it would be pretty easy, nearly identical most likely. someone should take this up. first step would be to locate the battery driver in the inspire source code, which i have not yet looked for, and post it here i guess.
its a great project!
This mod will be quite a bit of work, but if it gets done it will be the shiz. Completely original idea and although its just a battery, but I think people will love it.

This isn't going to end well, so lets nip it in the bud now. As is probably on all the forums there is no most/best/awesomemest etc. Its all subjective on what a person likes or dislikes does or doesn't do. I can say black ice, but the next person says AR, then the next says something else until you essentially have all the roms listed from the Dev section.

You don't even have to read a lot of posts, you read maybe one or two pages at the most and you'll find out, for instance absolution(the only Rom I use on my inspire) is extremely stable for me and is perfect for my needs but it may not be the same for you it may not work for you, you may prefer sense, so really its all personal preference. Threads like these get closed all the time because they're unnecessary since most of the roms in this forumare plenty stable except the ones that say they are betas and have things that don't work. There is that a good enough answer for you? Because that's exactly what that picture says. A picture is worth a thousand words.

I guess maybe you guys have more going on here with your roms then the epic touch community has atm.. there are probably 3 or four roms that ppl would agree on being the more stable and bug free roms....that may not be the case here, but like I said im out on vacation and was just hoping for a way to find something to fix my nieces phone before I head out home tomorrow. Either way I looks I'll just have do some searching of my own when I get back from the beach....best regards and sorry for being that guy to post a subjective question

Best ROMs are subjective, try them on for size and make your own decision.
I'm thinking of building a ROM of sorts, and I'm wondering if anyone would be interested in it.
The ROM would basically be what i run on a daily basis. A combination of a ROM and Kernel that work well together, with my own tweaks, changes, and settings baked right into it.
The idea would be that you would flash the rom, then forget you ever did. No changing frequency, no profiles, no Undervolting, no flashing other kernels, just the ROM and nothing else needed. (and I'd discourage trying it)
I would change UV settings to work on most phones, and a small overclock (most likely a 1.1 or 1.2Ghz), as well a stock Frequency/Voltage version. and each version would be stable enough to use as a daily driver.
It would most likely be a 'Flavor of the week' kind of thing, and I'll most likely change the base rom/kernel somewhat frequently (like once a month at most) to what I'm using that's stable.
So, does this sound good to anyone, or am i building for a demographic that's not there?
I would use it if u make it for the photon

sounds like a great idea... in this trend of rapidly developing roms, a stable rom with recent source changes for a change is great to fallback to.
Do you have any rom development experience? where would you rate your skill level at?

Sounds like a really good idea, I myself sometimes get sick of constantly flashing & re- setting up my phone the way I like it, a good long term rom with everything would be awesome. How bout using the new 2.3.4 stock as a base?

ive been programming in C/java for about 4 years now, (2nd year programming student currently) and ive been building my personal roms from source for about 6 months, and in the past few months ive started actively changing source code, integrating parts from some kernels and ROMs, and adding things to system apps (like voltage control and frequency mod in the settings.apk)
however, on the other hand, i do have fairly large gaps in my knowledge. i only barely know how to use github, and i haven't really dealt with the Linux/android kernel much before this.
honestly, on a scale from 1-10 (1=android user, 10= developer like Whitehawkx/Morfic) id say about 7.

i feel im a very competent programmer, but there are thing i am pretty much oblivious too. outside of android I've got a good portfolio of programs and source, but when it comes to android, I'm still learning. (and i definitely feel your more knowledgeable than me)
Do it one more person helping the community isn't a bad thing. You're obviously knowledgeable enough. Once you start playing with it and have a base crowd that likes what you do you'll get further involved and make a great rom in my eyes. You're willing to help everyone and give a very insightful solution to most and all types of questions.

I agree with the above, but be weary of the people who destroy devs by all the nagging and begging.
Anticipating the arrival of this ROM!
I would do it. If you can base it off of stock with some cm7 improvements that would be cool, like with weapon g2x. I was using weapon till I switched to HFP.

I will always support you, you always have long detailed responses to everyones questions and if anyone complains about your rom, let me know we will have a flame war. We don't want to lose a dev. Also I'm sure the other devs I'll help you out if you have any questions because they are all amazing people IMO. Go for it! Even if no one uses it, its a learning experience for you. We cannot justify that the Rom x is better than the Rom y, it depends on our own taste and way of using it.. sense our ICS base ROM's are under development as of this time,
and most of all we just need to provide them some log's in every issue we encounter so that they can work on it, in that way we can have a better ICS as ROM builds progress.. what we can do is to give thanks to our great dev's who work hard to give us the ICS,
but base on my experience i never encounter any issue in AOKP, specially on the latest build
Beam hands down. Smoother faster and better battery life. I think so anyways . But both are awesome!

Let's see, how's that phrase go again... Oh yea...
It's all a matter of opinion, and my opinion is the only one that matters... to me...
Everyone has a favorite, for whatever reason, but their reasons may not be the next persons. Personally, haven't tried Beam, and no offense to whoever the dev is for it, but I don't plan to. I'm happy with AOKP, and I'll keep updating it (in fact I need to download the latest) but other than that, i'm done messing with this phone...

I was going to do something like this thread but for MIUI vs cMIUI. Then I thought that people would come telling that it's a personal thing, every ROM is great, they are all smooth and fast... and stuff like that. I think that the OP was asking for more than the general description. What really is it that made you choose that ROM over the other?
My choice here would be AOKP. I have used Team Acid's ROMs since forever, back in the Froyo days when ICBINB and Audiophiles were all over the place. I trust their work and it fits my personality. Constant support and never had an unsolved issue. My dad has been using Valhalla Black since it came out, I don't remember when. He thinks that it's the ultimate thing, still. So, that's enough proof that their work is awesome. Doesn't mean I don't like other development. I have used every ROM, mod and kernel here. Just my preference. Of course, AOKP is smooth, fast, stable, simple, no confusing apps (normal launcher), doesn't take much time to set up to my preferences and it has constant support and updates. But then again, every other ROM has it too. It's very hard to describe the choice, but I can't find other way to explain it.
No disrespect to other devs here. I know Erik, Thomas, Dao, Solrac, Anton and the others do an excellent job. In fact, I'm currently on cMIUI, not AOKP. But I have tried all other's and it's very hard to decided with which one to stay with.
Beam if you want speed and smoothness
aokp if you want customization

They all have pros an cons to them. They all seem quit unique also. PeachSunrise fits me best for now. I like the simple UI and battery life seems better, however i didnt stay with the others long so could be wrong. Ive seen people say it takes a week to really get to know a ROM which seems understandable. I would recomend to anyone to just flash one and try it. Its easy to go back.
