I am constantly using the Windows 7 snipping tool, is there anything similar for our GNote? I use the lecture notes app for note taking, so I would like either of these two options:
1) Be able to take snip like screenshots and paste them into Lecture Notes
or
2) Be able to take snip like screenshots and save them, then use import image on Lecture Notes.
Currently I have to take a full screen capture, crop it with PhotoShop, then save it to an image, then import the image, and it takes way too much time.
Any suggestions would be great, Thanks!

I would also like a snipping tool that you can load as an app which as far as I know does not exist for android yet.
As a workaround and to avoid photo shop for editing, what you can do is, take your screen capture as normal but long press when you take the screen capture either using the S-pen or the dedicated screen capture button on the note, the key is to long press.
If you do this, a small editing tool will load and you will be able to crop the picture or area that you want to capture using the rectangle tool or if you long press on the rectangle tool, you will have the option for the lasso tool which you can use freehand to draw around the area you want to capture. You can also mark the area using pen tools if needed.
This tool only appears when you take a screen shot but cannot be loaded as an app.
Edit: the image that is edited is automatically stored in the clipboard and can be recalled if you use the Samsung keyboard, just click the clipboard button as shown by the red arrow on the screenshot below, it also demonstrates the output of what I have explained above, I have only taken a snippet of the screen and used the rectangular crop tool to achieve this.
That actually worked pretty well.

I have the JB leak on mine and it lets me use the side button of the pen for a lasso tool anywhere. I know it may not help you yet but it looks to be what you need when the big update drops.

Thanks for info, looks like the jelly bean update is going to be a really worthwhile update, can't wait for it. I have seen the detailed video on this forum and am also looking forward to the video capturing that you can do of the tablet, will be excellent for doing quick how to' s and reviews.
Thanks!
Thanks everyone! I will give it a shot tonight! This will really help my productivity.
Thanks again!

Is there any similar solution for Xperia Z2?

A while ago, I sent an email to the developer of the 'JustPictures!' app on the market, about implementing the one-touch zoom method from SE. It is used for photo viewing and streaming (e.g. from Flickr, Picasa etc).
Now he has finally done it - try it out!
http://www.androlib.com/android.application.com-justpictures-qBFD.aspx
(It's free, just use the QR Code on androlib, or search for it on the market.)
It works well for me!

Gotta say cool app.. thanx alot.. helps alot considering I got rid of mediascape lolz

With Meridian replacing the audio player, RockPlayer replacing video player(beta now, won`t be free i assume) and this app for images, there is no need for Mediascape anymore.
Even so, this app needs improvments:
1. why do i have to double tap the image before using the zooming function
2. where is the delete function?
3. together with exclude folders it might be nice to have an option to exclude everything and include only a few folders.
4. provide a progress bar or some kind of counter to know how many thumbnails were generated and how many are left.
..
and probably more.
it does not show full screen pictures
haptic feedback would be good too - I recall SE demo giving a little vibrate on the long press to let you know that it was ready to zoom in/out.. and the zoom in only seems to go so far.. then when you zoom beyond that it bounces back out to a lower zoom level..
Don't get me wrong though.. it's a great app.. a few tweaks as suggested in this thread and it would be my preferred photo viewer.
looks good, but setting a picture as wallpaper goes horribly wrong.
It just shows a small picture in the middle of your screen, but most of your screen is black...It resizes your photo's to real small images unfortunately...
Cheers,
Arnold
yeh the zoom is a great improvement over the original zoom buttons but you cant pan around while your zooming that's the only issue I have
One of my favorite app as I have plenty of pictures on smugmug and flickr. This app seems to get updates almost every week or even more frequently which is good .
Awsome App
nice !!
Noticed a lot of new software being released for the note as part of the Galaxy note challenge... galaxynotespenchallenge.com
My favourite so far is Papyrus, the notes are vectors, so you can copy and paste or move them. Still in beta, I'm thinking this has a lot of potential.

Thanks, I think this is much better than S-memo.
Thanks.
That is cool how you can use your finger to delete.
I like the organisation of the notes too, with multiple pages per note.
Although I haven't used it, I think Freenote has a better system for actually entering in and editing your handwriting. Whilst you're writing word, it lets you undo each stroke, similar to Papyrus, but once you finish a word, each word is saved as on object in the note and then you can select individual words and edit them. I think this would make going back and correcting spelling mistakes, poor penmanship etc. a lot easier. Plus I like the way you can highlight text in Freenote.
I think if Papyrus can get some good functions for S Pen button, that would be cool too.
Awesome... Got it installed now. It's pretty smooth, and I'm glad to see that the sheet size is essentially unlimited.
Anybody have any idea where the note files are stored? I can find the PDF file if I've tried to export the note, but can't find any sign of it before attempting to export.
I am on Criselkos ICS ROm and my pen is not recognized by Papyrus. Anyone else having this issue?
great app
Thanks, this is a great app !
I particularly like the fact that everything you write becomes a vector. I understand this is only a beta but here are a few suggestions that could possibly be implemented in a final version :
- if writing (or drawing) becomes a vector image, why not add tools that allow you to change size / orientation ?
- i noticed you can not (unless i missed something) copy/cut a part of a note to paste it on the next (or any other) page. This is quite frustrating if you've started taking a note and finally decided you'd rather have it on the next page.
I personally set my page size setting to A4 as a standard. That way when i export my files (via dropbox or directly send them through email) they appear in a "normal" size for computer users (including me for filing or archives...).
The feel of the writing is very smooth, sensitive and overall enjoyable. Keep up the good work !
Can someone please post the apk? Notes running AOSP ICS are marked incompatible on the market

I have installed it, but the s-pen does not function whilst using the app.
There is a setting that says "enable active pen" but it is greyed out, saying "this device is not active pen enabled"
Thanks!
I can't select "active pen" in settings.
ICS Stunner.26
But the pen does work!! although a bit slow.
I'm not able to download this app from the Play Store. I'm on Stunner. I think it's because Neobuddy uses Nexus framework right now and it isn't compatible with it supposedly.

really a good app...the function i like the most is the ability to detect s-pen and the touch from the hand while writing is the best...Samsung should consider including in the S-note

Definitely still to slow but has some potential, I'm still very partial to lecture notes (ICS only), the pace that that guy update the app with tweaks is crazy, if anything he has too many settings, but the advantage is you can tailor the note taking to your style.
When you take a screenshot, you're taken to a little app that allows you to annotate and share/save/discard your screenshot. Pretty handy.
What is this app, and how can I access it without taking a screenshot? For example, I'd like to be able to launch it from the gallery to mark up a photo, but the only option seems to be PS touch (which has terrible palm rejection), or Skitch (ditto).
Clearly the app exists... so why can't I use it whenever I want?

It's wierd the way screenshots are managed. If you take a screenshot using the soft key it goes directly to the gallery and skips the editing tool you're describing. Choosing edit from the menu in the gallery sends it to PS. If you take a screenshot with the pen the sceenshot appears along with the annotation and editing tools. But that's your only chance to edit it without having to send it to another app. Why it works that way is a good question.

I have discovered that if you long press on the soft key, it also goes to the editing tool.
Also not ideal but is a workaround due to us not being able to bring up the editing app at will; what you can do is take a screen shot of the picture that you want to annotate and then carry out any necessary edits you wish to do on the picture . The original picture can then be deleted if it is not required.
Did nother know that one. Thanks.

wow I also so wish this could be implemented.
Does anyone know of a good app in the store that could also do this? a simple clean app with annotation features that could be opened from gallery.
hopefully one of those awesome dev guys finds a way of extracting it somehow.
So found a new app, which is very good looking and almost perfect.

I have a follow-up question here. I am new to Note 10.1, and my device is on JellyBean 4.1.2, the latest USA OTA update, WiFi-only.
My problem is that after taking a screenshot with S Pen and annotating it, there is NO direct "Share" button on the screen. The only option seems to be Cancel or Done at the upper-right corner, with Done saves to folder in the Gallery, so I have to again go into Gallery again and share from there in order to shared the annotated screenshot.
I saw a video taken on Note II phone that there is a Share button at the bottom of the annotation screen, and press it would save the editing and bring up the normal share list of application.
Am I missing something here?
thanks,
I just got my note 10.1 and upgraded to JB. I'm loving it so far. But I have a couple questions.
1. for my work I really love grabbing a piece of a PDF and driving it over to s note. Is there some way to default to a square crop rather than the lasso? It would look better. Currently I have to save a screenshot and crop that.
2. a lot of the documentation for the note 2 says to hold the back button to pick apps for multi screen. Holding the back button does nothing on the note 10.1. Is that correct?
3. when you use multi screen apps, is there some way to have them automatically go side by side? Mine always appear in a small window and I have to stretch them out to the right size manually. Is that just the only way it works?
I already read the note 2 documentation. Is there some other place I can look for a better explanation of how to use all the features? Thanks for the help.
I don't know about the first two (holding the back button does nothing for me) but if you want them side by side select dual view in the multiwindow app selector and they'll spear like that automatically

hi
im using samsung galaxy note 4.
i know i can take a scrolling screenshot of things with the note 4.
dont know if i can do what i want with the included apps.
im searching for an app that can let me stitch pictures together. For example if i take a scrolling screenshot, i would like to be able to add more picture/screenshot on it later on. Also i would like the app to have a delete funktion, for example if i take a scrolling screenshot of a chat conversation, i would like to be able to delete some parts from that screenshot. Would also be a plus if you can write and mark things on the app.
Is there such a app available ? i have tried to find one but did not success.
