Major announcement: Pantech Burst ICS update will be available for download on Sept 27 on http://PantechUSA.com. Stay tuned for more details!
and shortly after we will have our ICS kernel released ready for someone to port to cm9/10! I think its time for us to get our own section or atleast have XDA create a Pantech section as more and more higher end but still budget phones are coming out
can't wait! just a few more days to go!

Pantech Burst ICS update battery issue
The ICS update appears to have a bug that drains the battery much faster. Anyone experiencing this? I have not upgraded my daughters phone because of this rumor.

battery doesn't drain faster. there is a bug that when rebooted (only after a reboot) the phone has an issue with wrong battery stats being reported. normal use it doesn't really change from when we were running GB

According to this post, it should work ok:

So you can try it, no guarantees. You can buy unclock codes for cheap on many websites if you need them.

Sorry if this is a dumb question. As i dont know how Roms come to be or how people port stuff from one phone to another etc.
But my question is, once Android 4.0 is released with the Prime. Will there be Android 4.0 Roms for the G2X. And if so... Will it take long?
If there wont be. I might have to switch to Verizon and get the Prime.

Yes, i'm sure once ICS source code is available our devs will port it over to our devices. With ICS being delayed probaly till end of November it's just a waiting game now...
I dont think it will take too long. I guess it depends how fast the devs get it and create one.
I had a Milestone 2 with a locked bootloader and it finally got Gingerbread but I think G2x is unlocked and easy to create.
Im sure it wont take no time to Cyanogenmod to stark working on ICS
I'm sure we'll get it. Thanks to guys like faux and the cm team, we already have an aosp base. I'm sure there will be drivers that need to be written/re-written, and bugs to work out, but we'll get it. Plus, I'd put money on the fact that once the source code for ics is released, the cm team will start integrating the newer version into cyanogenmod. We probably won't get it right away, and we definitely won't get it officially from lg or tmobile, but I'm sure we'll get it eventually.
Once CM8 is released, it should be released on the G2x along with other devices. I just hope we can disable the software Home & Menu keys.

They're not delaying ICS, or the Prime. I believe they're just delaying the unveiling, in respect of Steve Jobs.

Android 4.0 is suppose to be compatible with all android devices within 2 years old, and manufactures have agreements with Google that there should be official releases on all these devices. I highly doubt that will happen.
Also, the next Nexus device, by whatever name, won't be exclusively Verizon. It may for a period, but the FCC Documents show that it does in fact HAVE AT&T/Global AND T-Mobile 3G/4G bands, and no LTE.
Wait for official announcements on the phone, but I can guarantee the G2x will have 4.0 one way or another.
The agreement to update all devices for 18 months its for devices released post-ics. We're not eligible, though we will probably get CM8.

from what I hear MR. CM himself uses the g2x as his personal device so I think it will happen prety fast probally faster than others. I could be wrong about that I read it on a fourm when the g2x was still new. You never know how reliable those sources are.
I heard he got a job with Samsung. Though I speculate nVidia will release drivers since so many devices use the T2 soc
Not too worried since the g2x community has a lot of talented and smart developers already
I would expect an official upgrade as well though, seriously its a google experience phone, while not the top selling it has the specs and what not to get the upgrade.

so samsung announced the unveiling of the nexus prime: october 19. i was watching a video on huffington post and it was talking about different handsets being announced through different manufacturers and carriers, all running ICS. it really made it sound like ICS is going to be a selective update and that some phones may not be getting it.
what do you think the odds of the g2x getting this update are? i'm slightly annoyed that the prime is being released shortly after i bought my g2x. i figured we would have another droid bionic situation and be waiting months for the prime. i'm going to be even more annoyed if the g2x is another tmobile forgotten device.
thoughts?

I doubt we will get an update, but eventually we'll get a system dump of ICS & the devs here will make it better than what it is.
I have a feeling it's not going to get it. It's a great phone, but T-Mobile just doesn't seem to be pushing it very hard. There is a small chance that this phone will get ICS, but I wouldn't hold my breath. We'll most likely have to wait for the developers here to get their hands on it before we get it.
Well,i donr think we will get an update. But I'm okay . Miui have the apn fix now, so I'm happy with my g2x lolz
Sent from my LG-P999 using Tapatalk
LG will never update this phone ever again. Gingerbread was an absolute fiasco and they have washed their hands of the G2X. We'll probably get CM8 though, and just like with 7 devs will use that as a springboard to create all kinds of things.
CM8 is better than any update a carrier can provide us with.

Altough there is a ROM2.3 by CM, it still has many problems.I hope some talents can develop a better rom2.3 even it doesn't contain the 3D function. At least it should be work normally, less electric consume and more compatible.
3D is the main feature of this phone, I can't see any point no make a ROM without it.
I'm waiting for ICS ROM hope LG will be able to make it.

i think LG will let you disappointed. As i know , the newest phone LTE is going to sell,so there is no opportunity for 3D to update.Besides, LG has no tradition to update its old phone's system. So,what i hope depends on cyanogendom group.Of course,if LG changes its style as sony did, we will have a brilliant future.

Is there anything that doesn't work properly with your phone? If not, why do you want to sell it? Only because it's not getting ICS? Guy, you have the best 3D phone available, realize that! No other phone has a cool feature like that. Evo 3D has, but 3D function is of poor quality. So, think about it, it doesn't make sense to sell the coolest phone, you can get at this time.

that's the ICS port's name that cannot be spoken about here
it's like Sauron's ROM or something
I wont post a link to the page, but looking at Kmobs Google+, he posted a few pictures comparing his Sensation and Galaxy Nexus.
-In one picture he shows the 'about phone' screen on both phones. On Sensation, it looks like there is a color gradient, however its hard to tell. So MAYBE they have hardware acceleration working.
-Also if you read the 'mod version' it says CyanogenMod-9.0.0-RC0-Sensation-KANG. I'm a noob and Im not sure if the mod version will tell anything, but it says RC0 so maybe its Release Candidate status?
-One last thing I noticed is he has the same widget running when he compares homescreen, so he is kind or mirroring the two, but the Galaxy Nexus has the camera shortcut on the homescreen and Sensation does not. Not sure if that means its not working on Sensation, or if he just didnt put it there
Mods: if I posted anything I shouldnt have, please feel free to delete the post and contact me. Im familiar to the rules for the most part.

lol. should compare date released and prices for devices. the longer the date the device was released and the cheaper price it is, it should have many devs and support for it. as our devices is quite new (not that new lol) but its like a decisive thing for devs really, if they want to get the sensation and create ports there or just go to the newest device there is on the market. but needless to say, we have plenty of devs here. its just a matter of enjoying whats there and being patient. so, stay on and relax

We have a good collection of roms though, and we will be getting ICS regardless from HTC. I don't mind if devs jump ship.
Yeah, TripNiCE ROM is now Alpha 7.5, quite perfect and very stable.
It seems that we could have a stable release (or two if CM9/Kang release something too) till Christmas !
I remember how much trouble it was to get the LG Camera to work on gingerbread. Also, I read that the CM ICS Rom still doesn't the camera working yet on it nor does the one being developed by our fellow XDA members.
I am just being curious, is there something about LG hardware or perhaps Nvidia's tegra 2 that makes it difficult to get a fully functional camera working?

Nvidia will probably never release there drivers. Best we can hope for is when ICS hits out phones next year from LG. Then the drivers can be pulled out and be used in other roms.
