Keyboard skins - General Questions and Answers

Hello,
I recently installed JB (CM10) on my Motorola Defy+. According to me, the new Android keyboard is excellent at guessing words but it makes typing really hard on a 3.7-4" screen.
Is there any way you can keep the original JB keyboard modifying the skin only? (or else is there any keyboard with the same A.I. of the JB one but a different skin?)

German Word Suggestion and Qwertz-Keyboard under Cyan

Hi,
I have read several old threads about this topic, but in non was a satisfing answer. So I decided to pose the Question more direct.
Under Cyanogen 4.2.2 it makes no difference what so ever what I select as system language the Keyboard is always qwerty and the wordsuggestions "english".
So is there a way to change it, that I don't get, without loading and Market Keyboard.

Well, I had the same problem. I just installed TouchPal which is a free, great default keyboard replacement.

changing input method on android

Hi,
I'm about to order an Xperia X10, but i really hate using software keyboards (QWERTY).
Is there any way i can install/replace the QWERTY keyboard with a T9-keypad type input method like the one on my HTC Touch HD?
cheers in advance
Better Keyboard has a compact qwerty, and i`m pretty sure a T9 style as well. You might want to check out the leaked WVGA HTC_IME, it is considered by many to be the best soft keyboard available on android.
i found the HTC IME, it looks great. I havent recieved my phone yet, i'm wondering if its as easy to replace the IME on android as it is on Windows Mobile. I.E. will it feel hacked on or "native"? thanks
Changing input methods is supported natively.

[Q] Gingerbread Keyboard

I tried using the gingerbread keyboard. Very nice indeed.
My question is:
Does the gingerbread keyboard implement the BlindType technology Google recently bought. I am thinking not; since i tried a little and didn't see much difference.
But anybody have info on that?
Another question. Is the Swype keyboard still and option?
Swype is completely separate from the Gingerbread keyboard (or any other keyboard), and you can have as many different keyboards installed at once as your phone has space for. I have 4 or 5 keyboards, including Swype, on my phone.

[Q] Cyanogen 7 keyboard on stock nexus s

Hi All, I've tried the new CM but it was too unstable for me, however, I would love to be able to install the keyboard that comes with it on my stock nexus-s...
Is that possible?
can somebody post the apk (or an update.zip with the relevant apk and libraries)?
Thank you!
Search the Market for Gingerbread Keyboard
Thanks but I already have the nexus s with the gingerbread keyboard, the keyboard in the mod is slightly better since it supports hebrew and allows to move between languages by swiping the spacebar button...
that's the functionality i'm looking for
My friend recommended https://market.android.com/details?id=com.klye.ime.latin , I think that is what I needed

[Q] Alternate (samsung maybe) keyboard?

Hi all,
Running Cyanogenmod 9 nightlies (Currently March 25 version) and all is working well.
One thing though is I really prefer the onscreen keyboard on my Galaxy Nexus over the one on the transformer. Specifically, I like how the top row of buttons on the Samsung has long-press for numbers.
I can't seem to find any other keyboards marked as being ICS compatible after searching here.
Does anyone know if there is the Samsung keyboard available for install on the TF101, or another one, or something I can do to tweak mine to get the desired functionality?
Have you tried Swype keyboard?
It's friggin amazing. I like it with auto-correction turned off though.
It has numbers in the top row that can be long-pressed.
hackers keyboard ftw.
