[Q] Bricked! Can't revert to stock or custom rom - HTC One S

So here's the problem. Just got my One S the other day and I attempted to install trickDroid on it. I got it rooted and unlocked and tried installing. Something went wrong somewhere along there and it wont boot up, only past the first screen and its all black after, i do hear the start up sound after a while but it stays black screen. So i tried to revert it back to stock and during the process I though I had to erase/reset data, so i did that. Only then did i realize that everything was on internal memory and it did not have an external sd card. So I cant install anything without transfering the files from my PC. I tried different versions of clockwork by fastbooting it because i heard it connect to pc automatically. But i end up with an I drive I cant access(insert disk in to I) or on the phone its says something about "unable to open ums lunfile htc one s" I also tried the all in one tool and the latest version doesnt have stock recovery. So the main problem is I can't transfer files on to the phone to reinstall any ROMs and I cant revert back to stock. I tried adb push to push the files on to the device but im not exactly sure how to do it. I am thankful for any help anyone can provide me.

ya i can, i can fastboot various recoveries too
the problem is still i cant mount the sd card so i cant transfer anything
adb push "rom.zip" /sdcard give the following " error device not found" even tho if i type "fastboot devices" it shows that my device is connected

Do you have a back up ......or is your sd completely empty now .. I'm not sure I can really help .. but that doesn't mean your out of luck .....
Another idea is your int sd mounted ?

thanks! I used the guide but I couldnt find all in one tool with stock since its being updated so i downloaded it from
but then i ran into the problem where it would not let me adb push, saying "protocol failed"
I did some research and found out that the adb.exe from htc sync has being interfering with the process.
I went to taskmanager and stopped the adb.exe process which then enabled me to adb push
After i loaded utb rom, but it kept popping up with errors so I installed MIUI which i find to be relatively stable.
Now Im chilling and enjoying my android!
Thanks to everyone for the help!

[Q] stuck trying to root nexus s, please help

I was trying to root my Nexus S
I got to bootloader, flashed rootboot.img and clockwork. Now I'm stuck on the unlocked google reboot.
When I try mounting the sdcard via usb in clockwork I can't get it to show on my comp, so I can't drop the zip files in there to update the phone. I believe that's the last step I need to get my baby working again.
If this is the case do you have any suggestions on how I can get files in there? I thought there might be a fastboot command to move the files there but I can't seem to figure it out.
If not can you please point me in the right direction
I tried searching the forums for a solution but everything I come across does not seem to help my particular needs, I apologize if I missed the solution elsewhere but I'm at wit's end right now
All suggestions are greatly appreciated
Thanks!
I am almost having the same issue. I unlocked the bootloader and flashed recoverymod but was unable to locate the superuser zip file so I rebooted my nexus. When I tried to start over again and fastboot I'm getting an error with CMD saying its waiting for device. On the nexus when in fastboot mode at the very bottom it says fastboot failsomething or another.
Any suggestions as to how I can get fast boot working again?!

I'm obviously no pro! but from what I gather it sounds like your phone's not being recognized. I had that problem and this guide seemed to solve it so you might find it of some help
nexusshacks.com/nexus-s-hacks/how-to-install-nexus-s-windows-usb-drivers
Thanks, it can't be a driver issue though since I was able to use fastboot to unlock the bootloader. Although it sure does seem like its not connecting properly.

blahhhh you jinxed me. I just realized how to use ADP, figured it was the way to push the files I needed to SD card and now I'm getting your error. I'll reply with a solution if I find one, hope you do the same! two noobs are better than one after all!!
Yikes! Please do, it's driving me insane!

Fixed it, a simple battery pull fixed my problem. Rooted it this morning!

Think you can tell me what driver you're using? When I plug my phone in I see the following in the device manager
ADB Interface
SAMSUNG Android Composite ADB Interface
I tried your battery trick to no avail, I even had ADB running and tried the battery trick and it won't work
Also, fastboot is recognizing my device.
Any help would really be appreicated. it's day 3 with no phone now
I'm at work now till 9 and I'm in CA. Ill look it up when I get home. U have to DL the Google something or another driver in sdk. I remember 4 was at the end of it. Ill post when I get home.

can somebody teach me how or give link to show how to root step by step please...
i'm new here..... TT
-- sorry for english.... not my language..
yeah I just switched to the google android service 4 "something or other" not in the mindset to find it. My phone's working it's just in super retardo mode right now. All that's working is the bootloader screen and the clockwork orange screen. I've kind of abandoned all hopes of getting adb to work on it because I've tried EVERTHING (except for what will work). I'm trying to figure out how to get clockwork to work with my pc that way I can get files into the sdcard which is what I was trying to use adb for in the first place.
ps... can you send a pic of your homescreen? I miss mine
U don't need adb to transfer files to your nexus s. Make sure debugging is turned on and mount your SD. You should get a promt to transfer files to and from your device via comp. You can use cmd to transfer with fastboot. I just got home and haven't even downloaded anything for root other than free tethering so I'm not sure which app will allow screen shot capture.
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using XDA Premium App
I'm relatively sure debug is still on otherwise I would not have been able to do what I already did. what's the command to transfer files to sd via fastboot? I tried "push" but that did not seem to work.
Once you plug the phone in.and mount SD.windows will automatically recognize it and prompt what woulf you like to do. Just choose transfer files. Go to the file you want yo transfer and right click. Choose send to E. At least on my comp the nexus shows up as e drive so choose which one it shows up as.
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using XDA Premium App
Thanks for all your help, I really appreciate it. It seems the phone's not being recognized by the computer when I mount it. The drivers show up in device manager when I boot to bootloader but then disappear when I go into clockwork. So I never get a chance to see it in "computer" when I try mounting the sdcard. Any thoughts?

TF300T can't startup anymore

Something went wrong while flashing CWM on my TF300T. It showed successful in cmd window on pc, but the statusbar on my pad kept showing 100% but nothing happend (no message or automaticly rebooting). After waiting 10 minutes or so, I turned off the device and restarted it.
Now the device is not started up anymore, keeps stuck on message:
"The Device is Unlocked".
When I try te start it up in Fastboot ( pwr+vol down) the screen get stuck on message:
"The Device is Unlocked.
Android cardhu-user bootloader <2.10 e> released by "ww_epad-9.4.3.29-20120511" A03
Checking for android ota recovery
Booting recovery kernel image"
Now the pad is not starting up the ROM and I can't get in fastboot mode anymore.
The solutions given in other treads about a simular problem, you need to put your pad into USB mode.
But that is not posible anymore.
Is there any other solution for this problem??
Thanks guy's
problem
I also have the same brick .... like it ....
Hello,
me too...
Tablet starts always automatically into CWM recovery.
Fastboot and ADB doesnt work either...
Could it be ADB isnt working because debugging mode isnt activated?
But how can I change without a working android?
Is there someone out there who can help me out of this problem?
Or is RMA the only solution?
But I dont want to send my transformer to asus so they can change the motherboard. Its only a software problem...
Can someone help me? Please
Give it what it is looking for and hope for the best. Stock update ( ww_epad-9.4.3.29-20120511 ) If when plugged into pc you have access to internal sdcard put it there, if not put it on external sdcard and reboot unit. If that does not load update try to get into fastboot as you mention above maybe it will install from there since it tells you ( Checking for android ota recovery ).
Good Luck!
If you downloaded the file from asus you will need to unzip once and still have a zip but slightly different name!

place it on external sdcard if you can't access internal. if this works you don't need adb or fastboot. we are trying to let your unit update for you and clear your problem. as far as fastboot I'm only suggesting do as you said about trying to go into fastboot as when you received the message about update.
sounds harder than it is.
place update on external sdcard. reboot, if no love reboot into fastboot as when you received update message. at that point we hope your unit will auto install the update for you.
time is all you might loose.

[Q] HTC Sensation bootloop

Hello xda,
a friend of mine just gave me his HTC Sensation because it isnt running quite a while. The problem is that i haven't had a HTC device ever and I don't really know what to do and what information you need to help me so I'd be happy if u just tell me what information you need and I will try to get them for you.
The Information I got so far is:
- if I want to boot it, it stays at the HTC Logo
- CWM starts with some errors but you can't perform a wipe (just turns off)
- Bootloader starts as well but you can't perform wipe either, nor flash new CWM
- If i connect it with the computer while in fastboot it changes to "fastboot usb" but adb cannot find the device, though i installed first the drivers, lateron htc sync. Windows just calls it "myhtc"
bootloader says:
"PYRAMID PVT SHIP S-OFF RL
HBOOT . 1.27.1100
RADIO - 11.22.3594.07_M
OpenADSP-v02.6.0.2226.00.0131
eMMC-boot
Jan 13 2012, 17:33:34"
So what should I try to do or what information will you need.
I would be very happy if u can help me

Hi,
Go HERE
Install 4 EXT recovery, using one of the 3 methods available.(probably third)
Then, try to install ARHD ROM.(same guide)
No need to change the firmware.
So I just tried to flash 4 EXT Recovery but it doesn't work..
It finds the zip, ask me whether i want to start the update, i press vol up and "Update is in progres.." appears but nothing more, I'm waiting since 5 minutes and will probably have to power off the phone now.. the same happened when i tried to install cwm so theres something wrong with the bootloader?
What can I do now?

Hi,
Maybe you should run a RUU.
Look HERE
I also thought about this but as I said adb doesn't find the device.
Since I never ran a RUU, can I still flash or do I have to get adb to run with the device.
Anyway, I cannot read out the CID of the device so if it is possible, which RUU should I flash?
Thanks for your help

Hi,
Try installing these windows 7 & 8 drivers (assuming you have a windows 7 or 8 machine)
Reboot your PC and see if your phone is recognized in ADB.
You are s-off,so you do not have to match it 100%
Just get a RUU that is close to your region or carrier.
If you get the wrong one,it is not a problem.
It will just give you an error.
Then,just try another.
)
Well I just installed those drivers but same result as before..
Windows says "MyHTC" and after i write "adb devices" into the cmd window it says "daemon not running. starting it on port 5037. daemon started succesfully. List of devices attached." and the next time i write adb devices it just says "List of devices attached".
Bootloader still says Fastboot USB.
So maybe there's something wrong with my adb?
Well can i flash RUU without adb finding my device or cant I?

Hi,
Not sure what is happening with your ADB.
Look HERE for help.
In order to run a RUU ,you need to put the bootloader into fastboot, and plug in the USB.
It should show what yours is showing.
So, it should work.
After "List of devices attached" there is no device shown, I didn't leave anything adb shows, so this is still right? Usually it always shows my device ^^
So my adb is probably not running right or it is about my phone
So my next step should be adb showing my device and therefore reinstall android sdk, java, stuff until it might show the phone
or just do something with the phone?
I still think that i cannot run a ruu without any device shown? Didnt really get an answer on this question I guess or I didnt realize it

Hi,
Just run the RUU.
It will only show error if it does not work.
No big deal, and no damage done.
Just try another one.
if you enable usb debugging might help too
Well.. I just started "RUU_Pyramid_HTC_Europe_1.50.401.1_Radio_10.56.9035.00U_10.14.9035.01_M_release_223042_signed" and everything went fine until installation, no errors at all. Now the installer is stuck at "restarting bootloader" (or something equal, the installation is german) and the phone didnt do anything at all. It's now 15 minutes since the installation started so I probably will try another one but isn't it weird that ther is no error at all?
What should I do if the next RUU does exactly the same?
*edit:
just seeing page 2. How should I enable usb debugging without booting the phone?
*edit2:
second RUU: Same thing, no error but it didnt go further then "Restarting bootloader".
What to do now?
Any further Ideas what I could try?

Hi,
Try running a RUU with the same radio (11.22) that you have installed.
You will not damage the phone.
It is not always an exact science with RUU.
Sometimes it is just trial and error.
So it is often that there is no error at all?
I just thought flashing wrong RUU will cause an error and not stopping at restarting bootloader. And anyway the bootloader seems pretty broken since it is not flashing anything at all ^^
Still i gonna try it

Hi,
Probably ,the only thing that will fix your problem is a RUU.
So,keep trying different ones until it works.
I finally managed to find the phone via adb! I think that's a great step.
The biggest problem is that I lose any contact to the phone when i reboot it into bootloader.
I can just boot the phone into recovery and use any other adb function but as soon as I boot it into bootloader I can't do anything anymore.
That's why I cannot use any fastboot commands to flash a zip, neither run a RUU completely i guess.
So I think that i need any rom to either flash via recovery or just via PC not using fastboot/bootloader at all.
Are there any possibilities for me now?

Hi,
Plug your phone into the PC.
Go to device manager, and where it says MyHTC,right click and update driver.
Browse to the windows 7 & 8 drivers I gave you earlier.
Update,unplug phone ,and reboot PC.
Get a RUU that shows 3.32 or 3.33 in the title, and matches your region
Pull your battery.
Put it back in,and hold volume down and power button together.
Scroll to fastboot.
Plug in usb and run RUU from the PC

[Q] Problem with MTP

Hey all. Done a lot of searching and have tried a lot of solutions but I'm still having the same problem.
A friend of mine brought me her phone (AT&T HTC One X Plus) that she had soft bricked my trying to root and flash his own rom by herself. Trying to fix it, she accidentally relocked the bootloader and also wiped the recovery from the device. She said she wanted it re-rooted and CyanogenMod 10.1 installed. I told her I could do it for her. I have unlocked the bootloader through htcdev, flashed on the new recovery (using CWM v6.0.2.7) and now all I need to do is transfer the actual ROM to the phone and then install it. I can't, however, for the life of me get this phone to communicate with the computer/ADB. Fastboot recognizes it fine, I can type put the phone in fastboot mode and type 'fastboot oem get_identifier_token' and it will give me the identification number of the phone and other details, so I know it's communicating with it, but when I type 'adb devices', nothing shows up. And it's the "adb push filename.zip /sdcard/" command that I have to use. I have also tried going through the recovery and mounting the /sdcard/ and /data/ and /system/ to the computer, with no luck. Whenever I click on the "mount sd" through the recovery, the page just refreshes and puts my selection back at the top making no changes.
Whenever I plug this phone into any of my computers, all of the drivers install except for the HTC MTP driver, as seen here;
img59.imageshack.us /img59/61/driverh.png (Sorry, going to have to fix that link, can't post pictures yet)
I have plugged an HTC One into the computer and it downloads all the drivers just fine and communicates with adb. Same thing with my Note 2.
Any help would be really appreciated.
Thanks,
John

ADB only works when the rom is loaded with usb debugging on. It's a shell for command line direct to your phone. Furthermore, recovery does not use MTP, it uses generic mass storage device.
It seems you're not the only one having issues mounting with CWM. I don't know much about it because CWM has very little compatibility with the HTC ONEXL(This forum) whereas you seem to have the ONEXPLUS there. Different phone, but if TWRP is compatible with your phone you can try mounting using TWRP instead? I understand that at one point a specific version or set of versions perhaps(like I said, we don't use CWM much for this phone) had issues mounting so you can check to make sure you have the latest version of CWM as I am pretty sure they've since fixed the issue. If you are using the latest version, you can also try issuing "fastboot erase cache" while in bootloader/fastboot to clear cache which may fix your issue.
Good luck. For better help it may be best to post in the one x+ forum subsection.

It's either your phone is not working correctly with fastboot usb or your computer.
You can try a live CD of linux/Ubuntu - this might work.
i am screwed too! omg!~
so i killed my phone... sounds like the same thing that happened here... i am praying u find an answer ... cuz i need one too... if anyone has any info they can give me on how to make my htc one s boot... that would be great... i can install rom, well one rom... viperv3.1.3... and it says its successful.... but then i reboot and it just sits there on the boot menu thingie... not even bootlooping just stuck... i dont know too much about how to fix this phone... and idk wat i can do to fix it... you should see the amount of time ive put into tryin to fix it in the last 4 days... omg. i need my phone back ... lol... i was hoping that someone made a backup... as my drive formatted itself and clearly formatted my backup also.... so i can try to just restore it... .is this an option. i hope so .

That is so weird. So you cannot get it to show fastboot usb?? If so, then I don't know what you can do. You need to have communication to restore with RUU. I know some people do JTAG, but considering you can buy a used One S for around $120, it may not be worth fixing. Most people I know charge around $75 for fixes so I may not be even worth it. Hopefully someone with more knowledge can jump in this thread.

It's really strange beacuse with this metod it works a few times , but i hadn't enough time to install the rom
Before you begin with your computer:
- go into recovery
- advanced
- reboot into recovery
If it reboots straightaway, you're ready to go. But it might wait, and offer you to root your phone. Do that, otherwise it won't work!
I would also restart the computer, just for a clean start. I also wiped my phone once again (factory reset).
On your Mac:
- make sure your rom (*.zip) is inside the platform-tools folder (this is inside the android sdk, where adb is)
- your phone should be disconnected and in recovery mode
1. open Terminal
2. type: cd (press space)
3. pull the platform-tools folder onto the terminal, press enter (this is here: /android/sdk/platform-tools)
4. type: ./adb kill-server (enter)
5. type: ./adb usb (enter) -> now it should say that "error: device not found"
6. connect your phone to the computer with the usb
7. type: ./adb devices -> it should show your phone, recovery mode
8. in your phone enter sideload mode (either in advanced, or in install zip option)
9. type: ./adb devices -> check if your phone is connected in sideload mode
10. type: ./adb sideload + <full name of the rom, including .zip, without brackets>
It should work, for me everything went perfectly.
