Hey Guys,
I just purchased an unlocked Droid Razr Maxx Xt910.
System Version: 672.180.340.XT910.AmericaMovil.en.01
Model Number: XT910
Android Version: 4.0.4
My question is if this is a good thing to stay on? Is there something better I should flash my phone to? Is there a stock ROM I can flash to that will allow me to receive updates quicker? (ie. JellyBean).
I live in the U.S. and understand that there are no stock SBFs for the U.S. Am I better off on some other ICS OS from a different region or should I stick with my Claro 672.180.340.XT910 System Version?
Oh and another tidbit of info. My plans are to use this phone on Straight Talk using there good 'ol SimCard program.
Thanks in advance...
Pardon my noobish ways.

I recently purchased an unlocked Android RAZR from Newegg, in hopes of saving money by not buying it from Verizon, and getting a cheaper non-contract plan from AT&T. I read that it came with Gingerbread 2.3.6 and you may upgrade the OS to Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.4. I made a failed attempt to Settings > About Phone > System Updates. Nothing happens when I do this, although I am connected to wi-fi, so I am guessing it has something to do with my System Version, or the fact I am currently not active on any network.
I did my research before registering an account to post this forum. I found a few guides on how to manually update the OS but, these guides had been specifically for the AsiaRetail and Verizon phones. I have a MERetail phone and to my understanding I may be out of luck, unless I can find a version for the MERetail, or somehow change my phone's System Version to AsiaRetail, so I may use that version to flash the ROM.
So.. What to do?..
System Version: 65.1.12.XT910.MERetail.en.06
Model Number: XT910
Android Version: 2.3.5
The noob thanks you,

Hello Guys...
first of all, excuse me for my poor english... sometimes I don't know the exactly word I need.
Anyway... I'm from Brazil, and the Razr HD just arrived here. My problem is the following: I bought one... but it has customizations from the cell phone operators (Like Verizon and other, in my case is from Claro, yes the mexican one).
I want to eliminate these customization, and I think that the best way to do this is root the phone, unlock the boot loader and load a stock rom, insn't it?
but that's my problem. I can't find the stock razr hd's rom in any place... Recently i found the Xoom2 stock room, so I imagine that's there already a Razr HD rom somewhere to download.
If anyone could help... I'll be grateful!!
Thanks a lot and happy 2013!!!
P.S. I don't think "Stock Rom" is what I need... reading more I found that stock Rom is the pure android... what I need is the room without any customization, the oficial motorola released rom... did you understand what I mean?
Thks again!

Please post questions in the Q&A thread. As for terminology, "stock rom" means how the phone is when it's first turned on. All the different cel service providers specify provider specific apps to be added to the rom. Motorola doesn't release an unbranded rom. Also, the radio is set specifically to a region for LTE access (not all radios are on all the time, as that would drain battery like crazy).
Best way to get what you're looking for... Check the "debloat" threads in Q&A and look for which apps can be frozen safely. You will have to root and install an app like root uninstaller to do so.

I too got a XT925 from Claro and did exactly what you described. It worked perfectly.
1) Rooted the phone
2) Downloaded retail ROM from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1943879
3) Used RSD Lite 6.0 to install the ROM
You can also freeze the unwanted apps (iJogos, iJogos HD...) , but I think you can only remove the Claro logo during boot by flashing a retail rom.
Best of luck!

Actually, in Brazil you can buy unbranded, retail phones. I think this is different in the USA and Europe, where phones are only sold through operators.

I have a RAZR HD XT925 From Telcel Mexico
No rooot, locked bootloader.
2-3 moths Ago I get the update request
And now I want to go back to ICS, the reason, some battery, app and HDMI problems with jb
The question.
Can I go back From Jellybean (OTA updated) to ICS (stock) with locked bootloader?
I already downloaded this file
7.7.1Q-144_VQL_S3-58_AmericaMovil_MX_SIGNLATAMUnlk_USAVANQUTELMXLA014.0R_VANQUISHTELMXLA_P046_A060_CFC_fastboot_v2.xml
How can i do it?
I appreciate your help
Greetings.
You'd have to unlock your bootloader first.

You can not return, without unlocking the operator. If you do not risk, the best you can do is install another Firmware (I recommend Rogers, Canada, is very clean, and I had no difficulties).
Telcel firmware is full of unnecessary applications. I'm from Mexico, and sincerely preferred to unlock and have newer versions of JB (I'm testing 4.2 on CyanogenMod 10.1).
The RAZR HD is very powerful to keep ICS.
I am trying to get the XT926 to work on a GSM network in India , so far i have not managed to find any solution .

Hi,i just get my droid razr maxx HD two days ago,and i can use my local operator,'m live at indonesia ,have you try to set the the network to GSM/UMTS ?
XT926 WILL NOT WORK ON A GSM NETWORK. It is built with a CDMA radio, that's hardware. You need an xt925, which is built with the GSM radio in order to use a GSM network. There is no software changes that you could make to change a CDMA phone into a GSM one. Sorry.

No. Its a global phone. It in fact has the GSM radios built into it. And others have had success with using it on GSM networks.
For example this thread shows how to make it work with us GSM carriers:

This question comes up A LOT. You could do a search in either the RAZR HD forums or the RAZR M forums to find the answer. The phone is a global phone, it has a SIM card and it works on GSM networks outside the US. There's a lot of misinformation floating around with people, like hte poster above, screaming about it being CDMA and not working globally... this is simply not true. I have been to Australia with this thing, it works fine.
The problem that others have found is that because India uses CDMA there's some logic burned into the phone that locks it to Verizon and their partner carrier whilst in India. Unfortunately, there is no known workaround that I have found. Some people have tried things with RadioComm, including the GSM unlock which allows the HD to be used on US GSM carriers (ATT/TMo). I haven't seen anything to indicate that this fix also fixes the phone so it can be used in Inida.
Sorry for the bad news...

Hi. I've successfully being using the razr maxx HD in India . Earlier me to face similar problem as you for not be able to use this phone. However with the OTA ver .16 update, the phone automatically started to work on the Indian sims and since then its no looking back.
Why don't you flash the latest current stock rom update which I think is v.18 .
I believe you should have no problems

Im planning To Buy XT926 razr Hd Soon From GEB EBAY Can You confirm It working with Airtel
Hello guys!
I just found a really good-looking custom ROM that I want to try called Evolution HD Ultra, and it was built for the RAZR HD XT925 (GSM variant). You can see it in action in Youtube and I must say I'm impressed.
I have the Droid Razr HD XT926 (CDMA) variant, locked bootloader (with Safestrap), running 4.1.2, system 9.30. Is there any way to port this onto my device? Do I have to flash something else? I'm pretty new to all these technical android stuff, so please bear with me.
Thank you all in advance for your help!
