Short cut to app drawer. (long press) - Asus Transformer TF700

I would love to be able to long press the home button to be able to go right to the app drawer. Is there a way to do this? Or maybe just have one of the dock keyboard short cut keys do this?
Maybe this feature will be something that I will find on a custom rom.

[REQ] app that assigns the home button to something else?

Press the home button it takes you back to the home screen. Press it again it takes you the the preview of all 7 screens at once. I don't know if theres an app for it but I would like to be able to assign the home button to something else such as app drawer, music player or camera... instead of previewing all 7 screens at once.
anybody? no?
I don't think to many people would care for this, not to say there aren't some that do. Home being home just seems more functional IMO. I don't really see the need for it to be linked to something else when there screen is right there with a widget/shortcut.
But to each their own, hopefully someone can whip this up for you =], or you can take the adventurous route and try your hand at it.
I myself would like to reassign the search button as a dedicated camera button.
use adw and you can change the home button to show/hide status bar
+1 on that as well

Add options to power button menu or double press hardware keys

I don't see a physical camera button on my captivate. i was wondering if i can add the option to the power button menu to open the camera. If not, is there an app or way to hold down a volume button or click a certain amount of times to get it to open the camera?
reason i ask is because I have a 19 month daughter and would need to open camera asap to take pictures as they happen.
if this have been covered sorry... ideally i would love to add the option and few more to that power button menu..
thanks
I'd like to see the capability to program all of them for click, double click, triple click, and long press. There is an app for htat for WinMO.
I have a very nice app that adds a lot of that type of functionality, Tasker, but that is not one of them.
I'm going to suggest it. What we may hear is that Android won't allow it. Seems I have bumped my head into that response two or three times, with comment that Android considers it a security issue.
Yes this is what i am looking for. Such as the search button. Replace that with a short cut button to open camera. I wish devs are seeing this. This will be an awesome mod.
arrrghh...
power strip o power control, takes over the search long hold action to come up with widgets and things... So i think the mapping is there.

Just move the camera icon to one of the bottom 4 location. Since you have to unlock the phone before you can start the camera anyway, using the hardware button or clicking the screen make very little different.
You can try using the Widget Locker app. With it I placed the camera shortcut on my lockscreen. Much faster access but not exactly what you are looking for.

I second widget locker. Use it with pure messenger and pure calendar to make the lock screen useful.

How to change some buttons on homescreen?

Hi guys!
I've got a question about making the homescreen your own.
I'm talking about the call and browser button next to the menu button.
Is there a way to change these two into other buttons?
Cause I use the opera mini browser instead of the usual browser.
Thnx!

You should get a pop-up message when pressing the browser button on the Gingerbread homescreen asking which browser to use (if you have more than one installed).

Dude, that wasnt the question
OT: I don't think it's possible, I havent found a way
You can change your homescreen icons, but you need a home screen replacement app.
Something like Go Launcher or ADW Launcher. Both are amazing home screen replacements that let you modify and change your home screen to your liking.
Either of those apps will allow you to change the bottom buttons.
Actually, if i'm not mistaken, even with the stock home screen, you should be able to long press the icons in the bottom bar and drag them off the menu bar. You can replace them with whatever app you want by doing the same - long press and drag into the space for the menu.

[Q][P3100][Jelly bean] soft buttons

Hi all, I've just flashed JB.
I've seen some things I didn't expect (probably they depend on the phablet interface) which I don't like so much.
1 - long press the home button doesn't open mini task manager anymore
2 - the useful customizable soft button (you could use it to take screenshots, access the drawer and so on) has gone
3 - long press the recent apps soft button doesn't open the drawer anymore
Any ideas? Is JB really better than ICS?
Thanks
Try going into your settings, and look for system launcher i think... I don't remember what it is called. But in the settings, under the device section, it should be there i think. If you do find it, look for system options and softtouch keys. There you can set your own buttons and have what they do if you hold it. Sorry for bad instructions. I don't have a device to see where its located at.
IMO, Jelly Bean is better than ICS. Because Jelly Bean has project butter, making everything so smooth and clean.
I tried to look everywhere, but there's nothing about soft keys.
Thanks anyway.

Anyone found a solution? Maybe some app?
I really miss the mini task manager of the home button (now it opens Google Now, which I really don't care about).

the task manager soft button is not a big deal. you can get it from the Quick Launch (far right arrow)
Maybe someone knows how to edit homescreens now? There's no menu button on the homescreen

If I want to delete a homescreen, what should I do?
Pinch screen and then you can delete unneeded

Yes, I know, but with ICS it was easier (1 tap less). I could use the quick launch anyway.
Same thing for the drawer, I could keep pressed the recent activities button to acces it directly; now (when I'm not in a homescreen) I have to press the home button and, then, the app button in the dock.
Usually I suppose that a more recent OS release has some improvement, not a drawback.

Menu App or button changes?

Looking to see if there is any ability to get the right capacitive key to do anything other than switch/clear open apps? I sure do miss being able to hit the right key on my old phone and it would typically bring up menu options for whatever app you happened to be in and also a shortcut into your settings when on one of the home screens. What a PITA having to go up to the top right side of each app, hit the 3 little menu dots and change menu options that way.
Anybody figure any work-arounds or other 3rd party apps that can help out with this?
It would be nice if Alcatel would allow the right capacitive key to access the settings or menu of an app with a long hold of the button. Short hold of the button accesses the open apps. That would be intuitive. My old phone was the opposite, a short tap would open a backdoor to menu options and a long hold would open the active apps for dismissal or switch.
Very much an extra effort reaching up to the right when in Chrome to have to go to your bookmarks...that's just one example.
Any 3rd party launchers include something of this ability?
Also a PITA having to reach allllllll the way up to the top of the phone to pull down the notification panel. My old phone with KK 4.4.4 all you had to do was slide down anywhere on the home screen and the notification panel would come down. Vice versa, sliding up on a home screen would open the backdoor to your settings menu.
These are my two biggest *****es 24 hours into having this phone. Everything else I've tried so far seems pretty good.
I can propose solutions to two of your problems ..
(a) For bookmarks, could a bookmark widget help ? I believe Chrome has its own , but you could also use the stock widget and have it open any browser. Of course this only works in you are not already inside the browser. You can also try a browser with gestures. I think dolphin can do that.
(b) For the notification shade, you can use a launcher than offers a swipe down gesture. I use Apex which has gestures for free, and I have swipe down set for the notification shade.
Cool, thanks! Hopefully Alcatel is taking notes for future updates?
Did your phone have a custom room or Launcher? Those are not standard gestures for kit kat or stick Launcher.
