What samsung reccomend for charging time ? How long exactly ...
Sent from my GT-N8013 using Tapatalk 2

3 hours, 15 minutes and 42 seconds every 3rd Tuesday, but only leap years.
Charge it when you get to 15% and just use it. When it is charged it will let you know - disconnect. Done.

With original charger from 5% to 100% approx. 5 hrs with screen off but Sync fully on .....

Im asking about manufacturer recommended duration for best battery life. And im also asking because its best to break the battery in proper by only charging for the recommended duration.
Thanks though
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk 2

Nope. You won´t find any guidelines by the manuf since You are supposed to only use original chargers which guarantee an optimum charging procedure and a shut off of charging once batt is fully charged provided GNote is switched off or trickle charge when it is on to keep batt full.

The Note (along with every other smartphone or tablet released in the past 4-5 years) has a built in smart battery charger that handles automatic charge cutoff.
Manufacturer recommended charge time is a concept from the age of dumb time-based NiCd chargers, which haven't been sold anywhere for years.

Really because acer recommends 4 hours for the a500 only a year old device. Which i asked because i asummed other companys had similar recommendations.
So it has to be off for auto shut off ?

Does not have to be off. Just charge it as you please. Try not to discharge it below 15% for best battery life.

How long does your nexus s battery take to charge?

crappy charger. someone asked this a day or so ago here. on phone so cant give you a link. try a search (not being a ****)
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using XDA App
I donno...between 3 and 3.5 hours roughly. Pretty fast.
I'm using stock charger that came with phone.
No light indicator to indicate charging or fully charged? I've been charging via USB and it gets to 94%, so fully charged and stops charging. That's as high as it will get...
About to go work out, going to put it on wall charger and see what happens!!
Anyone else have this problem or just me because of the usb charge?
Mine only goes upto 94% br well with the wall charger.
Apparently It's a safety feature
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
Mine goes to 96% typically and I've once seen it reach 97%, it's a bug, not a safety feature. As a safety feature, to prevent it from overcharging, it's supposed to charge up to 100% then stop charging until it reaches a safety level such as 95% then resume charging again. This is just a bug in the system.
Takes me just over 3 1/2 hours from dead to fully charged.
Mine goes up to 98%. Once in a while it will go up to 99%.
Sent from my Nexus S using Tapatalk
1500mAh/700mA = 2.1h, i.e. less than 2h.
It will never (ever) reach 100% if your charger and phone is working correctly. It IS a safety feature. Eventhough the phone is connected to the charger, it still uses battery to run. The charger stops charging when it gets close to 100% and charges some more when it's safe to do so. Meanwhile the phone uses the battery to stay alive and if you unplug it between theese charging cycles it will be anything between ~93 and ~99%.
It seems like forever honestly with this phone. My Evo would charge in about an hour and a half. This phone takes easily 3.5 hours if not more.
For some reason Samsung chargers take longer to charge a phone.
If I use my HTC charger the phone charges a lot quicker
I also read this somewhere on another site

HTC chargers are typically 1000mah and samsung chargers are 700mah... So there's the difference.
what is up with this phone i went to sprint got a new battery not knowing this was an issue of not getting to 100%. i came from att and having the htc inspire kinda like the evo i guess it would fully charge in about an hour and last me about 12 hrs of actual use. the nexus s takes about 3 hours to fully charge and i get about 5 hours with 0% brightness im thinking about going back and returning the phone.

While I do not what is draining your battery so quickly, the reason for the charge time is stated in the post above yours. The charger that came with the Nexus S is a 700mAh charger, while many others (notably HTC's) use the full 1000mAh charge possible on a MicroUSB line. More power over the same amount of time = faster charging.

I got to say via. Battery is a lot better than my desire hd.

Mine usually stops charging between 92 and 96 percent. I thought mine took a while to charge until I read somewhere that draining the battery completely leads to faster recharging times. I didn't keep track or anything but it does SEEM to charge faster now.
hi there
is any one have my problem?
i buy a nexus s in yesterday
but the battry cant hold charge for atleast 1 day!!
it usage is about 1 - 2 % charge in every houre!
i do workinig for example 10 minutes with the phone for setting ant etc .and then i saw the 4-6 % of battry charge go down!
or sometimes the phone is puting on standby for 30-40 mintunes
with no sms or calls, but its use about 6 % of battry chage!!!!!
and for wifi and games its even faster that it!
finally for a normal usage like 10-20 sms ,15 min call ,30 min browsing phone menues and apps and 20 web,
its going to be full empty!
and its meaning it cant keep charging for atleast 1 day!
i have the SLCD one ofcourse! => I9023 XXKD1
i couldnt find any superamoled version in my country to buy,
do you think its for the slcd screen?
i didnt think that its may cause this charging resaults for me just for the screen type!!!
my charging time is about 1.5 - 2 houres to full charge, that its not acceptable for me too!
i had a diamond2 with that poor battry.but i didnt think so the NS could be the same and even worst!
i upgrated my device to gingerbread officaly, from 2.3.3 to 2.3.4 by the phone, but its still no differance!
it the back of the battry i can see the 1500MA Lion , but the battry control app i my NS shows maximun 1200 MA power!?!!
can it be the truth?
do u think its battry power completly depended to rom and radio version to fix?
if that is,can any one intreduce me a good and fast and bugless rom and radio version?
thanks a lot :roze

36.5 Hours @ %18 Battery (Slow Charge vs Fast charge)

I am running Continuum v5.6. I have gotten amazing battery life but I do not understand what I do to obtain this. Here is what I did.
So I was getting terrible battery life and decided to recalibrate my battery. After wiping the battery stats after making sure my phone was %100 charged I decided to run the battery till my phone shut itself off. I was getting terrible battery life even after the wipe and everything. In about 24 hours the phone drained itself out with moderate to light use.
I recharged the phone with another USB outlet forcing the phone to charge slowly in USB mode. I believe it charges at 400 mah instead of the usual 700 mah when using the samsung charger. I left it until it charged from 2% all the way to %100.
This was mid Saturday. It is now Monday morning and I am still running on the same charge.
I don't doubt I could have reached up to 48 hours on my Captivate! I've never even came close to 36.5 hours without needing to charge.
What do you guys think gave me such great battery life? I am speculating that when we recalibrate our batteries we should do a SLOW charge. Slow charging batteries have always been the best method in the past IMO.
Possibility. However there are MANY different factors that contribute to battery life.
I would like to see some other confirmed reports of USB charging leading to longer battery life over AC charging.
Interesting stuff though.
Slow charging is always better with batteries. But in over a year i have never used usb to charge. So cant say if it last longer or not. I am a heavy user so no time for a slow charge
seems interesting...ima try this out as soon as i find a charger that charges at a slower speed..
I agree
I am 100% confident slow charging lasts considerably longer.
I normally use the USB on my computer to charge, and I get two days of what I consider pretty heavy use out of it, maybe longer but I'm never away from power for more than 2 days. When I charge with AC it's pretty tough to even last a single day.
Other things help as well. I always have the screen at minimum brightness, I would turn it down further at night if I could. I don't run any home screen widgets that constantly update, no haptic feedback, ect.
I'll have to try this out!
Let me do all the noobs out there a favor and ask how do i slow charge? Where do i get the whatever i need, is it a cable or plug thing and is the stock samsung stuff fast charge i assume?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
get one of these http://cgi.ebay.com/USB-Battery-Charger-Samsung-Captivate-SGH-i897-AT-T-/180649905228?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item2a0f92cc4c and it'll always slow charge, you'll hardly have to plug the cable in anymore.
Probably want to pick up a second battery.
Gives you a free of mind.
I've been using my captivate with 2.3.3 UCKF1, I charge it with the pc or the original charger and the battery drain very fast .. I think I will have to go back to 2.2.

First Charging Asus Transformer

I just got my Asus Transformer, I charged it full out of the box for 8 hours as initial charge. Should i drain it to 0 % and charge it for second time? or Just wait until 10 %?
Doesn't matter. I usually charge it when it gets to 10%.
For the first times I waited till 10% or something to fully recharge.
But after a lot of reading about the matter, I have found lots of opinions, so I think it doesn't make a big difference.
Regards.
Alright. Thanks man. Will just charge when 10%
From asus manual:
"Remember to fully charge the battery (8 hours or more) before first use and whenever it is depleted to prolong battery life. The battery reaches its maximum capacity after a few full charging and discharging cycles."
After awhile, Lithium-Ion Batteries don't really care how you charge them, or what their capacity is. Charging a battery at say 50% vs 10% won't really add that much more juice. I wouldn't really concern yourself OP..
Guys, the first 8hour charging means that I must charge separatly 8hours tablet and next 8hours dock? Because I put dock and tablet together and charge it 8hours. Was it wrong? Then I was using it connected tablet+dock together until it was showned warning that battery dropped under 5% and orange LED on the side of dock was blicking. Then I charged it again together and after 5hour of charging, LED is green and tablet shows 100%. Is it OK? Did I do something wrong?
Thanks
One question to you guys: During the first 8 hour charge, were you able to turn on the tablet? Because mine is sitting since 2 hours now and it won't turn on.
I have managed to turn it on.It required to keep the On button for about 10 seconds.

You're fine. The goal is to get the batteries fully charged rather than, say, up to 50% and then stop.
Last I read, LiPo batteries do not need deep cycling to maximize battery life or restore lost capacity due to battery "memory." Some recommend an initial full charge followed by full depletion, but go on to note that is largely to calibrate battery usage stats. I keep most of my LiPo devices plugged in when I'm not using them, because those batteries require "smart" chargers that stop charging when the batteries are full.
If someone has good info to the contrary, I'd love to hear it. But, with well-made devices and chargers, there is no need to follow any sort of careful battery charging regimen. Use it when you need it, and charge it when it needs a charge.

Mine was partially charged and turned on out of the box. Perhaps you have a power button with a loose connection? As long as it's working now, I would not worry about it.
finally today I recive my TR from US,& question is
are all of you guys ,charged 8 hours your TF
coz my is after 3 hours of charging TF is full 100%
& stay like that almost 2 hours more...
should I wait more 2 hours(for calibration reason)
or I can use it now
In the manual, it says charge for 8 hours before first use. I doubt that using before 8 hours is up will damage anything, but why risk it? I'd leave it on the charger.

Thanks for reply. My TF last 15hours of work after second charging. I think everything is OK with battery.

Right in the little pamphlet (that counts as a manual ) under the TF in the box. I'm sure, because it's one of the few times I've read a manual in the last decade.
I´m charging my new TF for the first time and it´s reached 100% after 3 hours. Is it ok to start using it now or must i wait 5 more hours for the 8 that´s stated in the asus-booklet?

[Q] How long does it take fully charge battery from 0 to 100%?

Hello.
I'm following the recommendation to fully discharge the battery, then plug it in wall charger and fully charge without turning it on, then reset the battery stats.
Well, it's been 4 hours so far and about 40% charged? is this normal? My old Atrix 4G was fully charged in about 3 hours...
should be about 3-4 hours but I never let mine get to 0, usually 10% is as low as I go.
No does not sound normal. Ive read others saying 3 hours fully charged. Id take a digital multi memeter and check the.voltage and amperage of your recepticals. Mabye you have a very low amp breaker. Which is probobly shared with the lighting. If your wiring is 12gauage then you can switch to a 20amp breaker but if its 14wire then no more then 15.... might also be your charger though. Id do some testing
bout 3 hours here.. fully charged for me
hmmm put OEM cable that came with the phone, which is twice as short and thinner then the one I used before and in one hour it charged from 50 to 100%
Ah ha. U didnt mention that in your op. But that is good
Takes about 3-4 hours from 10% for me.
My Samsung Infuse came with a lower quality charger (0.7A) and took close to 7-8 hours from 10%.
The Skyrocket comes with a 1.0A charger and charges much quicker.

3hrs+45min according to my meter
My first Skyrocket took about 4 or 5 hours to charge 0% to 100%. I returned that one because the BT died. The new one charges in 2 hours and 30 minutes. BTW, my wife's skyrocket BT just died as well. This will be the third returned Skyrocket out of 4.

Not trying to sound mean, but what's the point to the thread? Is it a question asking how to improve charging times?

It will charge much faster if you connect it to 220 volt power sources, rather than 110.

up to 90% it seems pretty decent. it's that last 10 that seems to take forever. I think the last time I charged it I went from 30 to 90 in 2hrs then the last 10 took another hour.
I ran my note into the ground today and then started a stop watch to see how long it would take to fully charge it. 4.5 hours!!!!
Mine takes way too long to charge also!!
Charging a battery faster leads to more heat which reduces the life of the battery. A very high capacity battery will take longer to charge, all else being equal.
They could have sped up charging by using a non-standard supply voltage/current from the charging cable (like ASUS Transformers, which uses 15v instead of 5v) and thus charging the battery faster. But it would have just got a bit hotter which is not good for the battery.
The battery stores many times more energy than a smartphone battery, yet it only takes about twice as long to charge. I think that's pretty decent.
Given the battery's capacity (7000+mah) and the charge rate (around 2A) I'd say the charge time is right around what I'd expect.
I found the charge a bit slow aswell, but the battery last so long that it balances things out for me, i was disapointed at first until i realised how well the battery performs, regardless what apps i used.
Yeah, Im not too worried about the 4.5hour charging time, my battery lasts me a few days and I can always plug it in before bed and wake up to a fully charged tablet.
I use my tablet during the day and before I go to bed I put it on charge and it's full in the morning. Do some people use their tablet so much in the morning it's out of juice by the afternoon? Give your fingers a rest. My battery lasts me usually all day. Even with looking at YouTube etc.

It sounds like you may have charged with your note 10.1 turned off.
The note 10.1 like many other tablets needs the tablet to be on while charging so the tablet can regular the rate of charge.
My Note 10.1 charges much faster turned on with WiFi, Sync and GPS disabled.
Mine goes from 25% to 100% in about 3.5 hrs.
from 90% to 100% takes about 45 minutes.

So do I (hello, fellow convert! ) and the real reason the Xoom charges faster isn't the port, it's 'cause the charger is 18W and is of a higher voltage (12v/1.5A vs. our 5v/2.1A). (I guess it could be argued that they had to go to a different port to not violate the PDMI spec the Samsung units use, though.)

You're being funny, I hope - our charger (just like any other charger released in the last decade) is a Universal Charger (100-240V/50-60Hz) so in any case the output voltage and current is the same no matter where in the world you plug it in.

That's not really true, though, as our tablet is in fact on when you're charging it- if you tap the power button when it's charging in the "off" state, you'll see that battery animation, and that's in fact a fully-running kernel but instead of running "Android" it's a special run mode more like a Recovery. The kernel is in fact running and alive.
FWIW my tablet charges far faster when off vs on, as there's far less simultaneous drain on the battery. Not sure what's going on with yours.

I hadn't completely shutdown my tablet since the update last week. I did so yesterday and now charging times seem to be back to normal. Something new from the update I noticed, when batery gets somewhere around 20% left, the battery indicator changes from green to yellow.
My tablet gets about 10 hours on battery, or more if im just reading the web. The most intensive app I run is candy crush and s-note.
That being said it seems to charge quickly, in about 3 hours. My complaint is the short charging cable it shipped with.
