I received a refurb from t-mobile yesterday and I have been experiencing nothing but problems with the data connection on this new device...
I can also not receive or make calls most of the time, and my old brand new one s didnt do that, now the only way to make or recieve a call is to restart or cycle flight mode...
I will be staring at the phone with a 4g signal indicator full bars and it will go to voicemail after 2 rings... it's supposed to be 3 if I am correct
My friend got a one s like a week before mine and he still has his first one and its working flawlessly
For the record my first one s got shipped back to t-mo for the power button going out.
Has anyone ever heard of this before? I restored the device to factory and I made t-mobile give me a brand new sim card but the problem persists
Having t-mobile send me a new handset tuesday... I never ran the 1.84 RUU on this new device does anyone think this will solve my issue?
I have not messed with this new phone at all yet its completely stock [LOCKED] status
I had similar issues before rooting, custom ROM, and updating the radio. The radio fixed all my issues with data and missing/not being able to make calls. Hopefully, you have an older hboot and can play around (more easily) to find the radio that works best for you. For me, 0.16.31501S16_2_10.22.31501S.10L is great.

i have just looked for a previous thread that i started but when i did a search for my name it comes up and says no threads found so i think it may have been deleted for some reason
my initial problem was with my desire, i bought it branded to orange from cex, i use vodafone so needed to get it unlocked, i took it to my local phone shop who unlocked it with an unlock code, it hadn't previously been used to make calls untill it was unlocked because it wasn't on the network i needed, anyway, as soon as i tried to make calls they would drop out constantly, couldn't hold 1 single call, some calls would last for a few minutes but would still drop out, i have tried everything suggested, using the aeroplane mode to try and sort it out and also changing the frequencies, none of this helped although when i tried to connect using only wmcda only the calls would drop out less and last a little longer...my firmware was never updated so the firmware on it was 2.1 .......i have since sent my desire of for repair/replacement and have contacted them today (since they have had it 3 weeks) and was told it is ready to be sent back to me and that it has had the mother board replaced...has anyone else had similar problems who had had a new mother board fitted and then the problems have stopped??? im thinking that when it comes back it will be as useless as a phone as it was when i sent it off
thanks
I don't have any ideas about the dropped calls, but here is your thread.

cheers, i couldn't for the life of me find it, even when doing a forum search for my name lol....strange
I just purchased the sII skyrocket 2 weeks back. About every 2 days the phone would stop receiving calls. When i get a call it would ring a half ring and then at the top where it shows the signal would have a no sign on it like there was no service. Once its goes in to this mode it would stay in it until i reboot the phone. The problem is that i never actually know who is calling because it never logs a missed call. This is the first i have seen this on any andriod phone. Here is some additional info, Stock Rom, Phone is rooted, i have the following apps frozen using TBP
Allshare
At&T code canner
At&T hotspots
At&T navigator
At&T ready 2 Go
Featured Apps
Kies Air
Kies via Wifi
Kobo
NFC service
NFC Test
QIK Lite
QuickOffice
Social Hub
Tethering Manager
Any thoughts? I should add that its not specific to one contact it will happen to anyone that calls, i have tested this calling from my wifes cell to mine when it was in this mode and saw it happen constantly. Rebooted sitting in the same place phone received calls.
no feedback yet from community but i thought i would post an updated.
I contacted AT&T that suggested it could be the SIM card, I went to the store tonight and changed out my SIM. I will update this if the issue goes away so in case some one has something similar they know what a potential fix could be.
Interesting.
Did you get a new SIM card when you get the Skyrocket as well?
I know they issued me a new SIM card at purchase because of the LTE upgrade.
yep they gave me a new sim card when i purchased it said the old one wasn't compatible. So the one i just received replaced the new one that is about 10 days old.
just to update this, this seemed to have fully fixed my issue.. since i swapped the sim there have been no issue
Your SIM was probably dying out, it happens.
Glad to see your issue was fixed, I was thinking you were having LOS, same as the Sprint SGS II.
Just found out that I can't make any outgoing calls and it looks that is only ICS related. Like most of us, yesterday I installed that first nandroid backup version of ICS, rooted it, flashed glados 2.0 kernel and everything worked great out of the box, 2G/3G data tested, answered few calls, received and sent sms also without problems. Well, today I tried to make my first outgoing call but no success, got "call ended" message immediately after I press phone icon on contact or using a dialer. I flashed new ICS bootloader and radio but that also didn't solve it, then I restored my GB backup and calling worked as before, even with new bootloader/radio. I also can't change those "other call settings" in dialer, it says "network or SIM card error". At last, I wiped everything and flashed today's version of NexusBeam HD ROM and the problem still persists
So, anyone got same problem or solution?
Same here..
Thanks for replying, seems like I'm not the only one with that issue, the only thing that's crossing my mind is that this could be carrier related because we are both on Tele2 in eastern europe... Can anyone else on same carrier confirm that?
I just tried. First attempt failed, like what you described. But all subsequent attempts succeeded. It does seem like there's some sort of bug in ICS.
Really weird, no matter how many times I try, still can't get it working... It's kinda frustrating because I really like ICS as everyone else. However, I'm back to GB and waiting for 4.0.4 or next update which IMO shouldn't be too far because people are getting all kind of issues, seems to me that google released it a bit too early.
Hi, i had the same problem, i needed to upgrade my radio. depending on your phone model pick the compatible one.
download, flash in recovery.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1116884
Thanks for advice, but already tried them all without success. After reading similar cases, I'm 99% sure that's Tele2 problem because everyone who has this issue is on this carrier, calls are working normal with other operator's sim cards in same area. I just emailed their customer support so I'm wondering what their response will be
i had same problem and i tried all radios but to no avail so i just downloaded and flashed the radio that i knew used to work for me. Even though it didn't work i left the phone of for like 4 hrs then turned it on later and it had signal. not sure what changed.
Solved at last, seems that it actually was a carrier issue like I thought. Tele2 responded on my mail after 1 MONTH and all they said was that problem is strictly in my android software... However, few days ago I replaced my sim with their latest, and as soon it got activated the "call issue" was gone... everything works as it should with no bugs so if you have a similar problem with your carrier just try replacing a sim with the newest one.
I like it when people get the problem solved by themselves and return to tell how they did it. Thanks.
i posted this on another website's forum yesterday...sorry for those who read it twice, but i got no responses and am desperate.
so my launch day phone had a bit of an accident last weekend the screen cracked. I was able to get another thunderbolt from someone, was originally a refurb (tag under battery says "remanufactured in Philippines" )
any who I've been using the refurb one for about a week now, no major issues. But now today I can't get LTE at all...I've tried reflashing different radios, going back to sense over CM7...nothing. Put the same sim card in another phone right next to it, LTE.
What else can I do? thanks in advance
Have you installed an app recently that is messing up the phone? Have you checked to see if LTE is active on the phone? *#*#4636#*#* and check your phone info. Could always try flashing another radio.
Why does everyone start flashing radios and performing hard resets on their phones when a signal problem shows up? Wouldn't it be wise to contact Verizon first and make sure it isn't their problem? If you haven't changed anything on your phone, there's a 99% chance that verizon is having an off day.
nothing comes to mind that i would of installed that triggered this.
tried different radios.
called verizon to see what they can do. Looks like I can get a replacement phone shipped out. Now to return to stock. thanks.

I'm surprised the VZW rep didn't tell you that it's because the 4G sim cards are paired with your phone. I tried to swap 2 4G phones on my account in the past and I was told that the 4G cards are associated to the phones and they would need to send me out new 4G sim cards. This was a while ago, so I'm not sure if it's still valid, but I would think that they'd have a way to re-link the sim cards on their end.
Good luck with this.
so I'm loving the new phone been flashing all the roms thought i messed up my IMEI but I'm good cause its back and looks normal. But ever since I flashed CM9 and did a battery pull during activation (I know I know) I no longer get 4G on my phone. when i switch it manually to 4G with Phone Info I can get data and go on web, but when I go to make calls it says I can not because no coverage.
I called VZW today, and got my up to 2ed teir, and they said that this is known issue with the SG3 and there are many complaints, and they are working with Samsung to correct this and said a software update will be coming out to fix this.. has any one else experienced this? I'm thinking I need a new sim?
has anyone been able to fix this, I looked at my radio and its not the most recent version... could this be causing the issue
i got best buy to replace my gs3 because of no 4g, i still was within my 30 day return period though... pretty sure i could of used phone info to fix it back to 4g, i didn't try because i wanted a new gs3, never had any issued connecting to 4g with new gs3, exept when i play around with cm10 or other jelly bean roms
I lost my 4G connection last night and most of today, ended up flashing a stock rom (then lost all data connection) drove all the way to the verizon store to get a new sim card, put the phone into airplane mode and when it came out of that i had full connection again. Not sure what caused it.

I have 2 Galaxy S3 and they both did the same thing when I switched the sim cards, I cannot get back to 4G
and I AM NOT EVEN ROOTED, thats sad very sad
I had a similar issue when using a third party 3g toggle in Quicker. Ever since then no data or vice capabilities.
sorry - did not know anyone was posting here, I started posting in the one in Q&A... There are too many 4G threads!
I fixed mine by getting a new sim card.

I'm not experiencing no 4g, but I am experiencing a horrible connection.... This is my second gs3. My first one did not experience these connection issues, and I'm pretty sure I'm using the same sim card (I exchanged it at the store and wasn't paying attention when they were setting it up...).
Maybe I have another faulty device?

I would start with a new sim, just walk into a store and say you are having connection issues and vzw said to get a new sim
No 4G fix - you've punked you SIM card!

Easy fix (just copied from a post elsewhere): save everything you have open, pop up your dialer, and type *2767*3855# - which resets (it says "Reformat" on an ugly red screen that flashes by in a heartbeat, just go with it) your SIM card and therefore your 4G capabilities. It will immediately reboot and - "tada", you have 4G service again.

copied form the IMEI backup thread right? I did this and it did not work for me, the only thing that worked was getting a new SIM.
Just trying to help narrow down why people are getting this. Just posted this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=30913011#post30913011
In the other "No 4G" thread. Anyone who loose their 4G use lucky patcher and TiBu?
