I'm hearing conflicting reports about this. Is the TF201 Dock compatible with the Infinity or not? I currently have mine docked to the infinity and it seems to work just fine. At first, when i docked my Infinity to it, it didn't lock automatically when i inserted it like it did when docked to the TF201. Now I have to manually slide the lock button over to the lock position but it does lock. My concern is I'm seeing some people posting that it is NOT completely compatible so I'm worried that it might put pressure on the infinity or something? Thoughts? Is it compatible or not?

I am using my Prime dock and it fits like a glove. It locks automatically and always has. I have had no need to mess with the lock button.

Good. Again, mine seems to work just fine. I just got concerned when hearing some conflicting reports that it wasn't completely compatible and I had noticed mine wasn't as smooth (in terms of locking) as before. I guess I was hoping to get reassured.

I upgraded from the Prime to Infinity and am noticing that it does not fit into the 201 dock as smoothly. It definitely feels a lot tighter, and doesn't always lock automatically as well. So far no problems though.
I use the TF201 dock as well (as it was bundled by ASUS itself) -- no issues whatsoever, locking automatically, etc. I could worry about a lot of things on the 700, but the dock is not one of 'em.
I have gotten two "TF700T" docks, on the box it looks as if they just put a new build sticker over the old one, but if you flip the dock upside down it clearly says TF201 Dock, so dont waste your money and buy a "TF700T" Dock

I've also been using the 201 dock for the Infinity since I got it, and haven't had any trouble with it fitting and locking into place. Everything seems to work just fine.

No issue here either. The TF700 fits perfectly into the my 201 dock and snaps into the dock easily.
I replaced my TF201 with a TF700 and I'm using the same dock for the 700 that I used for the 201. The 700 is definitely a little more snug and I have push a bit harder for the lock to finally stap all the way over but it works just fine.
The one disapointment I have is that when I close the tablet against the dock, I don't think the screen shuts off or perhaps some of the buttons the dock remain active. When I open it back up, there will be apps open that weren't open with it was closed and occasionally settings changed or features turned on or off. A couple of times a 'developer option' feature was activated and I thought my tablet was messed up until I realized it was developer feature I wasn't familiar with. NONE of this happened with my old TF201.
And yeah, I heard there was not difference in the 201 dock vs the 700 dock so I never bothered changing them out.
I've been using my TF201 dock since the day Best Buy exchanged my TF201 for my TF700. To date, the only differences I have noticed, that are very minor, was that initially the dock did not "lock" in correctly. After the first several days though, giving it time to expand or whatever it did, the dock now locks in perfectly fine as soon as I push the tablet into it.
Charging, works perfectly. Latching, works perfectly.
The one thing I did notice recently, is that with the new firmware update to the TF700, my dock also updated itself to DOCK-EC20N-0207. This occurred during the TF700 firmware update for the GPS, Camera, and whatever else they did.
i got the TF201 dock 2 days ago for $75 brand new at staples.
here is how i did it
bought an ebay staple coupon $25 off $75
staples has the dock for $128
bought it using the coupon which knock it down to $103
Did live chat and pricematch it to office depot which in the website it shows $99.99
They credit me $28 dollars back.
I have a TF700T and before that a TF201 with dock keyboard. The first thing I did after activating my TF700T was to connect the TF201 dock keyboard to it. No issues at all. It went through a dock keyboard upgrade from 206 to 207. I use my tablet with the dock keyboard so much during each day that I have gotten an additional TF201 dock keyboard and keep it connected to AC so its fully charged all of the time. I swap out the dock keyboards when ever the battery level gets below 20& on the dock. Both dock keyboards were updated for the .30 latest upgrade. With my tablet always at 95-100% I can take remove the dock keyboard at any time and have the full 9-10 hours of use for the tablet alone. I have to say that Asus has done a great job with this combination. The only thing they could have done better was to be up front with the knowledge that the TF201's dock keyboard will work with no issues with the new TF700, but thats just my opinion.

I get the same thing. The weather widget's settings will open, Skype may sometimes open, I've had angry birds open - they're actually registering as either clicks or screenpresses on things on the top half of the screen. I don't know if there's a difference between plugged in or not plugged in.
My TF700 dock (bought from Amazon UK) has a TF201 label on the bottom near the hinge. It has some Chinese symbols and "Eee Pad TF201 Mobile Docking, input +15V -... 1.2A 18W Made in China.
It came as a bundle in a box shrinkwrapped from the only official distributor here.
I'm kinda wondering: Is the resolution the only difference between what I have and what was released a year ago??
I put a Skinomi screen protector on my Infinity today. It does still go into the dock okay but I do now have to slide the lock button over part of the way manually. Do any of you that were complaining of this with an old TF201 dock have a screen protector or screen lift at the bottom (i.e. something that increases the width of the tablet at the bottom)?

my question: when I found this forum, I also found a discussion (Prime 201 model) on cracked screens - that seemed to be a common problem -- only with people who used docking stations --- close it and go to bed - get up in the morning to a cracked screen. There was much speculation on what caused it -- but no one really knows.
Are any of you storing your tf700 docked ? I spent a good dollar to get this (Cdn Tiger Direct charges more than US ) and the last thing I want is a cracked screen so for now, I am storing it undocked. I will watch this forum for a while for problems before I take the risk.
My 700 is fine ---- the odd freeze up --- but no real issues and the build is great....... I would like to keep it that way !!!

I am storing my TF700 docked and closed. One time I had set the screen to not time out and forgot to turn it off when I closed it, the brightness was turned up to max and it took 4 hours until I noticed it and the pad was very hot but no issues has occured with the screen or the pad i general after that.
If the screen cracks by itself without my help I will prompt to get it replaced, for free of course.

I always keep mine docked, and closed; however, I did notice that my screen cracked yesterday :'(
To me, it seems the problem is that the little support pads on the keyboard only support the top middle, and the sides of the screen when the device is closed. The problem is that the rest of the screen is not supported and any 'squeezing', even simply closing the device, causes a flex in the glass where it is unsupported. Go look at the device when closed and you can clearly see the flex (or cracked glass in my case).
I'm going to try to return it to Best Buy this afternoon :S

Is it just me or does this Gorilla Glass 2 seem to be *much* weaker than the original Gorilla Glass?? I've been reading about way too many cracked screens with both the TF700 and the Nexus 7....

I may be wrong, but didn't the Prime (201) have the original Gorilla glass though ? that is where I first read about cracked screens ---- some people were putting little 'bumpers' if you will on the top/back of the keyboard to reduce flex/pressure when they closed it --- thinking being that the 3 little rubber bumpers (sides and front of keyboard ) aren't enough . we also own the first transformer ( 101 ? ) heavy, but rugged -- not worried about it cracking.

Alot of people have been receiving tf201 docks. You can send it back and request a dock specific to the tf700 or use the one they sent. The 201 dock does work with the tf700. If you paid full price though then i would ask for a prorate of the tf201 dock.

Internally they are identical, software sees all docks as 201, however! The 700 dock should snugly and correctly fit the infinity. If the hinge part is rounded and doesnt seem to fit the infinity properly then the dock is a prime dock and i'd ask for a dock specifically made for the infinity. Anyone can pop a sticker on there, and reguardless it will work just fine. My only concern is that the screen may break because of excess pressure because the hinge doesnt fit just right. YMMV

My TF201 dock fits perfectly to my TF700 tablet.
And yes - it is a TF201 dock, as I got it when I bought my TF201 Prime and kept it when I upgraded to TF700...
I had a TF201 tablet for which I bought a keyboard dock back in the day. When I purchased my current tablet the TF700T the first thing I did after charging the tablet up, turning it on and letting it find my home network and update my Google stuff is to shut it down. Then I placed it into my TF201's dock keyboard that was fully charged. The tablet turned on by itself and did an update to my dock keyboard from revision 206 to 207. When the update was completed it finished booting and recognized it was docked and all was good. My dock keyboard fits perfectly with my TF700T tablet in the hinge area and also the locking assembly has a solid click sound during the insertion as well as the locking slide locking solidly to the tablet by sliding all of the way to the right in the slide slot.
When I bought mine the box clearly had a TF700 ticket over top what said something else. When I opened it up the sticker on the bottom of the dock clearly states TF201. That said, it fits just fine. I don't see a reason to make it an issue, I got a decent discount at Best Buy on it anyway, just for asking.

Just ordered a champagne dock for the 201, it says its compatible with the TF700 from Tigerdirect.com for $110.00 plus shipping.... Ill find out if they ship 201 docks that perfect fit with the infinity.

Can you elaborate on "not fitting correctly"? I have a tf201 dock and the lock snaps correctly into place after you insert the pad in the dock. It does take a small ammount of force to do so. It's not much but it isn't just drop in and play either.

The edges on the tf201 and tf700 have a different profile so the hinge on the tf201 dock does not follow the contour perfectly. For some it doesn't seem to be an issue but others it is. As for me I bought a tf201 dock for my tf700 and the tablet will NOT lock into the dock. It's annoying but I've dealt with it since the release but I have a feeling I will eventually have a mishap and it will fall out.

Just received my TF201 dock from tigerdirect.com and it locks into place much like the prime. I tested both the infinity and the prime and takes the same amount of pressure to lock into place. It the dock was already updated to 207. Im happy with it and didnt pay an extra 50 dollars for a sticker.

If you check the engadget review then it says that the TF201 (prime) dock will fit the infinity, but not only will it fit, the prime dock has a larger battery (22Wh vs 19Wh for the infinity). If there's a marginal difference between the edges then I'd gladly sacrifice that for ~16% battery life increase.
Someone did a teardown of both docks and they had the exact same battery...

22Wh is still more than 19Wh
22Wh means it'll last for 22 hours if something has a powerconsumption og 1 Watt per hour. If the infinity uses more power than the prime it will still get more out of a 22Wh battery than from a 19Wh battery.
After all, the battery time can be described with the following statement:
battery life = Watt hours / power consumption
Though, if someone broke down both dockings and found the same battery then the information from engadget is false, and I won't argue with that.
Correct - the batteries between the two docks are exactly the same - CraftyHack even posted pictures to prove it...

I just returned my prime to visions today and they ordered me an infinity + infinity dock... I got my keyboard from a diff store and haven't returned that yet. so I shouldn't return it and just get my money back when the keyboard gets here!?!?!
I paid 130 or so for the prime dock from bestbuy and it'd only be $20 that I'm missing out on now cause I paid $150 for the infinity dock

It is the same. After spending a few hours looking it up myself. I have found numerous places that will confirm that the 201 was repackaged and sold as TF700 compatible. I just bought my tablet and dock today. Got lucky with the price, got the 149.99$ dock for 99$

My TF201 AG dock is not exactly the same colour... it is very close in colour to my TF700, but it isn't the same. The only way you would notice (for mine anyway) is if you took them apart, lied them on a table in a well lit room, and closely examined. In this case you would notice, otherwise, I think many would argue they are the same colour.
That said, apart from the colour, the dock works perfect and I have had no issues with it.
Note my TF201 and TF201 dock were identical in colour.

No, the innards are probably almost identical, but the docking part itself is shaped differently. The dock that is supposed to be TF7000 fits the TF700 tablet exactly, locks perfectly (snaps closed) and is the exact same color. I think its battery is a bit smaller and located more to the front of the keyboard for a better balance with the tablet open. That's the one I have. The Prime dock still works but is slightly different in color and fit.

I picked up a TF201 **** off Amazon for $120 and it fits pretty darn good and the lock does snap closed. And the battery is a bit bigger on the TF201. Why would you pay more for a dock with a smaller battery.
The battery is *not* bigger in the TF201 dock - again, someone took both completely apart and the batteries are the same...
I do wonder if the docking part is slightly different though since some folks with the TF201 dock found that it does not lock automatically...
Or, the docking part may be the same too - I don't know for sure.

If you are asking me, I heard that the TF700 dock battery has slightly lower capacity. I read it in a review. Since it has to fit into a smaller space in order to improve the balance, they made it a bit smaller.

when I 1st made the switch to infinity I had read the specs of the battery as slightly different but now looking it seems this has been further explored.... my bad. although there was a difference in price at one time, are they the same now?

I bet the TF700 dock has the appropriate hinge on it to match the contour of the tablet. The TF201 dock clearly does not have the right shape to it. I bought a TF201 dock from best buy and my TF700 will not lock into the dock.

Exactly...that's all I was trying to say.
Long story short, I bought the Transformer Prime and dock in late June. About a month later I traded the tablet for the Infinity and kept the dock since I read many people stating that it was compatible. First thing I noticed with the Infinity is that it required more force to dock the tablet into the keyboard. I had to push down and slide the lock tab to the right to actually lock the tablet. About a couple weeks ago I noticed that with the tablet docked and the lock tab pushed all the way to the right, I could easily slide the tablet upwards and remove it from the dock without sliding the lock tab to the left first. What this means is that the tablet could easily become undocked, causing it to fall easily if held improperly. The locking mechanism seems to work properly, but I'm not sure if the locking pins have become worn or if the part that the pins connect to inside the tablet have rounded off or something. Has anyone else experienced this problem yet, and if so, what are the possible solutions to fix this? If it's a problem with the dock, I'll probably just end up buying the newer dock ASUS released recently that's stated to be compatible with the Infinity. I've also thought about taking my tablet to Best Buy and seeing if it will dock securely with one of their docks to see if I can rule out the dock. If it's a problem with the tablet itself, I guess I'm SOL. Right now I'm staring at bits of a torn up paper towel, contemplating shoving them into the holes to see if it will temporarily fix the problem, lol.

I'm guessing you have the same problem as me. There are plastic hooks that are on the dock latch and they broke off on mine. I just figured the problem out last week. I'm going to try to send it back soon for warranty.

Yikes. I had this experience too. Mine is still secure though. I hope that doesn't change.

Just wondering, is the dock still covered under warranty if your bootloader is unlocked? I'd like to send my dock to Asus if I find out the latches on it are broken.

I have your exact problem! There is nothing wrong with the locking pins on mine. They're metal and are designed not to be damaged if the tablet is inserted in the locked position. The issue is the locking pins do not line up with the small piece of metal in the locking grooves/holes on the tablet. I can see tiny abrasion marks a few millimetres in front of where they should be at the bottom of my tablet showing that they simply are not lining up.
The issue is with the dock. This should be covered on warranty.
R.e. trying to buy another one - I would warn you that consensus appears to be that the TF700 dock is structurally identical in every way to the TF201 dock. The only difference is the finishing colour which is slightly different and the cost of the TF700 dock which ASUS kindly increased.
My unit came together with a 'TF700' dock and the colours match. And like you it was a very tight fit to start with. I didn't notice the latch problem until last week though (because I actually never tried to remove the tablet with the lock mechanism ON before!).

How did you get on with the warranty repair?
I have opened up a POLL on transformer forums to see how many users have experienced the docking pins in the tablet either rounding off or snapping off completely.
I'd really appreciate if any of you see this message would go there and make a report to have your voice counted.

I've been in contact with ASUS Support in the Netherlands -- they claim it is user-induced damage. I have written a slightly spikier mail, but will have to weigh my legal option if they remain on their stance. A device this expensive should have better build quality.

Did you try ASUS warranty? There is a poll here
... trying to get ASUS to recognise this is a design flaw and not customer induced damage
because
a) The docking tabs in the tablet are PLASTIC
b) There seems to be a tendency for left or right side of tablet to 'catch' in the dock as you remove it and if this occurs just before you release the locking tab---- crack! Locking tab should have hold fast LOCK and UNLOCK positions instead of being spring loaded

What are people's experience with this? Is Asus telling they won't cover it before you even send it in? Are they giving any estimates for what it costs to repair? Pretty crappy that they make a small structural item out of plastic and then say "screw you".

Yes, this is the oen issue that made me put ASUS on my blacklist of ****ty companies -- they put it on "user-induced damage", unseen, and if you send it in, they'll take the 125 Euros anyway, even if they only take a crap and wipe their ***es with the RMA form. I'm happy with the tablet as it nw runs, but NONE of that happiness has to do with AUSS' screwy behavior, poor hardware design decisions and even worse customer support.
I was looking for a Win8 tablet for the family, but the only viable option for now is the HP Envy v2 -- as I said, I will never buy ASUS again. And I have never boycotted anything in my life, be it digital or physical, so that says something. :S

I checked Ebay and didn't see any parts for that dock listed, nor did I see any broken ones that could be used for parts. Asus has a 1yr warranty on these. If that is expired, then your only options would be to either live with it or get a new one.

Mine started out just like you describe and now has completely broken. My solution was to buy a Logitech bluetooth keyboard and pitch the 201. Love it and haven't looked back.

The dock clips are garbage - made from plastic and bound to break sooner or later. Mine have been bust for 2 months or so, but it doesn't really bother me. Everything works and the case keeps everything together.
