Disable s pen button? - Galaxy Note 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

As the topic says, is it possible to disable the button on the s pen? Running stock rooted N8013.
Sent from my GT-N8013 using Tapatalk 2

Yes. I need to disable it, too.

Ya the button is a little annoying sometimes. Haven't been able to figure this one out...

+1 the button keeps messing my up in S Notes

+1 Always hitting it at the wrong time.

Does it even do anything in snotes aside from get in the way?

You can still use it to back out of a note, open the menu, screenshot or open a small note over your note lol

Haha yeah, I just wish they hadn't put it in a location so conducive to pressing

Would have been nice if it were another inch or so up the pen...

+1 - I would love to disable to button.. always screws up note taking...

+1 here for button disabling.

you could try laying a piece of plastic over the button and then sliding some heat shrink over the pen and the piece of plastic and heating it being careful not to get it too hot.

The best solution is just installing CM10. lol

Or just remove the damn button

I just did this. I removed the button and then cut and removed the little nub (on the underside of the plastic button) that presses against the button switch on the s pen. I then reinstalled the plastic button onto the s pen for aesthetics. Works like a charm! No more button problems!

Sky ICA cannot screen cap

I just flashed to sky ics yesterday and I everythings works fine except I cannot take a screen cap and I have tried both method, volume down with power and power with home button. Also I can't seem to have my home keys button vibrate.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank You

How exactly are you trying to take the screenshot?? Are you pressing power + home at the same time and holding?? I just tried it and it worked
And as far as the vibrating goes, is "vibrate on screen tap" checked under sound settings??

home+power . Timing is a little more critical than it should be AFAIK.. push power a split second before home and hold both for a second or so.

Thank You guys for that quick reply
The Vibrate thing was just me being stupid and could not turn it back on Thanks lilair and stoopendis, but yea i tried everything with the screen cap and still doesn't work, it used to work fine with just power button and home before i flash. My buddy who also flashed to sky ics and his screen cap worked fine too, he also has the same update.
Geez that's too bad. I gotta tell you though... it took me a while to get the sequence/timing down. I swore up and down it didn't work! But persistance paid off and I have my sc now although sometimes it takes a fee trys.

i know it isnt a fix but i used to use an app called "screenshot" from the app store..it allowed you to shake the phone to get a screenshot
Yea think I will just do Third party app or just flash to CNET just for fun lol

The easiest way to screencap on ICS is press home for a split second then hold power for roughly half a second while still pressing Home.

Button bindings

Does the Galaxy SIII (stock) have screen capture ability like the fassy and charge?? If so what are the button bindings, I remember home and back button together, but can't seem to get it to work.
Thanks to all that reply!

I think one is volume key and home (not sure). Easiest way when on a stock based ROM is to turn on the motion where you slide your hand from left to right across the screen to take a screen shot.
Sent from a strange blue box hurtling through time and space.
If your wanting a screen shot then it's the home + lock button. Hold them for like 3 seconds

Disable screenshot?

Is there a way to disable the screenshot option on the bottom toolbar?
I am so used to that spot being generally the extra settings or options button for most apps so as a result, i have a crapload of accidental screenshots that i always have to delete because i hit it accidentally.

There's an option in the settings for the quick button. Changes it to none and it goes away.
Here are the options.

any idea on how to disable the stylus screen cap. that button combo also switches brush/eraser in layerpaint and I'm always taking a screen cap at the wrong time.

You would have to open the phone up. Might as well buy a new power button first.

No. I know if I had it I could just place it there and push it but i'm wondering if there are any alternative ways to manipulate the flex cable or tricks to power it on without using it.

Apple uses the same type of buttons on the iphone 4, 4s, 5 and ipod touch 4th gen. I have fixed quite a few power buttons on the 4 and 4s. You may be able to get a home button flex cable for an ipod 4g and use the tape and button from it. It may be worth a try.
Have you tried pushing a needle or paperclip?

Ha, I only thought of it because I messed up my power button when I put my phone back together after replacing the screen, and plugging it in woke it up so I could at least see that the screen worked.

It's incredible!

Best thing to happen since I was born, the S pen works with the touch buttons!

I agree.... It was one of the annoyances of the note2 that made me sell it. Come back to the note 3 and the spen activating the buttons is great.

On the flip side, I really miss the ^ & < menu & back gestures from the Note II, hate having to reach down to the buttons. Wish they'd included both.
