Ok guys.... So I've had my Captivate since launch date, and decided a couple of weeks ago to free it from its Master AT&T so now its a Free Android!!!!(Toby Who)!!! LOL
Ok so while I was doing that, for some zombie reason(possibly caused by "correcting" at 3am) I deleted my live wallpapers.odex or .apk whatever its called, and ob course now i can't put any live wallpapers up!!!
So if anyone could help me out I would be forever grateful.
I'm running: Android 2.2(Froyo), I897UCJI6, Froyo.UCJI6
Please HELP!!!!!!
Thanks in advance
Freeway
So what?
So what are you looking for? That File?
Yes I'm looking for some file that I can download onto my phone that will allow me to use the live wallpapers that I have installed onto it.
If you can't get it how you want you can always reflash.

@bradleyG : I could and if I do I'm probably going to go with the Andromeda guys. But I figured maybe someone out here in cyberspace knew another way before I did that. Plus since then I've been lazy when it comes to playing with my cappy. LOL
Thanks for the suggestion
So today I left my captivate in a Cab....and definitely will not be able to get it back I flashed a custom rom and forgot to reload Lookout Security or some service to track my phone, so no luck there...
Question: What should I do now. I definetly need to buy another smartphone, but the question is...which one? Should I wait for something like the Galaxy S2? (Could still be a ways from launch). I live in Canada and I am on Rogers. Should I just pick up another Captivate? Your thoughts/Suggestions.
PS: Does the bell Samsung Vibrant if unlocked work with 3g for rogers?
Wait for the HTC pyramide

Nice!
Sure I already have Lookout installed, but that's a cool little app.
'Though, I must admit, the idea of being able to push and execute apps remotely is a bit of a security concern.

Agreed, Plan B is definitely good to know about!

true that... I spend a lot of time in the Eastern Townships... (memphremagog)
Now, remember Plan B and use it the next time you lose the phone. It works. I didn't lose my phone, but I tried it out. GPS reception in my home is poor, so it showed the phone in the wrong room, but certainly in the correct house, close enough. It's not something you want to leave on your phone, because it sends a constant stream of text messages to your email with the location of the phone, but if you lose the phone, it will show you where it is, assuming any GPS signal can be received and it has network access.
haha, nice! if that happened to manila, goodluck! itll be sold to others right away

I bought my phone from wind and it came with froyo. the gps used to work but ever since i put on eaglesblood rom my gps doesnt work. ive tried lots of other roms and my gps still wont lock on me does anyone know do you fix this?
not sure how much of a difference tmobile and wind models have, but you can always do some searching 1st. Google is awesome, usually brings me back here to xda. theres alot of fixes, you just need to search 1st, Then use trial and error. find what works for your phone. That worked for me before i updated my baseband to July which then resulted in instant GPS locks. Try search 1st. did you run a nandroid backup to restore to?
Sorry I know is blasphemy to say this but I'm sort of a newb. My younger brother got me familiar with how to root my phone and stuff and I'm pretty sure I have a July baseband but everytime I search I don't really find an answer. So I thought I'd give it a shot and just ask
For a long time it took between 5 and 10 minutes for me to get a lock. I tried every remedy out there and nothing helped. This was with the Weapon Rom. Well one day I screwed up something in recovery and had to start from scratch. Literally I had to reload Clockworkmod and start with nothing.
Anyway, after reloading Weapon 3.0 I get locks within 5 to 30 seconds. Have no idea why. I don't think the Rom has changed. I am not using any of the hacks, tweaks, apps etc. Just happy it works now.
Thats so strange when you mention that cause before eaglesblood, weapon g2x was my favourite. its a really good rom but yeah I just checked my baseband on my phone and it says Jun 05 2011. I know hardware wise tmobile and wind g2x are the same, winds' just has no bloatware on it really. No t-mobile apps

Hi Everybody,
I currently have 2.3.5 stock (non-deoxeded) rooted rom.
I removed alot of the bloatware ( i can't remember which ) .
Now when i try to upgrade to 2.3.6 it starts very well and the progress bar goes to almost 1/3 of it's width then i get an exclamation icon and the device restarts normally and when the phone completely boots up it tells me update failed.
i know this can be fixed by restoring 2.3.5 fxz but i am afraid of doing so and also lazy so is there any easier way of doing this?
Thanks You in advance
Laziness is why America is turning the way it is.

You'll have to flash the fxz. This has been covered in several posts across quite a few threads. The search button really doesn't take much effort.

Lol.
Dude, just re-flash. Easy as pie.
Why not wait till on of our Dev's put this in a ROM?
Then your set.
If you do flash back to stock and then upgrade to the 2.3.6 don't forget to do forever root.

I don't understand why you have to keep the bloatware on the phone to update it anyway. I'm just taking a guess at this but you could probably contact motorola to see if there is away around it. I'm probably wrong though.

It is not Moto you need to go to, it is AT&T, it is their bloatware. The updater is performing checks, during the update, to see if the packages exist where they should, so that they can then be updated, it is a requirement since these are just patch files, and you can't apply a patch file to something that is not there, so the update script bombs out and will not continue.
AT&T and Motorola both assume if you made changes to your phone that you know what you are doing and that you "voided" your warranty and don't want the updates. If you call AT&T or Motorola, they will tell you too bad so sad, you modded your phone, you are now out of warranty.
I figured that was the case. These carriers love bloatware that most of the time will charge you a additional $10.00 a month to use its service.

Well Thanks for your funny comment but i am not American . i wish i was but i am not.
please do your self a favor and stop trying to be funny . you don't have a very slow internet connection that would that 6 hours to get the ~500MB FXz . also you are not busy to a degree that you only sleep 3 hours a day and you don't want to waste a single hour of your day . i am web developer by the way . what do you work?

That's exactly why they are doing it
Oh Finally i am on 2.3.6 update :
Here is what i did incase any one is in the same problem.
1) Restored the FXZ ( noobies guide here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1396650) be very patient will flashing and never touch your device until it boots to system and yes it will reboot a couple of times or maybe the screen will go off and on a couple of times ( don't get scared like me ) also the last step 20/20 takes a while and after this step don't unplug it still does some stuff
2) Rooted using 1-click root ( found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1327741 )
3) "VERY IMPORTANT" Used 4ever root method found here http://droidmodderx.com/bionic/maintain-root-through-any-update-bionic-with-forever-root/ ( Yes it works for us too ) Credits to Jim for letting us know about this.( post #5 here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1477656 )
4) Rebooted ( i don't know if it's essential but i didn't know how the 3 lines i added in the above step worked so i rebooted maybe they executed on boot)
5) Installed OTA update (Settings >> About >> System Updates )
6) Congratulations now you have the OTA 2.3.6 updates rooted device
Please use the THANKSbutton if this helped you
