Total stock, no root (stuck with 2.2 from factory)
It happens quite a bit. Phone seems to freeze, screen times out, won't power on with power hold, won't go to bootloader with volume and power. If I plug it in, led won't turn on.
If I wait about 2-5 min then phone will be charging and I can reboot, power in etc.

I'd suggest the same. If the problem persists, return it for replacement/repair. Is it pretty new?

You can also call HTC. They won't send you a phone. They actually will fix your phone, although you will be without a phone for a few weeks.

If you do go through AT&T, there is a chance you get a 1.85 phone so you can root!

[Q] My Sensation does NOT turn on.

Hi guys,
I've just bought a sensation. I've started to use it while charging the battery. When I tried to make my first call, it turned off. Then it turns on, but turns off again. A few times it turned on and i could use it for a while, but then again it turns off. is it related to the battery or something else? should I try to below methods although it is brand new?

Do I have to flash a boot.img before flashing new ROM from stock AT&T 1.85?

Hello. I'm needing to know if I need to flash a ROMs boot.img before flashing the actual ROM. I just now rooted, unlocked the bootloader, and installed TWRP recovery. Can I just download the ROM and install it from recovery?
Just download you're ROM and copy to phone then install from twrp.

Did that and now I'm reapplying the ROM
Alright, so I reapplied the ROM. It gets to the HTC screen as normal, but then it goes black. I have it on the charger and the light is red (as it should) If I hold the power button I get haptic feedback like I would when turning the device off. Another thing, the capacitive lights are also on. I'm going to try restoring my nandroid
Another weird thing is that when I hold the power button and volume rocker down, it makes the sound of a screen shot.
*Edit*
Restored and I'm back to normal. I'll try a different ROM

That's normal, that's one of two ways to create a screenshot.
I don't know if having your phone connected to a charger while flashing is causing any problems. The phone doesn't actually charge during any of this so you might aswel leave it unplugged. Additionally, letting the phone die while flashing is a big no no. I never flash without 75% or more battery left.

Yes, but the ROM wasn't fully booting up. I didn't know at first if it had flashed because the screen had stayed black. When I could do a screen shot, I knew it had. The screen still never came on and I ended up having to flash a different version of the ROM.
At first i kinda blur when ppl talk bout kernel n stuff, so basically the kernel is the boot image u need to flash on fastboot mode in the bootloader, rom is just simple as Ciou the zip file into sd card and simply install via cwm recovery.

Yes, it's a brick, but there is a fix if you have access to a Linux computer and know what you're doing.

when the device is bricked (qhusb mode), after pushing and holding power for ~10 seconds - in linux shortly thereafter all of the partitions will enumerate and expose themselves to linux for about 5 seconds (you'll see sdX1, sdX3, sdX8, about 30 partitions alltogether). During that quick 5 seconds you can DD whatever you feel like back to those partitions.
.
This is how I've recovered bricks. Corrupt hboot --> Brick device. DD back correct hboot while in this mode --> unbricked

-The phone is completely unresponsive despite being plugged into an outlet (not your computer) for a couple of hours?

Okay, one last thing. Open up Device Manager in Windows and expand the whole directory tree. Check "DVD/CD-ROM devices" in particular. Plug your phone in and see what happens.
If nothing happens at all, try leaving it plugged in overnight and see if anything is different. If it's still dead, it's bricked, whatever you did with it. Since it's new, you should be able to return it and get a new one.
Idk what to say if you were on 2.20 it should of failed the Rom flash...but it successfully flashed ?

[Q] Help, SHG-I727R might be bricked

Hello, I have had a Samsung Galaxy S II LTE from Rogers for three months now and it suddenly stopped working after trying to make a phone call.
The firmware was the Gingerbread 2.3.6 I believe (The most current firmware before ICS for the SGH-I727R)
There has been a history of attemping to install Cyanogenmod 10, but I had Clockwork Recovery installed and I was never able to install Cyanogenmod 10 because it gave me errors.
So I used Odin and an official release from Rogers to restore back to Gingerbread.
A month later, this is where I am at.
Status:
I can boot as far as the Carrier logo before going blank and vibrating every 2 - 3 seconds
I can go into download and recovery mode for 5 seconds before being met with a quick flash of a blue screen.
The phone randomly vibrates when a battery is inserted, when it is being charged, or a combination of the two
The battery needs to be taken out and placed back in before attempting a normal, download or recovery boot.
I also do not know if Samsung can tell, as there is no Clockwork Mod or any left over roms or Superuser permissions.
What should I do? Thanks!
If you do a battery pull and reinsert it, does the phone start to boot on it's own without any button pushs

if you restored to stock w/odin then you are fine, it wipes over previous roms/recoveries/rooting and "no one" would be able to see that you had previously installed custom roms or that the phone was rooted.
using odin does "not" increase the flash counter, using certain modified stock firmware like k0anes stock rom which you would use odin to install would increase your flash counter, but thats from an old thread and no one else has made a odin flashable stock rom since then, all the latest recovery flashable roms(zip files) would not increase the flash counter.
you are good to go for warranty repair, maybe wipe your internal sdcard if you can and take out your sdcard
My phone is currently experiencing same problem as the OP. :crying: Please don't tell me bringing it back to Rogers is the only option. My 1 year warranty might be expired already.
A quick update. I went to the store and they said that they would take it. They tried to fix the button with an exacto knife. I wasn't ready to send it in yet so I waited a few hours. I tried again and I was able to boot it properly. So, there is nothing wrong with the software. To those who might be having the same issues, check your power button first before sending it in.

Hi I had a similar issue. I'ts most likely the power button. If you're willing to open up the device and clean the power button area try that.
If you're still under warranty, try to send it in for a repair.
Here is some info on my situation:

Here is info that was helpful to me.

its 99% the power button, hearing it click is no indication thats its working as its an internal problem, theres 3 links to the problem in the "info" section in the "1 stop" sticky in my sig . taking it apart to get to the internal contact is one way to fix it, maybe the only way to fix it. if phone starts as soon as you put the battery in w/out touching any buttons then its a sticky/failed power button. warranty repair is also another solution
its 1% for a battery and/or battery contact problem

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. I was wondering what the hell they were doing. It worked I guess, but sometimes it still randomly reboots. I will send it in when I have the time, I'm not in a rush.
Yeah, Rogers acted in an unprofessional manner.
Take it in to Rogers,
I just had mine serviced and returned from Rogers, No problems and free of charge.
I dropped it off to Rogers with TWRP recovery/CM10 still installed, and the reason it was broken was I used a screwdriver to remove my sim card and tore out the sim card slot from the motherboard. Totally my fault. Also, my skyrocket is a used one from ebay, no less. Did not get it new from rogers myself.
Rogers fixed, no problems or cost to me. Rogers kindly restored it to a rogers Firmware, which I promptly removed immediately.

Well... theres not much anyone can do about that. Send it in for service? Since its too dangerous to try RUUing it will likely just shut off and brick. Besides, this is likely a hardware issue since it reboots in hboot. No software has loaded yet to make it unstable.

so is it the battery die or what is the problem with the hardware?
Hard to say from just reboots. The chances are high that it's the battery since that has the shortest life span of all the hardware but it's not a certainty.
